Yuquiyú is a rustic retreat in the foothills of Puerto Rico’s El Yunque rainforest. We are a glamorous camping, or “glamping,” destination that offers artisan-crafted treehouses with a balcony, a granite kitchenette, and a slate bath. We are not a hotel - there are no porters or room service. Each treehouse can accommodate a maximum of two people. The minimum age is 18 years. The minimum stay is two consecutive nights. No pets are allowed. With Yuquiyú as your base, it is just fifteen minutes to the heart of El Yunque rainforest, twenty minutes to famed Luquillo Beach, and thirty-five minutes to Old San Juan. We are not for everyone, but if you have a sense of adventure, love being close to nature and want to experience Caribbean living the way it ought to be, Yuquiyú may be for you!
Traveling to Puerto Rico with the recent earthquakes and power outages we weren’t sure what to expect. With or without power, this place is simply amazing! Great staff, fresh fruit, beautiful views and coqui frogs singing you to sleep every night. They even cooked us dinner on the fire and we ate by candlelight on the restaurant deck during the power outage. The fresh brewed kombucha was also a nice touch.
Bring some sturdy hiking shoes and a backpack, so that you can enjoy their trail down to the river for some meditation on the yoga deck. Yuquiyu is also a great base camp for some day trips up into the El Yunque rainforest or to find some of the hidden Taino petroglyphs.
We had great conversations with Manny and the team about the future of the Rainforest Farm. We look forward to coming back in the future for a longer stay when they’ve incorporated some off the grid solar power and rain water cisterns. Because of eco-lodge style efforts like Yuquiyu we think things are looking up for Puerto Rico and their potential for ecotourism adventures!

I spent two nights here in La Cascada treehouse. The treehouse was clean and had everything needed to prepare meals if desired. I loved the rain shower with a huge window open to the rainforest view below. The water pressure was great and there was always hot water. The views are just beautiful and the constant sound of the river below is relaxing. Unfortunately, it rained quite heavily both days during my stay which made the trek to and from the treehouse quite slippery and difficult. I would definitely recommend bringing only a backpack with your things and wear hiking shoes or sandals with good traction that can get wet! Bring a rain jacket and an umbrella. The treehouse was stocked with two really nice flashlights but it would be a nice addition if they added two umbrellas. Dinner each night at the onsite restaurant was delicious and I highly recommend dining onsite. The food was fresh, healthy and delicious. I really enjoyed the passionfruit banana smoothie, the refreshing fresh lime & mint drink, homemade hummus, and the veggie burger. Manny was friendly and helpful during our stay. I definitely hope to return on my next trip to Puerto Rico!

We stayed in Yuquiyu for eight nights. Every day I've learned to appreciate the place more and more. Yuquiyu is lovingly and responsibly planned and managed. I genuinely consider myself privileged being one of the maxima of 6 guests that stay at a time at Yuquiyu. The treehouses are surrounded by carefully cared for rainforest that increases the privacy of each cabin. It is a multisensory magical experience with the colors, the sounds, the textures, the tastes, the smells all engaged. We were outside for 24 hours, with windows and doors to the terrace always open. Our gentle visitors were salamanders, geckos, and birds. The place is safe, clean, and well cared for by the staff. Manny and Fiya respond to every request with beautiful and warm attentiveness. We had three dinners - each delicious and satisfying. We never run out of fruits, snacks, coffee, and all breakfast needs. Yuquiyu looks beautiful in photographs, but nothing prepared me for the amazing experience. I hope to come back.

My wife and I stayed at Yuquiyu for 2 nights. It is a wonderful place. room clean and well kept. The room was supplied with fresh lemonade, coconut milk and yogurt in the fridge. jars or cashews and granola. coffee and a french press. and a bowl of fresh fruit. They supply candles for night when you sit out on the deck. The river is a quick 5 minute walk away. Joel was very friendly and very helpful if we needed anything.

We stayed at La Cascada treehouse for two nights recently and first off on a positive note the views from the treehouse are spectacular, the river is beautiful for morning swims and the cabins take great advantage of these amazing views but unfortunately the service and communication was terrible. The main thing we were very disappointed in was the inability to access the restaurant, we are both plant based and the idea of plant based meals sourced from the rainforest was a major draw to us. When we booked originally we asked for dinner reservations to be told the restaurant was closed on the days we were there, when we arrived we were told it was actually open and another couple were dining there, we contacted Ernest and were told we needed to have booked in advance which we tried to do and for us to make contact with the chef ourselves which again we tried to do, we texted the contact number in the room and got no reply and Ernest certainly was of not assistance so in the end we cooked our own food in the room. We had paid 600+ dollars for 2 nights so felt very let down. My advice would be to come prepared for all meals, they do leave some fruit and yoghurt in the room but it’s not really adequate for breakfast. In summary we would definitely visit El Yunque again it’s an incredible place but we would stay somewhere else.

Let me start out by saying that the place has stunning views right from your own treehouse. The entire property is well maintained except for the area near the river which was falling apart. Finding this place can be a huge headache. I was told that the GPS system in remote areas in PR are totally off and not reliable. I took a taxi to the place but the taxi driver dropped me off at the wrong location. I was put into a dangerous situation because there were very few people around and getting another taxi was impossible. I don't blame the managers or the owners for my dangerous situation that I ended up in, however I feel like the manager could have done a better job relieving my stress when I called him. It happened to be an extremely stressful day for me. When I finally arrived at the treehouse, all I wanted to do was take a hot shower and go to bed. Unfortunately, my shower was cold. There wasn't any hot water in my place. The bed was not really comfortable. There were also mosquitoes and moths flying in, which is understandable because it is in the rainforest. They had fruit and yogurt, milk and tap water in the fridge. I wish they would have had bottled water. The pineapple that I had in the room was rotten and the oranges were not ripe. The only fruit that was good were the bananas. I had requested for some more yogurts which I never got. The next morning I told them that I didn't have hot water for my shower. I was told that it would be fixed. That night I wanted to take a hot shower but found out the hard way that it was not fixed. The owner offered me a discount for the next time I come. I personally don't know if I am going back. Offering me a discount for the next time doesn't solve the issues that were not acceptable for this trip. It is very pricy place. I definitely paid for a 5 star place to stay. The views and overall atmosphere is 5 stars. But I expect better service. I would give a 1 star for the service. The bed was not really comfortable and being unable to take hot showers and having rotten fruit was definitely not acceptable for a 5 star place.

It was a great 2 night stay for us. The view was amazing. The property was very well maintained and beautiful. Sleeping at night was so comfortable as we slept with the windows and doors wide open as a cool breeze filled the room. There's a path that leads to the bottom of the property to a relaxing swimming hole and a wooden deck to enjoy a drink and the sounds of nature. My only complaint is no one responded to my email or text inquiry during my stay. I was told to text a number that was on business card in the room if we ever needed anything. I texted the number because we needed more coffee and fruit but unfortunately no one responded. Not a big deal for as we are easy going people but it might be for others. Aside from that it was an amazing stay. We definitely will come back!

IF you are interested in the experience of the El Yunque rainforest, this place helps you experience it more fully. They are beautifully designed individual treehouses nestled in the rainforest that provide a calm and private experience. The host was very friendly and helpful, the room itself had everything needed from coffee to yogurt, nuts, juice and water. Sleeping with the forest sounds was amazing - and even better was waking up to the view with a relaxing cup of coffee. Really a great stay - not to be missed.

I stayed for three nights in El Mirador treehouse and I love every second. The room comes equip with two fans, small refrigerator, stove, blender, french press, toaster oven silverware, plates, cups, and pots for any in room cooking. The manager before arrival called and let us know the room was ready and upon arrival we where greeted in which he show us the whole property, explained everything to us in fine detail and he was always available upon calling him for suggestions and recommendations. The room was extra clean they supplied fruits, yogurts, coffee, granola and cashews in little mason jars. They have a restaurant for guest by reservation and Chef Luis vegan food was amazing with salsa music in the background eating with view of the rainforest mountain and night stars it was a breathtaking view
My experience there was majestic for sure I am staying here again in the future

We stayed in San Juan, Vieques and here and staying at Yuquiyu was far and away the highlight.
You really are in nature but with the comforts of being in a house - the best of both worlds. If you fling both doors and both windows open it really feels like you're outside. Yet you're also comfy. We were shocked that it really wasn't buggy. We did not need the mosquito net. Aside from a moth, a centipede and a couple of lizards there were no visitors.
They are not really treehouses. However, because they are built into a steep hill with stilts on one side it does give the sensation that you're in a treehouse. The views from Mirador and Cascada were UNREAL. So beautiful. (I'm sure the other views are also unreal I just can't speak to them.)
They kind of understate on the website how well outfitted the kitchenette is - it has fridge, teakettle, french press, stovetop, toaster oven, nutribullet, short glasses, tall glasses, wineglasses, mugs, kitchen implements, etc.
I also somehow missed on the website that they have a small infinity pool?? It was awesome.
Joel is so funny and Edgar and Jeny, the chef and server, are SO sweet and nice. Food was awesome.
The place is not puerto rican owned, I was disappointed to learn, but Joel said the owner is great and pays well to the puerto rican staff, so that's something.
The journey to a couple of the houses is kinda long and steep, however not as harrowing as I imagined based on the website. The website made it sound like the journey was through untamed jungle. in reality, the journey is through a well maintained path with solar powered lights. You still need a flashlight though. I do not recommend cara de indio or cascada for people with mobility problems. Mirador is down a steep hill too but much more accessible.

The property faces southeast, is on a hill and receives the Trade Winds most of the time. The treehouses are made of wood (not heat-retaining cement), and with doors and windows on all four sides, there is abundant cross-ventilation. The two windows are 4' x 6', the entry door is 7' x 4' and the balcony door is 7' x 6'. All can be opened completely to allow the breeze to pass through. We also provide a Vornado floor fan. To answer your question about mosquitoes — there are few. I use Cutter Backwoods insect repellent, leave the doors and windows open and have no bites. The small number of mosquitoes is due largely to the lizards and singing tree frogs (coquis), which eat a lot of them. Maybe you'll notice one or two mosquitoes at night, not many. We provide two repellents – the CDC-recommended Cutter Backwoods, which has 25% DEET, and the Consumer Report's recommend Repel a natural repellent made from lemon and eucalyptus oil.
Sorry for the delay. We are just getting up and running on TripAdvisor. Each treehouse has a queen bed, so it would not be suitable for a couple with two children.
