We did enjoy a few meals and it was always pleasant except for the birds that would swoop in when others have finished and didn’t bother using the plate covers that are provided. No fault of the property, just worth a mention if you’re traveling with someone afraid of birds. We also took advantage of the golf club side and loved it there! The pool is beautiful, the beach is quiet, and the food was delicious! One day we used the shuttle to go over and the 2nd day we just drove because waiting for the shuttle when you’re ready to go was a drag in the heat.
We did hit the casino a couple of times and that was nice too.
Overall, it was a great stay and I would definitely return.
The hotel grounds and rooms were clean. Staff were friendly and always busy cleaning and catering to guest’s needs. The beach has black sand, but don’t let the color put you off. The consistency of the sand is lovely and makes for a great barefoot walk on the beach at sunrise. I enjoyed riding the bike along the perimeter of the hotel. By shuttle, we visited their neighboring and more tranquil facility where their is a golf course, another pool and a beachfront area with lounge chairs. Plenty of parking and I advise to park closest to the building that you are assigned. I would recommend bringing along mosquito repellent and money to tip as the staff is deserving. All in all it is a delightful place to stay. We look forward to our next visit!
Despite the potential our stay was a freezing nightmare! (Except the mini fridge, that did not cool.)
It is winter & room AC was 65° upon check in, I promptly turned the AC off but it kept blowing cold air on high. We opened the doors because it was warmer outside at 70°. By 11pm I was literally turning blue (Raynaud’s disease) & I knew I was not going to get any sleep, or worse end up sick. Went to front desk to request mantaince. Maintainence came & said there was no way to turn off the AC, make air warmer, or flip the breaker. I asked if there was a warmer room they could move us to as it was getting rather uncomfortable. He stated all the rooms were the same & insisted that all the AC units stay on full time. I requested an extra blanket & hoped for the best. By 1am we were searching everywhere for a way to cut power to the ac unit locked in the closet, tried to block vent, & shoved towels into the vent to no avail. At one point I took cushions to the balcony & laid out there trying to warm up. We considered checking out but didn’t have anywhere to go at 3am. It was a long miserable night; we didn’t get any sleep & my partner had an important meeting that AM. The next day we asked the front desk if we could try a different room or we needed to check out. Thankfully she was able to accommodate. We switched rooms, I walked in turned the AC to off & it immediately kicked off! Are you kidding me?
New room was inferior view but was normal temp. I ended up sleeping most the day from exhaustion. Too bad because the pool looked awesome.
I’m disappointed, competent maintenance or a simple room change would have scored them 5*’s. Instead we got a sore throat & gaslighted by the maintenance man. I booked Hilton because consistency of comfort however this is the second time broken AC happened in a Hilton with no resolution.
Irony is our food spoiled in the mini fridge that was also broken. Guess we should have left it out in the AC? I’m pretty sure we got the reject room.
The pool area is well maintained- the woman in charge spends hours every morning spraying down the chairs and table with disinfectant. The pool looks huge in the photos but actually it is more for standing than swimming laps. The beach is not very attractive and most guests stayed by the pool.
Due to covid, masks were still required in all parts of the resort. Rooms are only cleaned on Thursdays and one other day. They will provide clean towels if you ask.
This is a good resort if you're looking for a relaxing good time with your family.
