Guests at Embassy Suites by Hilton Dorado del Mar Beach Resort enjoy the inviting atmosphere, with the pool and beach areas being particularly appealing. However, some travelers are critical of the rooms, which they find outdated and not well-maintained, leading to issues such as dampness. While the hotel's staff often receives praise for their attentiveness, there are mixed reviews regarding service consistency, especially in room service and management's responsiveness. Although the amenities like the beach and pool are highlights, concerns over their maintenance and cleanliness have been noted, leaving several guests feeling the resort does not provide good value for the price.

Our family was in need of a warm weather getaway. Two Weeks ago the earthquake happened way south away from the Dirado location. We were undecided about going to Puerto Rico but I am we are so glad that we did. It is beautiful here and we are not concerned. The people who work here are extremely nice and the food is amazing! There is only one restaurant on-site but across the street is a sushi restaurant.

However it is a little rundown but the assistance, free made breakfast to order and complementary evening drinks with snacks every night are worthwhile staying for a getaway.

The Hotel is non-smoking and when I saw people smoking around us security was on then once we inform them. There also is a public beach right outside which is nice for a change of scenery relaxing. We are really happy here again it’s not fancy but it does the job if you enjoy the Hilton chains and you want a beautiful area for a mini vacation. We’re enjoying the spa service as well for a relaxing massage.

We’re about 45 minutes away from San Juan airport but took an Uber to save money on a taxi.

Support the tourism in Puerto Rico!

My family and I decided to a book a hotel at Embassy suites. Once we arrive to check in we waited for our room since it was not ready. An hour later, we went to our room and we were not happy that we were so close to these huge circular fans. We also wanted to be close to our family members who also booked their stay along with us. I called the front desk and spoke to Alejando (ALEX). I expressed my frustration and told him there was a room right next to my other family that they were cleaning. I wanted to be in that room. He understood my frustration and told me he would do everything he could in order to get me in that room. A few minutes later I received a phone call from him that he was able to accommodate us and get us that room. I was so relieved and happy that he helped us and it made a huge difference in our vacation experience. He deserves a huge acknowledgment and we were very happy that he helped us. We didn’t stay too much in the hotel as we were exploring the island but I can’t say whenever we asked for extra towels someone delivered them within a few minutes. The hotel grounds were cut clean and I liked that we could order food and drinks inside and outside of the hotel pool. The hotel staff arranged for a taxi to pick us up to take us to the airport which was a huge help. On our last day we checked out and we were greeted by a lovely woman named Joanna who helped us store our luggage until our taxi came to pick us up.
I can say that If it weren’t for Alex switching our room so we could be close to our family, we wouldn’t have had as much of a fun time spending time with them and it would’ve been a huge inconvenience so Alex thank you so much.

Came here for our 2021 annual family vacation. Actually, I am still here writing this review in the room. After getting off my flight and spending an hour on the road to get to this facility, the very last thing I wanted is to spend 45 minutes at the hotel front desk trying to check into my room that I had booked through Expedia. It seems like they are understaffed as there was a long line that formed behind me. I was charged a 30 something dollars resort fee per day upon arrival which I have no clue what that fee was for. I requested for bell services and was told that he had already left for the day. This was at 6pm. Meanwhile check in is at 4pm. Who works 2hours a day? I checked in on Monday and today is Wednesday, housekeeping did absolutely nothing to clean or make the beds in my room as of yet. They only dropped off some towels because yesterday as I was walking out I asked a housekeeping staff member for some towels. Free breakfast? If you don't get down there early enough you will be waiting an hour on a line to get some eggs, sausages, and pancakes. Snail/turtle like speed operation at this hotel. Another issue is this resort is located next to nothing. Everything is driving distance so you best have a rental to get around. Walgreens is about a 10 minute drive while navigating though like 25 speed bumps just to get out of this gated facility so annoying.

The Embassy Suites by Hilton Dorado del Mar Beach Resort in Dorado, Puerto Rico, has long been my go-to hotel for any travel to the area, and I have recommended it to business associates numerous times as a preferred option. However, after my recent stay, I’m afraid I can no longer recommended it to my colleagues at Ford Motor Co., as the hotel’s state of disrepair is concerning to the point of being hazardous.
Among the many failures I noted during my stay, I want to bring several to your attention as they speak to the extensive damage being caused to what I’m sure is a vital capital asset in your portfolio, in addition to exposing your organization to potential legal action.
First, the roof has failed. When it rains, as it so often does in a tropical location, the water pouring into the facility is collected with buckets and towels. While I hope this is a recent failure and is in the process of being repaired, what I observed in the interior finishes seems to indicate this has been a long-standing problem. In the corridors, I observed the wood finishes were rotting from the rainwater.
Second, the corridors the carpets have deteriorated to the point of tearing. While this is unsightly and not in keeping with the standards, I’ve come to associate with the Hilton brand, as a person with a certain degree of mobility challenges, this caused me to small amount of concern for my personal safety and that of other guests. I’m sure you are aware of all the violations triggered by a slip/fall hazard in a hospitality facility.
Third, the presence of roaches in the coffee area.
The last item I will note is that despite numerous calls to the front desk, my request to have my balcony cleared of the copious bird droppings from a bird nest on the light fixture went wholly unanswered. This compromised my ability to fully utilize my room, and glaringly underlined the level of disregard for guest experience exhibited by the current hotel management.
It pains me to have to send this note to you. This property has always been a place where I could come and relax, and one which I could recommend to others without hesitation. On the contrary, now I will be forced to tell them to take their business elsewhere, both for their comfort and safety. I can only hope you will take my concerns seriously and investigate why this property has been allowed to fall so far from the Hilton standard of excellence.
Sincerely,
Justo Vinales

First of all I want to start by apologizing for all the inconvenience you encounter in our resort. Also want to thank you for your review, because the positive and negative feedback from the guest is how we know what to keep improving in our property and also how to provide a better assistance to the guest. We are working with the renovation and the maintenance of the hotel. We don’t want to lose your loyalty with Hilton and as a guest in our property. Please allow us to make up for this previous stay.

This by far is one of the worst properties I have been to on the island. I am definately not recommending the property to anyone they claim it is a resort. Only because it is in the resort area of Dorado but I will def not be coming back to the property and needless to say charging me over $200 im resort fees is crazy. I came here thinking this was a resort but I have been in other Hilton properties in the tri state area that are in better condition yes there is a pandemic going on at the moment yes we might need to try giving you the benefit of doubt. But no like I said from broken elevators to broken ice machines to a on the go breakfast with 8 peices of home fries and a little bit of scrambbled eggs. To even being told we are not servicing the rooms at this time unless you request it really so I booked a 6 night stay with my wife and kids and you are telling me no servicing on the room unless you request it and to me having to come down to ask for toilet paper really and we are claiming this is a resort property with a $35 dollar a day resort fee this is crazy and the manager of the property should be ashamed of his or herself. Staff is friendly but it appears some kind of management training is needed to learn how to run a so called resort property. I would really suggest not staying on this fake resort property this is like a 2 star hotel disquised as a resort with broken down machines ice and vending even elevators not working....

We needed sunshine and warmth bad! Check in was great, super nice people. The room was OK to say the least, the size of it was great, other than that, I would expect more from a Hilton. The beach was needing some major attention, it is a public beach from what we were told. Tried using the SUP's, Kayak's and we were told there was a fee to use them. We assumed they would be covered under the outrageous "resort fee" , but apparently not. The outside restaurant/bar was only open during the daytime, food was gross. You also have to fight off the birds while eating your food. There is NO store on the grounds, the little cafe was never open. A nasty cockroach joined us at the bar, scared the crap out of me! The music at night... wow....as others have said how loud it is/was.....loud is an understatement. There was a guy enjoying the music, but he was whistling every two seconds. That got annoying really fast! Luis, he was the best part of our trip. This guy deserves a raise!! IF we ever go back to PR, we would stay elsewhere. This hotel has huge potential to be fabulous, but they have a lot of work to do to achieve this!

One of the charms of Embassy Suites is their cocktail hour. No cocktail hour here: instead, they charge you $10 for a beer during what would be happy hour. They do give you drink tickets. Order beer or wine lest you get sugar water. But enough about my desire for alcohol on vacay and let's get down to brass tacks...

At 4, when we checked in, we asked for blankets for the pullout bed for our kids. It is 11:30pm. We have called or have gone down to the front desk 6 times. Still, my kids have no pillows. Going to bed at 11 was the desired time but we keep waiting for those elusive unavailable pillows.

Our bath tub is clogged and this place needs a major update. Also, my son and I spent a couple of minutes cleaning up the beach as there was an enormous amount of trash on the beach. This is more of a testament to the clientele than the hotel, but worth mentioning. I cleaned it up for no other reason than I really don't want fish or turtles choking on nonsense.

Now back to my drinking problem: when I looked at the bill and saw that it was $10 for a corona, the bar tender said "well it's because of coronavirus that we don't have happy hour." Oh, what a coincidence! Because of coronavirus, it turns out that my credit card doesn't work either. Crazy.

Seriously, this place, for the price, is a massive disappoinment.

I have stayed at this hotel at least 15 times in the last couple of years but honestly this father's day weekend was the worst stay of my life. My family and I were so excited to finally be able to get out of the house for the weekend. When we first arrived around 430- 5pm we were told that our room was not ready. For us it was no problem and we understood and just waited in the lobby. 7pm comes around and I asked again if the room was ready and no it was not, so me and the family ordered some food and waited to see if the front desk would finally call saying the room was ready. Well nope never happened. I completely understand that there are some new protocols due to covid 19 and that the cleaning process is taking longer than usual, but checkin starts at 4pm and my family weren't given a room until almost 10pm which is completely unacceptable, and I definitely should have not been charged for that night. Also the embassy suites is known for their breakfast and happy hour, well no happy hour and the breakfast was a joke. Never got my welcome amenity oh and by the way I'm a diamond member so I'm definitely entitled to at least 2 bottles of water. The first night the TV was not working, we called 2 times to the front desk but maintenance never came. The next morning I stopped by the front desk to report the TV again and I told the front desk I was going out so they could check it. Came back at around 1230pm and it still was not fixed. Asked for water via text message and the water came 4 hours after because we had to ask again at the front desk. I really don't get it. This hotel is not prepared at all to be open at this time. Also when you walk through the hallways you can see through the windows of the other rooms that are not clean what so ever and they stay that way for days and then they put those blue hilton stickers on the door as if they were clean. This hotel is going down hill and they need to do something about their service because it is not up to par. What a way to ruin the one weekend we were excited about.

I did not enjoy my stay at Embassy Dorado in Puerto Rico. The resort room was very dirty and dingy. Sheets were not fresh and smelled funny.
We stayed Saturday -Wednesday. Housekeeping only came every 3 days and on the day housekeeping (Tuesday) was supposed to happen, they never came and I had to call them to get our room serviced in the evening. They finally came around 7pm. I didn’t even have a fitted bed sheet on the bed, it was just a sheet being used as a fitted bed sheet. The hotel failed to mention all of their facilities were closed on their website. So that was a big disappointment since there is not much to do around the area but eat. Excursions are 1 hour or more away so we were stuck at the resort all weekend. Pool was constantly dirty and barely cleaned. Hotel bathroom tiles were dirty and looked like they haven’t been cleaned in months. Corners of the room and bathroom were filthy. The free continental breakfast in the morning was HORRIBLE. Only options were pancakes, eggs, sausage and potatoes. The food was always cold and never fresh. The pancakes were always hard and you could tell they were pancakes from the day before. The only positive is that the main restaurant’s food was decent. The mofongo was okay. However, I do not recommend staying here. The ratings online definitely DO NOT match resort in person.
