I do not recommend staying here. Before visiting Embassy Suites by Hilton Dorado del Mar I was quoted a price. My last day on the resort I was given a bill with the price I was quoted. Three days after returning back home my credit card was charged an outrageous price. I tried contacting the resort multiple times regarding this matter. The guy at the front desk fought with me, therefore, I asked to speak to a manager. I was told the manager would call me back. I never received a call back. I tried multiple times after that to contact the manager again and was told the same thing every time. This place has the worst customer service ever. I was forced to overpay for my stay.

So many things wrong with this hotel. I was forced to pay a “mandatory resort fee.” Which included miscellaneous things like, beach towel rentals, discounts at the restaurants, open bar, etc. I was able to use none of these things. I asked the concierge if I could opt out and she told me no. It seemed like a complete and utter waste of money to be charged a resort fee when guests at the hotel couldn’t even use the hotel to its full capacity. Given the current situation, the least the hotel could’ve done to ensure that their guests were comfortable would’ve been to just waive the fee since we were paying for services we could not use. Another thing that went completely wrong about the hotel was the food. Given the current situation, it was not the usual continental breakfast that the hotel usually provides. It was a buffet that was packed up and then you had to bring back to your room to eat. We noticed that there were several guests that were stopping to sit in the lobby, regardless of the rules that the concierge had told us at check in. The food was absolutely abysmal- it tasted like complete cardboard. Again, the usual breakfast could not be provided but this was something guests are paying for. If it wasn’t going to be good food, there was no point in having this service and paying for it. I came on this trip as a family trip, we were a party of about 14 people all with our own rooms. We were told at check in about the rule with the pool and social distancing. We opted for the afternoon time when we came down for breakfast since we had to reserve what time we were going to use the pool. We arrived at the pool about 30 minutes prior to try to get about 8 pool chairs for our family. We noticed that when our time to use the pool approached, that people with the opposite colored wrist bands (morning pool people) were still using the pool. The rules of social distancing were also not being enforced. Security was not on top of making sure that people that had used the pool in the morning were asked to leave. In fact, people that were scheduled for the morning continued to use the pool during the afternoon people’s turn, making the pool crowded and unsafe. My sister in law had asked one of the security guards about a colored wrist band and he nastily told her that those were “diamond members.” When she asked what that meant, he shook her off and told her the same thing, that they were “diamond members.” He then walked away and did not answer any more of our questions. I was able to get a hold of the hotel manager who was walking around the pool and let her know what had happened with the security guard and told her that we really needed to be accommodated because we were a big family. She assured me she would help, walked away and did not follow up with us to make sure everything was okay. This is not the kind of service that people pay for when they go on vacation. It was completely unacceptable and uncalled for. I was really upset that the security guard was so rude to my sister in law. Things did not get any better. I noticed when we checked into the room, there was a sign that said that you had to call the front desk and “request housekeeping.” I did just that, I was told housekeeping only came by every 3 days. This was probably one of the most alarming things I experienced during this trip. As someone who travels frequently, I’ve never heard of something like this. It’s kind of disgusting really, to be charged a resort fee and not be able to get housekeeping every day. The worst thing about this is that given these unprecedented times, the hotel should want to ensure that everything in the rooms are sanitized for their guests daily to minimize the chance of someone bringing back the virus. On one of the occasions where housekeeping DID come, they took my personal hair towel and I had to hunt down a bunch of different people to get it back. They were careless about making sure that they did not take guests articles of clothing from the room. They did however give me my towel back dry cleaned, it was just an annoying thing to have to go through during my stay. During our stay, it was nighttime already, we were up watching a movie in the room, we had went out into the living room area and we noticed something smelled weird. We couldn’t figure out what it was, but it smelled like something was burning. We opened the door of the room and there was legitimate smoke coming up from the hotel. It looked like the hotel was catching fire. I have a video of the whole thing. We left with only our most valuable things in a hurry. We noticed other guests were also panicking and leaving. It was complete mayhem. It was a very scary thing to experience, especially so late at night. The hotel made a PSA announcement that everything was fine and to go back to the rooms. The hotel management staff did nothing for the guests to rectify this situation. The last thing that was probably the kicker on top of everything was that as we were checking out, on top of everything that had happened, the concierge had the nerve to tell us that we had to pay taxes. I had already paid the asinine resort fee that I was not even able to use and then the hotel wanted to charge us taxes on top of that. This trip was supposed to be a chance for my family to spend time together, instead, it was a huge inconvenience and an overall health and safety risk. I am absolutely appalled by the lack of consideration that all parties have had with their customers.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with husband and kids. The check-in was a breeze! Room was very clean and comfy. Due to COVID-19 the breakfast was pre-packed so you could take it to the room or have it in any of the available tables, it included coffee, milk, juice, cereal and fruit. They had two shifts for the pool from 730am-230pm and 230pm-10pm but pool was never crowded even though we stayed in a weekend. The beach was clear and very nice. There is no room daily cleaning unless you request it but it was not a biggie for us. We will put the trash outside the door and housekeeper will pick it up. Had a little issue with the bathroom but maintenance came right away when called. Will visit again!!

• We booked the Embassy Suites by Hilton Dorado del Mar Beach Resort on June 29 through Chase Travel Portal for a stay from July 2nd to the 6th (4 nights). We chose Hilton because of our Gold Status’ perks. • We called in same day we booked our stay to give our Hilton Honors Membership number to be added to the reservation. We thought that if there was a chance of getting an upgrade (because of our gold status) it was better if they knew beforehand. They came up with the excuse that because the stay was prepaid they couldn’t register it (more like wouldn’t do it) ensuring this way that we wouldn’t have a chance for an upgrade at our arrival. • We checked in on July 2nd at night. I gave them my Hilton Honors membership number. My room was already assigned. We never stood a chance for an upgrade. • We were informed beforehand that the hotel was charging a $35 PER NIGHT fee (surely related to the Covid pandemic). It turned out that this fee was imposed to cover: 1. Internet access - which is complimentary with gold status 2. Beach services with chairs, umbrellas & towels – it’s always been for free 3. Pool toys & games – also free and there was no one to ask 4. TWO bottled waters DAILY!! – also included with gold 5. 50% discount on 2nd entrée purchased at lunch or dinner – REALLY??? I pay $35 for a chance of a second plate at half price??? 6. Unlimited local & 1-800 Calls 7. 15% off massage • Right after we got into our room that same night we noticed no water in our room. My wife went to the reception desk and asked for water. She was told that the “free” water (included with the $35 fee) did not apply on the first night!!??? Still, they gave the water as a “favor”. Then she was told that water was going to be provided daily in our room (the one that it turned out it wasn’t going to be serviced during our entire stay). Needless to say, we never got our water (but still had to pay the $35 fee!) and we weren’t ready to be begging for water every single day. We decided to go to a local supermarket and get our own water!!! Shame on you Hilton!! • After my wife came with the water she noticed huge dust balls and old pretzels under the sofa bed. She called it in and was immediately cleaned. But it says a lot about ones safety during a hotel stay during this pandemic. Especially after Hilton making such a big fuss about the “CleanStay Program”. Our room didn’t feel clean and definitely didn’t feel safe!! • After staying for four nights, we only felt amazement that absolutely nobody came to our room to service it or to ask for a change of towels or bed sheets, to empty trash cans, to offer toiletries or to offer water (that we paid for by the way!). • On the night before checkout, my wife called the reception desk to inquire about a possible late checkout (knowing that it was subject to availability). They told her that they weren’t doing that and that they were not honoring ANY of HHonors perks!! We could have stayed at any other vacation property (especially Airbnb) without any hassles, with more privacy and probably safer. The ONLY reason we chose Hilton was because of our Gold Status and it’s perks. Had we known the hotel’s position of simply disregarding our HHonors status we definitely wouldn’t have chosen Hilton. And what anger us the most is that it would’ve taken so little to please us and this hotel managed to screw things up soooo bad! • To top it off, upon checkout we were charged more money that what we had estimated. It turned out that they were charging me a daily $13 parking fee when we didn’t even have a car and I was never told about this fee before! This is how SCAMS are done!! • I would definitely NEVER stay at this hotel again, I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anybody and I would have to rethink this Hilton Honors status game. So far it is so not worth it!!

I have stayed at this hotel at least 15 times in the last couple of years but honestly this father's day weekend was the worst stay of my life. My family and I were so excited to finally be able to get out of the house for the weekend. When we first arrived around 430- 5pm we were told that our room was not ready. For us it was no problem and we understood and just waited in the lobby. 7pm comes around and I asked again if the room was ready and no it was not, so me and the family ordered some food and waited to see if the front desk would finally call saying the room was ready. Well nope never happened. I completely understand that there are some new protocols due to covid 19 and that the cleaning process is taking longer than usual, but checkin starts at 4pm and my family weren't given a room until almost 10pm which is completely unacceptable, and I definitely should have not been charged for that night. Also the embassy suites is known for their breakfast and happy hour, well no happy hour and the breakfast was a joke. Never got my welcome amenity oh and by the way I'm a diamond member so I'm definitely entitled to at least 2 bottles of water. The first night the TV was not working, we called 2 times to the front desk but maintenance never came. The next morning I stopped by the front desk to report the TV again and I told the front desk I was going out so they could check it. Came back at around 1230pm and it still was not fixed. Asked for water via text message and the water came 4 hours after because we had to ask again at the front desk. I really don't get it. This hotel is not prepared at all to be open at this time. Also when you walk through the hallways you can see through the windows of the other rooms that are not clean what so ever and they stay that way for days and then they put those blue hilton stickers on the door as if they were clean. This hotel is going down hill and they need to do something about their service because it is not up to par. What a way to ruin the one weekend we were excited about.
