Having dinner at Ola Oceanfront Bistro mojito bar was one of the most memorable experiences we've ever had in a bar. The pineapple mojitos were great, really tasty, you can see that the juices are natural. The food was exquisite as well, you can see that some items in the menu reflect the Puerto Rican gastronomy. We wouldn't have such a good time without the bartender Lyana, she helped us a lot choosing the food and drinks. You can see that she is really passionate with the Puerto Rican culture, she integrated all her knowledge in the menu description. So we learned a little bit of everything about the island and as well, great facts about the hotel's history. She also gave us other recomendations within and outside the hotel, we can't wait to visit the places that she mentioned.
High-rise hotels and condos line many famous beaches, competing in a search for the finest views of the sea. Not all views can be equally as good. Buildings have sides. All sides can’t face the right direction. And not all floors can be high. But many travelers want a view. Some are willing to pay for it. Hoteliers know that. A few travelers don’t want just any view. The want the best view. What is “the best view?” It’s subjective, of course, but in San Juan, a quest for best view begins by realizing you won’t be staying in the old city. As intriguing as that maze of narrow streets, centuries-old buildings and massive forts may be, it doesn’t offer many possibilities for great sea views. So we move down the coast to relatively upscale Condado. There you’ll find the high-rise hotels most apt to compete for the coveted best views. The informal guides to San Juan seem to have settled on these criteria: higher is better. Full view of the sea is better. And… if possible, full view of both the sea and lagoon is best. That room is going to be hard to find. Rooms facing the sea can’t face the lagoon—unless they are on a corner. Rooms in the hotels moving toward the Isla Verde area can’t face the lagoon—because it’s not there. In fact, probably only a couple hotels really can offer the nec plus ultra. One of them is Condado Vanderbilt. Question: should you book a room there, and if so, which? The hotel is possibly most famous beachfront property for luxury, as it conserves the opulent encrustations of what a century ago was a tycoon's beach house. That legacy is still part of the hotel. Well, sort of, though chances are you won’t be actually staying in the original mansion. You’ll be staying in an added modern tower. But for the view that’s where you want to be anyway. The rooms on the corners have the best views, and arguably the best of those are toward the top. We stayed in Room 1210, the top floor. It would be hard to find a better view in Puerto Rico, and with two balconies you can sit out and watch either the beach walkers on the sea or the kayakers on the lagoon. Condado Vanderbilt features its own beach chairs, multiple restaurants, pools and poolside drinks. At a price, the price being $32 for two Mojitos, plus tip. Alternatively, a walk down Ashford Avenue past the hotel can bring you to a variety of perfectly respectable Puerto Rican restaurants. But no pool. Any downside to this five-star hotel? In service and efficiency, no. It has everything. Solicitous staff make you wonder if maybe you were mistaken for some movie star? You’ll feel like a Vanderbilt for a day, maybe. But fancy comes at a price. Our room cost $591.41 a night on a weekday, taxes included. But the view!…
I went in during the hurricane and Edgard was amazing helped me right away with booking a room, provide me with the best customer service and was extremely helpful with any questions or concerns I had. Thank you very much for you’re help. Mike Rivera was also so helpful during the storm when I lost all electricity, great service thank you for all the help you guess really made my experience great.
Fiona was a category 1 hurricane and it passed thru Puerto Rico while we were staying in this hotel and there was nothing, we could do but to wait it out. Everything was splendid, pools were beautiful and warm, food was amazing and great service at all times even during the hurricane. Me and my friends really liked the Game Room and the pool staff that managed it was really nice and kind. We will think twice about visiting PR again in September, but we would definitely come back to the Vanderbilt and have a grand time once again. 10/10
My stay was booked when Hurricane Fiona was headed towards Puerto Rico. And two days prior to check in, I contacted both the hotel and TripAdvisor to see if I could either get a refund or switch the week of travel. I was told I could switch the week of travel and I received a confirmation email. Mr. Santiago was the manager on duty who authorized me to switch my week. When TripAdvisor reached out to the hotel to rebook the week, the hotel did not honor the terms of the email. By now, hurricane Fiona was eminent and no flights were allowed to Puerto Rico. I received the news on the morning of September 21 that I would lose $1600 if I did not check in by 4 o’clock that day. So I spent the next two days just feeling really horrible about losing that money. Then I get an email saying that TripAdvisor is going to refund all of my money. So five stars for TripAdvisor and 0 stars for the hotel…
I stayed at the Condado Vanderbilt for five nights with my girlfriend. From the moment we arrived, there was a giant inflatable rat outside with speakers blasting dialogue about how the hotel exploits its workers. This happens ALL DAY and our room was right next to it. It was highly disruptive to our stay. When we complained, we were told they have no affiliation with the hotel and they couldn't do anything about it. Also they charge you $50 hidden "tariff fees" per day. If i'd know the hotel was going to be $300 more than the original price I would have booked a different hotel. Stay away from this place.
Beautiful Hotel. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The beautiful view and the friendly employees especially Ana at the pool area who was always friendly and fast with our order and recommendations.
Where to start ? Booking through American Express FHR was one of the best decisions I could have made, the vacation and experience I had here was amazing , it started with Jeremy checking us in and he was able to detail all the amazing benefits I get , we even got an upgraded room , our entire stay was made amazing by the kind staff , Raul from towels was humble enough to help us no matter the amount of times I switched my seat , always setting up towels for us and leaving a towel to dry , he honestly made the experience at the water based part of the hotel amazing, Jeszel from the Mojoto bar was amazing , he turned out to be full time and his Knowledge and amazing personality made every late night ice cream run worth it. Although the freezer was not working in our room they were able to quickly send someone to help fix the room Yariangel was unable to fix the issue but immediately offered to get another freezer from 9 Floors away! It was also 11pm at night ! If this doesn’t scream amazing customer service then I don’t understand what does ! Christian who works the later shift at the front desk was able to help us fix the freezer issue for me and my partner and it was honestly such an amazing customer service experience. Another quick story about customer service , it was 15 minutes to close and i had a sweet tooth and Gabriel from the taco and tequila restaurant helped us out by sitting us down and even having a whole conversation about iguanas and the beautiful rain forest in the area. The trip concluded with Issacs kindness and staying with us for 30 minutes with our bags while I was checking out. The entire staff was so friendly and I can not ever put a dollar value on that experience , BUT BRING BUG SPRAY…
This was our first time here at this hotel and everything went perfect. From the quick check in to the amazing pools and beach sun to the great restaurants and spa every single staff was fully prepared to offer you the best service posible. Our main hangout was by the infinitiy pool. David and Manuel took great care of us and even offer some great restaurant recommendations. We would love to come back here when we visit PR again.
Amazing service!! Views of the ocean were wonderful! Christian was our server, did an amazing job, and gave great recommendations for the area. He went out of his way to make sure we have a great time at the restaurant. The margaritas were so good, we loved our time here.
