The Gallery Inn is the Most Interesting, Most Unique and Most Amazing hotels we have ever visited. A group of very old, historic buildings linked together with love, care, imagination and artistic sensibility and at the Premier Location in all of Ssan Juan. The Owner began this labor of Love in the 1960's and continues to add and improve it today. This is not the place for those looking for a big square room with cookie cutter furnishes and furniture. Nor is it the place for those wanting long straight hallways with carpet. There are courtyrds, open to the sky everywhere, the review would be 20 pages if I tried to describe it all. Then it would still be inadaquet. We has a beautiful room, looking right out at the AAtlantic for 3 nights and returned again a week later on our way back to the mainland. Try it, you may love it too..

Stayed at the Gallery Inn for 3 nights prior to a cruise. It is a very unique establishment and may not be the right fit for everyone....but I am happy I selected the Gallery Inn for my first stay in Puerto Rico. The Inn is multi level and much of the flooring is brick and uneven...so you are always walking up or down a few steps and often there is water on the ground. There are many fountains on the premises and we enjoyed the tropical birds that reside at the Inn. Our room was 1 of 3 up an old metal circular staircase (yes, we had much difficulty getting our large luggage up and down the staircase). MANY THANKS to the younger employees who assisted us! I requested a room with 2 beds and we got one (a double and a twin)--THANKS again. Our bathroom had warm water and plenty of pressure. Spent every night listening to the wonderful live music being played at Cannon-the Steinway Piano Bar. There's a table and chair next to the plunge pool with a view into Cannon--the perfect spot for a glass of wine! The hotel sits just above La Perla and between the 2 forts with a commanding ocean view. We spent several hours playing cards in the outdoor sitting area below the roof top deck (there's a small table and seating for 4)...overlooking the ocean. One flight above is the roof top deck which provides an excellent panoramic view of San Juan...and at night it's just wonderful! The location is convenient to everything in Old San Juan and to many wonderful restaurants. My female friend and I felt safe walking at night. I enjoyed the complimentary granola for breakfast ...the made to order omelettes did look yummy (for an extra charge). I would stay at The Gallery Inn again! p.s. Very much enjoyed the wonderful book by Jan D'Esopo (owner of The Gallery Inn) that was in our room.

We stayed only for 1 night prior to cruising out of San Juan. Our room overlooked the pool area and was on the 1st floor. The room was comfortable. The 2nd bathroom had a window which looked out onto the hallway to the breakfast area. We did go to the Cannon Club for a couple of drinks in the evening. People were gathering and starting to play the piano which was nice. The music went on after midnight, which was a little bothersome, so I would suggest a room facing the sea side rather than an interior room. Great location & walking distance to everywhere in Old San Juan. If you want a TV, then you will want to stay elsewhere. There is wi-fi. We would probably stay again.

This was our third visit so yes I have previously enjoyed. I believe the hotel is having more deferred maintenance. I understand old but that should not be an excuse for no water pressure and no hot water for two days. This is a hotel so basic services should be provided such as being able to shower. Housekeeping was limited I think more interested in cleaning rooms for the next guest vs cleaning room for e siting guest. The trash must be emptied daily since poor septic and waste must be disposed of in trash can. The free breakfast is coffee and toast. The bed I think is a cheap bed in a box very soft you both will be in the middle. The drapes don’t even hang properly over the window. If comes unhooked it stays unhooked. The place just needs a little tlc. Love the water view from my balcony. The bar this time was difficult to get service except on our first night. Some great musicians play nightly and that is really nice. Certainly the hotel has character. Just know there is a lot of uneven steps and stairs you must navigate. Won’t be a fourth time.

The Gallery Inn is not a place that fits into any structured categories for neat comprehension. It is, rather, an experience that captivates all your senses as soon as you enter the gate. It is delicious parts history museum, art gallery, architectural adventure, and old world immersion. It is an inn like no other! Don't miss out!! Stay here. Make sure to bring reading materials (no tv) and enjoy your roommate. You will never forget it!
