There are not enough positive words with which to describe this hotel and the hotel staff. The room -- though small (HEY, this hotel is in an historic building - don't expect it to look 21st Century modern) was excellently appointed and very well laid out and the room had something that few hotels can boast: enough electrical outlets for...

25 years ago my husband and I had lunch here - we were fortunate to return earlier this month, and pleased to find it just as charming as we remembered. This hotel is a jewel - located on Cristo Street, right across from the Cathedral de San Juan Batista. It was established in 1651 as a Carmelite convent. The location...

We were there with a large group (13 guys). Great place! Our room was small, but it's a 350+ year old building. Amenities are great. Free area with bottled water all day, free breakfast, and a 2 hour wine and cheese happy hour daily! Turn down service every evening. Right in the heart of Old San Juan. Walk to all...

The best part about staying here is imagining all of the nuns and religious patrons who slept here long before we did. It's almost like you think the walls might talk. It is beautiful and the location is extremely central to many attractions. It is definitely on the expensive side but worth experiencing at least once.

Special thanks to all the staff. It was a marvelous stay at your hotel and you made it extremely special for us. Besides all the wonderful beauties from this historic building, special thanks for Marianna, Angel, Christian, Jennifer and Javier. See you soon. By far best hotel.

My husband surprised me with a two-night stay at El Convento, as our two-week vacation over the Holidays was coming to an end. This hotel, formerly a Carmelite Convent, feels like a jewel among jewels. Located in the heart of Old San Juan and sitting right across the street from the San Juan Cathedral, El Convento preserves its history without...

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times. Each time is a step back in time but with elegance. I have stayed in the Vanderbilt suite to a simple room. This time it was a simple room with queen size bed and back patio. Loved it! (Okay, it wasn't as nice as the suite but we really did enjoy the...

There is nothing not to go on-and-on regarding this property. From the location to the complimentary water, wine/cheese/fruit reception daily and service, everything was just right. My only criticism would be that breakfast is very pricey. Rooms are small and dated, but then it was a convent originally!

Historic hotel. Staff was very helpful. Nice rooftop area for dunking in small pool and hot tub. They have an arrangement with the Marriott in Isla Verde so you can spend the day at a beachfront property which was a huge plus. I loved my stay there but it was very expensive. (the only negative)

Beautiful hotel, best location but terrible service and food. The rooms are nice and the interior garden beautiful. But the service at restaurant areas is very poor. Durty glasses are left overnight until long hours on the morning in the table the following day.. Service in restaurant is slow, not professional and quality of food very poor. If you stay...
