This hotel was great from the beginning to end!
Ricardo at the front desk was a total professional and so helpful. This was our first visit to Puerto Rico and he was so knowledgeable of all the main attractions in the area. The room we got was a king in the first floor and the bed is very comfortable and the entire room is very clean👌🏻 The bathroom area was a little small for both us to shower together but the large king side bed made up for it. The room also has an air purifier, and ac unit, along with a little desk area if you want to get some work done ✅ Lastly the roof top terrace hot tub was perfect last night as we had it all to ourselves. Local restaurants, bars, and boutiques all walking distances along with all the historic sites. Bring the most comfortable walking shoes because there is a lot to see. Get your ice for in-room cocktails from front desk before 5pm, the ice machine is not accessible.

We visited here as soon as we were fully vaccinated and were very happy with our choice! Ricardo at the front desk was as helpful as could be and the location was the best! This hotel is right next to Hotel Convento and on the square with the cathedral. The pros for this hotel, in our opinion, are as follows:
Location!
Fabulous architecture
Plenty of hot water
COVID compliant/awareness
Air conditioning worked well
Availability of ice for drinks in the common area
Staff was extremely helpful
Upstairs sundeck/common area was fabulous!
Cons:
Not quiet due to louvered doors. Loud guests coming back at night sound like they are right in your room!
Rooms are small
Water pressure is just ok
No availability of coffee in the hotel. I understand this is a COVID thing, but it seems like having a pot of coffee available would not be a risk.
There is definitely some wear and tear noticeable in the common areas.

Overall we would 100% stay here again. We loved how small the hotel is and the personal contact with the staff. We walked everywhere with no problem and felt like it was a wonderful spot to enjoy the few days we had in Old San Juan.

Loved the atmosphere of this hotel and it was quiet! Exactly what we were looking for and location was great could walk to everything. We had one of the two rooms upstairs H8 king bed and small patio that extended out onto the larger shared patio. No one else used the patio while we were there. There were lots of sitting options and a hot tub that was clean. You could sit at a small table and look down on the street below and see part of the Catedral Basilica Menor de San Juan Bautista. Only one other room is upstairs and there were occupants but they were quiet. Our room had a king size bed, microwave, fridge, large armoire, nice size bathroom for this type of old hotel and very clean everything worked.

If you arrive after 1pm there is a number on the door for sister hotel and they give you a code to get into the front. There is a large dining area to the right when you walk in that has coffee area, ice machine and water spout. To the left is the office where you can store your luggage if your room is not ready. Then you walk straight and see the lower courtyard with the downstairs rooms and a fountain. It was very "old San Juan" and cool.

Up the stairs is the only other two rooms. One wish only (for my husband; I don't drink coffee) is to either have a coffee maker in the room or downstairs in the dining room that you could use at your leisure. If you get up early and are a coffee drinker this might be a problem as they did not make coffee until 8am one time. I guess you could bring instant coffee and use the microwave in your room if you are desperate. I guess you could also walk to Hotel El Convento just up the street with a restaurant that opens at 7:30am.

I would not recommend staying here unless you want cool pictures of the interior and not much else...

I will start with the redeeming factors: The front desk staff (only on location til 5pm) and cleaning staff were lovely and incredibly accommodating. The rooftop area and hot tub were a fun lounge location. Our room had great air-conditioning and the wifi always worked. The location is outstanding, but there are many other hotels in the same area.

The cons: (1) Our bed and pillows were extremely hard and uncomfortable, which I have read other reviewers mention. When I first read those reviews, I thought those people must be exaggerating, but they were not. (2) Our key card did not work TWICE after hours, and we had to call an emergency line and get assistance. On the second time, no one answered for awhile, and we had to BREAK IN to our own room. We did not break anything to do this, and it was entirely too simple to do. We still felt safe, though, since the main entrance was locked and code protected and our room had a bolt and safety lock. (3) The bathroom was extremely small and the water pressure was not good. (4) Our sink leaked constantly. (5) Our TV did not work. (6) Our safe did not work. (7) The floors were dirty.

After meeting other travelers around San Juan, we realized we over paid (by a lot) for what we got. I would not stay here again unless it was at a big discount.

This place is fantastic! A blend of Old San Juan and modern comforts. The architecture models an old hacienda, with a central atrium and rooms on 2 floors. The second floor has a sun deck complete with hot tub, personal tub-pools, and tons of lounging options surrounded by blooming flowers. Walking distance to everything... restaurants, the fort, beaches, etc. And the staff are incredibly accommodating. Need sunscreen? They have it for you. Need to store your luggage on check out day? No problem. And breakfast is included too. We will definitely be back to visit the VHH!

It had a cute little garden up top where you could lounge that was lit up at night.
The staff was kind and helpful, and there was a fountain on the main floor which I loved.
There was a lock with a code to even get into the hotel which made me feel safe.
The bed had a canopy which was very romantic.
The location was right in Old San Juan
Breakfast was cancelled due to covid which was annoying, but not the hotel's fault.

This little hotel is such a GEM, located in a little side street in the middle of Old San Juan. The hotel has a beautiful Spanish Hacienda Style throughout the rooms and common areas. Our room (ground floor - H7) was spacious, stunningly detailed decorated, high ceiling, the King size bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a big shower with two shower heads. Morning coffee is served every day and an ice machine is available since the room has no fridge.

The villa grounds have a little rooftop to use as well to enjoy a morning coffee. The staff was extremely friendly, accommodating and truly helpful. The location is in walking distance to the ports, restaurant, shopping and nightlife.

We highly recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay there again when we return to San Juan.

Villa Herencia is a gorgeous, boutique hotel located near the water and El Morro and walking distance to everywhere else!! When you pass through the front door you will find yourself in a beautiful open air courtyard with fountains and tropical plants and a staircase to a roof deck that is magnificent! Cell service is perfect, rooms and beds are spotless and comfortable, bathrooms are perfectly clean and beautiful! The architecture has been maintained with vintage tile floors and stucco walls and vaulted ceilings. It's Extraordinary! The permanent art installation is perfect, appropriate and beautiful. Johnny at the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. We'll always stay a Villa Herencia when we are in Old San Juan for pleasure or business. So happy a friend recommended it!

Villa Herencia is an extremely charming & quaint historic building in a great location in old San Juan, with easy access to the historic district. It felt extremely safe and we enjoyed our stay, although my wife was disappointed that they had cancelled breakfast in the elegant dining room. But coffee is provided. The downside for me was the lumpiest mattress I have ever slept on, which gave me a backache for two days after our visit. Rm. #5. Also the rooms are minuscule, and the wide angle photos on the website are deceiving in my opinion. Aside from the bed, it is a reasonable place to stay to enjoy magnificent Old San Juan.

We really enjoyed this hotel and wished we were able to stay more than just one night. It was unique and charming, and although the rooms were small, it was understandable based on the history of the building. Breakfast was pretty spare but good. The rooftop area was almost magical. Our only real complaint is that since the room doors are quite thin and have slats in them, they aren't soundproofed, which was especially obvious when some hotel guests checked in at 3 AM (!!) and were rolling their suitcases all over the cobblestone floor and talking extremely loudly.

I am not sure since we did not visit Bacardi. I can say that you are within walking distance to where the cruise ships dock if that helps! It is an absolutely wonderful little hotel in a great location!
