Loved the atmosphere of this hotel and it was quiet! Exactly what we were looking for and location was great could walk to everything. We had one of the two rooms upstairs H8 king bed and small patio that extended out onto the larger shared patio. No one else used the patio while we were there. There were lots of sitting options and a hot tub that was clean. You could sit at a small table and look down on the street below and see part of the Catedral Basilica Menor de San Juan Bautista. Only one other room is upstairs and there were occupants but they were quiet. Our room had a king size bed, microwave, fridge, large armoire, nice size bathroom for this type of old hotel and very clean everything worked. If you arrive after 1pm there is a number on the door for sister hotel and they give you a code to get into the front. There is a large dining area to the right when you walk in that has coffee area, ice machine and water spout. To the left is the office where you can store your luggage if your room is not ready. Then you walk straight and see the lower courtyard with the downstairs rooms and a fountain. It was very "old San Juan" and cool. Up the stairs is the only other two rooms. One wish only (for my husband; I don't drink coffee) is to either have a coffee maker in the room or downstairs in the dining room that you could use at your leisure. If you get up early and are a coffee drinker this might be a problem as they did not make coffee until 8am one time. I guess you could bring instant coffee and use the microwave in your room if you are desperate. I guess you could also walk to Hotel El Convento just up the street with a restaurant that opens at 7:30am.

This hotel was very cute, loved the decor and especially the outdoor spaces of the courtyard and the rooftop. The guy at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. A few recommendations for the hotel: Leave the fountain on at night! It was so beautiful and was a nice white noise to drown out anyone in the courtyard and the Coqui frogs that were always chirping so loud, would have helped us sleep if it hadn't been shut off. Secondly, move the AC units. Ours was over our bed and kept dripping on our heads while sleeping. It wasn't that often, but being woken up by water splashes once an hour was a bit jolting.

We only spent one night here prior to a cruise. It’s on a small cobblestone street very close to so much. I had booked a downstairs room as we had luggage and didn’t want to deal with stairs for one night. Room is very small, but workable for a night or 2. It’s an older villa but maintained. There’s a beautiful rooftop terrace. You can see the Cathedral from there. There’s a few rooms that are up there too. Easy to check into and out of our room and contact with Villa was great. Our room had had damage to one of the door windows. There was a letter inside stating they would credit us back part of our stay because if it (they did). I actually didn’t notice the window coming in, but did after. I guess I was looking at how pretty it was in the walkway when I opened the door. If you walk up the road there’s a little park & along that street are some great areas to eat & shop. Everything is very walkable. Grocery store is only a couple blocks away. They held our luggage while we sightseed the next day as we did not need to be at the port until 5pm. There’s not a lot of light where mirror is. So I used my hand mirror to do my makeup under the one light. The TV works, but hard to see around the sheers & it’s mostly Spanish channels. Overall it was a great stay and recommend to anyone staying for a night or 2. Great location.

Villa Herencia is a gorgeous, boutique hotel located near the water and El Morro and walking distance to everywhere else!! When you pass through the front door you will find yourself in a beautiful open air courtyard with fountains and tropical plants and a staircase to a roof deck that is magnificent! Cell service is perfect, rooms and beds are spotless and comfortable, bathrooms are perfectly clean and beautiful! The architecture has been maintained with vintage tile floors and stucco walls and vaulted ceilings. It's Extraordinary! The permanent art installation is perfect, appropriate and beautiful. Johnny at the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. We'll always stay a Villa Herencia when we are in Old San Juan for pleasure or business. So happy a friend recommended it!

This is our second visit to villa herencia. both times stayed at h9 , the only double suite room. i missed the daily breakfats(cancelled due to covid restrictions). water and coffee is available. our room had a small pron=blem with the shower head which was fixed quickly. There was s leak of water from the shower floor which required repair, but we temporized it with small towels. The hotel gave us a discount for our troubles. but The hotel is still very nice and away from too much noise . So you can sleep comfortable. It is near la calle de la fortaleza. and San francisco , bustling streets with many shops, restaurants. Old san juan is only 6 square blocks so can be walked comfortably. this hotel is in the middle of everything.

It had a cute little garden up top where you could lounge that was lit up at night. The staff was kind and helpful, and there was a fountain on the main floor which I loved. There was a lock with a code to even get into the hotel which made me feel safe. The bed had a canopy which was very romantic. The location was right in Old San Juan Breakfast was cancelled due to covid which was annoying, but not the hotel's fault.

We visited here as soon as we were fully vaccinated and were very happy with our choice! Ricardo at the front desk was as helpful as could be and the location was the best! This hotel is right next to Hotel Convento and on the square with the cathedral. The pros for this hotel, in our opinion, are as follows: Location! Fabulous architecture Plenty of hot water COVID compliant/awareness Air conditioning worked well Availability of ice for drinks in the common area Staff was extremely helpful Upstairs sundeck/common area was fabulous! Cons: Not quiet due to louvered doors. Loud guests coming back at night sound like they are right in your room! Rooms are small Water pressure is just ok No availability of coffee in the hotel. I understand this is a COVID thing, but it seems like having a pot of coffee available would not be a risk. There is definitely some wear and tear noticeable in the common areas. Overall we would 100% stay here again. We loved how small the hotel is and the personal contact with the staff. We walked everywhere with no problem and felt like it was a wonderful spot to enjoy the few days we had in Old San Juan.

This hotel was great from the beginning to end! Ricardo at the front desk was a total professional and so helpful. This was our first visit to Puerto Rico and he was so knowledgeable of all the main attractions in the area. The room we got was a king in the first floor and the bed is very comfortable and the entire room is very clean👌🏻 The bathroom area was a little small for both us to shower together but the large king side bed made up for it. The room also has an air purifier, and ac unit, along with a little desk area if you want to get some work done ✅ Lastly the roof top terrace hot tub was perfect last night as we had it all to ourselves. Local restaurants, bars, and boutiques all walking distances along with all the historic sites. Bring the most comfortable walking shoes because there is a lot to see. Get your ice for in-room cocktails from front desk before 5pm, the ice machine is not accessible.

We have stayed at Villa Herencia twice. Definitely get one of the sun deck suites if available. H9 has two bedrooms and a small sitting area. Relaxing on the terrace at night is great after a day of exploring PR. Villa Herencia is very quiet and clean and relaxing. Very nice open air spaces. And always smells really good, for what that’s worth. :) great location away from traffic and cruise passengers. we wouldn’t stay anywhere else in old San Juan.

This place is fantastic! A blend of Old San Juan and modern comforts. The architecture models an old hacienda, with a central atrium and rooms on 2 floors. The second floor has a sun deck complete with hot tub, personal tub-pools, and tons of lounging options surrounded by blooming flowers. Walking distance to everything... restaurants, the fort, beaches, etc. And the staff are incredibly accommodating. Need sunscreen? They have it for you. Need to store your luggage on check out day? No problem. And breakfast is included too. We will definitely be back to visit the VHH!
