Overall we had an amazing holiday at this hotel! First impressions of the lobby area and staff on our arrival was great. Our room was well presented and spacious with a lovely view off our balcony. The mini fridge was well stocked throughout our stay, we always had fresh towels and our room was cleaned well daily. We slept well throughout the 10 nights we stayed, breakfast was good we preferred to eat in the Jasmin buffet as there was more selection than the outdoor buffet. At lunch we really liked the jerk hut by the pool and always had hot and flavourful food. We visited a few of the a la carte restaurants during our stay, starting with the knife which we didn’t enjoy unfortunately as the food was not very good. We also ate in the gourmet restaurant, the Italian and the teppanyaki which we did enjoy more but a few dishes were just lacking flavour and quality. The Jasmin buffet was good at lunch and dinner too but later on in service some food items did become dry and cold and didn’t seem to be replaced. The 24 hour room service was really good 4/5 times and we enjoyed the variety of dishes on offer. We relaxed daily by the pool where there was plenty of activities held and music played all day. The entertainment team were amazing, especially Kem aka crazy legs who made sure we were having a good time and was an absolute pleasure to be around! We’d like to give a big shoutout to Shandon from guest experience who went above and beyond for us during our stay, he was a key part in us having such an amazing holiday, we formed a great friendship and we can’t big him up enough! We enjoyed many beautiful walks along the beach from the luxury to grand side, the people working along the beach are all so friendly and are great to speak to providing so much information about Jamaica and helping you to understand the beautiful culture. Overall we had a great experience at this hotel, it is let down by the food at times but this could easily be improved. We would definitely come and stay here again, mainly to see the amazing staff again, that are assets to this hotel!

Resort is beautifully made. Rrequest a room in bldg 25, which has the best view of the resort, preferably floor 5 or 6, floor 7 has 20in TV's in them! The food and drinks were 2/5, I feel very cheated. The fruit was never sweet and savory, the fruit in the drinks were not edible (yuk!) the juices are concentrated and tasted like they were stretched for the entire week, none of the food tasted like it should. The drinks were made with cheap alcohol. Some would claim to have run out of drinks to avoid going up a few steps to get the blender to make it. I blame management for not providing the equipment to help do their jobs. The women cleaning staff were very angry, rude and mean all over the resort. Our room had hair on the sheets as well as in the tub and the floor made the white slippers they provide black on the bottom. We requested the tub be cleaned but what appeared to be pubic hair or other hair still remained around the rim of the tub. Stained pillow cases were left on our bed when room was serviced. House keeping just left the towels and wash clothes in the bathroom along side the tub vs placing them on racks. Pool closed at 6pm! very disappointed. Very small beach area with no room to play ( throw frisbee or ect...) other sanded area was rocky so not good to be barefooted. The Chefs were not real chefs, they didn't even know what vegans eat. One chef suggested chicken, while another suggested fish. One waiter at the Mikado Restaurant was rude, walked off in middle of question then another time in middle of taking order because, "He already said that". It took us 3hrs to finish being served our entire meal at this place! The fried rice was yes, just brown rice! Most of the women workers had very bad attitudes with you. Most of the men workers were great, except the men in the buffet who you'd asks for something and they never come back with it (mutiple times). The DJs at eh pool was awesome, although they played more American music vs. Caribbean music ( I want to feel like I'm in Jamaica, not just at a pool). The rest of the entertainment was just ok because we had to listen and watch them perform the same skits and dances everyday. They deactivated our wrist bands 30mins prior to check-out! So all in all you get what you pay for at this Resort. I give them an overall score of 3/5.

We booked this hotel for my 50th birthday for a group of 6. For us all our 1st time in Jamaica and it was a blast.
After reading mixed reviews we all agreed after 10 days any slight reservations we may have had were blown away as we have nothing but praise and fantastic memories of our stay there.
On our first couple of days we had quite a bit of rain and mixed weather due to a tropical storm, however the entertainment staff brought themselves into the lobby and made the most of it by getting people involved and occupied in activities.
We had a bit of a leak from the air con in our room but was quickly resolved the same morning, so no complaints there. The room was cleaned everyday throughout the duration of our stay, on the one time we did request extra towels we had them delivered quickly by the excellent housekeeping staff.
Our room was on the top floor and was bigger than we expected and always cleaned to a good standard and we never heard the road noise that people had mentioned in other reviews on an evening or the noise from corridors.
We ate dinner in the themed restaurants all but 2 evenings, which we found excellent. some were better then others but on the whole food was very good. The buffet restaurants had lots of choice and was never stuck for choice.
Pool areas / grounds were lovely and clean and constantly being cleaned, never an issue with sunbeds as there was plenty whatever time of day you required them.
The beach area was beautiful, shallow waters with an abundance of fish to see and drinks service on the beach and bar was great.
Drinks and bars were great with great service and never stuck with what to drink as a good range of premium drinks available.
To sum it up we had a fantastic holiday at a lovely resort and the staff were great and always there and could not do enough for you.
We will be visiting again!
Special love and thanks to kemar (Aka crazy leg) who never stops smiling and is constantly keeping everyone happy always entertaining, getting people involved in activities throughout.
Tameika who helped to book us in for dinner at whichever restaurants we wanted to go to and always smiling and helpful.
Charmaine who made our first evening meal memorable with her beautiful singing voice and overall great service, my husband took a shine to her.
Vincent always smiling and positive giving us a great start every morning.
There are just to many staff to thank personally that made our holiday excellent.
Until next time xx

We read the reviews before coming here and we were a little worried. However, we have had an amazing holiday and the hotel has been great with the majority of the staff making it truly memorable.

Jamaica’s Tom Cruise is pick of the bunch on the ents team with his energy & enthusiasm.
Shannette was a bundle of fun, always happy & smiling. Speedy, Thunda, Molly, Kateland & Tishane likewise put in lots of effort to create a party atmosphere.
Even Vincent at the towel dispense makes your day at the start with his bubbly personality.
Anthony the hotel porter is Brilliant & will help you in any way possible to make your stay special.
Pool bar staff are a credit with their antics and laughter.

Picasso restaurant was great food.

We had a birthday on day 2 where we didn’t have a reservation but the staff arranged a booking, a birthday cake with all staff joining in to sing and the room was done up on the day incl a banner on the door. Thank you to Tamika for sorting it all.

Premium drinks such as Grey Goose, Hendricks, Tanquray etc were readily available.

Tips/Advice - Get the Bahia app asap and book your a La carte restaurants early. Any you can’t get in talk to the staff by the front desk. Bring your own reusable straws and thermal cups/mugs for keeping drinks cool. Plenty of dollar notes as tipping for almost everything is customary (although front desk will change larger notes for you). Plugs are a combination of European 2 round pin & America 2 flat pin (some have single round pin too). It is very simple to be connected to a local driver who will act as a tour guide at a fraction of the tour operators prices. We were a group of 7 and had a local driver in a modern 9 seater bus take us to Kingston, Hope Rd for Bob Marley tour, Original Blue hole, Bamboo rafting, Negril for Rick’s Cafe & Margaritaville on 7 mile beach & Luminous Lagoon all for the slightly higher price of a single trip to Rick’s with our tour operator. Bring plenty of mosquito spray.

Yes there are areas that can be improved upon, buffet food is often luke warm, the odd staff member can be miserable (can’t we all at times) & the cleaning of corridors could be done a bit later instead of early morning but don’t let the negative reviews put you off.

This has been a fantastic holiday and Jamaica didn’t disappoint in any way. We go home tomorrow but expect to come back.

Nothing has changed Customer Service still as poor as it was 15 years ago when we stayed here. Only came back to attend a Wedding. Etiquette of staff needs serious improvement. Food is the same everyday. Not enough a la carte restaurants so you end up eating at the buffet every night. Internet is horrible. Disco is hit or miss. Entertainment is mediocre. Water Temperature in the room was either hot or scolding hot. Shuttle Service was great if you tipped them otherwise you could be waiting a long time. Luxury side had no luxuries, bar closes early every night, better off staying on the Grand side and paying less. We spent 90% of our time on the Grand side at the sports bar in the evening. Last day we found out we could pay $38 US for the week to have access to both Grand and Luxury.... Room had links in the ceiling but after them doing nothing to help my Son with his leaking toilet we didn't even bother. No Manager was ever on duty, whenever we asked to speak to one. My Son and his cousin had to share a king size bed because they had no doubles available all week when we saw empty rooms being cleaned after People checked out. It was a horrible experience for first time family members to Jamaica.
Fridge is very small and no microwaves in the room. We later found out by other Guests that the all-night buffet had a microwave, but it was nice walk if you just wanted to heat up some food. When you asked staff, they said there was no microwave we could use. Late night room service food is disgusting, all food is premade and when it arrives in your room its cold. If your there for a Wedding to be sure to tip your Guys so he brings you right to the Gazebo otherwise you will be walking in your good shoes in the sand. Don't look for your room to be cleaned before 5pm, they take all day and then on checkout day they are banging on your door at 7am.
Don't look for premium drinks unless you want to pay extra at the Bar or part of the privilege club.

There were some good things we liked, the Pool and entertainment was great on both sides. Jerk center was very good. Lots of chairs and cabanas around the Pools. We were able to get into one of the a la carte restaurants Mikado, very good food, and service.
Good shopping deals at the Bahia Market, same stuff check market before shopping in the Hotel shops.. Beach on the far side is very nice with its own bar and food pit.

Overall, this hotel needs some serious Customer Service improvements.
For the money it is not worth it, better options in Jamaica.

Stayed here to attend a wedding and even paid extra for the Luxury side which was a mistake, as our experience was far from luxurious.

The good: beautiful grounds, well manicured, lots of choice of pools or beach, the entertainment was good, most of the staff were very friendly.

The bad: We had no air conditioning for the 5 out of 7 days we stayed and they kept saying it was going to be fixed “today”… we also had a cockroach in our bathroom and a lizard in the dining area of our room. Thankfully, the night manager was able to catch and dispose of the lizard after about 30 minutes but we still slept uneasy. That ordeal was the last straw, and I complained to the front desk (4th time), and the Air Canada agent first thing the next morning. The AC agent was extremely helpful and was able to get us into another room on the same Saturday of the wedding which was stressful as we had to change rooms and get ready to attend a wedding soon after.

At the Japanese restaurant and in the dining room buffet restaurants we saw cockroaches crawling on the walls. At the Japanese restaurant we alerted the cook who killed the cockroach on the spot. Needless to say, we left the cook table after that. It’s unfortunate that we paid for luxury but got the complete opposite. Fortunately I was able to eventually get a small refund after filing a complaint to the travel operator and hotel during our stay, but it should have at least been 5 days refunded. Most definitely would not stay at this hotel ever again.

We booked the luxury side expecting luxury for 1 week. We paid over 2700$ CAD per person.
Cons:
.The rooms are dirty (we changed 2 times! 1st facing work site and dirty bathroom, second sewage backing up in shower). All the rooms have a strong smell of mildew and need updating badly
.You don't get the services you've paid for (all the à la carte fully booked, bars running out of fruit juice at 1pm, no bars open at all on the beaches, a lot of the restaurants closed even though they post that they are supposedto be opened)
.Sellers/drug dealers on all the beaches and like a lot of them (15+) all the time
.80% of the staff has an attitude and will roll their eyes at you when you are obviously annoyed with what is going on or are just asking a question
. You have to tip all the time if you want good service or even just a smile
.The luxury side, that you pay more for, has no real extras or luxury for that matter. It's the same as the other side but without children
.Nobody really knows what is going on or is doing anything to make your stay better
Pros:
.The food is really good
.20% of the staff is really friendly even when not tipped
.The beach workers work really hard all day long cleaning season weed and collecting glasses

All in all, it was a very disappointing stay and we will not come back or recommend this place.

Sadly 3 star at best.
Having read lots of reviews before going, we still went with an open mind. We really should have listened to the reviews. If you want loud, trashy, poor food and even poorer service then this hotel is fine, otherwise please do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.

On arrival we were greeted with the usual cold flannel, but no welcome drink, disappointing after a 8.5 hour flight followed by sitting on a coach for over an hour. We were shown to our room, a junior suite, with did not overlook the sea, but in hindsight this was not a bad thing, due to the constant loud music from the pool area, which started around 9.30am and went on continuously until around 5pm.

Our room was fine, it was clean, with everything working, however we had no plug sockets at either side of the bed and just one near the kettle/tv, so not great if you want to charge anything, no USB ports either. The socket in the bathroom fell out every time we used the hairdryer. Our room was kept spotless throughout our stay, however the mini bar was hardly ever stocked, and it had very limited drinks in it. We had to constantly track down the guy to get replacements, not good for supposedly 5*.

The beach at the adults side was ok, it might be improved if they provided ashtrays, as the beach was covered in cigarette butts. We didn't really have an issue with the seaweed when we were there, it didn't cover the beach, just a bit in the sea, however it is very rocky/stony in the sea, so be warned. On the whole this was a peaceful area, with no loud music booming, so we spent most of our days there.

The food in the buffet areas was very poor, usually cold and sometime not even cooked properly and the service was shocking from some of the staff. The a-la carte's was great, if you could get a booking, but unless you wanted to eat at 6.30pm, then you stood no chance. Even with the butler trying to help.

The entertainment was average, but the staff do work really hard.

This hotel needs money spending on it and needs the people at the top to actually listen to it's customers. Not everyone wants an 18-30 holiday atmosphere, especially when it is described as luxury.

During our stay, they appeared to be taking up perfectly good grass and replacing it with other grass. I am sure this money could have been better spent on sorting the other most important issues out. Having nice looking grass maybe good, but if the beach is covered in rubbish and the rooms need decorating, mould sorting, then this should be their priority.

Overall a very disappointing holiday, have certainly had far better in other carribean resorts and would certainly not return.

We did discuss our issues with the management, who appeared to listen, but this hotel needs investment.

Not strict at all, we just returned from there and myself and two other guys wore short the 6 times out for Ala Cartes. Nice short and a collared shirt will do, even a nice t-shirt we saw.
