Highly recommended. The location was beautiful. Free-I was great, helpful with everything and really made our stay. Many lovely things to do near by. You will find the area much less expensive than more popular tourist areas. Food was fantastic. Room was clean and comfortable.

This place is an absolute paradise. It is off the beaten path of the traditional tourist areas of Jamaica but easy to get to. The bay is large and shallow with gently lapping waves, great for snorkeling. Free- I is a great host and I loved that he has many pf the plants on the property labelled for identification. Owen is an amazing chef and made the best fish dish I have ever eaten. If you want crowds of people and swim-up pool bars, this is not the place for you. If you want to feel like you are alone in your own tropical paradise perfectly suited for swimming, bird-watching and hammock relaxing you will not be disappointed. I loved the sound of the peepers at night and they lulled me to sleep but they are loud and might not be music to everyone's ears. My partner was glad he had ear plugs with him. Overall I can't recommend Zion country highly enough and I will definitely be back.

Had an amazing three nights here with my boyfriend. The location is excellent; a few steps down the stairs (surrounded by a beautiful garden) and you’re at the beach/ocean, which has a really nice warmish temperature. Free-I is the coolest dude, I could listen to his stories for hours. Owen is a very kind man and a great chef. The community is also very pleasant; no hustlers here; just kind and welcoming people. It’s very easy travelling to the nearby Reach falls, beaches and other spots. I would definitely recommend this place.

If you want to be out of the tourist loop in Jamaica and enjoy the culture, people and beautiful scenery visit Portland and Zion Country Beach Cabins. My stay took place from 10-15 Feb. 2019. This was my 3rd trip to Jamaica, my mother's first and I always look for authentic experiences when I travel.I booked directly online through their website. When we arrived-I was with my Mum who is 82- a note was on the fence that the host was out but we were able to let ourselves in and take in the room and the grounds. It was quiet , beautiful and really quite idyllic. The cook Owen greeted us soon after. We hadn't eaten and arrived in late afternoon but Owen escorted us to get something to eat down the road as dinner hour was over at Zion. Our room was the one with private bathroom and it was of course basic but clean and comfortable. We ate dinner every night after at Zion and the food was so delicious. One night chicken curry was on the menu and it was the best I have tasted. Every meal was good. Owen should be proud. Tamara served us breakfast and was the housekeeper. She was sweet and helpful. We enjoyed every interaction with them both. Free I was a good host. He is definitely himself around his guests and we had some fun, interesting conversations with him. Other guests that arrived after us were lovely also and we had some nice interactions. Free I was also informative about excursions and places to see in the area. Reach Falls is not to be missed. The drive up the hill to Reach Falls is also so wonderful. We loved walking around Port Antonio and Free I gave us a head's up on the Craft Market. I cannot say enough about the grounds at Zion. They are amazing. Eating breakfast and having hummingbirds and other lovely birds flying around us was incredible. I am not a bird watcher per say but like them and you see so many different species. Please also walk the neighbourhood /community if you go. The residents are so receptive and kind. That is how you learn the culture of Jamaica. Meeting the residents who don't work in tourism necessarily. Hands down would recommend Zion Country. Thanks to Free I , Owen and Tamara. Sincerely , Laurel

We've had a lovely stay at Zion Country beach. Portland is the place to be if you want to experience ''the real Jamaica'. Free I is a great host, Owen the best cook and Tamar good-natured and friendly. The resort has an amazing view, the rooms are very clean and the garden is beautiful. But what we liked most was the hospitality of the owner Free I. He arranged the transfers from and to Montago Bay and 3 very attractive excursions for a reasonable price. We arrived as guests and left as friends. Thanks Tamar, Owen and Free I !
