Whenever our family travels (as often as possible, please!) we make use of TripAdvisor to find individually owned and operated places to stay. Such accommodations maximize our opportunity to experience a destination as fully as possible. We rely upon reviewers who seem like-minded in their sensibilities about travel in order to make our selections, and we have yet to regret...

Wilks Bay Resort was an excellent choice for our family vacation. Located in a secluded bay of coral and warm water, this oasis is also perfectly situated to explore a friendly and flavorful area of Jamaica, thankfully far away from the mega-resorts. Our two bedroom apartment was spacious and clean, perfect for two adults and two teenage boys. Meals on...

This private seaside resort was nothing short of spectacular and far exceeded our expectations. Everything and everyone were great. The staff were plentiful and very well trained and quite friendly and professional at the same time. James and Mary run a 1st class operation and were wonderful hosts. Can't wait for our next visit....

My husband and I went to Wilks Bay on our honeymoon and had a fantastic time! It was everything we wanted and more! The Short Version: We are not into the big touristy types of places so this was perfect for us- relaxing, intimate, and authentic. Mary and James are wonderful hosts and feel more like good friends. They will...

getting to Port Antonio isn't easy, but that is part of the charm once you arrive. It is remote, green, and unspoiled. Wilks Bay is a lovely place to stay and James and Mary were as kind and accommodating as one could hope for. There is no restaurant which is fine because they provide a private chef in your room...

James and Mary were wonderful hosts, from the moment we started planning our trip to insuring that our driver got us to the airport in Montego Bay safely and quickly. Our accommodations were exquisite and our housekeeper/cook Nadine went out of her way to make our meals and apartment memorable. The resort is located in an area that doesn't have...

If you are looking for a glimpse of an off-the-trodden-path Jamaica, away from the maddening crowds, Wilks Bay is the perfect place to stay. Small and intimate, quiet and peaceful, there is still enough to do to during the day to satisfy one's need for adventure: kayaking, rafting the Rio Grande, hiking up Reach Waterfall. At night, there is a...

Quaint small resort owned and run by a family. Tranquility, great snorkeling, kayaking, good food. An ideal getaway. Spectacular view of the bay from any room. Walking distance to Frenchman's Cove and San-San beaches. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful.

We just returned from our 3rd visit to Wilks Bay and are already dreaming of the next time. Why? Well it's pretty clear we love the place, and the Lowes (James, Mary and Nadia). For us, it feels more like visiting close friends. We returned this time with another couple who were with us last time, as they too have...

Wilks Bay will not offer you the 'generic big-box caribbean beach resort' holiday that it seems some people are still drawn towards. What it offers is a much more genuine and authentic taste of a truly amazing part of the world. The accommodations are spacious, quiet, clean, and comfortable. There are no marble floors, opulent chandliers, or pool attendants with...
