Overall my family and I had a wonderful vacation and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Jamaica! Our children had never been out of the USA before so they were thrilled. Our room was perfect being that kids had their own room but there was a private hallway joining our rooms and the ocean view was perfect. Thank you very much!!

Hotel's Favorite
First of all I want to say how good this resort is, ignore any bad reviews it’s fabulous and they take really good care of you. Let’s start at the beginning, the hotel is beautiful very well looked after. Check in was easy and the welcome rum punch was a very nice touch after such a long journey. The suitcases were taken to the room for us which was fab. The rooms are very nice, clean and spacious. The mini bar very well stocked. Downside on the rooms compared to other 5 star hotels we have stayed in was the optics was empty and no bathrobe/slippers. Also a nice touch seen in other hotels is chocolates left on the pillows by the maids during downturn. Other than that rooms were great. We had a sea view room in block 3 perfect location and view. The hotel , beach pools etc are stunning and you can see by the photos. I would say the best part of the hotel is the beach being so nice and so close. The drinks service was good and the selection of drinks on offer was very good. An extra touch would be to offer nuts/pretzels at night with drinks which we have seen in other 5 star hotels. The buffet food is out of this world very tasty and soo much choice , one of the best buffets we have been to. On the other hand the a la cartes were ok, not bad not great but nice and ok so we spent most of the week in the buffet as it was soo good. The jerk hut and snack bar was excellent too. The entertainment was good but quite repetitive not sure if that’s due to reduced capacity in the hotel. The staff at the hotel are the best we have come across very attentive and always happy they can’t do enough for you. They made everyday absolutely perfect and are a great asset to the hotel from the restaurant servers to the cleaners and pool cleaners all are excellent. We loved this hotel it was excellent and although some things require a slight improvement we would still book to come back again and now wishing we had stayed longer. Thanks again for an amazing week.

My husband and I went to Riu Palace Tropical Bay for our 5 year wedding anniversary. Our hotel room was adorned with Anniversary decorations which was very nice. Two days after our arrival, we decided to get some snacks from the 24/7 lounge on the resort. My husband had a coke and 2 hotdogs. I had a hot dog and nachos. The hot dog wasn't really to my liking and my husband didn't really like his hot dogs either. Next day my husband got sick and had diarrhea every day for 4 days and couldn't keep anything down. We were unable to do anything and one night I went in the lounge to get a drink and noticed bugs in the drink dispenser area. The night I went had 2 Hispanic managers on site and I told them and showed them. Not sure what's going to happen but that's really a health code violation. Everything else was great. We definitely want to come back but we will avoid the lounge like the plague.

The clearest sea I have ever seen, beach is beautiful. Our room looked had a garden and sea view which was lovely and the shower wasn’t very powerful but all in all nice room. Restaurants:- Steak restaurant excellent. Not keen on the others at all and the buffet could do with some rotation on dishes

Had a pleasant experience at this resort. Got welcome drinks on arrival. Check in was quick and smooth and got a free upgrade to ocean view. Room was clean and modern. Well maintained. Beach was absolutely phenomenal. Sunset was impeccable.we saw starfish and other fish and the watrt was crystal clear. We did see a stingray at one point. The main nuisance at the beach were the vendors. They were there constantly. Most would accept a simple no but some were persistent. In my view this is the major sore point for the hotel. Pools were nice. Food was good overall. Buffet had a wide selection. Throughout our trip we got oxtail, curried goat, shrimp and a lobster dish. Restaurants were good - reservations not required. First come first serve. Drinks were good. Customer service was good. Only had one poor experience with a young lady at the lobby bar. Entertainment was good too. Overall had a good experience and a great vacation. I would return :)

Never disappoints! Celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary there in September. Newly renovated since our last visit and it was amazing. The beach is one of the best we have been to and the resort is top-notch and impeccably clean and the buffet is the best we have experienced at any all-inclusive. Have to give kudos, especially to the reception staff and to Damien who is in the buffet in the am and lunch and to Carvalho who is in the buffet in the evening. They both went above and beyond to make our anniversary so very special. They are both great assets to the Riu chain. Hope to go back again very soon.

Travelled with my spouse to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We did our research before booking and were pleased with our choice. Positives: Great resort on a great beach. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Pools and restaurants clean. Food was very good. A la carte dinners were all excellent. Good breakfast buffet. Bar service was better than expected. The beach is amazing. Water was clean (no seaweed). Negatives: Check in was hectic. Understaffed. We arrived at hotel at 1pm and room was ready at 4pm. Pretty standard. But...by 6pm luggage had still not been delivered to our room so I had to go get bags from the reception and carry them back to my room. No bell service. We also never received beach towel cards in our welcome package that you need to get towels. But the biggest complaint is the restaurant booking process. They DO NOT take reservations and its first come first serve at the a la cartes, They only do two sittings...630pm and 8pm...but you have to line up 15-20 mins before that time and no guarantees you will be seated, We were not told this by hotel staff...you are left on your own to figure this out, Very frustrating,

The holiday was a present from my parents for my 50th birthday and I came as a single parent with my two teenage children which was a bit daunting and particularly as my son has been suffering from severe anxiety prior to the holiday. Our first encounter at the hotel was at check in with the lovely Delroy who was an absolute delight and a credit to the hotel. He helped out when we had a problem with the room and I was amazed a week later when we bumped into him and he greeted me by name and asked how my holiday was going! Amazing customer service ❤️ I would agree with other comments about the female staff who we found very rude and unfriendly especially in the buffet restaurant and this was very disappointing. The breakfast and lunch were very enjoyable in the buffet especially the stations where you can enjoy individually made omelettes and stir fry but we found the evening menu very repetitive and much preferred to eat in the specialist restaurants. The steak house being our absolute favourite and we ate there several times - the lobster was amazing. The Jerk hut during the day was also a favourite. The beach was absolutely beautiful and where we spent the majority of our time, the water sports were also great but I was rather annoyed when my son was told he couldn’t use the facilities again until we gave a tip! The holiday though was made for me by a couple of individuals who set us at ease from the day we arrived until we departed. Firstly Kevon, the most amazing waiter - I appreciate he was only doing his job but it was always with the biggest smile and you actually felt he loved his job, unlike a lot of the others! He waited on us every day on the beach, regularly refreshing our drinks and did not expect rewarding for it, although when we gave tips was very grateful. The entertainment team I felt did the most fantastic job and although they worked such long hours they were always upbeat and full of fun and again there were a few who went out of their way to put us at ease and were particularly friendly, Energi, Danelle and Advance but one in particular who absolutely made our holiday and that was TJ. My son was struggling with so many people around and was preferring to spend his time in the room or on quiet spots on the beach. I explained to TJ about his anxiety and he made it his mission to give my son (and ultimately me) the best holiday ever. By the end of the holiday he had him joining in the daily games on the beach, he would come and check in with us at the evening entertainment to ensure he was ok and to my absolute delight even managed to get him on stage dancing and with a huge smile on his face, I cannot tell you what this meant to me. This man goes out of his way to ensure your enjoyment. The evening entertainment was another highlight of the holiday, the external shows were amazing but the best for me was the staff performing the night of rock on our last evening - absolutely spectacular and these guys work from 9am often until midnight, their energy is infectious and so admirable. Overall a truly fantastic holiday.
