I absolutely loved this resort and my vacation here! I went for an early birthday trip by myself and it was such a great decision. It’s farther out than some of the other tourist areas so it’s quieter and cleaner. They have everything you could ever want at the resort including unlimited food and drinks. I loved the buffet. There were SO many choices it was overwhelming! The staff were absolutely incredible. Top notch staff and they were all so professional. This place is super super clean and pristine. I literally didn’t see even one piece of trash anywhere on the grounds while I was there. The beach is right there, just steps from your room. The water is clear and warm! I loved the different pools they have. If you want a party pool with the bar they have that or a sports pool to do laps or a lounge pool to relax. It’s just incredible. They also had amazing entertainment every night. My favorite was the Steel Band. I had a massage at the spa and loved it. I also worked out in the gym every day and it was well kept and maintained. Honestly I was surprised at how quiet, beautiful, clean, and well maintained the property was. I spent a luxurious 9 days at Riu Tropical Bay Negril. I cried when the taxi picked me up to take me to the airport. Cant wait to go back!

We and 3 of our daughters went snorkeling with Captain Nemo and Julie 2 days ago. It was really fun seeing pirate ruins, reefs, lovers cave, and beautiful fish. Hotel Riu Palace Tropical Bay was amazing! Everyone is so kind, happy and helpful. Spotlight makes everyday fun along with Chocolate Thunder, Bubbles and all the Entertainment. We will definitely be back. Greg, Martha and family!

Just got back from 5 days at the Riu Palace with my son. Place is on-point. Huge beach; clear water; good food; excellent staff with a special shout out to Diamond, Kristoff, and the girls at the front desk who all remembered our names and made our stay even nicer. Best night for entertainment that we were there was the steel band and I'm pretty sure it was Saturday night. A MUST do is the pub crawl with Lenbert. email him at bananaznegril@hotmail.com. Tip him nicely as he will take you to the hidden gems along the beach at the west end along with his house that has a bar in the yard run by his lovely wife. Email him weeks before you go as sometimes the bus fills up quickly. My son and I went twice in 5 days, unreal scenery. This was my 5th time on the bus and plan to go every year.

Our 30 year anniversary visit was to be special and full of memories, good ones, just like the two times 26 and 30 years before. The place is beautiful and located in a gorgeous piece of the seven mile Negril beach. The staff if friendly and kind as you enter and get situated. Our room clean and accommodating. Bed was fine and we slept well, at least the first two nights. That's pretty much the end of the good side of things. Now, I totally understand we are just now slowly edging out of a pandemic so we try to be a little forgiving,but...potential guests need to know what can happen when you visit this flagship Riu location. First..the food at the specialty restaurants at this all inclusive was lacking flavor, had strange sauces on the main dishes that made them unpalatable to many, and portions definitely modest in size. Deserts there were not robust in flavor or something to remember. Drinks tasted watered down. Most original alcohol taste that we found was the standby red stripe from the can, not the tap. The standard buffet was best for all meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very tasty and good food appeared enjoyed by other guests as well. Not the uncooked..literally..uncooked yellow rice provided with shrimp from the outdoor pool grill and jerk hut. When we asked the chef about the rice issue we were told they had a problem with cooking the rice due to a flame issue earlier. So we did make the management aware of the food issues when asked by a lady surveying guests about our experience. We are not picky people and do not take complaining as fun, and rarely say anything. We tipped on almost everything even though you arent required to, I know it is appreciated. Some things are fixable & guests should know what they may experience. I won't go into any more food issues other than to say if your a big eater, you will probably still hit the buffet after your specialty restaurant dinner, I did see some do that. To reiterate again, the staff working here are very welcoming and kind. Issues being discussed are beyond their doing. Management needs to be involved. Here comes the big issue we experienced. Our nice, oceanfront room all of a sudden was without water. Toilet would not flush, no handwashing or shower. And upon calling front desk was told they have an issue on the property & are working on it. 5 hours later, no change, I walked to front desk and spoke with another customer complaining that his wife had vomited and he could not use toilet or water & asking how long..to the lonely person working behind the desk. I also asked him how long and was told probably by morning as it was an underground issue. Now I know of the laid back island attitude, and that's fine..but when your wife's on her anniversary vacation, or sick as was the other guests case and basic things like cleaning and going to the restroom are a major issue...life gets a little dicey. we do expect health & sanitation issues to be dealt with & possibly find an accommodating resolution for the room elsewhere that works..if that exists. Which this sole worker did not know what else to do. I asked for a maintenance person to come to the room and look at toilet to see if that could at least be fixed.. he came, looked and could do nothing. I said i would like a room of equivalency and the maintenance man checked and helped us to another room. We are not sure why this resolution wasn't offered at front desk offered no resolution but after suggesting it to a maintenance man. He could make it happen. Management issue again. So if you are thinking of visiting Riu Tropical palace, I hope your experience is better than ours. Management issues that are fixable if addressed. Customers are excited and ready to travel, but not to this type of experience.

Donell in the Riu entertainment group was absolutely wonderful. He remembered my name and made sure to say hi every morning knowing I was a solo traveler. As for the hotel, it was wonderful as well. I will return again due to the friendly and safe environment.
