The property was beautiful and well kept. The staff was very friendly helpful. Andrew the bartender at the pool is an awesome person, enjoyed his service. Looking forward to bring my daughter here soon.

I arrived at the hotel and it looked nothing like the images. It was raining, the sky was not blue, AND birds were flying everywhere. It was loud AND dogs were constantly barking. I even saw I pizza fly out of the sky! Do not recommend this beautiful location AT ALL. It was a pleasant experience, thank you very much! - Marge

Pros -Service from attentive and we want to help, to you are bothering me. No in between. Cons -Only one restaurant open. The website doesn't mention this, which could be a factor in your resort pick. -Property feels older.

The service upon entry was exceptional! The staff greeted me and my lady by saying, "Welcome home" and that communicated way more than one could expect. All the facilities were clean and fresh. The rooms were so cozy and comfortable that it was difficult to leave the room at times. The food was exceptional every single day! I only wish they had more vegan options, especially proteins to really power up a meal. Tne Entertainment department was out of this world! They never ceased to put on a show and really knew how to build a vibe. It was an experience I would gladly revisit any day!

I've written a few reviews about other RIU resorts and swore to never go back, but I was going on a group trip and the RIU palace is supposed to be top of the line so why not give it one last try. I will say that the Jamaicans in general are doing a great job with covid-19 precautions. There were temp checks and sanitation stations all over the resort. the hotel is pretty large and the rooms at the end of the property can be quite a long walk from the pools and dining. Most of my party were given rooms on the 3rd floor, and none of the buildings have elevators or handicapped accessibility. Due to covid, the mini bar on the wall in the rooms is empty (im fine with this) but they could provide beer and water in the fridge. My biggest dissatisfaction here is about the food and drink situation. There was only 1.5 restaurants open for 5 of our 6 days. The jerk chicken shack from 12-3pm and the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel frowns up on guests removing food from the buffet restaurant however, after dinner shuts down (at 10:00 pm) There is nothing to eat but nachos and cheese until 7 or 8 am the next day ( during my visit in november 2020 room service was not an option). the one time i dont bring my snacks is the time i need them the most. The entire resort shuts down promptly at 11pm with the exception of the snack bar where you can get the aforementioned nachos, some soda, or beer. Like they turn the lights off and everything. The nightly 9pm entertainment was great though. There were local performers doing traditional dances, karaoke nights, and the host was most entertaining and amusing. The pool area is nice however the pool bar was not open, again due to covid restrictions) but the bar behind the pool was open. There was an occasional server who'd bring drinks but mostly we rock paper scissored who was going to get out of the pool to go to the bar. The beach could use some work. It just didnt feel very well kept. I did however, get an excellent massage and pedicure in the hotel spa. Would recommend for anyone staying here. Overall i dont recommend this resort.
