This property is so very special…and sexy y’all!. This was my favorite tropical vacation ever. It checked all the boxes that we wanted: quiet, relaxing, beautiful, unique, great food and drinks. We were hoping to get away and reconnect and The Caves was the perfect place to do that. the Caves is very close to Rick’s if you want a little bit of the party vibe, but we were happy to just swim and soak up the sun, read and relax. We are already planning our next trip!
My husband and I just returned from our trip to the Caves and we can't wait for another opportunity to return. The staff and service was over the top. It was such a quaint and intimate experience. Everyone truly wanted to make sure you were content your whole stay. We stayed in the Blue Dolphin, which was a king size bed, super comfortable! The food was great. This was a new type of all-inclusive for us, with smaller menus. They had a menu and drink of the day, along with a full bar. The meal choices were wonderful. I encourage you to try all the fish and authentic Jamaican meals they have to offer because if you just step outside the box a little, the meals are absolutely delicious. They also had other menu options, your typical chicken, steak, seafood options, all amazing! Since it's a small property, the staff would switch over from the breakfast/lunch/daytime bar area to prep for dinner in the restaurant. If there is no bartender available, You can help yourself behind the bar! The property had so many unique chill areas to hang out. Explore everywhere and around! It's really incredible. I didn't realize Negril was known for the cliffs and cliff jumping. They have a bunch of cliff jumping areas around the whole resort. It was absolutely a blast! We will miss our Caves fam--Jamoi, Floyd, and Glen truly pampered us!!! I loved the concept of this resort. We really enjoyed ourselves. 10 out of 10 recommend.…
We just returned from a 5 day stay at the Caves (it was supposed to be 6 full days - but airline delays robbed us of a day). I need to preface this with the fact that we have travelled to Jamaica quite extensively - as a couple, with our kids, with our extended family - so we aren’t exactly rookies! We have stayed at Sandals, Beaches, Couples, and several other resorts on the island, some of which are no longer around - and never once have we left saying “we have to go back there”. On the day we were packing to leave The Caves, we were already looking into booking our next stay there. THAT’s how special this resort is. In addition to our many visits to Jamaica, we have also travelled extensively around other islands in the Caribbean and I can say with confidence that The Caves is truly something special. The location, the people, the FOOD - it was all amazing. That being said, I do think it is important that you understand what The Caves is about and that is may not be for everyone. The Caves is unique, and magical - it is laid back and relaxed in one of the most interesting and amazing locations. (You know you’ve chosen well when the other resorts are bringing their guests by the boat load to view the resort and snorkel.) BUT it is not a big box luxury resort. There are no butlers brining you drinks on trays, there aren’t 10 different restaurants on site or a huge buffet with hundreds of food option, in fact, there aren’t even screens on the windows in your room - which means you may see a bug or two during your stay. But, the resort is true to its history, the rooms are all unique and comfortable. We stayed in the Sundancer - it was a little bigger than we needed, being a 2 bedroom suite, but we will be booking it again as the lovely deck above gave us a great place to watch the sunset in the evening, and the deck and table below were the perfect place to play games and just chill. And the outdoor shower was perfect - we literally never used the shower inside. I was a little worried about all the comments about getting to know all the other people due to the small size of the resort. When we travel as a couple, we value our “alone time” and we DID meet pretty much everyone else who was staying there, but it was just the right amount of company. We would sometimes sit together for a meal or take a yoga class together, but everyone there is very relaxed and we found it all to be very welcome and not at all intrusive. (Note that the restaurant where you have breakfast/lunch has literally 4 tables - one table for 2 people, 2 tables for 4 people, and 1 table for 8 people - you WILL end up eating with someone else at some point during your stay) The ability to make your own drinks at the bar in the evening was awesome. The resort itself is very quiet but there is some noise from Rick's Cafe which is across the Bay but that was actually quite pleasant, though, as it added a bit of ambiance to the trip. This review is getting very long, so I will try to cut it off with a couple of final points - we were worried we would miss beach access (having been to Negril’s amazing beaches before) - we did not miss the beach AT ALL; the snorkeling was fantastic - we did the guided tour the first day to scope out the best spots (just slightly outside of the swimming area); food was fantastic and just the right amount, very traditional and freshly cooked (although, and sorry to say, the jerk chicken was a little disappointing); the hot tub at sunset was insanely beautiful; and the cave dinner was just amazing; the rum tasting with Brad was a hoot….and the staff, they were all so chill and friendly - especially the life guard who coached my husband through jumping off the cliffs! (I’m sorry I’ve forgotten your name - we took too long to write the review!) Similarly, special shout out to the entire breakfast crew! Thank you to the Caves for an amazing experience - we WILL be seeing you again in 2023! Nancy (and Derek)…
I don’t even know where to start. We stayed for 7 wonderful days. The food was fantastic. I wish I could have eaten more! We began sharing our breakfast and lunches. A great tip is getting the combo for supper to experience both entrees. Food and drinks are always available. The staff was wonderful! Thank you Obrian for giving us a great kayak and snorkeling experience. He gave us a lot of information about the area and showed us lots of interesting things. Glen was always great especially for our cave dinner. Thank you for the great drink “dirty banana”. What an experience to have great food in an awesome location to admire the natural beauty of the caves. The property is really that beautiful! So many areas to explore and relax in. No fighting for space. The bars are well stocked with lots of choices. Drink of the day were also a great option. I could go on and on. There are a lot of stairs to the water and the only way out of the water is to climb up a ladder. It gets a little hot in the afternoon with the lack of shade waiting for the beautiful sunsets. The ride to and from the airport is about an hour and a half. The Caves is definitely on my want to visit again list!!!…
We enjoyed the Butterfly Room and had totally amazing spa treatments every day. The therapists were fantastic practitioners and so kind and friendly they really made our visit special. The meals were delicious and freshly prepared to order. The caves were fun to explore and we had my sister's birthday dinner in there. Truly one of a kind experience. I would stay here again for my next trip to Jamaica!!
From the moment you arrive the staff make you feel like you are special. The food was amazing, the service impeccable. The views are outstanding. The waters are warm, the property is magical. They live by One Love motto. We stayed a week and never felt the need to leave the resort. Plenty to do, jump off cliffs, snorkeling, kayaking, dining at every meal was spectacular and immense choices for every pallette. The cocktails were refreshing, and unique. Healthy options of fresh coconut water, locally sourced fruits and vegetables, no preservatives, no gmo, free range meats, incredible seafood over the top! Great place to immerse and indulge in being you, no judging.
Stayed for two nights. Staff was very welcoming. Views are insane. Two bars were available with or without a bartender. The rooms were dated. Furniture and bedding was not comfortable at all. Water pressure was very low but assumed it would be due to the dates appearance of decor and grounds itself. We did jump off the cliffs and had a great time but there were only 2 ladders that worked so we were limited on where we could jump. Overall it was an amazing experience but I would love to see the place updated and overhauled for the better.
I would highly recommend this place. So relaxing. - All inclusive (with no restrictions and no buffet food, but nicely served). Even at the bar there is a sign that says if the bar tender is away, be free to make your own drinks. - Jumping cliffs, same as at Rick's only no fuzz. Just jump when you dare. - Lovely serving people. Brad, Floyd, Rene, Jamoy, and others I now forget, sorry! All great! - Not many other guest - You can go snorkeling anytime or take a kayak for free. - Nice sunsets - Superb cocktails
We stayed in Caves for 4 nights and 5 days, and it was one of the most luxurious, pleasant and homely experience. The staff was amazing and were at beck-and-call all the time - either facilitating water sports , activities, arranging an amazing dinner in the heart of caves, spa and hot tub treatments, going off-menu to attend to private requests (my wife was vegetarian and they made special meals for her). The place itself is set up on cliff side and is the only place where you can have dinner and drinks in the caves that are in the property. That experience itself is out of this world, and no picture or words can describe that. We decided to not venture out too much outside the property - and it was a wise one, especially since we were looking for a relaxing vacation. Thank you Caves team for your service and no wonder your property is listed among world's most unusual properties!…
We just returned from our 8-day honeymoon in Jamaica. The first 4 nights, we stayed at The Caves in Negril. We were so happy with every aspect of our stay! I think it’s important for guests to do their research before booking any all-inclusive, but especially The Caves. It is an incredibly special place but it is not like your run of the mill big box all-inclusive like a Secrets or a Sandals. For most (including us), this was a great thing! It is a smaller resort, with only approximately 15-20 guests staying there while we were there. I liked this, as we were able to really get to know the other guests and also we never had to fight for a sunning spot or pool spot due to large crowds. With that being said, you’re not going to get a massive pool party feel that you can get at the larger, more corporate all-inclusive resorts. For us, this was ideal. Now to get into details about the The Caves . -The Food: The food was INCREDIBLE. Because it’s a smaller resort, it is so clear that every meal is cooked to order. Every dish was fresh and pleasing to the eye and tummy. Typically I feel sick after eating 2 days at an all-inclusive, but the menus at The Caves consisted mostly of Jamaican cuisine, which ends up being primarily Whole Foods like vegetables, rice, beans, and a protein. Every single meal was delicious. Every day there are 2-3 options for lunch and dinner, and a breakfast special in the morning. For breakfast the kitchen can cook you whatever you’d like if you choose not to get the breakfast special. (I highly recommend the Callaloo mixed with scrambled eggs, and the banana pancakes!!!) Every lunch and dinner has a different homemade soup— so fantastic!! Throughout my stay I had curried goat, curried conch, filet mignon, shrimp scampi, jerk chicken, and jerk pork. Each entree more delicious than the next!!! If you are looking for QUALITY over QUANTITY for food, then this is the all-inclusive for you. You won’t have a zillion options at your fingertips, but you will have a handful every day that are fantastic. Finally, I highly recommend reserving a Cave Dinner for one of your stays. What a beautiful, intimate experience! -The Drinks: There was a cocktail of the day each day, but always a full bar and bartenders eager to make you something new. I will see that there is no swim-up bar or servers walking around taking orders. However, if you walked up to the bar and requested them to bring the drink to your sunning spot, they certainly would. Typically there is only one bar open throughout the day/night. The main bar is open early in the morning until like 6 pm at night, and then the dining room bar is open after that. However, we were able to go behind the bar ourselves and grab a beer or a bottle of wine if there were no staff currently manning the bar. Lots of different rums to try of course. The resort is owned by the owner of Blackwell Rum so they definitely carry a lot of that. They did have top label spirits available which was really nice. -The Room: We stayed in the Macaw House/Room which was a 1 bedroom, 2nd floor ocean view suite. The room was huge, and had a beautiful high ceiling, artwork, mini bar, closet, safe, sitting area, and beautiful shuttered windows that opened up to a great view of the ocean. The bed was very comfortable and came with a mosquito net for night time. Our room had a Panasonic air conditioner in there and the room never got too warm. We did use the mosquito nets at night, although I think we would have been okay without them as we closed our windows at night. Bathroom is standard but nice and clean. Housekeeping came daily to clean the room and offered a turn down service at night to assist with setting up the mosquito nets. Overall, a comfortable and special room for our honeymoon! -The Staff: Wonderful. Always so kind and because it’s a smaller resort, they remember you and you remember them which is always nice. Always very personable and service is always quick. -The Resort: If you are looking for a unique experience, come here. There is no beach access on the property, so for those looking for that be aware. The only way into the ocean is to jump in from a cliff. There are various peaks to jump from ( 8ft, 20 ft, 30 ft, 35 ft), but you can also just climb into the ocean from one of the ladders that are built into the cliff. We had so much fun jumping in and everyone cheers for others when they brave one of the higher jumps. The lifeguard and staff will give you pointers if you are a first time cliff jumper. Take note: If you have bad knees or have limited upper body strength, climbing out of the water on the ladders can be a little difficult. I am relatively in shape and I still found climbing up the ladders to be challenging at times. Built into the cliffs are various sunning spots with sunning chairs and sun umbrellas. They offer great views of the ocean and ample space to set up for a day of sunning and relaxation. We never had to look for a spot, as there was always one available. The ocean surround The Caves is picture perfect. You can see so far down and always can see different fish and rays swimming around. The resort offers snorkeling, noodles, flippers, and floats to use in the ocean. I believe they also have kayaks. They do guided snorkeling also. -Events/Activities: There’s 2-3 activities planned each day, such as yoga, cooking class, mixology/cocktail class, snorkeling, etc. We attended the cooking class and learned how to make a traditional Jamaican vegetable soup. They even gave us paper recipe cards to take home. There isn’t too much going on (like your standard all-inclusive) but the activities that they do have are fun! -Commute: Be aware that The Caves is a 90 minute drive from the airport in MoBay. We called the caves before our stay and they coordinated transportation pick-up for us which worked great! Overall, we cannot recommend the Caves more. If you are looking for an intimate and unique all-inclusive, this is your spot! We will be back! :)…
