Charela Inn the discreet charm of peace & tranquility, good company and fine food. Nothing more ... Nothing less. CHARELA INN resort sits elegantly on the famous Negril Beach, by the Caribbean Sea. Its fifty rooms and beach stretches 250 feet in width and 150 feet in depth of pure white sand sprinkled with coconut trees to afford natural shade to our guests. Beyond the sand lies a lawn and two large patios to dine "Al fresco" or simply sip cocktails while watching the sunset. All 59 rooms are built around an inner court yard in an Hacienda style with a round fresh water swimming pool in the center of the yard, and a lush tropical garden with hibiscus, night jasmine, bougainvilleas etc. As well as many birds including our national doctor bird. The feeling is one of being far from the crowds -- yet a few steps away from the world of water sports and many attractions on the seven mile beach. All buildings are of two floors. Each room has either a private patio or a private balcony. All public access at Charela Inn are designed to accommodate the physically impaired, along with three dedicated ground floor rooms. Charela Inn is renowned for the friendliness and caring of its long standing staff, many being with the resort for over 15 years. Charela's longstanding repeat guests of many nationalities brings with them a true feeling of friendship and are cherished by both management and staff.

We had a split day in Negril and decided to stay at the Charela Inn for 3 days and 2 nights under a strong recommendation from many others who had stayed there in the past. This was our second time visiting Negril and we previously had stayed at an all-inclusive which we would be returning to after our stay at Charela. When we arrived we did not see any of the frills of the nearby all inclusive resorts, but the hotel is a charming hacienda style resort with immaculate well decorated grounds and a wonderful staff. We stayed in their newly remodeled Seaview Junior Suites which are very spacious, well appointed and have a beautiful view from your balcony of the Caribbean Sea and the best location on 7 Mile Beach. For those who enjoy spending time in a jacuzzi, your room will be furnished with one these tubs. Charela Inn is also the home of the Le Vendome Restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We cannot speak for lunch, for we had lunch for only one day at a nearby resort because we arrived late in the afternoon and left at 12pm on check out day. We did however, enjoy breakfast and dinner at Charela for two days. Everything was fresh, prepared beautifully and delicious. Now we know why this restaurant has a reputation for being one of the best in Negril! DO NOT forget to ask for their famous home baked chocolate croissants. I promise you that you have never tasted something so delicious and will leave you wanting more! The beach was wide and truly exudes the tropical feel with many palm trees lining the entire front of the resort. The sea, what can I say...one of the best beaches I have seen in the Caribbean, crystal clear, calm and free of seaweed. Grab you tea or coffee in the morning and go to the waters edge. You will see many fish and a beautiful stingray that seemed to go past every morning down 7 Mile Beach.
Jamaica, Seven Mile Beach and The Charela Inn is truly a paradise, I highly recommend this resort. I do not want to bash any other resorts on this beautiful beachfront, but lets say that we spent triple the price to stay at the other resort for our split stay and did not have the hospitality, charming environment, pristine beach and food that we experienced at the Charela. For the remainder of the week, we were wishing we could get back to the Charela but this was not possible for we already paid for our accommodations. When wel return to Negril, this property will be our go to.

This is our home away from home! We visited in July, 2022 and July, 2023. We are coming back in July 2025! There lots of options in Negril, but this unassuming boutique hotel has everything we want. The restaurant on sight is excellent. It is literally steps away from the beach. We travel with our 9 year old daughter, so we are not looking for a loud, party atmosphere , but a place to relax, eat great food, swim and snorkel. While you’re eating your delicious and very affordable Jamaican breakfast, you can feel the breeze from the beach. We also love that you can walk to many other restaurants in just a few minutes. We love eating at Coco Lapalm, which is a 2 minute walk. There is a glass bottom boat (Mike’s) that you can rent to take a snorkeling trip. The staff is efficient and friendly, from house keeping to the front desk to the terrific wait staff. They actually look like they want to be there and enjoy their jobs. They will go out of their way to make this stay special for you. My daughter loves the 17 year old dog named Kush, who lives at the resort. The beach has plenty of palm trees and you don’t even need an umbrella, which is great for me because I really burn. On the beach, lots of vendors will walk by; I did not find them to be intrusive or aggressive. They sell mangoes, Jamaican patties, lobster, hats, horse rides, cakes. If you walk down the beach, you can visit vendors selling jewelry and crafts. You can also order food and drinks from the on sight restaurant and they’ll deliver them to you under your palm tree. The restaurant has jazz music twice per week, I think. It is not too loud and finishes by 9. If you want a party scene, this is not the place for you, although you could walk about 7 minutes down the beach and go to Margaritaville if you like that. But, if you want to chill, this is your place.

Charela Inn is my favorite place to stay in Jamaica. You can see in my pictures (they are not enhanced or edited) that Charela Inn sits on the most beautiful stretch of 7 mile beach in Negril. I walked the entire 7 mile beach and I confirm that Charela Inn has the best beachfront location full of palm trees. The restaurant is excellent! This was my second time visiting Charela and this time I didn’t even dine anywhere else. The staff is warm like your own family. The rooms are immaculately clean. There is A/C, a good size refrigerator with a freezer compartment, a percolator type coffeemaker with coffee and sugar included, a safe for your valuables, a hair dryer in the desk drawer (although the old-fashioned vintage wall hair dryer is still operational!), a small bottle of conditioning shampoo, a small bottle of body lotion, a bar of soap, in each room. If you prefer, you can have your breakfast on the patio in front of your room or you can even have it on the beach! On Thursdays and Saturdays, there is live music at dinner time, and the restaurant gets booked pretty fast, so make sure you make a reservation for your favorite table. The hotel will arrange you the transportation for the price you can’t get anywhere else. Charela Inn is a piece of paradise, a quiet oasis to disconnect and relax.

3 of us stayed in an oceanfront Jr. Suite for a week and it was nothing short of spectacular. The room was clean, comfortable and had a view of the ocean. Every staff person we encountered were friendly and professional, from the front desk, waitresses, bartenders and housekeeping. A special shout out to the life guard, Ty! He raked the beach beautifully every morning and set people's chairs up exactly where he knew they wanted them each day, always with a smile. I will definitely return!

I cannot think of enough nice things to say about this resort. This was our first time to Negril & Jamaica in general and I had done an obscene amount of research for this trip. We switched hotels twice (Couples Swept away > Skylark> Charela) due to budgeting and to be honest I was nervous we were not going to be happy with Charela and it wasn't going to be nice or luxurious enough. I was humbled to say the least. While not the most luxurious or expensive hotel Ive ever stayed in there is something about is romantic, rustic vibe and charm that has made it one of my top favorites. The property is unbelievable- this stretch of beach is absolutely gorgeous, I'd wager that it is the prettiest stretch of beach in Negril. This place is so romantic. The staff was polite and efficient if not overly friendly. There is the sweetest "family dog" named "Kush" that roams the property and beach and we were sad to leave. Our room was immaculately clean. We paid about $700 less per night than friends staying at CSA and our room was twice as large with a HUGE two person tub, a balcony overlooking the live music stage, and beach. The restaurant? 10 out of 10. The absolute BEST Fresh flaky croissants and ham and cheese omelets served to us each morning on the beach or brought to our room. Eating the most decadent Chicken Alfredo pasta while listening to the band and the waves crash just steps away is a core memory. I never thought I would MISS a hotel as much as I do right now. Do yourself a favor and stay here. Request room 315.

We arrived at Charela to a ground thundering storm, the water flooded down as we jumped out of our taxi. By the time we had our cases in the room, the sun was shining again.
Charela is one of the best of the ‘budget’ hotels on Negril’s seven mile strip. Centrally located, the hotel welcomes guests from everywhere: Jamaica, Germany, USA and England etc.
Staff are friendly here and helpful. The breakfast staff Francella and Debbie know exactly what you like after your first visit and get it ready for you. They really are great.
It was the festival week (running from 31 July to 6th August) when we visited and there were lots of loud parties going on at nights on the street and in the event space just down from Charela. However we were only disturbed one night with fireworks banging for around 10 minutes at 4am, however it was great to see so many Jamaicans enjoying the resort.
Sandra, the massage lady, is really good and remembered my mum and dad visiting last year. I had the best reflexology session ever.
The evening meals at Le Vendome are the best in Negril. Reasonably priced and much better and quicker service than some other restaurants we tried locally. They also bring you complementary salads and bread.
The beach attendants weren’t quite as attentive as they could have been, I ended up lifting my own chairs down to the sands a few times, but I do get up early!
The rooms are probably ready for a little refresh but apart from this, we thought Charela was just great. It would be useful to have a kettle in the room as standard, but maybe this is just an English thing – the maids did find me one on request.
The band who played there a couple of times at night were really fab. They have a really talented singer and trumpet player in particular.
Charela is for you if you don’t want the big, expensive, flashy resorts. If you want a more personal experience, low key, good value and to experience the real Jamaican culture.
Well done Charela!

A true gem! We recently stayed there with our 5y old son, my husband and I, and I can't speak highly enough of it. The beach is pristine with crystal clear water, soft white sand and trees/palm trees providing shade.. The service at the hotel from checkin-in to check-out (servers, bartender, beach attendants, etc) was fantastic! I felt that every employee truly cared about the place and wanted to make our stay exceptional. Breakfast was delicious and they had a good selection. The drinks from the bar were delicious..We only had dinner once and it was great. There are many restaurants and bars within walking distance along the beach and on the main road. The room and property was clean, well maintained and had everything you need without the needless frills that simply serve to inflate your bill. You will definitely feel the relaxed Jamaican spirit and atmosphere from the moment you arrive. We will come back again! Thank you for the wonderful experience.

There are many wonderful things about Charela Inn hotel, but one of the best is the fabulous massage therapist, Janet. She is an outstanding massage therapist and reflexologist, and will leave you feeling healthy, whole, and vibrant. I had four 60 minute massages in just seven days and they were better than any I’ve received in the United States. In addition to Janet, there are so many wonderful staff people at this hotel. We have stayed here many times and the staff does not turn over so you make trusted friends. The rooms are beautiful, clean, and the grounds are stunning. The food is delightful and enjoyed while gazing at the ocean and listening two nights a week to lively jazz. The location and the amount of white sand beach under gorgeous palm trees makes Charela Inn an absolute must for your next vacation.

It was a pleasure welcoming and hosting you here with us and happy to know there are only wonderful things about the property to be said, one of the best thing is the fabulous massage therapist Janet who is outstanding at what she does as you have received massages that were better than any you have received in the U.S. I am sure Janet will be appreciative of your wonderful feedback. It is good to know that you found the atmosphere to be calm and relaxing as you have enjoyed the delightful food while gazing at the ocean and listening to the live entertainment available twice per week. Just returned from this facility and I'll be very honest. Just arrived , in the evening and very tired we find a bad reception and the desire to change hotels was so great. The room and bathroom very basic but clean, and sl wake up we realize we are in a non-luxury but clean and in a perfect location to enjoy the best sea. Very American breakfast, for us Italians really the minimum but quality. The dinner well cooked but little varied. No one speaks a word in Italian and this becomes a problem if you do not know English. We've managed, but I'd recommend anyone who wants to go, to just have breakfast. On the beach and full of places to eat. .

If you are looking for a small, friendly, rustic authentic and family run hotel right on the beach in paradise, then please look no further. I wanted to stay away from resorts and big hotels and this was perfect for me. All the staff here work incredibly hard, always very clean. The food is absolutely incredible, very high quality. I stayed her on my own and felt so comfortable, all the staff at reception and the waiters always had a big smile for me and made me feel welcome. Last, but not least the 16 year old dog, kush who looks after the guests and guards the property, she melted me heart. If I ever get a chance to come back to Jamaica, I will most definitely be returning to stay here.
