A great spot for romantics or a destination wedding. Nestled amongst tropical gardens and flowering plants at the edge of Negril, this unique all-inclusive gem is best described as intimate, chic and serene. The resort offers 85 "tree-house-style," elegantly appointed guestrooms on ten-acres of lush landscaping, a design praised by Architectural Digest. Melt away with a soothing spa service in our unique treatment garden, cool off at the swim-up bar with a tropical drink or "chill" at the resort's five beachfront acres and two miles of white sand beach, just steps away. When dining is on the menu, you'll enjoy both international and authentic Jamaican cuisine at four restaurants and bars.

Nestled in a tranquil, jungle-like setting, Sunset at The Palms offers a unique experience with its rustic chic treehouse rooms, as noted by many travelers. Guests have called out the attentive staff and the pristine cleanliness of the well-maintained grounds and facilities. However, some travelers mention that the rooms, while comfortable, could benefit from updates and face occasional issues like A/C problems. The idyllic location with exceptional views is a highlight, although the value perception is sometimes marred by the cost of amenities and the need for more timely room cleaning.

Sunset at the Palms never disappoints....ever!
How often have you read a review of a resort and decided to book based on what you read and then when you get there you go "really!!" the glowing reviews and the actual experiences are light years apart. A recipe for heartbreak and disappointment. That will not happen here. My wife treated me to a special retirement trip several years ago based on the glowing reviews she read and hoped that (with fingers crossed) if half of what she read was true then we would be in for a treat. Well we were delighted to find all the great things we read about were true and our expectations were exceeded. After several years and several return visits we are just as impressed now as we were years ago. This is a Balinese themed resort that is as close to what you may find in Bali without the long flights. Gardens are tropical and a pleasure to walk around in. Small in size (intimate may be a more apt description) they deliver to their clientele what most resorts can't. They respect and value their guest. I use the word guests but after several return visits to Sunset at the Palms you realize that they actually treat you like family. Each time we return we feel like we are back home. With staff that have been part of this resort for years they really do remember you. You quickly realize that there seems to be an unusually high number of repeat customers and each and everyone have the greatest admiration for all the staff. From Kadian and Romeo to Cornelius and Tamika (and all the other team members) you will find that they want to make sure your expectations are met. Do yourself a favour and read the reviews...do your homework...and take the worry out of possibly being disappointed and surrender to a resort who wants you there and not a resort who makes you feel like you are an inconvenience!!

Just about everything at Sunset at the Palms exceeded our expectations. At less expensive places we’ve stayed at in Cuba, Dominican Republic, and the Mayan Riviera, we had to temper our expectations so as to not spend our time somewhat dissatisfied.
Not being on the beach but across a road (there was always a crossing guard to facilitate safe passage) is actually why the place is so magical. It is the property that is the focus, not vistas of the ocean.
The gardening staff work very hard to care for the lush vegetation. The small two-unit buildings are surrounded by palms, bamboo thickets, and lilies, all of which contribute to privacy. Each room has a large deck for lounging. By leaving out breadcrumbs, we easily attracted the many birds that live on site. Our room was totally adequate for our wishes, plus we spent most of our waking hours out and about the resort or at the beach.
All the staff of the resort made certain that our needs were taken care of. Being a small place (160 tourists – 102 staff), the staff were good at knowing our preferences so they could anticipate our wishes.
The food was delicious and the buffets (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) were beautifully presented. Dinner each evening was based on one of six different themes – Jamaican, International, BBQ, Mediterranean, Italian, and Seafood.
One thing to realize, this is a small, intimate resort, with an attractive, but small, pool. If you like to party, or depend on loud music and athletic staff to motivate you to get out of your lounge chair, this is not the place for you.
If you are looking for a vacation destination where you can have a relaxing time to reflect, spend time with a spouse, and recharge your batteries, this is the place for you.
We got into the routine of lounging around and enjoying the pool in the morning. We’d have lunch at the resort or the beach grill. Then we’d spend the afternoon at the beach right through to sunset, which were often spectacular.
At the beach there is space to sit in the full sun, or under palapas or large shade trees. The beach itself is lovely white sand, slowly shelving out to sea.

We were there for ten days and every day was like a day in paradise for me and my wife.

This was our first time in Jamaica and we chose the absolute best resort for our stay. The grounds were exceptionally well kept, the staff were nice, the private beach was amazing, the drinks were flowing, but the food was just so-so. We travelled during the pandemic and felt safer than any location in the states. Regular hand sanitizing, temperature checks and the staff wore their masks at all times. It was eye opening for us that so many people stay at this resort repeatedly. That says A LOT about the service and quality of this resort. One couple we spoke to visited the resort TWICE last year and I understand why. The only drawback for this trip was that there was a group of very loud and needy women that sucked the air out of the room whenever they were nearby. Service suffered slightly as a result, with one breakfast taking over an hour because the group was so bad. Ladies with big attitudes, disrespect for others and entitlement issues do that regardless of where you are so I can't fault the resort. Make sure to visit the Martini bar while you're there. You'll be happy you did...chocolate martini and the Sunset at the Palms martini were outstanding. Also try the Jiggy coffee which is a great way to start your day! Visit nearby Calico Jacks for great snorkeling and lunch, it was well worth the short taxi ride and entrance fee.

Just returned from a 14 night stay & in the circumstances of the crisis that has gripped the entire world have nothing but praise for the resort & particularly the staff at sunset at the palms. This is quite a small adult only all-inclusive resort with its own stretch of beautiful beach in bloody bay, negril.
The resort is beautifully kept with lush gardens in which the guest lodges are located all around the resort buildings where restaurants, bars & pool are. We spent our days at the beach which is just over the road where there's a bar & grill available for guests which was great. The main restaurants were also terrific with even the buffet providing wonderful food choices.
Obviously this was not a typical holiday & whilst we were there most of the hotels in the area were shutting down due to covid19 but the staff despite their own undoubted concerns did everything to ensure our stay was perfect & we were, in the end the last guests to leave.
We met lots of guests that had visited numerous times & we completely understand why they did, the staff, all of them including gardeners, cleaning, chefs, bars & front desk were amazing an absolute credit to the resort.

We'll definitely be joining the red band gang.

thanks from Mat & Clare

We were told tips were included, but if you dont tip you will feel like a second class guest. When you have a queue at the bar, the ones with a tip in their hand would be served first. Want a sunbed at the beach under a sun shade ? Then you will have to tip the staff at the beach. All the sunbeds under sun shades at the beach had towels & floaties on them, even when you are the first to the beach in the morning & some of those sunbeds aren't used until the afternoon.
The sunbeds at the beach are uncomfortable, they do not recline, they are old & dirty, they let the resort down. The ones at the pool are much better & cleaner.
If you want lunch at the beach you will be in a long, slow queue. The food is inconsistent, sometimes very good, other times under cooked. Also they quickly run out of food choices & sauces.
There are not enough seats in either the piano bar or the pool bar & the ones in the piano bar are uncomfortable, bare hard wood. This is why guests sit at the bar, which makes it difficult to get a drink. One bar man on at the pool bar who was overwhelmed & at one point wouldnt serve us another drink until I showed him our empty glass.
The first week it was almost impossible to get a coffee to have with your breakfast, frequently asking over & over for coffee. Someone stood up & said "for the forth time of asking, please could I have a coffee" The second week we noticed pots of coffee being given out which was much better & less waiting. There are not enough staff behind the bars or in the buffet restaurant.
The good points were the beautiful gardens & hard working garden staff.
Our accommodation was kept very clean & always fresh fluffy towels.
The chef's showcase was great, we enjoyed the food very much. The Lotus leaf made a change from the buffet & the waiters were entertaining.
Front of house staff were always helpful & friendly.
On the day we left, we explained to the duty manager at 12pm that we had to leave the resort before 1pm. (Lunch doesnt begin until 12.30) we were assured it would be enough time to get something to eat. Once the buffet opened we asked the waiting staff to
please serve us first as we were
leaving very soon our order was taken first, but not served first, we had to leave before any food came to us. We left as 4 hungry travellers... not ideal & could have been avoided if the duty manager had bothered to intervene.
We found parts of the resort lacking.
Tipping to us is reserved for after good service has been giving. Tipping before any service has been received is more in line with a bribe & this was happening frequently. Hopefully the new management will clamp down on the tips/bribes & allow every guest to feel valued not just the few.

The staff in this spa like resort is simply amazing ! From helping before the trip, to the arrival, during and leaving they are the best and was very appreciated.

They knew me by just calling me "trouble" or "superman" form my superman shirt.

Reading some reviews before we left I was concerned but once we got there I was relieved to see the rooms in great condition, the grounds were immaculate, the food was good (I've had better but I've had worse).

They take great care of the pool and hot tub, the pool is drastically under utilized by the visitors as unlike some resorts this one is free to swim until1am. There is no problem getting a chair in the sun or shade.

The beach is only a 5 minute walk from the resort and is probably closer than if you were to have a room at a larger resort. There is no problem getting a chair in the sun or shade once again. The beach is the best for the resorts on bloody bay with numerous travelers walking the beach asking which resort is this....It was a proud moment. There is no booming music but you do get the subtitle songs through the air which was very relaxing.

The water is very calm and clear be aware of jelly fish as our Colombian friends got stung but the staff got him all patched up and good to go with many thanks. I recommend going back to resort for the food as the food at the beach grill takes forever and that is the only downfall I have about this resort other than the nightlife.

The nightlife is next to none. They try with the local band 4 nights a week and my wife had a great time getting up and singing numerous times. But other than that you are better off going to another resort for a few hours and partying there to come back to relax afterwards. There are numerous resorts that will sell you a day/night pass (We went to "human zoo". yes you know where ! ).

This is a fantastic buy and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a A+ beach, staff and romance.

It is very clean, very safe and everything you could ask for !

We look forward to coming back in the very near future.

Thanks everyone !

From Superman and The Colombians :)

This was our second stay at The Palms (this time during COVID) and we were married on the beach at sunset. The planted property around the rooms as well as the private beach are both beautiful! We have stayed at other resorts in Negril but the staff at The Palms really makes you feel like family, they go way above and beyond. They also adhere to a strict mask/cleaning policy right now to make everyone feel safe during this pandemic. Outdoor open-air dining is also a nice touch.

Our wedding coordinator Nadine was amazing and helped us for several months ahead of the wedding to plan via email/phone and was also there on the big day (and leading up to) to make sure everything was perfect. Really beautiful and low-stress wedding on the beach at sunset. We also felt like it was an incredible value, even with a more expensive package they offer plus additional pictures/flowers we paid for.

Good music and food every night, even navigating some of our wedding party’s dietary restrictions. If you just wanted to hang out at the beach and the resort without ever leaving you would still have a great time. I checked out a small sailboat at the private beach (for free) and cruised around the little bay, it was awesome! Also a super short cab ride to 7-mile beach or the West End if you want to venture out.

This place is really special and definitely one of the best resorts on this part of the island. Again, the staff is amazing; thank you in particular to Nadine, Daniella, Carson, and The Spa Staff.

Celebrated my birthday here 7/9-7/15. First the property is very well kept. The landscape walking to and from our room was simply beautiful! Our room was very clean and comfortable. However we constantly had an issue with getting hot water, and noticed our room 411 had the smallest hot water heater in comparison to the other rooms. There was no soda or beer stocked in the frig besides a few bottles of water that initially came in the room so we had to constantly get drinks and water from the bar. My biggest disappointment was w the food. They have 2 restaurants which in reality really felt like one as most nights our only choice was their main restaurant which became very repetitive for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their 2nd restaurant, the lotus ( their formal dining room) was only open on certain nights and eating there was set up by the staff who checked us in. After talking to other guests we had all only been scheduled to eat there once during our stay. I was very disappointed in the Caribbean options available. We found ourselves eating off property a few nights after going by the restaurant and seeing pretty much the SAME food options. The entertainment on the property was limited to karaoke which was pretty cool and a guy playing the piano the other night. The servers seem robotic most days in taking your order and dropping off your food was the existent of our interaction w them, with the exception of Alicia who was very personable both at the coffee bar and main restaurant. The beach was well kept and getting set up w/ a place to sit was never an issue as there was always someone to greet you right away and get you setup w seating. The food at the beach was just ok and I found it weird they were constantly out of fries or would have burgers but no cheese, it was always something they didn’t have lol but for the most part everyone at the beach ( lifeguards, security and bartenders) were really nice. Overall, it was just an ok stay.

After two years since we traveled as a result of the pandemic we decided to return to Negril knowing of its fabulous seven mile beach. Well, we weren’t disappointed choosing Sunset at the Palms, because not only did we have the opportunity to experience this fabulous beach but probably the best beach service we could remember. The beach staff was extremely attentive from the second you step foot on the sand. They immediately jump to serve you with a clean beach lounge, table, towels and Red Flag. Which the second you pop it in the sand, they are present to accept your food and/or drink order. (A big shout out to Jovine who made sure that we had our favorite spot each morning - thank you)!. When they aren’t serving you they are cleaning the beach so it’s pristine regardless of the time of day. Although the beach is across the street from your private villa, it’s clearly worth the 5 minute walk.

Once back on the resort you think your walked into a tropical garden. (BTW Service is exemplary on this side of the resort too with cleanliness being their top priority). The grounds are kept immaculate and the landscape is beautiful as you feel you’ve been displaced to another island of its own. The privacy and quietness of this resort has a natural ability to absorb any stress you might have prior to arrival. Each Villa offers its own view with a private balcony. While we stayed tucked off toward the back of the property, which may seem a distance from the restaurants and hub of the resort, it’s a trade off to a serene and quiet setting full of birds and flowering gardens. The gym was another amazing spot to visit! We used it almost everyday with the exception of the one morning when we went to the spa for an incredible couples message.

Overall this property is the epitome of a boutique style resort as it’s small and intimate. We highly recommend it to anyone you wants to enjoy nature at its finest while being catered too! Considering that the property had recently reopened to full capacity since the pandemic, it’s only fair to know they were still undergoing some limitations/restrictions with certain food, drink, entertainment and other details that would have only enhanced our stay. In the other words what we did experience only has the potential to be better. With that said we plan to wait another year and return.

So a heartfelt Thanks to the staff and everyone who works at Sunset at the Palms for an incredibly relaxing six days in paradise.

Sunset at the Palms was the perfect relaxing honeymoon, even during a pandemic. Patrick and his staff were beyond accommodating for our weeklong honeymoon in this stunning jungle settle. The grounds were unbelievably lush and gorgeous. Each room is really a treehouse, so especially during a world pandemic, we felt so safe without shared hallways and shared HVAC systems. If you are worries about traveling during this time, rest assured they take all the necessary precautions. You get temps taken and sanitize before each meal, even on the beach. I felt like they were always cleaning something, and everyone wore masks in common areas.

The food was amazing. With COVID buffets are not allowed, which is disappointing because we heard their breakfast buffet was amazing, but the food was still great. Dinner was like something out of a 5-star luxury resort. We did not have a dinner that did not wow us.

Patrick, Delroy, and all the staff were beyond accommodating. Anything you need, you just ask and they do what they can to get it for you. The beach is a short 2 minute walk across the street, which is no big deal at all. You get to know the cross guard, the gate guard and the front desk well. They greet you like you have just shown up each and every time.

I would absolutely return to Sunset at the Palms again!

Are long pants for men required for dinner?
Hi Lisa, No, Long pants are not required. That said, as a guy, I always pack one nice pair of long pants and a button-down shirt, Just in case the mood strikes me to dress up a bit for my wife. :-)
