Travelers' Choice
A great spot for romantics or a destination wedding. Nestled amongst tropical gardens and flowering plants at the edge of Negril, this unique all-inclusive gem is best described as intimate, chic and serene. The resort offers 85 "tree-house-style," elegantly appointed guestrooms on ten-acres of lush landscaping, a design praised by Architectural Digest. Melt away with a soothing spa service in our unique treatment garden, cool off at the swim-up bar with a tropical drink or "chill" at the resort's five beachfront acres and two miles of white sand beach, just steps away. When dining is on the menu, you'll enjoy both international and authentic Jamaican cuisine at four restaurants and bars.

The food, the service, the staff, the breakfast, the weather, pool, bars and the piano. Where do I start?!?! What a wonderful time. 7 nights in paradise. Everything was wonderful especially the staff. All lovely especially Kadian! Relatively small, not rowdy, interesting other guests with great stories from around the world and a variety of options for eating and drinking...pool, beach, inside, outside, restaurant style, buffet, chef's showcase. Several nights that week Paul started playing the piano about 8:00 and he is a crowd pleaser. Takes requests, encourages singing along, tells an occasional story and even allows you to sing by yourself karaoke style if you're so inclined. Very fun! Fitness room very nice and I heard more than one mention messages among the best. I would definitely go back. Oh and BTW, she said "Yes."

Hotel's Favorite
We have just returned from our fourth visit to this little piece of paradise. So many of the staff are now old friends and we were warmly welcomed upon our arrival. The tree houses are delightful set in beautiful gardens. The place is full of birdsong and you will see humming birds, some very handsome woodpeckers and many other exotic birds. The food is excellent. Plenty of variety - there is always something for everyone. We enjoyed two exceptional meals in the Lotus Leaf Restaurant. The beach bar restaurant is superb, their jerk chicken and cheeseburgers are really tasty. We also had two great meals at the Chef's Showcase and on my birthday I was presented with a huge birthday cake beautifully decorated! The beach is stunning. Soft white sand, plenty of sunshades and the sea is crystal clear and extremely calm. When you arrive the lifeguards are there ready to help you set up your sun loungers and provide towels. Nothing is too much trouble. All the staff are great, but in particular we would like to thank Kadian, Gloria, John, Linford, Cornelious, Kevan, Romeo, Claudette and the lady on the gate (sorry we can't remember her name, but she made us laugh so much) They made our holiday so special. They truly are wonderful people and we can't wait to return next year. Brian and Jan, UK.

My husband and I stayed at Sunset at the Palms for our honeymoon. Resort grounds are beautiful and garderners constantly working and planting new things. Was a tropical heaven! Rooms are comfortable and A/C unit worked great. Food was top notch in the buffet. Lotus Leaf we went to twice and loved it both times. We did the Caribbean Showcase one evening but didn't have a great experience with that and we cancelled our 2nd reservation. Was very long (over 2hrs) and food was room temperature. Only complaints we had was that rooms are cleaned too late in the day. Rooms were in the midst of being cleaned when we were returning to our room for the day to get ready for dinner. I would suggest Rooms be cleaned by 12pm-1pm when most are out at the pool or beach. 3pm, 4pm cleaning was far too late for those looking to have a quick nap and shower before dinner. Another suggestion is to have the coffee station opened earlier in the morning or create a self serve coffee station for early risers like we are. The instant coffee in room taste horrible. Overall we had a wonderful time, made some great new friends and we will definitely return!

I can't say enough about this resort! We loved the staff; so friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and lots of variety. The grounds are immaculate and rooms were very clean. The bathrooms at the beach are the cleanest I have ever seen! My only complaint is that it is by a very busy road so you get the road noise at all hours of the day. So when you leave; give an extra large tip to the crossing guards who get you safely to and from the beach every day!! They risk their lives for us on that dangerous road; you will see if you stay there!

Sunset at the Palms is a wonderful property located just off the beach in a very tropical setting. The elevated private units are very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The staff is wonderful and will go above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful experience. The all-inclusive option is perfect with quality food and restaurants. A short walk to their private beach across the street where the hotel will provide all the activities and amenities you could want. A special thank you to Kadian who is the guest services manager as she made our anniversary trip very special and one we will never forget. Highly recommending Sunset at the Palms for anyone visiting Jamaica!

We have travelled all over their Caribbean and stayed in a variety of 4 and 5 star hotels - Rui, Royalton to name a couple, as well as some small boutique. Sunset is an amazing concept and as you will read many times on here, it's an idyllic location. We loved the colonial style tree houses and the gardens - it is such a unique setting and with just 85 rooms it is a relaxed and chilled environment. If you are looking for white walls, polished marble, foam parties and endless restaurants then you may not be as enamoured with the rustic charm of Sunset as we were. The beach is amongst the best we have seen in the Caribbean and enjoys the prime spot amongst all the hotels on this stretch of coastline, and was the least crowded. The food was very good quality too with plenty of variety - we would recommend booking The Lotus Leaf for a dinner, the food and service there was excellent. The pool area has been totally refurbished, is a good size, with a swim up bar, surrounded by luscious gardens and is ideal for chilling, and it never gets overcrowded. As an 'adults only' hotel we were amongst kindred spirits and met so many lovely people who helped make this a special holiday, many of who were returners to the hotel, which kind of says it all. We would echo the comments made on here about the staff, without exception they were all so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed several evenings around the piano with Paul, the resident pianist. He's a great entertainer and very skilful at drawing the residents into his ensemble. We tend not to go back to places where we have holidayed, but for Sunset at The Palms we will make an exception and look forward to returning at some point in the future.

We are sadly ending 10 wonderful days at this tropical paradise. From the moment you arrive the whole staff, whether they be on the beach or around the complex treat you incredibly well. Nothing is too much trouble and they really enhance your stay. 85 tree houses camouflaged around beautifully cared for palm trees and all manner of lush tropical plants, cared for and tended by Lynford and his team. The garden tour is a must. You will frequently see humming birds flitting amongst the flowers. The newly refurbished pool area is a lovely chilled zone to sip a cocktail, as is the well shaded beach just across the road with attendants looking after you. There is a vibrant beach bar belonging to the hotel here with a great variety of cocktails and good food. Unlike some All inclusives the dining experiences are a pleasure. You never feel rushed, the restaurants are never full and you are not over faced by huge quantities of food. Traditional and international fare is tasty and memorable. If you have questions before an arrival an appointed concierge replies by email promptly and makes it a very pleasant personal message, in our case, Kadian, a lovely manager whom it was a pleasure to meet. We do not hesitate to highly recommend Sunset at the Palms.

Room 601 has bed bugs! And yes, there are also other biting bugs around the resort and beach that spay can help deter. But nothing is worse than waking up to a line of fresh bed bug bites. This experience has ruined it for what the resort can be.

Dear Michelle, First, after thorough inspections of all rooms, we did not find a single shred of evidence to back your claim. In fact, your room was cleaned daily and still no sightings of bed bugs. Further, it is very disappointing and distrubing to us that you did not bring your claim to anyone's attention while you were at the resort. Rather, upon your return home you sent an email to inform our owner of a non-existent issue intended to damage our reputation. This reeks of extortion for some sort of compensation. Sorry, but no. Sincerely,

Writing this review as I am waiting for my ride home. We had a lovely experience overall and would definitely consider returning. Like the other reviews, the staff were friendly and low key. The grounds are beautiful and intimate, many times we felt like the only guests when it appeared fully subscribed during meals. The garden tour from Lynford allowed me to appreciate the curated botanical garden here and the amount of work keeping it jungle-like but not over grown. Positives about this stay were many including housekeeper Laverne who has repertoire of cute towel animals. Low key entertaining, minimal (but classy) resort activities therefore you won’t find parties here. The beach with outdoor bar across the street has the same chill vibe. You’ll appreciate how true to native landscape the resort keeps to vs the ‘perfect’ palm trees at Riu chains next door. On the other side of beach is a bbq live seafood/lobster open-air restaurant with music that fills the bay. And a long line of tarped shanty town shops just to keep your experience real about how lucky is travelers are. Negatives were a few including the amount of privacy you feel lying in bed with paths 20 feet away on both sides. We can hear conversations and even flip flops passing through. I heard my neighbor blow his nose, who knows what others will hear if you make noise during sex. I’m suggesting glass windows for all cabins just like the ones on the first row by the road (major thoroughfare). I’m also suggesting clearer instructions at check in. We didn’t get towel cards and missed the Chef’s Showcase dinners because they are reservation only. There’s a bit of rivalry between old staff and newcomer Chef Michael. Good luck to them because the food is actually pretty good. I asked a junior chef what it’s like to learn from Chef Michael and his knee jerk response is that he was here before the chef (ouch). Avoid dining at the a la carte restaurant because there’s a long wait and the buffet is just as good. Only go if you’re craving steak.
