My husband and I had a great time here. We made a number of friends and enjoyed hanging out with all of them. I will post my pros and cons for this resort and I'll also tell you that although we enjoyed ourselves, I do not think all in all that this is a 5 Star resort. PROS: -Grounds are beautiful -Food was very good, especially the custom omelette station at breakfast -Service was good -Drinks were plentiful and yummy -Beach is gorgeous and the water all the way to the swim rope is super clear -Beach seaweed/sargassum is cleaned up regularly -Catamaran cruise was a blast! CONS: -You can tell the buildings are getting old and in need of repair as the cracks in the cement walls tell all. I did like the color the buildings are painted though. Roofs on the buildings are old and dingy -The pools have missing tiles and the pool bar pool has at least one big hole in the bottom of the pool with broken pieces out of it. The pieces come loose and you have to be careful about stepping on those pieces -The wooden deck from the beach area up to the pool area is rotting and in need of replacement -Beach towels not always available and you have to keep going back to see if they have any yet -The chair floats - some need to be tossed and new ones to replace them -We sat in the Cassava Terrace at breakfast two days in a row that had old candle wax dripped and hardened on the tables. We asked for that to be cleaned off but the host didn't seem to think that was a reasonable request so we sat there with the wax. -Our bathroom had tiny black bugs on the counter after the first day and I asked the housekeeper to clean the counter since she didn't clean it when she was in there that day. It was never done after asking twice. Had chunks of tile grout coming out of the floor in the bed area in our room and asked twice to have that cleaned up too. My husband and I were constantly picking pieces up and throwing them away because we kept stepping on them. I finally went to the front desk and asked that they have housekeeping take care of these two issues while we were at dinner one night. They did clean up the floor but not the bathroom counter. We ordered a few extra towels and those were put directly on top of the dead bugs on the counter. Ugh. The bathroom counter was never cleaned. -We ordered coffee and danish for the early morning and one day we never got our order. We thought that was weird since the order card was picked up. We waited extra time and it still didn't show up. Decided to just go to breakfast instead thinking it was a little snafu somewhere. We ordered again for the next day and waited and waited. Went to breakfast instead again, and found the order card still on the door! It had been put out there at 10 PM the night before, plenty of time to be picked up. -Rooms could really use an update as the shower tiles, though pretty, look old and with the way the shower has the openness to it, the water hits the wooden door jamb and the wood is all ruined there. The floor grout is coming out in the room too, as I said above. -Saw numerous people tipping the bar staff and the staff took the money, even though this is not supposed to be allowed. As I said, we did have a good time and we may go back, but I think people should be aware that they are paying for a 5 Star resort and this is not what I expect from a 5 Star resort. …
This was our second visit to CN, I think you always wonder when returning to a resort if it will be as good as the first time. Yes it was, from start to finish our vacation was close to perfection. We enjoyed every meal, our room in building 4 was lovely, staff were consistently helpful, the beach is amazing and the weather was great. I really hope there is a third trip in our future.
We had a very nice holiday for our wedding anniversary at couples. A few things made it not 5 star though. Most of the staff are fantastic and made the stay enjoyable at this lovely resort set in a beautiful bay. Our room was a beachfront room albeit you only see the sea looking around the side of the balcony and most of that was obscured by trees. Yes there are areas that could do with improving with a lick of paint but that didn’t really matter as it was bright and clean. The staff kept it very clean but the stocking of the mini fridge was hit and miss. Sometimes we got what we asked for, other times not and staples like coke and beer were not always replenished. We were on the third floor and a couple of the steps have the end strips missing which made it a bit dodgy walking down them at night with the very dim lighting. Generally the food was good albeit a bit repetitive in the 3 a la carte restaurants as menus only changed once in 2 weeks. Drinks were excellent. Service was mostly excellent and done with a smile except in Heliconia a couple of times when once it took 25 minutes before our order was taken, wrong drinks were delivered and over an hour before we got our main meal. When my fish arrived it was only just warm and there was a piece of clear plastic stuck to it. Not impressed as there was no apology for the wait, the waitress simply said it’s not my fault it’s the kitchen who are slow. That’s poor customer service. If we’d had an apology for the delay earlier with an explanation that would have been better but no excuse for the plastic. We had our best tasting meal in Otaheite and some very good service albeit the waitress serving the red wine to my husband splashed it on the tablecloth, bread plate and my husband’s napkin on his lap. It went through but luckily not onto his beige trousers and she just walked away. We had to ask our food server for the bread plate to be replaced. It’s not the first time that a waiter or waitress was sloppy pouring drinks both of wine and coffee, it happened in all but the Lychee restaurant. This had the best service by far. Some of the staff in the main restaurant were really great, especially at breakfast including Natasha, Orlando and Brittany. The evening entertainment was generally good and the steel band, the Children of the Drums and the fire dancers were excellent. The entertainment team were all fantastic but Dusheine, Shanice and Tianne were especially great. The water sports available are good but if you want to try diving although the training in the pool is free the subsequent dive is not. That costs $70 so not all inclusive. Snorkelling trips are free and the morning one is best as the sea is often quite still but although they have more than one site they can take you to on the morning trip, despite us asking nicely if we could possibly go to Sandy key for a change (which was met with a surly No) every time they took us to the same middle reef which started to get a bit boring. The afternoon trip was generally not good as it was too choppy. If you walk to the left end of the beach early morning around 07:30 (before any water sports start) you can snorkel alongside the rocks and there are huge shoals of fish to swim through, other colourful fish, barracuda, jacks and I even saw a green moray eel. And there is some coral growing too. The friendliest members of the water sports team were Willie and Maliki and one of the team who taught scuba who we had an informative talk about diving with whilst in the jacuzzi but unfortunately I can’t remember his name. It was great to have a chat and a laugh with them. A couple of the team seemed a bit miserable especially the one who piloted the boat out most days. We had asked for a quiet room and generally it was ok in block 5 but it was near the jacuzzi by the sports centre and some early evenings there would be a very noisy drunk group of Americans in there yelling and whooping for all to hear. We liked to sit on our balcony reading early evening as the sun went down, with a glass of wine before going to dinner but they made it impossible. It’s a pity the small pool and jacuzzi aren’t closed like the main pool from 6pm. With regards to the main pool I only went in once. I tried aqua aerobics which I love doing but here it isn’t really proper aqua aerobics but solely water resistance moves for the whole session rather than just the last part. I always wear a t-shirt as protection when doing this in the sun and I was so shocked when I got out as the water had badly bleached most of my t-shirt from khaki to pink. Only the neck line was still green. The pool chemicals were clearly not correct, the chlorine smell was strong and my friend said her eyes were stinging from the water. This has never happened before with my pool shirt and it was a worry what harm it was doing to peoples skin. I went and reported this to the sports manager agreed something must be wrong though seemed more keen to see what he could do about my t-shirt, initially missing my point that I was more concerned about what damage the chemicals were doing to people until I said I do not care about the t-shirt please just get the water sorted. I didn’t go in the pool again much preferring the beautiful warm blue sea. The drinks service was a bit hit and miss at the beach, sometimes no service and when there was service occasionally wrong drinks or forgotten drinks but always with a smile and it wasn’t the end of the world as the bar was close. Plenty of sunbeds with absolutely no need to reserve them but some people did. Unfortunately there’s no dedicated smoking areas on the beach (or if there is it’s not clear) and we occasionally had to put up with cigarette or cigar smoke spoiling our enjoyment and although it’s not allowed we got the occasional waft of smoke coming from a balcony near us, the occupants clearly taking no notice of the little no smoking sign in the rooms. Ultimately the positives of this resort well outweigh the negatives of which most can be remedied and we really had a good, relaxing break made more enjoyable by some of the nicest staff we have ever met and I would recommend staying here.…
Great resort, beach is amazing, food was of high quality. Our 7th year at this resort. Will return in 2024 for sure! If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation spot, this is it. Staff was attentive and the weather amazing.
We returned after 14 years and certainly won’t leave it so long again. The staff every single one of them make this resort. Food in all restaurants is excellent. Rooms are rustic but clean and suit the resort. Entertainment is high quality. Thank you all for the perfect break hope to return soon
Beautiful property! We’ve been to many all-inclusive resorts, but Couples Negril is at the top. All employees were so friendly and happy. The food was excellent, as were the drinks. Water sports and scuba were very professional and loads of fun. We can’t wait to return.
totally breathtaking something I'll never forget. Everyone from staff to the other guest were so nice I just can't say enough about my whole experience it would take about 10 pages or more to tell you about everything I loved about Jamaica and Negril , its a whole lot easer to tell you about what I didnt like it only takes one word nothing|
We requested the ocean front suite a year before and we’re pleasantly surprised that we got it as requested. The food was excellent in all venues but especially in Otahiti. The main restaurant dinner usually was way to much food especially with bread, appetizer and soup and salad. We figured it out eventually. The sea was beautiful but a little chilly, nothing anyone can do about that. The pool was the same temperature. Aqua aerobics seemed intermittent. In the past we saw few sea creatures. This time we saw a sting ray, turtle, fish and a nudibranch. Drinks were excellent and the bar staff quick. My only complaint was loud music during dinner in the main restaurant. We had a great time. We will be back.
Beautiful resort. Very clean. Helpful and generous staff. Reasonable priced. Many of the water sports included. There are many activities you can if you want participate in. Food was delicious all you can eat and the drinks are yummy. This resort has everything you can need.
3rd time at this resort and it somehow gets better each time we go! food and employees are always amazing. Resort is perfectly sized and spaced out. Never feels crowded. The pinao bar always has fun entertainment with employees that really get into it, and some amazing singers! Cant wait to go back soon!
