A perfect vacation. Stayed 5 days which was a perfect amount of time for us. We had villa 19. Amazing jump from the cliff patio, or sit on the outside patio in the shade. Service was excellent. We spent a day cliff jumping and swimming through the caves, one day touring the countryside on ATVs , one day at skylark and the pool visit daily. Absolutely beautiful.
Stayed for a week at Rockhouse on their great stay 5, get 2 nights free special. Rockhouse has been on our radar for years after reading a review in a travel magazine. After getting vaccinated, we were looking for a safe and easy getaway. Jamaica has a fairly straightforward entry policy and Rockhouse has an aggressive COVID mitigation policy, so off we went. We used the Club Mobay arrivals service and it was well worth the money to breeze through customs. On arrival, we were set up with Rockhouse’s WhatsApp which they use very efficiently for guest communication and general announcements. We stayed in room 27, one of the traditional hotel style rooms. The room was pleasantly minimalistic. No TV, but a nice outdoor shower (plenty private), balcony, and comfy queen bed. There’s small safe, adequate storage, and a handy USB charging hub. We used the AC the whole week (mostly due to humidity) and it did quite well. All in all, the room was everything needed but we would look for a villa on a return trip just for the cool factor. The pool area is the gathering place and the bar/grill serves up drinks and good eats (get the fish sandwich). There are plenty of lounge chairs both around the pool and scattered around the cliffs for more private days. There are multiple steps down to the ocean and the snorkeling is great right off the cliffs. The Rockhouse and Pushcart restaurants are on site, convenient, and serve up authentic Jamaican cuisine. What really sets Rockhouse apart is the dedicated and friendly staff. From grounds maintenance to management, everyone seems dedicated to ensuring a great stay. Suggestions: 1) Take the daily shuttle to the sister hotel, Skylark for a beach day. 2) Have the front desk arrange a car and driver for a morning drive to the countryside. 3) Participate in a visit to a Rockhouse Foundation sponsored school. 4) Have lunch at one of the nearby local restaurants. 5) Jump off a cliff!…
The Rock House is seriously AMAZING. wha a beautiful hotel with great service and food. There is a lot to explore on the property with different areas connected to different villas. Jumping into the water was amazing and so beautiful and easy to get in and out. The pool is nice overlooking the water and the boats coming by. The food at the restaurant was delicious for all meals as well. They offer a shuttle at 11 every morning (comes back at 3) to go to Skylark, their sister hotel on the beach. Spa treatment is a must with a few different options that you can book.
We made our second visit to Rockhouse May 9-12, 2022 for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. As soon as we arrived, we experienced all the friendly, helpful employees we remembered from our last trip - at the front desk, bellman that escorted us to our room, pool bar personnel as well as everyone as the Pushcart and Rockhouse Restaurant during our stay. When we arrived in our room, we were surprised with a welcome back gift from Inise Lawrence, the General Manager. We requested Villa 11. It's the best kept secret on the property. Try it and see. Your very own hidden ladder to the water is close by so look for it. The entire property is so relaxing and peaceful. A great place to stay. We both had the Signature Foot Ceremony at the spa on May 10. Ahhhh! Those ladies know how to do it right!! A special treat was a tour of the bath house. Our next visit will include that. Wow! Swimming in the pool and surrounding water off the cliffs was sooo nice. The food at the Pool Grill, Pushcart and Rockhouse Restaurant was all wonderful and fun trying things we've never had. This time one of those was ginger shots at breakfast. We had another great stay here and hope to return in the near future. By the way, we book our trips through Amy McHugh at Dream Makers Vacation Services. She's great!…
If you enjoy natural beauty, views unique to only this resort, and super friendly staff.... GO HERE NOW. We had expectations and upon arrival, they were blown away. Such a cool spot within a relatively close distance to the US.
Rockhouse could not be a more perfect way to resume our post-covid travels. We got there early and were given a complimentary drink while waiting for our room to be ready. Our room, while not one of the villas, was maybe a minute's walk from the infinity pool and bar/grill. The room had a spacious outdoor shower and a large balcony with a generous view of the water and was close enough to hear the water washing up against the volcanic rock that the resort is built on, which was perfect to fall asleep to every night. The staff from the top down to housekeeping was very professional, friendly and accommodating. The front office staff occasionally seemed slightly stressed but overall were very helpful. There are two onsite restaurants in addition to the poolside bar & grill, but the food at the grill was every bit as good as the restaurants. Making a lunch or dinner reservation was effortless and seemed to guarantee us a waterside table every time at both restaurants. Because there aren't that many units at Rockhouse, the restaurants and pool area never seemed to be overcrowded. We were always able to find seating at or very near the pool. You are on island time, so leave yourself a little extra time when ordering at the restaurants, but ironically, when ordering room service (which is provided at no additional charge), the food seemed to arrive a little faster. The portions are generous and priced relatively comparable to what we would pay at home. My personal favorites were the jerk chicken plate from the poolside grill, the jerk fish salad from Pushcart Restaurant and the seafood linguini at Rockhouse Restaurant. The poolside bar has a daily happy hour until sunset, which, from that vantage point is an excellent place to watch it on a clear afternoon and as friendly as the bartenders are, Jordayne has to be the friendliest bartender on the entire island. There is a very large roped off cove for snorkeling and paddleboarding. The snorkeling was not the best I've seen, but the water was very clear and there was still plenty to see down there, and there are several available points of entry, so if you're a beginner, you should be fine especially if you go in the morning when the water is at its calmest. The grounds are very clean and regularly maintained, and I can't say if it was luck or by design, but the usual Caribbean bug problem was non-existent. We took advantage of the mosquito netting around our bed, but I think we each got bitten only once, which was totally unexpected and pleasantly welcome. There is a row of vendors across the street from the resort, but honestly, it seemed like there was a better selection of merch on the beach at their sister property Skylark which provides a free daily shuttle if you want your beach fix. One word of caution about Skylark is the amount of locals roaming the beach who aggressively try to sell their merch. Avoid them and go check out the booths/kiosks on the beach instead. On its own, though, Rockhouse is highly, highly recommended. I plan on going back.…
Calling Rockhouse home for a week in early May was wonderful. We stayed in Villa 3, which was a premium villa with its own outdoor area/deck right outside the door. It was nice to have our own dedicated space and not have to use chairs in a different area even if it was close by. The views are incredible and never get old. There were numerous water access points near our villa that were great for a quick dip or more serious swimming/snorkeling. The bed was so comfortable (and I'm super picky about this). The water pressure in the shower was not the strongest so if you have really thick and long hair like I do, it will take a bit longer to shampoo and condition. The toiletries smelled so good. Some genius features included the drying rack, bluetooth speaker, hamper, mosquito coils, bug spray, and all items in the fridge and basket for purchase (reasonable prices). There was plenty of room for folded and hanging clothes. All parts of the hotel were fantastic: the pool, bars, restaurants, room service (free), spa, boutique. Walkways were well lit at night and landscaping was beautiful. Love the singing gardener! The pool bar had some delicious drinks and happy hour was fun. Try the Sting Ray. Despite being on the main road, the hotel felt private and secluded. It was hard to leave the property. The sustainable mission of the hotel is so important and taken seriously. My only recommendation would be to have larger shampoo/conditioner containers in the showers to reduce small plastic waste. The staff are what really make this place. There are so many worth mentioning because the service was so consistently good. Steven in Reservations was so helpful and answered my millions of questions. Annette in housekeeping took great care of us and kindly left extras like flowers on the bed. Scarlett made sure we were settled upon arrival and explained the AC, etc. Gossett at the pool made sure everyone was happy all the time. Kevin and Jamie are great bartenders. Bryan saved us when we didn't realize we needed reservations on a particularly busy night. Samantha and Jefton took great care of us every morning at breakfast. Other servers worth mentioning are Marlon, Paul, Melissa, Dermaine, Lance, and Kirk. Karisha is a great massage therapist. Jermaine kindly helped me when I was lost on the first day and walked me all the way to my destination. Linton's ability to carry trays on his head is impressive. Please be sure to read about and support the Rockhouse Foundation. We brought a carry-on suitcase full of school supplies but were not able to visit the school due to COVID precautions and limited time availability. However, the front office was able to deliver the items for us, which we appreciated. It's easy to see why some people return to this place 10+ times. It is so beautiful and well run with the most incredible staff. We will miss them until next time!…
Only ate at restaurant didn’t stay in Hotel but food and service were excellent! Wonderful vista inside & out and exceptional customer service! Enjoyed the wine as well in fact too much and charismatic waiter made the lunchtime experience even better!
Just returned from stay at Rock House with my two teen sons. Everything was amazing! The staff are all incredible- they are friendly and professional. I was greeted with a smile by everyone. They will go out of their way to help in any way. The service was fabulous across the board- pool, restaurant, maintenance.. The property is unique and incredibly beautiful with lush landscaping and various hues of turquoise and emerald waters. Views are lovely in every direction!! There are little nooks where you can quietly read by the water, or have a little more “action” by the pool. The food and drinks were also excellent at all three restaurants. This hotel delivers a high level of service, while always feeling relaxed. They use “what’s app” to communicate with guests and it works very efficiently. Highly recommend this incredibly beautiful resort with friendly, attentive service. Cannot wait to return!…
My husband and I had visited Jamaica many years ago, but not Negril and not Rockhouse. We were not impressed and never intended to go back. Then I saw Rockhouse featured on the Today Show and had to give it a shot. In an effort to save money we stayed in a Studio, not a villa. It was rather dim inside, not light and bright like the pictures showed. It was however clean, comfortable, had a nice outdoor shower, a large patio with lounge chairs and a table and chairs where we enjoyed dinner a few nights and a wonderful ocean view. The Studios are about one minute walking distance to the infinity pool where they serve awesome lunch specials and 2 for 1 Happy Hour. This is also where you will be treated to a beautiful sunset if it's a clear day. All red ladders into the Pristine Cove are public access so you can snorkel and swim all you want in the heavenly water. There are plenty of fish and lots of coral to see. The grounds are lovely and well manicured, and well lit at night. I would like to add that I am usually a mosquito magnet and I was only bit once and my husband not at all. Except for a few rude, unfriendly, unhelpful and dismissive ladies in the reception/front desk the staff was fabulous. The restaurant employees are polite and efficient, though service is very, very slow. They definitely operate on "island time". Even the housekeeping staff and gardeners are very pleasant. My favorites were the pool staff. They couldn't do enough for everyone and always with a smile. The jerk chicken is fantastic even better than at Push Cart. Our favorite was Jordayne. He met us the first day we were there. Our room was not ready and we were waiting in the patio by the pool. He gave us a drink "on the house" for our trouble, asked us our names and remembered them all week always happily greeting us. The restaurants were good but not great. My husband loved the seafood linguine and ordered it over and over. My favorite was the blackened mahi mahi. The first time delicious, unfortunately the second time overcooked and dry. We also took the complimentary shuttle to their sister property "Skylark" on seven mile beach. A pretty beach with clear water, but I overwhelmingly prefer Rockhouse. Overall, a very positive experience and a great vacation. We will most likely return.…
