I booked two rooms. Thank God my daughter is now 18. I am Jamaican and I normally visit Jamaica at least once a year. Due to COVID this year I almost cancelled my trip. I decided to take a shot and due the covid test and applied for entrance to Jamaica. Everything went smoothly. I only booked Couples last minute since I flew into Kingston. These flights were booked from earlier in the year. I did not want to stay with family, and I wanted an all-inclusive. I did not want to go to far, so I decided on Ocho Rios and picked Couples. The staff was very friendly and follow all the protocols to keep us safe. The capacity was low, which is bad business for the hotel, but good for us because we did not have to worry about being too close to anyone. The hotel is well kept, staff is always cleaning. Top notch. I want to shout out to the Piano bar guy. I took a chance and enjoyed it. I also enjoy the Fusion Band and their lead singer is awesome. I enjoyed the food, staff was great. I had a car, therefore I was able to move around in the resilient corridor. Went to Konoko , Duns Rivier. Chukka, Island Village. My daughter and son although they are not a couple, enjoyed it. We celebrated my Husband's birthday in fine style.

Part 2 of my 4 night stay in Jamaica DURING COVID TRAVEL - As a Travel Agent, my job is to travel, and this trip was in July 2020 just shortly after Jamaica did reopen from the border close. I was invited to see all the protocols in place for my clients I book to Couples Resorts in Jamaica. I was so lucky to see all 4 Couples properties and stay at Couples Tower Isle for 2 nights. ALL 4 PROPERTIES ARE COVID COMPLIANT AND HAVE SOCIAL DISTANCE, MARKERS, ROOM FOR SOCIAL DISTANCE, SPACE, SANITIZER ALL OVER AS OF JULY 2020 From check-in to check out it was perfect! This property is nice as all restaurants are in the property with not too much walking. Elevators are a plus as well. The 2 pools are big and have plenty of space. The Swim-up bar pool has more fun and is a bit more lively. The staff was masked and took great care of us. The beach is smaller, more like a cove, but so beautiful! Lots of waves and rocky in places so bring water shoes... Food was AMAZING and the Executive Chef even made us a special dinner as we missed the lobster night, but we had it !!! I stayed in the original building, block 4. 3rd-floor room 4205. I was able to go over to the Au Natural Island early for a tour as well. I would have loved to be with my husband there getting a full tan! The sounds of the waves and the ocean, you feel like you are on a deserted island, was serene. As a vegetarian its nice to have the Veggie bar and many vegetarian options. There is nightlife, bars, a piano bar with some cool historic pictures from the celebrities that used to visit, and even a DJ in a social distance club. It's chic and modern with that classic Jamaican feel. Had a great time and cant wait to send me clients to the Iconic Tower Isle!

Overall a great anniversary trip (August 1 -7) with the wife doing lots of fun diving and eating delicious foods, but were let down by the room and inability to leave the resort (not communicated beforehand by Couples). MONTEGO BAY AIRPORT COUPLES LOUNGE The medical screening line took us 2 hours to get through. A big sense of relief hit us when we reached the Couples Lounge. Everyone was so incredibly nice and happy to see us! Red Stripe hit the spot! Rating 5/5. ROOM We stayed in room 2208 and unfortunately we were let down. The water pressure was lacking, so much that we were not able to take a "Couples" shower. One day, we completely lost all water. We called maintenance for it to be fixed, but there was no noticeable change. The lack of water pressure made it incredibly difficult for us to clean our diving equipment. Also, the phone could only dial the operator - this was fixed midway through our stay though. Rating 2/5 ROOM SERVICE / HOUSEKEEPING / MINI BAR We ordered room service throughout our stay and our requests were delivered extremely quickly and correctly. The room was also kept clean. Mini bar was kept stocked according to our requests. Rating 5/5. DRINKS As usual, the drinks were delicious and we tried pretty much everything on the menu. The mud slide was outstanding. The bartenders ANTOINETTE, HENRY and TERRY were incredible! Rating 5/5. DINING We tried breakfast, but it is standard resort fair so we skipped it thereafter. For lunch, the jerk burger, jerk chicken, salmon sandwich, fried calamari, onion rings, nachos were all amazing at the Pool Grill. We tried dinner at each of the restaurants - the Jamaican curry entree special at The Verandah was incredible. Special thanks to the cooking staff for cooking us a lobster we caught while doing a night dive. The wait staff PERCY, SUNSHINE and SHENECA were very friendly and helpful - SUNSHINE even made it point to remember our names and say hi to us whenever she saw us! Rating 5/5. DIVING We did a dive every morning at the resort with a night dive on Monday and a second morning dive on Thursday (total of 7 dives). For some days, there were no other divers so we had a private dive without having to pay for it! The night dive was incredible and we were able to catch a lobster to bring back for the resort to cook for us! The deepest we dove was 89 feet, but the scenery and aquatic life seems the same no matter the depth. Thanks to BEETLEJUICE, CHAZ, MARVIN and Captain MICHAEL for the very enjoyable dives. Rating 5/5 with bonus credit to MARVIN for making my wife feel at ease when she had a brief moment of panic. Some additional notes for the divers: -We were the only guests who brought diving equipment (mask, snorkel, dive computer, booties, fins, knives, diving bag) – I would at least bring your own mask / snorkel and a dive computer. -Water temperature at 89 feet was 86 degrees. Wetsuit not needed. -They accept certification from your phone (we showed our SSI Advanced Adventurer certification) -Could sign up for a dive that morning; in one case we signed up at 8:50 am for a 9:00 am dive. -Diving Entry is typically giant stride, but I also did a back roll for one dive. No shore diving. -You will dive with a Couples Dive Master who leads the dive. SPA The couples massage was outstanding - LATOYA did a great job! Rating 5/5. WATER ACTIVITIES Tried the paddle boards and had fun, but that was it - much more is offered though. Rating 5/5. CATAMARAN Compared to the catamaran at Couples Swept Away, the one at CTI is a dud. You get on a bus at the resort and ride to the Ocho Rios port where you board the catamaran. It goes along the coast to the east and stops to let everyone off and float in the ocean. There was nothing special about the location - it could use a swing, slide or something else to make it more fun. The catamaran then goes along the coast to the west to Dunn's River Falls and then returns back to port. Rating 2/5. BELLHOP Took our bags to and from our room and even called us when we were leaving to give us a heads up that they were ready to take our bags down. The gentleman who took our bags to our room on the day we arrived asked us if we were from the home of the Gamecocks after learning we were from South Carolina. Incredible that a Jamaican knows that South Carolina is Gamecock country! Rating 5/5. RESORT Overall, the resort is decent. The landscaping is well kept, but parts of the resort are showing signs of aging. The swim up pool has missing tiles, some of the concrete on the paths has chipped away and the beach has eroded. A minor refurbishment is needed. Rating 3/5. GYM / AU NATURAL ISLAND / TENNIS COURTS Did not try. Although the gym is an excellent location with a view to the ocean (as compared with Couples Swept Away). Lots of folks looked like they were having fun at the Au Natural Island. Rating N/A. OTHER GUESTS The other guests we met were very friendly and a joy to chat with. I did notice one male guest pull out USD from his wallet and subtly leave it for a staff member. Rating 4/5. COUPLES STAFF They were all following the required safety protocols while maintaining such a friendly and fun atmosphere. Much love and credit to them! Rating 5/5. MANAGEMENT We had resort credit, but it was not made clear to us that it is only good for the Spa, Photo or gift shop. We also were not informed that the Ocho Rios trip and Dunn's River Falls excursion were not occurring. Had we known that we would not be allowed to leave the resort (except for the Catamaran), we would have stayed at Couples Swept Away. They did make sure that wine and a dessert were left in our room to celebrate our anniversary. Rating 3/5. RECOMMENDED IMPROVEMENTS Below are some recommended improvements for Couples Tower Isle: -Update website with notation for the excursions that are unable to be offered due to Jamaican regulations -In email sent to guests prior to their arrival, include notation that the excursions are not offered. Also provide notice on the amount of resort credit in balance and what it can be used for. -Add slide/swing/something to catamaran. Make rum punch with more rum. -Fix plumbing for room 2208 In the end the diving made it a great trip and we hope to be able to return to a Couples resort soon!
