I’ll start at the start. We were shaken down for a tip for the ride in. Driver told us the Couples no tip policy did not belong to him. Prepaid for a Penthouse ocean view suite, received a standard room. After 2 days, they moved us into our correct suite. No compensation or apologies. Buffet is of a cafeteria style quality. Service was cheerful but wrong orders were delivered on 3 occasions. Always pleasantly, but slowly corrected The grounds are beautiful, the rooms of a mid level chain quality. On the bus ride back, the driver said that instead of the airport, he was going to take us to Negril instead. After several moments of a steadily increasing tense argument, he announced that he was “just joking”. No one one that bus enjoyed that “joke”.

The BEST All-Inclusive we have been to so far- All excursions and water toys are included. The resort is small enough to feel completely intimate but large enough to have your own space and join in the fun and activities if you choose. The food was incredible, and there are not enough words to properly compliment the staff! I know I will miss some names as I tried to keep notes as we went along but to all of you- THANK YOU for making out 25th as memorable as possible- Irie; One Love to all- Mickhugh, Ashley, Austin, Kayon, Turdy-Ann, Sanya, Sandy, Sayon, Alex, Romar, Teneel, Anthony, Daine, Herde, Michael and Shelton... (please excuse if I did not mention your name) We will be back and hope to see you all again.

Water sports leaders were excellent especially Alex. Food was very good except one meal.Grounds are gorgeous and love the peacock family. Spa afternoon was excellent. had a horrible experience with transportation which manager was notified that driver was using one hand, and no hands to drive and swayed in andout of the lane. When reported to receptionist upon arrival, no apology no follow up and no checking on the license when I showed the car. Our safety was at risk getting to the resort. they should've reported to the police.

i was quite concerned about the quality of the water. when running water from sink in our room's bathroom, It was discolored every morning. It was better later in our stay. i mentioned this the front desk receptionist. Her comment is that is why we recommend guests do not drink the water. This was the first time we were told that. There were no signs and no mention of this in any literature. Our travel agent highly recommended your facility. This was our first time to Jamaica. For the most part, the location, room and beach were a pleasant experience. The staff was very friendly and hard working. The food was marginal as were the drinks. We quickly shifted to wine because of our concern for the water quality and ice quality. We are not fond of buffets and this was the primary source for food. The variety on the buffets were limited. The availability at the reservation only restaurants was very limited. The facility would benefit from updating/remodeling. the floors, tile, walls, sidewalks and stairs were dirty and some in disrepair. We check out early. of course, no discount for early check out provided.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks at Couples Sans Souci, our fist stay there, but encountered some issues the resort should make up its mind to fix. Upon arriving, we were told the resort was booked and that they could not accommodate our prepaid reservation for an Ocean View room. When we presented a copy of our reservation, with the clear notation that we had paid for an Ocean View room, a supervisor appeared and miraculously found an Ocean View room. We then were gratuitously told someone else would have to be bumped. PLEASE. Five-star resorts honor their prepaid reservations or put you in superior accommodations. Our room, one of the newly renovated in Section D, was beautiful and spacious but came with only one bathroom sink (in a hotel that caters exclusively to Couples!!!) and a shower that reverberated despite several visits from the plumber. Sections A, B and C had not yet been renovated and all face the great lawn where the evening shows and other activities are held. If you want some peace and quiet at the end of your day, insist on a room in Sections D or E. We took our breakfasts and dinners in the main, ground-level restaurant facing the main beach. The breakfast is buffet style and sumptuous. The food at dinner was delicious, if repetitive, and the service gracious, professional, even outstanding. Couples Sans Souci obviously goes to great lengths to train its dining staff and the results pay off. We very much appreciated the warm greetings we received every day from Lucerne, the evening captain, and his counterpart in the morning. We had lunch every day at naturist Sunset Beach, which has its own, very popular pool, bar and kitchen serving grilled fare (hamburgers, friend chicken, fish, tacos, french fries) casseroles of hot food and wan assortment of salads and soup. The beach itself is lovely, with sufficient lounges and shade, and a delightful naturist vibe. You either can socialize or keep to yourself as you wish. The grounds are beautiful and verdant with stunning flowers and beautiful views throughout. The main lobby area and one restaurant were still undergoing renovation, but that caused no inconvenience. The Beach Grill and Bella Vista restaurant serves lunch and an Asian dinner menu. Couples Sans Souci encourages its guests to purchase access to the Club Mobay lounge at Montego Bay airport when departing. BE FOREWARNED ABOUT PREPAYING. When we arrived at the airport, American Airlines informed us that they were placing us on a flight leaving within minutes because our flight, scheduled for 6pm, was delayed and they could not guarantee that we would make our connection in Miami and ultimate destination if we waited. Although we notified both Club Mobay and Couples Sans Souci by email as soon we boarded, and asked them to cancel the reservation, they did not do so and we were unsuccessful in getting the charge reversed. The experience left a very sour taste to an otherwise delightful vacation.

Firstly, let me give a quick idea on what to expect in terms of the vibe: - ‘Couples’ (& the online photos of the kind of couples there) is a little misleading - it is full of large groups of adults there on group holidays - This resort has a much older crowd than other Couples - The au natural bit is not just one of many facilities, it is THE reason why most guests travel there - everyone is over there (they had a better beach, with their own pool & bar etc.), which often made the rest of the resort feel dead/empty. Fine if you want to relax in peace, but at night it lacked any vibe & unless you wanted to get your kit off, every night was an early night (perhaps in part due to the older crowd!) Let me start by saying the staff here are amazing & are the best part of the experience - Vashan took excellent care of us at the bar & always made us feel special. The entertainment team were incredible (Shenice, Mcque - sorry I’ve probably spelled that wrong - and the other guy who I can only remember introduced himself as ‘Jeff’ 😂) - they were so fun & friendly. We loved how all the staff seemed to genuinely have fun with the guests - there was no ‘yes sir, no sir’, more like they were friends & were always smiling & joking with you. The highlight was getting to see them relax & do their thing dancing to Jamaican music, which is what I wanted to see & experience being in Jamaica! We made sure to name all of the staff in the survey, so I hope they get the kudos they deserve. It made us really sad to hear rumours of how little they earn, when we understood tips were included in the price & fairly distributed. As for the resort itself, it was really lovely & peaceful with its own private beach, but due to the refurbishment, it was not the 5* experience we paid for.. The hotel informed us 1 working day before our trip that they still had refurbishment works going on that would impact our stay. It said ‘minimal disruption’, but upon arrival we learned that essentially half the resort was unusable, as facilities were either closed or you’d have to endure the sound of loud drilling whilst trying to relax… They moved the restaurants around as one was closed due to the refurbishment, creating a makeshift buffet outside on the grass by a pond, where your heels sank into the mud (guests even referred to it as ‘the swamp’ as it smelled of sewerage) - not exactly the 5* dining experience expected. To make things worse, this was the only option for dinner if you hadn’t pre-booked one of the other 2 restaurants, a task that was nearly impossible thanks to choppy wifi. They also advertise 24 hour dining, but that was nowhere to be found.. the few times we attempted room service after returning to the resort late after an excursion, the app didn’t work & no one answered the phone, resigning us to ‘the swamp’ yet again. Our room was fantastic - spacious & spotless, thanks to Sandy & team, who did a fab job & were very friendly. Okeil was brilliant & carried our 2 23kg suitcases up 2 flights of stairs without breaking a sweat, and also kindly drove us up the hill to the martini bar when we asked where to find it, as I was in heels.. we really appreciate staff like him who go the extra mile. The evening entertainment would benefit from being switched up a little - it was a different singer every night, most of whom were great, but some more interactive entertainment would have been nice. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend for couples looking for peace & quiet in beautiful surroundings, just not while the refurbishments are taking place.

Well it started with them giving us a room that was significantly smaller than than what we reserved. We immediately called front desk and was told that was considered a Ocean Front Suite, even though it was completely different than the pictures and looked more like a regular Garden Room. Said they would have manager call us. Never did and we ended up having to go to front desk and get manager. She switched us immediately to correct room. Grateful, but not the start we hoped for. By that time it is now 5:05, no food options available unless you want to order room service and wait for that. Keep in mind All Inclusive Resort with several restaurants and grills, but no food at that time till 6:30. Not eating most of the day due to travel there. Orders room service, the very basics available. Ordered for 6:30, and 6:30 comes and goes so call room service. They don’t see any order, glitch in system they said. Did finally get hamburger about 7:00. At that point would have eaten tree bark and sand. Ordered breakfast for next morning and put on door knob, gone in the morning so hopeful for breakfast. 6:30-7:00. Time comes and goes. Called again. They finally found order and said it would be there soon. Then ice bucket in room, asked for ice several times never showed up. Finally just took the bucket ourselves to front desk and got ice. Someone mentioned this was a 5 star resort. It may be if the ratings go to 50. Oh by the way this is just the first few days highlights, still here and will update when we leave.

We have stayed at our fair share of all inclusive resorts across the Caribbean, and this one definitely takes last place. I’m not sure if it’s because we were with a group of couples or not, but the service from the bartenders specifically that my husband and I received was awful. On multiple occasions when I went to the bar to get a drink I was ignored or made to feel like and inconvenience for ordering drinks. One bartender in specific was extremely rude to us almost the whole time. And we were only there for 4 days. He kept saying “I got you next” but then would help someone else. Then he walked out from the bar to go clean up cups around the pool while I was still waiting. Same bartender different day, I was waiting and he was ignoring me so I went back to my husband and told him and he went up and the bartender told him he’s closing the bar now. Was it because we weren’t tipping? Because we were told by our travel agent as well as the couples website that tipping wasn’t allowed. The rest of the staff we encountered was nice. Especially our housekeeping lady in building A she was so sweet! Our air conditioner also constantly leaked, like raining leaked. For the price we paid, I think we were just disappointed, especially in how we were treated.

Dear T7985IJcassandraw, Thank you for staying at Couples Sans Souci. We are disappointed to learn that your stay was negatively impacted by an encounter with a bar attendant. Please be advised that tipping is not permitted and your mentioned comments are certainly not the standard of service that we are known for. It is unfortunate that we were unable to address this during your visit as it was not brought to our attention then. We also sincerely apologize for the challenge with the air conditioner in your room which has now been repaired. We appreciate your kind words about our staff and assure you that your feedback is being reviewed by management. Kind Regards, Michelle G

This is a hard review to write. I’ve struggled with how to convey thoughts that will be constructive and helpful. There are good things about this resort (staff and buildings) as well as some things that were under par (lack of activities, beach, food, management). The frontline staff of this resort would be the ONLY reason that we would return. Trudy Ann got us checked in even though we were 4 hours later than we should have been. We asked for a couple of adjustments, and she made them happen for us. Jeff the bellman was very helpful in getting us where we needed to be after a very long travel day. Karen and Rascine were amazing with guest services. They sat with us at the Repeater’s Dinner since we were late getting to the resort and made us feel welcome immediately and gave us the verbal tour of the resort. Both these ladies are exceptional stewards for Couples San Souci. Shamara, Alex, Kadene, and Anesia were all excellent wait staff that were awesome at their jobs. Shanae, Ashley, Austin, and Mickhugh with the entertainment team were fun to be around and kept things lively. Dwight and Shelton with the water sports crew were very helpful and made us always feel safe when partaking in those activities. Deborah with housekeeping did a great job making sure our room was maintained and stocked daily. Our room in Building B was beautiful and very comfortable. It was close everything and I would highly recommend Building B for anyone looking to be close to the beach, pool, etc. Those were the highlights for us. These are the lackluster parts of the vacation. I’ll start with this. When we arrived at the airport, there was nothing to drink in the Couples lounge at the airport other than 1 bottle of lukewarm water. That set the mood for the day. We had to wait until the midpoint “rest stop” to purchase a couple of red stripes to get us to the resort. There is an abject lack of daily activities going on pool side or on the beach. When we asked for pool volleyball to be set up, we were told that management wouldn’t allow them to do it except on days when it was scheduled. The overall food quality and variety was substandard compared to other resorts, including other Couples resorts. There were surprises and good food (the snapper sandwich for lunch at Bella Vista was amazing and was Carole’s omelets), but overall, it was bland, lukewarm, and didn’t have much variety. For three straight days, the pasta station at the buffet didn’t change from lunch to dinner other than adding meat options for dinner. The beach is very small. If you like to run the beach in the morning, this isn’t the resort for you. Our final comment would be on the management of the resort. We saw the GM every day we were there. Every time he was around, the atmosphere of the resort changed. There was less laughing and smiling and lot more grimacing and tension, and not just from the staff. Another member of management walked around the resort glaring at guests and lurking in the shadows which made my wife very nervous. Management is a hard business; I am in that line myself. However, micromanaging and managing with fear is not a good way to ensure longevity of your staff. My final comment is this. If you are into the au naturel aspect of your vacation, this is the resort for you. If we had known this ahead of time, we wouldn’t have booked this resort. On one day in particular, there were 18 guests at the clothed pool and 44 on the beach. That leaves about 300 other guests that were at the Sunset Beach. I’m not judging, to each their own, but I go to meet people and have a good time. I can sit in a deck chair at my own pool any time I want. Another telling reflection of this statistic is that there was 1 bartender in the swim up bar, with no pool attendants, and 1 bartender in the beach bar. Both bars were very slow and were insanely low on stocked items. Would we return to Couples San Souci? No, we wouldn’t. We had a good vacation because we enjoy each other’s company, and we enjoyed the staff.

So our experience at Couples San Souci was a bit different than most because we didn't see the sun for 3 straight day (literally). The sun went behind the clouds early Wednesday morning and we did not see it again until we left for the airport on Saturday. Now this has nothing to do with the resort, but it made for an altogether different experience than we expected. A few things worth noting: The drive to the resort is a long, bumpy, and nail biting 2 hour drive. If you get car sick, plan accordingly. Also, the resort is beautiful, but it is built into a large cliff. This makes the resort blend naturally with the beautiful landscape of Jamaica, but if you have knee or back problems, you may want to ask for a ground level room. Check-in was a bit clunky. They left our bags out front, told us our room was not ready, told us to scan a code on our phone that did not work, and then drove us down to lunch in our jeans and dropped us off. Perhaps a nice rum punch, a place to change, a physical map of the resort, etc. would have been nice? We had the pleasure of staying in the D-Block of rooms. So from one balcony chair you could see the ocean and from the other balcony chair you could see the mountains. The room was bright white, recently upgraded, clean, huge shower, and it looks like they just installed new sound-proof sliding doors. Very useful when the peacocks scream outside your room at 4am! Unfortunately, the rain caused issues throughout the resort. I don't think they were used to having everybody go back to their rooms for so long because the power grid went out numerous times and the TV was spotty the entire stay. Also, they planned many outdoor activities that had to be rescheduled to smaller inside venues. The only real negative comment that we had was them closing everything during Tuesday and Friday night for the group events. The bars near the beach are way too small to serve 300 people and the servers were overworked and the bar was crowded. Finally, and no fault of the resort, to all of you that wake up at 5am to claim your spots on the beach I wish you would stop. Some people claimed good seats and never showed up until well after lunchtime. I go on vacation to relax, not to rush out at 6am so I can get an umbrella.
