From our arrival at MoBay, we didn’t have to lift a finger. Sandals took care of everything. Clean and spacious room. Plentiful eateries with good food. Variety of Cocktails flowing. Great water activities and Entertainment. A well run place delivered by a great team. Calling out a few exceptionals: Kirk from Water Sports Paul from Vista Skye Crystella from Reception Horatio from Le Gormond Natasha from Jerk Shack And the Entertainment team. Things to improve on: Stop the random charge for wine during the Sip & Paint session. A couple of staff didn’t get the ‘customer service memo’ ;). Fix the clock in reception. Nothing major tbh.

Let me start by acknowledging 5 outstanding Sandals Ochi staffers who need to be properly recognized and praised are: Britney, Brittainy, Romario (entertainment). Jodi Ann (housekeeping). Llamoy Gillespie aka G. Q. (Sales) Lengthy please bear with me. 👇🏼 My Sandals Ochi Review. 1/30/23- 2/6/23. Our first time at Sandals Ocho Rios (Ochi). Flight from NYC to Montego Bay Arrived at airport 12:45 on Monday 1/30/23. Airport was not too busy in the arrivals - We did have Club Mobay - as soon as we went down the ramp we were met with a Club Mobay Rep Christopher who was holding a sign with our names. He took our passports as we proceeded to the immigration area. Went through that process very quickly and then escorted to club Mobay Lounge for refreshments- Note. Sandals also has a lounge next door also you can use while waiting to have your luggage loaded onto Bus. ** Just a quick note: the club Mobay lounge departing Montego Bay much better, more food beverages. (More on that later. Your reservations are checked and they put colored stickers on your luggage I think purple stickers for Beach Club and Green for Hillside Arrived at Sandals minor confusion on their part. My sticker didn’t match the accommodations. We were to be on the beach side but wound up on the hillside (worked out better for us) - went to guest services to check in and get brief orientation and a welcome drink. FYI - They do ask you to put a $400 hold on your credit card. They tried several times to enter my card AMEX but wouldn’t take. They told me to Call the bank. With AMEX you don’t need to notify them before international travel but I did and was all good to go. This issue went on for 2 days. A subsequent check with AMEX revealed the glitch was on Sandals system - be aware some credit card companies want you to notify them before you travel abroad. They also tell you a time to meet with a Sandals rep to do an orientation the next day. Ooops we missed bc we were tired and wanted sun. As far as rooms, I wound up with a better than expect room no butler - in a suite/villa. Building #30 Hillside. Be aware it’s very hilly and even the best in shape get tired going up that steep hill. Room was very nice with patio and shared small pool and a cat I named Bob Marley - Remember you’re in a warmer climate and you may see little tiny ants in your tub - no big deal to meal. A lot of staff driving around in golf carts and ginty’s - you can ask them for a ride and they will oblige you. Here’s the part some will scream about. TIPS…. Yes, they are not supposed to look for tips or even accept them. You do whatever you feel, I’m not here to judge- Don’t try to tip them in front of the front desk area. They are being watched. Plenty of activities and shows, just look for TV screens for daily activities- An issue at the hillside pool. People get up early to grab towels and put them on their chairs to save seats. If it’s your first time and you want to do that take 2 fresh towels per chair late in the afternoon from the towel holders scattered about pool area - suggest you also use towel clips for chair. Witnessed incident where person got up early saved 2 chairs at beach side then walked to bathroom (beach side) some clown and his nasty wife came along wanted the same chairs/spot and moved these peoples personal articles left there. When they were questioned about it, they said their Butler saved these chairs for him. NOPE according to supposed Ochi Rules, butlers cannot save chairs. (Same people caused a minor spectacle the following day on the Hop- (drunk) Make your restaurant reservations as soon as you check in. The ones we ate at the food and service was good. Kimonos however, in my opinion didn’t seem to have large portions - All of the staff we encountered were very polite and helpful especially Britney and Brittainy at the great pool. The Rabbit Hole speak easy was nice. Advice, it’s very cold in there be prepared. Get the daily password from any staff member. They re use some of the passwords (Gumshoe - Bootleg ) you will get in anyway Nice shows at the amphitheater on beach side. Between hill and beach sides there are alot of stairs and hills - those with ambulation issues be advised. The staffers do appreciate positive reviews on trip advisor and they receive gifts - I was informed by one of the staff performers that if they get a bad Trip Advisor review, they get in trouble. (These guys and gals work really hard and don’t get paid too well) New friends were made here A lot of the other guests were friendly- my opinion about 99.5%. Some people won’t be happy no matter what. Now… housekeeping. My room service housekeeper was Jodi-Ann. A real sweetheart. Would leave nice daily notes on a note pad - and we would respond in kind. She made a lot of those towel animals and kept the room clean and well stocked. Some of the rooms are out dated and I believe renovations will be made soon. (We only went to room sleep and wash up) so the appearance didn’t bother us. On departure day, you need to be at the airport 3 hours before and it’s a 1 1/2 hour ride to Montego Bay airport. (Don’t know about Kingston) You will probably get a notice slipped under your door the night before departure- day of departure about 1 hour before the bus takes you to airport you can have your luggage waiting outside your door so they can pick it up and bring it to the lobby area. Club Mobay departure area Montego Bay breezed through security. Worth it for us since the airport at noon time was a little chaotic and there was a taxi strike going on. This club Mobay has a larger area more food beverages and waitress service I may have missed a few points and will add anything else if I think of it. Overall, my first visit to Sandals left us very happy. The Jamaican people are very hospitable which made it most enjoyable - As a re-cap. This is not an elegant resort. The carpets are filthy. The food was so so. The booze in the room was never stocked. My expectations were much higher. I will look for something more classy next time. Food on a cruise ship is way better. Tub and shower in room on Riviera side was a disappointment. I would gladly spend an extra $3k for a better experience and clientele.

The entire trip was amazing. The scenery is beautiful, the water is warm and the people are friendly. I went for my honeymoon and it was 100% worth it. Our favorite part of the trip was the Piano Sing Along with Kingroy. It’s such a fun time and Kingroy is great at working with the crowd and keeping everyone engaged. We were there every night that it was going and I highly recommend checking it out if you’re there.

This was our second visit to the exact same resort. It was like a home coming that I will never forget. The biggest difference was this time we decided to get a butler room. Derrick and Alshane made it to where I cannot come back to sandals without butler service now. It was AMAZING. 1000/10 highly recommend. It was our anniversary trip and they definitely delivered at making it such a memorable special experience. Not to mention the special perks like coconut shrimp in your room daily! These two really delivered and we will be forever thankful for the care they put into making us feel welcomed. The resort overall is such a cool vibe as well. We were invited to a butler cruise and let me tell you, if you are invited it’s a must! We met some awesome people like Pranaya (hope I spelled it right) and David who helped take really good care of us on the cruise. We danced, ate, drank and had a blast!! It was on our last night at the resort so it was the PERFECT way to end it. Big round of applause for the entertainment team!! There’s so many names to list but please know this mean ALL entertainers/dancers/game makers, thanks for the fun. The stay was also comfortable as well. We had our own private pool villa that sadly we didn’t get a chance to take advantage of. My only advice to sandals would be to PLEASE let’s find a happy medium with the cats! Due to the overwhelming amount of them we didn’t really enjoy that perk. Which can be disheartening due to the fact you’re paying a pretty penny so you would like to use the perk of the room. I’ve seen on a lot of FB post people love the cats. But here’s my issue. The cats are suppose to be there to help keep rodents away. However the guest that feed them at dinner with their utensils really shouldn’t be allowed to. When the cats are constantly fed it defeats the purpose because they refuse to hunt. Which turns back to the question why are so many there? Just a suggestion because it just seems that their purpose is not being fulfilled and to people who may have a fear/dislike of cats to be honest they wouldn’t like staying here. For the cats alone I know not to recommend this place to a close family member with a dreadful fear of cats. Other than that I cannot stress enough how amazing the Sandals experience is and I hope more people are blessed to enjoy it. One love…

Sandals Ochi! Beautiful resort so big it’s crazy..love that, very modern in my eyes. Upon entry, we were greeted by a security who assisted us with finding the lobby. The Male & Female night auditors at the front desk were very kind to us. There’s a bus called ‘The Hop’ that does the shuttle service from the Hillside to the Seaside/ Beach club, very convenient, on time and clean. A big shoutout to two managers that I came across on the Beach club side Ms. Martin & Mr. Bailey. We met some of the energetic Entertainment Staffs, we played volleyball with Sashane, Brittney, Raheem & Tyree. Tyree then went ahead and got us drinks from the bar, he went above and beyond for us, Thank you for your service Tyree. The All-white Silent disco party was so fun, then followed by Karaoke, the night life was booming and to top it off, we visited the night club which had a beautiful view of the ocean. Oh, I think the name of the Club is indeed called ‘Ocean’. Shanton from Marina served good drinks, appreciate you. Anissa from the Great house pool bar was very welcoming also. But my favourite Bartenders would be ; Tanika ,Samantha and Delano, they really worked well, they know how to put a smile on a face and a good taste to sooth the taste buds. Rushane (Saxophonist) is really talented, also he played for my friend because it was her Birthday, thank you sir. Lydia had great energy on the buffet, she was our server. We had a wonderful time at Sandals Ochi. We thought the beach and pools were nice, the staff very friendly and never felt crowded. We did get reservations for dinner and they were decent meals, although Kelly's and Le Gourmand took forever. We stayed hillside and the hop did run frequently, but I would have preferred to be beachfront. It's nice to just be able to go your room during the day and not have to ride back and forth. Guests were friendly as well. The resort is in need of renovations, but nothing was horrible and overall well maintained. My biggest complaint is the tipping. I guess I am naive, but when it said tips included, I believed it. I am sure you could not tip, but the expectation is there. I just want to go on a trip where I am not thinking about much money to give every person, all day long. I would rather just pay tipping upfront and be done with it. Also, my room did not have wine and when I asked for some, I got a bottle but nobody asked what kind or anything. In my mind I thought would be multiple selections in room stocked daily. Overall, these are not huge issues and we did truly relax and enjoy ourselves. Oh, and the shuttle ride takes FOREVER. They stop at a rest area that has merchants, seems like another way to encourage us to spend additional money. After two flights and a long line through immigration, the 3 hours to get to the hotel was ridiculous. One more thing, there is not an elevator if that matters. For us, it didn't.…

My experience at Sandals Ochi was one that I will never forget! The team is awesome! The rooms were filled with all necessities needed to cover everything if you had only packed clothes and come on the trip. We were constantly checked on to assure all we needed was provided. Amazing ! We stayed for our wedding and the team at sandals made it the perfect wedding getaway for me and my wife ! The housekeeping were amazing and made our room feel like a home from home daily ! It was so sweet ! The epix photo shop did such a great job of our wedding photos. SYNATRA was amazing she went above and beyond with organising and processing mine and my wife’s wedding photos. We couldn’t thank her enough ! And the photographer Charldon was amazing , so professional but relaxed and fun ! We had such a great time ! Thanks again sandals ochi !
