This was out 8th Jan visit and once again we really enjoyed our stay. Of note on this visit is that I thought the food had improved, particularly in the main restaurant. We ate in every night, bar one, when we made our usual visit to the excellent nearby Italian restaurant, PGs Toscanini. The beach restaurant tables have a different evening menu to the main restaurant providing a variety of choice onsite, including tasty pizzas.

The staff were as friendly and professional as usual and it is good to see such low turnover. A shout out to the regular beach guys and two new additions, Xavier and Ian. Also Samantha is a great addition to the waiting staff - so friendly and cheerful. Our regular housekeeper Nicole was as thorough and as friendly as ever. Thanks to the staff on the front desk including the ever smiling Kingsley and office staff including Guest Services manager Miss Sherlene who regularly tours the beach to make sure everything is ok with guests (and the new team member Gilbert) plus not forgetting Gerry in reservations too. Finally I should mention Gray and Alvin do a great job running the restaurants.

One big difference with this location compared to when we used to go to Barbados is the beach is private and you don't get a stream of hawkers hassling you to buy stuff. It's very private with ample sun beds so people don't feel the need to rush out at dawn to reserve one.

Also I recommend asking the Jamaica Inn front desk directly to arrange a taxi collection from (to) the airport as I heard stories this year from other guests of taxis arranged through travel agents not turning up, which is the last thing you need after a 9 hour flight.

All in all a very relaxing enjoyable visit. Thank you again

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review Bertles! And thank you for choosing to stay with us again! We're thrilled to hear that your 8th visit was as enjoyable as the previous ones. It’s wonderful to know that you noticed improvements, especially with the food. We're also grateful for the kind shout-outs to our staff, who truly make the experience special. It's fantastic to hear that Xavier, Ian, and Samantha added to your experience, and that Nicole, Kingsley, Sherlene, Gilbert, Gray, Alvin & Gerry :-) all made an impact. We’re so lucky to have such a dedicated team! And you're absolutely right about the beach, our private, peaceful setting is one of the things that makes us unique, and we're happy it’s part of what keeps you coming back. Your tip about arranging taxis directly through the front desk or reservations is also really helpful for future guests, so thank you for that! We can't wait to welcome you back for your next stay. Until then, take care and thank you again for being such a loyal guest! Gerry

Our fourth visit, remarkable for that alone as we've traveled a lot, all over, including all around the Caribbean, and Jamaica Inn is the only place we return to this way. In no small part because it keeps getting better every time we visit. The beach is perfect, assiduously maintained, private, peaceful. We love the suites on the water. There's a perfect gym to offset excellent food & drinks. But perhaps, now, the larger part of our return visits is that, at this most lovely of luxury small resorts, when we walk up to the reception desk, we're greeted with smiles and "Welcome home." When we see a favorite waitperson on our first evening, she laughs and hugs us and says "Welcome home." The gentleman who brings towels to our favorite lounges under the grape tree at the near end of the beach grins and says "Welcome home." It's fun to think of a resort this great, this truly ideal and infinitely relaxing, as one's home away from home; but we do, and look forward to returning again and again. Congratulations, and many thanks to every single member of the Jamaica Inn family.

Hi LAinNY, Thank you so much for your kind words and for making Jamaica Inn your cherished "home away from home." It’s truly heartwarming to hear that your fourth stay with us was yet another remarkable experience. We are thrilled that you continue to find joy in our private and peaceful beach, your favorite suites on the water, and even the perfect gym to balance out those indulgent culinary treats. But what touches us most is knowing that our team has made such a lasting impression on you. Those warm “Welcome home” greetings are a true reflection of the love and care we aim to share with all our guests, especially our returning family like you. My husband and I have been guests at Jamaica Inn since 1977. It's become our favorite hotel in the world and we usually gain five pounds during our stay. The property is located on a beautiful, secluded beach that is kept immaculate by Albert, Marvin, Winston and Desmond. There is not a bad room in the hotel, all have sea views, verandahs or balconies and Molton Brown toiletries that will make you smell divine. It's a five-star hotel, but never stuffy. You can read or play a game in the historic library, take a nap in a hammock, enjoy meeting other guests at the beach bar or croquet lawn and swim in the crystal clear sea. Drinks are expertly crafted by Patrick, Stretch, Patrice (my honorary Jamaican daughter), Ashaleen and Palmer. I highly recommend the Planter's Punch that's delivered to you daily at 11:00 am. Wait, you don't drink rum so soon after breakfast? You will. Trust me. The resident black lab Shadow paddleboards and plays catch on the property so you won't miss your family pet back home. The wait, housekeeping, bell, bar, beach and garden staff will wish you a good day or night, remember your name, and seem to sense like magic when you may need a fresh towel or another glass of wine. Dining under the stars on the gorgeous terrace is a step back in time to old world elegance that never goes out of style. The banana bread, fudge, plantain and coconut chips are treasured Inn recipes that haven't changed in over fifty years. Pro tips: If you want a secluded verandah, the west wing is for you. Early risers can find coffee/tea service outside the upstairs bar every morning. Order breakfast in your robe and dine on your verandah, at least a few times. The extremely talented band plays nightly, but plan on staying to hear Shaye sing on Thursday nights. Make sure to seek out Carter (waiter) and Jason/Todd (bar) in the green jackets. The staff sets this hotel apart from all the rest and keep it running flawlessly. And when you return, ( and I know you will) unpack, settle in, crash on a lounger and congratulate yourself that you made it back home again.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel in a room looking out to the beach. All the staff were friendly and very attentive (especially the beach team who keep it in such a good condition that both people and turtles use it). We even got the chance to speak to/ ask questions to management and the owners.

The small amount of rooms meant that I could relax, felt safe and make the most of the facilities available when I wanted.

Yes there are properties that cost less is Ocho Rios, but this was a holiday that I will never forget for the experience I received when I was there.

The town itself is handy for tours to various water-based places (e.g. Dunn’s Fall and Dolphin Cove) if that is what you would like to do. We choose to do a tour of Kingston and Nine Miles. They were within a good distance to be an enjoyable full or half day (and much less in a car in comparison to if we stayed in Montego Bay or Negril).

You can also absorb yourself in the activities that the hotel offers and have a relaxing break away from your normality in an atmosphere with lovely food and a view that you will never forget.

Dear DorsetgirlLondon, Thanks for leaving us this wholesome review! We're happy you found the core elements of Jamaica Inn to be exactly what you needed from your luxurious tropical getaway. Exchanging stories and laughs is something we love because we get to connect with you and ensure you are having the stay you want. For 65 years, our leaders have socialized and fostered hundreds of friendships that add to the culture and character of the Inn. It is wonderful that you appreciate the seclusion of a room here. I agree that it helps transport you from the hustle and bustle of the outside world, to a little cove of paradise that is all yours. It's quite gratifying that you love the magic of our property so much. It's good that you indulged in our on-property activities; there is so much (and so liittle!) to do here. Many guests are so enamored with the Inn when they visit, they don't leave the property. We are thrilled that you got to explore the majesty of our island home! I bet it was an interesting trip, getting to experience the sights and sounds of the Jamaican countryside, while also taking a peek at the vibrancy of our nation's capital. Happy you enjoyed it. We're excited to welcome you home for another wonderful vacation! Take care till then. Best regards, Rueyella Blake, Executive Assistant Manager.

If you’re looking to reset, recharge, and rejuvenate…. The Jamaica Inn will be a perfect getaway. The entire staff was warm and welcoming from the beginning of our trip to the very end. The food is AMAZING. Please don’t miss the 4 o’clock tea time or the 7-8 pm cocktail hour. You will thank me later. Our room was a walk-out to the beach. The veranda is a great spot to order a little breakfast to have the well-deserved slow morning. Our room was cleaned twice per day and a sweet treat awaits you when you return from dinner. Book a spa appointment! According to my husband….THE BEST massage he’s ever had. (and he’s had quite a few). Play a game of croquet, or backgammon. Take time to read those books you’ve been wanting to catch up on. Take a paddle board or a kayak out onto the crystal clear ocean. Or just use a float and forget all of your worries.
I can’t say enough about this experience. My husband and I are already looking at dates to come back here later this year. Yes! It’s THAT good.
The Jamaica Inn will take you back in time and make you feel like your most amazing self.

Welcome home to Jamaica Inn. It truly is a splendid hotel and lives up to all expectations.

The staff are so welcoming, friendly and kind.

Highlights of this hotel are the afternoon tea. It’s beautifully presented and gives you a chance to catch up and mix with other guests. The cocktail parties, followed by dinner on some evening are exceptional. The James Bond film shows on the beach is another great idea.

We enjoyed sailing down from Jamaica Inn on a kayak and up the White River.
Geary (the boatman at the hotel) took two of our party fishing and they caught some great tuna, which we ate for dinner at the hotel.

The owners are really friendly and down to earth and as Jamaicans, they really know so much about the local area. They are also really committed to conservation of the reefs, turtles and fish life too, through the Jamaica Inn Foundation.

The rooms are very clean and well presented. The only slight drawback was we had a room really near to the dining area and bar and one night some guests were being rowdy and annoyingly loud on the upper terrace right next to our room. After we rang down to complain, the night duty receptionist asked them politely to tone it down.

I would have liked to have seen more of Shadow, the dog. We knew Shadow (the old black labrador) who had been trained to take life buoys out to anyone appearing to be in distress in the sea. Shadow the pup is deep in training and so wasn’t allowed to run around loose or mix with guests, hopefully this will change as he gets older.

Special mention to Murray (bar man who has been there 53 years) long may you continue your great work! Thanks to the bar staff who brought our fruit punch on the beach mid morning and beach staff who beautifully arranged the sunbeds on the beach, to the waiters and waitresses for their hard work, to the band in the evening and their lady singer who is superb.

The Yoga class in the spa was excellent, very relaxing and spiritual. The spa is beautiful, however after being in Negril where really great massage and reflexology is a fraction of the price, I did not have any treatments here. I do think the Inn is a bit overpriced for these treatments, unfortunately.

Overall, we all had a fantastic time. You don’t feel like you’re on holiday at Jamaica Inn, it’s home from home. Well done to all the team and hope to see you again very soon!

Every year, my wife and I take a trip to the Caribbean for our anniversary in June. We have visited some fantastic islands over the years! Our favorites have always been less crowded and had more of a boutique feel. Due to this, I was hesitant (as was my wife) to book a trip to Jamaica. After tons of research, I finally landed on booking the Jamaica Inn. Best decision I could have made!

The resort exceeded my expectations in every way! It sits on a fantastic stretch of beach that is large enough to never feel crowded and meticulously maintained. We stayed in a Premier Verandah Suite on the beach wing, which I would highly recommend. You have a huge outdoor area with direct beach access and amazing views. If you read through the reviews, you will hear about the staff over and over. It sets the bar high, but they absolutely deliver! They have top-notch customer service, as you would expect, but what sets them apart is how authentic they are. Every member of the staff makes you feel like they are genuinely happy you are there. A few that really went out of their way during our stay were Demar, Patrick, Ashalene, and Patrice. The Jamaica inn is truly a magical place that is unlike any other place we have ever stayed.

Dear BJ, Thanks for leaving us this wonderful review! We're happy that Jamaica Inn perfectly provides what you need for an intimate, luxurious escape from everyday life. Our beach attendants are out as early as 6 am taking care of our big, beautiful beach. I agree that stepping off your verandah onto the pristine Caribbean shore truly offers a tropical experience like no other. Happy you appreciate the passionate care we give to our little piece of paradise. Thanks for these compliments to the team! We truly enjoy working at the Inn, and we're glad you can tell. It is with great joy that we cater to the environment and people we encounter here. We are so happy to read these names and know that you are left with memorable interactions. Will be sure to pass these commendations on to these team members. We're excited to welcome you home for another magical getaway! Take care until then. Somehow the Jamaica Inn found the warmest, most welcoming people on the planet to be on the staff at this resort. Our dinner waiter Carter made us feel relaxed and comfortable with his elegant service. Our bartender Stretch was quick to smile and even quicker to help us get our cocktails at dinner. At the beach bar, Willams, Ashalene, and Patrick were genuinely interested getting to know us and offered excellent drinks whenever our heart desired. Christopher, Desmond and Winston set up our beach chairs every day (even taking the towels off and on several times when there were morning showers) and made us feel like royalty. Ovan showed us the adorable baby turtles and patiently answered all our turtle questions.

Besides the amazing staff, we stayed at the Blue Cottage which in our opinion was one of the best rooms we have stayed at in all of the Caribbean with literally only steps to the beach with a huge veranda and plenty of room for our family of three.

The food was amazing. We had the meal plan and we took full advantage with elaborate 5 course dinners where we enjoyed the sounds of the house band. We had lobster, steak, lots of fish, and enough pasta to keep our pre-teen happy. Breakfast on our veranda was a special experience. We all enjoyed the blueberry pancakes! Everything we ordered was very tasty.

We hope to be able to go "back home" to the Jamaica Inn sometime soon.

Dear Elizabeth, Thanks for this wonderful review! We will definitely share these sentiments with our team members, especially those you mentioned. We all love working here and we enjoy taking care of everyone who passes through, so it is no surprise to hear the level of care you received while here. Indeed, everyone who stays with us is royalty and we'll never cease to ensure you feel that way. The Blue Cottage is one of our jewels here at the Inn, great choice! Unbelievably high ceilings, a room with space for a living area, and a large verandah with beach access are almost unheard of, but we have it wrapped up right here. It's great to know you loved it. We will definitely let our chef know that you enjoyed all your meals. The pasta here is my personal favourite, so I'm happy your pre-teen liked it too. Sounds like you enjoyed sampling our different catches of the day! That is wonderful. I agree that breakfast on the patio, overlooking the blues and greens of the ocean with those you love, is a special experience. It's very good to know that you enjoyed every aspect of the old-school luxury we provide. We're excited to welcome you back home for another breathtaking vacation. Take care till then. Overall this is a very pretty property with lovely staff. We stayed two nights and are glad to have checked it out. The beach was terrific and the entire property was classic.

Out of the control of the property was noise at night. Two nights in a row there was very loud music coming from somewhere off property that went on until about 2:00 am then started again at 6:00 am so needless to say we didn’t sleep well.

We were in the balcony rooms so closer to the main road I believe. Not sure if rooms in a higher level would have this issue.

The floor to our room was appalling and at $650 a night in high season, I would expect better. Filthy and stained. We check for bed bugs everywhere we stay so noticed the mattress was old and dirty looking. However the rest of the room was fine with ample closet space etc and of course a lovely balcony with great views!

Of concern for safety- our deadbolt jammed and could barely open so we used the very flimsy handle lock. The unit below us had a smoke detector going off one evening and had there been an actual fire, the jamming deadbolt would have been disastrous for someone in a panic. I let someone know and she seemed to take it seriously and said she would pass it along.

One lifeguard or beach attendant was crabby and flag service was slow.

At $650 a night, I was surprised a simple breakfast wasn’t included. We travel frequently and this is rare to see breakfast not included.

There’s a lot of wonderful things about this property but they need to freshen things up a bit if they want to claim to be a grand property.

Food was good and both nights we stayed had entertainment and we loved the live music. Their spa was lovely.

I would not stay again but am glad we did visit just for two nights.

Dear bluebeaches147, We appreciate this review. We understand and apologize that aspects of your stay were not exactly to your liking. Jamaica's very active night life has seen a resurgence since the lifting of some COVID-19 restrictions last year, and we are truly sorry that this negatively impacted you. Fortunately, the authorities have become more active and respond more efficiently as many properties reported the noise pollution they are experiencing. have ramped up their monitoring of night-time events, so the noise hasn't been much of an issue since the period you stayed. Although we love the culture of our music and celebrations, government agencies confirmed they will continue to monitor the tourist areas. Yes, there are rooms on property that are virtually unaffected when the surrounding communities come alive. And we are working on adding sound proof windows in affected blocks. Though we take great pride in the upkeep of our original facilities and furniture from the early to mid-1900s, we understand the necessity of refining these facilities. Opportunely, we are on track for a soft renovation this September which promises to be a great complement to our beautiful grounds and seascape. Thank you for highlighting the issue with the locks, we have since changed them both and our team will continue to schedule more routine lock checks. The attitude of that beach attendant is certainly not in keeping with our culture here at the Inn. Our service is usually prompt and pleasant, so again we apologize that your experience did not holistically reflect this. We will continue to educate our team on the value of great customer service and good communication. As we are a traditional, European-style resort in a modern, highly inclusive market, we understand the expectation of (at least some) F&B inclusivity. We are taking this into consideration but do note that we have meal plans that can be selected at booking, arrival, or during your stay. Also, our 2024 rates are now confirmed and as of December 2023 we will include a full continental breakfast for all guests. Many thanks for the commendations; I will be sure to pass them on to our Chef and the Inner Groove band. The Ocean Spa here at Jamaica Inn has won numerous international awards, so it means a lot for you to attest to the standard of the services there. Again, we sincerely appreciate this review of our property . and hope we can welcome you home again one day to give you a more holistic experience of our little piece of paradise. Best Regards, Rueyella Blake, Executive Assistant Manager.

After we stepped out of the busy airport in Montego Bay, our first impression of Jamaica came in the distinguided and well spoken person of Oskar, the driver who picked us up,to take us to the famed Jamaica Inn. We were very much looking forward to going there, in Ocho Rios, because I had seen one picture from a dear friend of mine 5 years ago, and I had decided right then, that one day, I would make it to that hotel.
We arrived at tea time, one of the many perks of the Jamaica Inn, and my love affair started.
From the lush green and full of bougainvillea garden to the extended well manicured grounds, we were immediately immersed in a world long lost.
Our spacious room with a balcony afforded us a magnificent view of the multi hues of the blue ocean, and we were in full relaxation mode.
As soon as we finished our Blue Mountain coffee, we headed straight to the lounge chairs on the private beach where each morning, the sand is kept smooth by Raymond, one of the dedicated staff members.
Everybody at the Inn is so nice and caring that it is almost impossible to praise one over another, a salute to all of them, especially Patrice and Kimorah.
The customer is royally treated and
The intimate feel of the place is apparent. In the fact that daily, one of the owners, Eric and the general manager, Kyle, go around making sure all the guests are well. At the Jamaica Inn, people care, and we thank them for it, that certainly made our stay very special.
Without divulging all the little secrets that make the Inn unique, we thought the bonfire and the James Bond movie nights were unexpected and delightful. A revisit is a must!
With love from Nathalie and Gabriel S

You should be fine traveling from Kingston to Ocho Rios - just use a reputable transfer service - plenty of choices - ask for advice on the TripAdvisor Jamaica Travel Forum. Jamaica Inn provides this service as well.

Not big drinkers, plus we wanted to travel out to eat from more than just hotel, so in our case all inclusive was not financially sensible
