I cannot think of a better hotel in the world. The setting is beautiful. The staff cannot do enough for you. They even called Shadow the dog to come to say goodbye to us when we left. A nice addition is food at the beach bar (including pizzas) a couple of nights a week which is more informal. We failed again to make it off property - as why would you leave!! One idea - why not include a basic breakfast of fruit, toast and eggs as part of the room cost?
Dear SWHN16, We are delighted that once again you were able to experience our little piece of paradise here at the Jamaica Inn with a team who is always available to ensure that you have the best of stay. We are also thrilled that you like our new addition of the Teddy's Beach Grill with our pizza offerings. We have noted your suggestion of including a basic breakfast in the room cost and will definitely look into same. Wishing you all the very best for the rest of the year and look forward to welcoming you home again soon. Regards, Sherlene Hickling Guest Services

I would give it six stars if I could
First visit back after a very brief stay a year ago. This place is really quite sublime. Old school, very elegant, main buildings very well kept, staff is superb at friendliness and service, and management is nearly always around. We asked for a beachfront room and ended up in a spectacular waterfront room. Out back porch was directly on the rocks over the water. Building is old, but furnishings are like antiques and very well kept up. I heard another guest say that they must paint this place four times a year. No peeling paint or evidence of wear anywhere. The beach is a perfect crescent and is completely private for guests of this small hotel. While the rooms can be expensive, they stocked the fridge with some soft drinks and waters which were about 1/2 of what you get charged at other resorts for minibar. The food is superb, both at lunch and dinner. I think many people take all their meals at the resort but never seems too crowded. There is a dress code at dinner, and folks start collecting at the bar watching the sunset an hour or so before dinner. All dressed like adults, no t shirts and ball caps. Once the restaurant opens, everyone gradually goes down and gets seated. There is a band which is great, and each night the dinner menu is different enough that there is a lot on offer. Didn't have anything which didn't taste great. Also wine list is large, and has lots of reasonable bottles in the $40 range - which is unusual for many good restaurants. There are activities, but we prefer to sit on the beach and just relax - which is what this place is all about. For those looking for peace and quiet and adult relaxation, you can't do better than this! First class in every respect.

From the personal welcome by the owner to his personal farewell our eight days at the Jamaica Inn felt like we were staying with family. The blue and white buildings of the hotel blend beautifully with the clear blue sea of the private bay which the hotel occupies. A fifty room hotel that seems much smaller as the rooms are spread out over a large site, coupled with the discretion of the occupants. No rushing down to the beach to place a towel on a recliner, the beach attendants were always able to provide us with seats together with our family and at a discrete distance from our nearest neighbours. The rooms are old world elegant with spacious and very comfortable balconies where one can lounge away the afternoon after a busy day on the beach. The staff are for the most part very friendly and the 11.00 complimentary cocktail served on the beach is always welcome. There is little attraction in venturing off the property so we are there exclusively. The dinner menu changes regularly but the lunch menu is a bit limited and could do with freshening up a bit. Not sure how they make their french fries but not to my taste (but when that’s the only critical point it cannot be bad). We occupied three rooms adjoining each other and all of the family present said it was the best family holiday they had ever had. Every now and again you stay at a hotel that you are already thinking of returning to when you check out - I overheard one guest telling a fellow guest that it was her 64th year of staying there. That’s the sort of place it is. Highly recommended for anyone seeking peace and tranquility - a great place to unwind.

My wife and I are blessed to own a hotel in Negril. We live on property, the days can be long and at times a bit stressful. When we need to escape and re-charge our batteries, our go to resort is Jamaica Inn. The staff are what makes this hotel so very special. The laid back atmosphere, the amazing food, the tranquil beach. We were lucky to participate in a turtle release, which was memorable. I cannot speak more highly of Jamaica Inn. As a hotelier, I recommend it to anyone who wants to disconnect from the world and enjoy a vacation. Thank you to all the staff for always making our stay memorable and relaxing.

Dear mrussell, Thanks for leaving us a review! We especially appreciate when fellow hoteliers share their admiration for our little gem. It warms our hearts to know we provide you with a blissful escape every time you need one. You're right, our team members are the backbone of this special place, and we're happy your visits consistently reflect this. How wonderful it is that you experienced a turtle release! Just last night we had a nest that came up and went out by themselves! We made sure to count and watch them to ensure they all got in safely. It was a real treat after dinner for our guests. Again, we sincerely appreciate you sharing your love for Jamaica Inn in this review. We're looking forward to welcoming you and the Mrs. back home soon. Take care till then. Best regards, Rueyella Blake, Executive Assistant Manager.

I recently spent a milestone birthday at Jamaica Inn, my second stay there and it was the most special and memorable birthday I've ever celebrated. Everyone at Jamaica Inn went out of their way to make me feel special. Staff members I had never met greeted me with a smile and a happy birthday all week. I'm still not sure how they made that possible but I loved it! To start, there was an issue with my reservation (on my credit card travel company's side) and I just knew my trip was ruined. Jason at the Terrace bar was the first to calm my anxieties, first with a drink, then by assuring me that the team at Jamaica Inn would do everything in their power to resolve the issue to my liking or better. He said I had nothing to worry about and he was right! Shout out to Gerry and everyone in guest services and the front office who worked diligently and always had a smile and kept me calm and happy while everything was being sorted. The general manager, Kyle even walked by to wish me a happy birthday and let me know that the team was working on something special for me. I was elated! Once settled, I ended up in the most amazing cottage and while it was hard to leave my gorgeous room, I looked forward to seeing Patrick, Ashalene, and Williams at the beach bar every day. Some of the warmest and friendliest people I've ever met on vacation and every day they kept me well entertained and well taken care of! I also shared my actual birthday with 129 baby turtles, thanks to the turtle whisperer, Ovan. He was excellent and so informative. What a magical experience. All the servers at dinner, the chefs and the super talented live band made every evening a night to remember. I wish I had done this review sooner as I can't remember everyone's name but they all deserve a shoutout for all the birthday love they showed me. Did I mention we requested a cake and they baked it themselves and it was unbelievably beautiful and delicious?!! A trip to Jamaica Inn is only complete with a trip to the spa. I requested Kaydeen who I had the pleasure of being treated by the first time I stayed there. She is one of the best massage therapists I've ever experienced and you can tell she really knows what she's doing! The spa manager Sheree was also lovely whenever I had a question or needed anything. It's clear why they've won so many awards. Overall, there is something very special about this place and I can't say enough about all my amazing experiences. I'm so glad I chose to spend a birthday that was special to me there. Or maybe it was special just because I spent it there :) I will never forget it :) I cannot wait to return and am already planning it! After all, I can't let Shadow forget me. See you soon, Jamaica Inn Family!

Dear Nneka, Thanks for leaving us this lovely review! It was our pleasure to turn your frown upside down for your special day, and we’re so happy that our efforts left you with a birthday to remember! We recognized your disappointment the minute you realized the mixup with the reservation. Though it wasn’t our error, we knew we simply couldn’t let that ruin your stay with us. Trust me, our team members really know how to take the edge off things and ease your mind with light conversations, and careful consideration. We’re thrilled to know that we not only reassured you but exceeded your expectations with our delivery. As you know, when you’re part of the Jamaica Inn family, you’re our top priority. Welcoming you to your Jamaican home means everything that’s important to you, is important to us—especially milestone celebrations. We can just imagine how much it means to you to release new life into the world on your birthday! It warms our hearts to know just how much you enjoyed your birthday dinner. We’ve shared your compliments with these team members, so I’m sure they’re beaming with pride to know they took great care of you. Happy you loved the confectionary stylings of our pastry chefs. Though, it sounds like your time at the Ocean Spa was the icing on the cake 😉 Nneka, we’re delighted that you chose Jamaica Inn for our magic, and even happier that we made your birthday so special. It’s a great time having you in-house, so we’re excited to welcome you back home soon. We’ll be sure to give Shadow lots of belly rubs for you till that time. Take care till then! Best regards, Rueyella Blake, Executive Assistant Manager.

First class all round! Came to rest and relax and forget about the world for 8 days. Being English, I thought if it was good enough for Winston Churchill, it’s good enough for me. The people who work at Jamaica Inn make the difference. Patrice & Granville in Terrace Restaurant, Ashalene, Beach Bar, Christopher Life Guard. Genuine- kind hospitality, great service, really care. Great F&B is all about details, coffee excellent, fruit plates at breakfast- perfectly ripe papaya and mango! Wood fired pizza at lunch, crisp base, catch of the day at night always fresh, well seasoned with nice sides. Portions not too big, just right. Beach is heaven, enjoyed the snorkeling with colorful fish. Spa - massage was very enjoyable experience with Caribbean Sea as backing vocal. Loved the garden tour of hotel on Saturday morning. Owner of hotel, says Hi over breakfast coffee and wants to know about your stay…if everything is ok…wow. Rooms are top notch and comfortable beds, lovely Morton Brown toiletries. Ask for Keith as your taxi driver to pick you up at airport he was top drawer. Hotel is class, loved the dress code for dinner and getting dapper….wonderful band at dinner each night sets the scene. God willing hope to return next year….

Dear Josie, Thanks for this great review! We are proud to read just how much we lived up to your expectations. Even after half a century, the value of Winston Churchill's time with us remains solid, and we're happy we didn't disappoint. We're glad to know you quickly recognised the warmth within the wonderful personas of the people who work here. Will definitely pass your compliments on to these team members. Surely, the F&B team will be beaming when they hear just how much you appreciate their effort and attention to detail. We do our best to source organic, local ingredients to guarantee optimal quality and freshness, so we're thrilled you enjoyed the creations. We do a lot of environmental work to preserve the health of the coral reef just offshore, so we're happy you saw some of our marine neighbours who call it home! It's great we could immerse you in nature with a relaxing spa session and the Botanical Garden Tour. On Wednesdays, we also have a Spice & Fruit Tour where you get to sample the Jamaican fruits in season. Truly, we're pleased that you appreciate how our warm hospitality, premium amenities, and loyalty to tradition collaborate to create a timelessly luxurious experience. We're excited to welcome you home again when that time comes. Until then, do take care. Best regards, Rueyella Blake, Executive Assistant Manager.

My husband and I had a great time at the Inn. The staff very caring, courteous and accommodating. The beach is great, the spa is excellent - sorry we didn't have more time to enjoy more of the tranquil and the feel of the ocean breeze with splashing and dashing of the sea water against the rocks that forms the foundation for the huts and seating areas. Absolutely a great experience!

I had a welcome greeting by the reception Ann, she started me off with the lemongrass ginger ice tea which is absolutely refreshing, then I was greeted by the spa manager Sheree who was equally as pleasant. The highlight of my day of the ocean spa is the massage where i obtained the ocean package massage with Kenneth. The peace and tranquility felt during and after my massage is unmatched. I had lunch afterwards and relaxes by the water to complete my day. I would highly recommend visiting this spa not just for the massage but the overall customer service.

We have just returned from the most wonderful 9 days at Jamaica Inn and can see why their returning customer percentage is so high. We had a room in the west wing and the views were incredible - every evening before dinner we would sit with a glass or two of wine watching the sunset. This was our first holiday without our children and we wanted somewhere quiet, beautiful with good food and good service and Jamaica Inn delivered in all areas. The beach was fantastic - plenty of space for all the guests and very well kept. The sea was warm and clean and we were able to go snorkelling in the bay close to the hotel where there were plenty of fish to swim amongst. We thought we would eat out the much of the time, but the hotel restaurant served fantastic food and the dinner menu changed daily, which was a real bonus and kept the interest. However, what really made our stay special was that the staff were simply excellent and very engaging (including the owners) with a shout out to Williams, Patrick and Ashlene at the beach bar and Patrice in the terrace bar. All the housekeepers were so friendly, as was the head gardener who did a spice and herb garden tour with us, which was genuinely very interesting. There are plenty of excursions if you want to explore - on one of ours we had the fabulous Oscar as our driver and he took us on a drive around Ocho Rios, showing us sights we wouldn't have come across otherwise and sharing his love of the island with us. We spent time with Shadow the dog everyday giving cuddles and being licked to death and we love that Shadow lives on within the Inn. Finally a special thanks to Sherlene who was wonderful in helping us make our evening simply perfect when we got engaged on our third night. She went above and beyond and organised everything without fuss and to perfection. This was customer service at its highest and we can't thank her enough. We will return - no doubt about it!

Dear 878gemman, Thanks for taking the time to write us such a beautiful review. We definitely agree that the view from your Premier Verandah suit, while sitting over the water, being serenaded by waves crashing onto the rocks beneath you, is a spectacular experience. We're happy to know that our quaint, secluded, haven of luxury was exactly what you needed to connect with your love. These compliments to the Food and Beverage team are quite gratifying, and we'll be sure to pass them on. We try to be as diverse as possible with our menu options, without compromising quality. Our team members will be thrilled to hear these comments on their service. It's lovely that you participated in our garden tour by the way, it's a good way to immerse yourself in our tropical paradise. How great is it that you enjoyed our various on- and off-property events! So many of our guests get wrapped up in all that Jamaica Inn offers, that they forget to explore the island, but it's great that you got out. It seems Shadow had a great time with you too! A big thank you to the mister for choosing Jamaica Inn as the location to make things official with you! We're absolutely honoured to be part of such a special moment in your lives. We're excited to welcome you back home for another wonderful getaway in our little piece of paradise! Take care till next time. Best regards, Rueyella Blake, Executive Assistant Manager.

I love the indoor/outdoor living of this hotel! It offers large patios and views of the beach. There is a lot of history and interesting stories regarding this place. It definitely has an old world feel. The property is tastefully decorated in a colonial, casual & elegant style, and feels like a second home with it’s library and traditional bar. The common areas are all outdoor in a typical tropical fashion. This small boutique resort offers as much or as little as you want to do. The owner is on site, and is very personable and makes you feel welcome. I definitely recommend this hotel if you want a laidback vacation with top notch amenities and service!

My daughter and I went for a four night stay and we left two days early. We would have gone home the next day but we couldn’t change our flight. For the life of me I can’t figure out why this property gets such good reviews. What’s portrayed on its Instagram account and the actuality are two different things. The entire place is in need of a top to bottom renovation. The grounds are unkempt—brown grass and dead plants. Each building’s roof was dirty. There are no air conditioned public spaces at this inn. Everything is open air, which can be quite uncomfortable. The website ought to state that. The rooms have individual AC units that only go so low, which means you can’t get it as cool as you want. There are no windows or glass doors to the balcony, only plantation shutters. This means you either have a dark room to keep the AC in or you open the shutters to get some light and get blasted with heat, humidity and flies. We checked out the spa but that too was not up to date and unappealing. The food was good. They have a nice beach. The best thing of all was the lovely staff. We do not recommend this property.

Dear Natalie, It was indeed a pleasure for us to welcome you and Caroline to the Jamaica Inn. We are truly saddened by the fact that you did not enjoy your stay as we had intended and indeed anticipated.   Having established a wonderful reputation over the past 65 years of delighting the vast majority of our guests, we don’t take these matters very lightly. Constructive feedback is always welcome and so thank you for taking the time to have a telephone conversation with me and for sharing your thoughts. We will definitely agree with you that our usually beautiful grounds have really taken a beating at this time of year. As we discussed together, climate change is definitely real and this summer has been one of the hottest and driest in our history. We do have a recycling irrigation system in place but sadly it hasn’t been able to keep up with the onslaught. During this drought, potable water has also become a very precious resource on the island and so we are limited in what we can do and hence looking forward to getting some rain very soon. As is the case with the roof, we all know that the areas which are exposed to the natural elements will definitely be of a darker shade than the areas that are not exposed but this shouldn’t be confused with dirt.   Also yes, our shutters are a signature design of our old-world architecture and timeless charm; however, again, in speaking with you, we do understand that you typically prefer to have glass windows whereby you can look through. Again sorry this is not to your liking. We are however happy to say that our Jamaica Inn cottages do offer that more contemporary kind of setting which you seem to prefer.   In regards to our award-winning Ocean Spa, pity you didn’t choose to explore further as it is a very unique design situated on a bluff above the Caribbean Sea where you are one with nature. No recorded sounds needed here. It offers a wide variety of restorative products and local blends along with a number international acclaimed lines such as Repechage and Voya Seaweed-based product lines and our therapist are simple fabulous.   Again, we do appreciate you sharing these comments and allowing us the opportunity to highlight these aspects of our family owned property to other potential guests. It also warms our hearts to know that you had enjoyed our lovely beach, fresh food and best of all, our trademark hospitality from our wonderful staff who keeps our guests coming back time and time again over the decades. Best wishes, Sherlene Hickling, Guest Relations Manager.
