My husband and I recently stayed at Chillin with a group of 30+ adults and we had an AMAZING stay. We came down from the states for a 60th Birthday Celebration and ashes distribution of their beloved mom. We took over the entire complex for 7 Days! Chillin is nestled towards the end of Old Fort Bay with manned staff at the gates. PROS: Each Villa has 4 airconditioned bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, spacious gathering areas, and amazing patios with ceiling fans. Satellite TV in each room and WiFi in the common areas. Clean and well-maintained grounds and pool. Easy 3-minute walk to a private beach with complimentary loungers. We stayed in Villa 5 and we had AMAZING staff! Tonianne and Natalie catered to our group without a thought, they made sure during meal times that each house guest did not miss a meal, the Rum Punch was flowing! CONS: Not really a con but like previous reviewers noted you have to bring EVERYTHING. The house staff will cook but you have to bring all your food, condiments, water, alcohol, etc... The house is fully stocked with plates, cups, glasses, pots, etc...We went to the local grocery stores a few times throughout our stay and bought all items with the assistance of our house staff. We were working with the other Villas to buy in bulk for all our guests, we chose our menu ahead of time so we knew what to purchase. Some of THE BEST JAMAICAN FOOD I have ever had. Nothing compares to fresh, local ingredients. Chillin is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of traditional resorts. I highly recommend this place for a girl's trip, family, and large group gathering.…
This is definitely a great place to chill. If you need a lot of activities or bells and whistles this probably isn’t the place for you although it’s near a lot of attractions that you could visit. I don’t think the pictures do it enough justice I found the grounds pretty and the villas (sort of a townhouse feel) to be really spacious and well decorated. The beach a few minutes walk from the property is private and gorgeous. Our housekeepers were friendly and good cooks. The only con is that you have to bring everything with you to cook and eat and buy everything I mean even the salt and pepper! If forget anything it means a grocery store run. We visited during the pandemic so it was extra quiet and peaceful, spent many hours at the pool or just chillin on the back patio.
Pros: Clean nice place. Clean pool. Kind workers. Cons: breakfast would be a bit late and though the beach was close you still had to walk about 5-8 mins to it. Also the property didn’t seem like a villa more like a homey place. Enjoyed the visit but not on my go to list.
Can't remember the name of the villa where we stayed but it's closer to the end of the property. The villa was okay except that a few lights in the room weren't working. No room service based on the package we selected but there are amenities such as a dining area, bar, games patio and kitchen if you needed to prepare a meal. Very quiet environment which made it very relaxing. That was the aim. An overall okay place to stay for an affordable and relaxing getaway.
Wonderful fresh fish inexpensive local color Cheerful, knowledgeable staff Fabulous smells Street music Lovely sunset We sat outside on covered porch at railing looking into the boat filled habor Do it!
We were lucky enough to say in a 2 bedroom apartment no 11 Chillin’ Old Fort Bay, Ohio Rios for 2 weeks over Christmas. The whole stay was perfect, totally relaxing and like stepping off the planet to our own little sanctuary. The location is great, just at the end of the motorway 1 hour 15 minutes from Kingston....a godsend after getting off a direct flight from London. We were within 5-15 minutes of the many activities that Ocho Rios has to offer including a choice of supermarkets & restaurants for food shopping. The beautiful private beach which you have access to as a guest at Chillin’ is literally 2 minutes easy walk away and we had to ourselves most of the time. Each of the villas comes with a daily housekeeper to do the cooking, cleaning and as a general font of all knowledge. Dorritt who looked our villa no 11 was a fantastic cook and not phased by all of our dietary requirements (vegetarian, not too spicy etc). She really went the extra mile to make our stay special cooking special birthday breakfasts etc, but not in an obtrusive way. All of the staff we met were friendly, professional and kept the facilities in great condition. Even down to sweeping the grass daily to make sure all the facilities were clean and well presented. Our villa was well equipped with basics in the kitchen on arrival, comfy beds, beach towels, games, WiFi etc. It was tastefully decorated, had air conditioning and in excellent condition. The apartment provided flexibility and freedom compared to a hotel. The ability to just wander in from the beach/pool and not have to get changed for dinner, sit on the balcony with drink in hand, listening to the sound of the sea was a perfect relaxing way of recharging your battery.…
The villas are nice and certainly in a nice quiet spot. Unfortunately my shower hardly worked, just a dribble really. Also the floor of the shower was dirty. The room was not cleaned to a normal hotel standard. There is a kitchen but I think they should at least have some very basic supplies such as coffee. There was nothing at all. They have lovely wooden louvred shutters but no mosquito screening behind it, I tried to keep them closed but the cleaners keep opening them up, hence mosquitos in the bathroom and bedroom. Coffee, cleaning and mosquito netting would raise the standard of these lovely villas considerably. Friends in one of the other villas said that theirs was clean.
We have been multiple repeat guests to Chillin' over the last many years. However, this trip was a shocker. I had warned the booking office that we would be arriving late. On arrival the guard did not seem to know which unit we were in and it took a fair bit to sort that out. Two bedroom, Unit 7 was reasonably furnished, however the beds are ultra tough. The real shocker was being told that check out time was 11am! We usually stay through lunch time and then head out. The only saving grace is that Chillin still has the best staff - Paulette was very warm and friendly, and cooked very well!
Located in the gated community of Old Fort Bay, Chillin offers the opportunity to stay in a full service villa within short driving distance of Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Secure and quiet, Chillin' is a true hideaway with a private pool and access to a private beach which it shares with neighboring villas of the Old Fort Bay community. Chillin's villas offer plenty of space with air conditioned bedrooms, large private balconies and a full kitchen. Each offers standard maid service as well as a cook. You can arrange to have the cook buy the food for an extra fee or you can venture into nearby Ocho Rios where you will find many options for buying groceries as well as a number of restaurants. Fit and finish in the rooms falls just short of what you would find in a top hotel but the villas are very comfortable. Beds were firm. Rooms were kept clean and the grounds outside are kept with a devotion to delivering the best. In fact it is this type of devotion to customer service that makes Chillin' a great place to stay during any family getaway to Jamaica.…
Chillin' at Old Fort Bay is a location I will recommend to anyone in need of a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Great for friends and family reunions The grounds are well kept, service is excellent and food cooked by on site staff is sumptuous. Definitely deserves a repeat visit.
