Polkerris was a fantastic place to stay in Montego Bay. I was leading group trip (10 people) and Jeremy and the Polkerris team were very easy to work with. They were helpful and responsive during the planning process. Our arrival and check-in went seamless and they assisted in setting us up for dinner at a nearby restaurant (Pelican Grill), getting transportation to the airport, and provided info on nearby parks. The accommodations themselves were wonderful. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable. They had even placed pitchers of water in the fridge which was a nice tough. The common spaces and pools were very nice and welcoming. Despite how nice the rooms and common spaces were, the views managed to top them. From the balcony you could see bougainvillea flowers in the foreground with mountains and the seas in the distance. Our group breakfast was also wonderful. We had 6-8 options to choose from (Jamaican staples and American classics). The entire group as happy with their choices. I could not recommend Polkerris more highly, for a group or for a couple/family retreat. Our only wish was that we could have had more than one night.

This venue is very comfortable, with a glorious pool and one of the most expansive views on the island. It is a true oasis - insofar as it is a sanctuary surrounded by the uninhabitable. Montego Bay is ghastly; if you know where you want to go, and make your way there under your own steam, Polkerris is a perfect place to stay – and to hide. The breakfasts are (mostly) the same every morning, which may be a good thing if you like the island cuisine. The owner, Clarissa, is friendly but distant - which is exactly what you want when making the best of the venue. The games room has a pool table, and the location is excellent for access to the Strip. There is parking if you hire a car. The house is quiet, and well maintained by the domestic staff. The one irritant – to be avoided at all costs – is the daylight robbery of Michael, the venue's semi-resident driver. Like everyone else on the island, he overcharges horribly, and he will do all he can to charge you a “tourist” rate. This is very annoying, and should not be tolerated by the owners. It may be acceptable locally for drivers on the island to seek always to steel from visitors, but Michael's prices are outrageous to begin with and plain wrong after negotiation. His philosophy that “it's ok to charge tourists 10 times what locals would pay” sends entirely the wrong message. It will (and should) put people off from visiting. Behaviour like this explains why so many stay at all-inclusive venues. Caveat emptor 24/7...

First off, I don't think this place deserves to be called a bed and breakfast. It is more than that. What piqued my curiosity was why a b n b had a 5 star rating and fantastic reviews. I booked to find out. And I found out why. The place is magnificent, just how you saw it online is how it is in real life. And walking distance from the Hip Strip. Our room was beautiful and stately and you know a bathroom rocks when it got five lights. The "C" trio of Clarissa, Crystal and Charlotte made our stay a very memorable and sweet one. They even worked around my schedule when I wanted breakfast a bit late as I was going jogging. And breakfast was delicious. We had steak, ackee and kidney, dumplings, fruits and orange juice. It was the only place I was sad to be leaving when I checked out. The driver Michael was available for all put trips and he is super punctual so you don't have to worry about island time. Because of covid19, I couldn't do a few things planned like visit the Rasta Village. So I have to make another Mobay trip. So Polkerris haven't seen the last of me yet.

My husband I debated staying at Polkerris or the S Hotel. We relied on reviews, and we are so happy we did! Upon initial booking, Jeremy sent us a detailed message about where we were staying and directions for getting there. His timely responses made us feel comfortable before we even arrived. The day of our departure flight to MBJ, weather in the southeastern states caused our Thursday flight to be canceled and rebooked for Friday morning. Jeremy was responsive throughout the process as I gave him update after update. He rebooked our airport pickup for the new flight. The driver, Leonard (who is AMAZING, by the way) was waiting for us with a sign bearing our names. Shirley was the first employee we met. She welcomed us, gave us a tour of the property, showed us how to work the television/cable, answered all of our questions, took our breakfast order for the next morning, and provided us with glasses of some of the best cold lemonade we’ve ever tasted! My husband loved the lemonade so much that he ordered it when we dined at The Pelican Grill for dinner that night. Each morning, we enjoyed tea/coffee, fresh fruit, juice, and a Jamaican or American breakfast. Since we were in Jamaica, we ordered Jamaican each day...yummy! The American looked tasty as well as other guests opted for that. The views were spectacular! Our room was facing the sea...so beautiful. In addition to being meticulously cleaned, our room was spacious and had 2 ways to enter/exit. Seats were available on the patio for us to watch the perfect landscaping or sea. We found the pool area to be relaxing as a waterfall with colorful fish below provided a steady, relaxing sound. Flowers, flowers, flowers - they created a botanical garden feel. We didn’t play any games, but we did walk in the game room to get a feel for the room. We planned to play billiards, but we didn’t make our way back. If you wish to read in an enclosed area with books, that’s available too! We walked back and forth to the Hip Strip several times each day of our stay. We walked during the day and at night and always felt safe. We mostly opted for the route via the sister property directly in front of Polkerris, but a few times (during the day only) we walked along the road that led to Coral Cliff. We walked to Pork Pit (go left once in the Hip Strip), Margaritaville, Doctor’s Cave, the Supermarket, and Escape to Exhale Spa (located inside the Deja), Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records Restaurant - make a right once on the Hip Strip. There is a Starbucks attached to the entrance of Doctor’s Cave Beach. The Pelican Grill is to the right or left depending on where you arrive on the Hip Strip (taking the road it’s to the left, taking the sister property, it’s to the right). We went on an excursion to Negril and the driver had no problem finding the property. Downtown was only a 5 minute or so drive away. Jeremy arranged for Michael to send a driver (Leonard came back 😊) to pick us up and drop us back off at the airport. All of the staff - and I do mean ALL - were phenomenal. Housekeeping and breakfast service was top notch! When we return to MoBay, we will definitely stay at Polkerris!
