Hotel's Favorite
HOTEL - So beautiful and clean the view as you walk from the lobby to the pool area Is breathtaking. Two pools , one with a swim up bar leading straight off to a beautiful Sandy beach. The rooms were gorgeous and very clean and spacious, cleaned every day if you wish. FUN - if you want a lively atmosphere the Montego Bay and Reggae are the better hotels , they party all day and night and a lot more busy . We saw some wild pool parties at the Montego Bay one day . The Palace is more chilled out and quiet day and night! FOOD - well this is our only complaint .. A la carte restaurants were not open every night which is very disappointing given that this is a Premium hotel and we payed a lot of money to stay there. The steak house was only open twice a week which I think is not good enough!! The buffet was ‘OK’ but we found that the buffets in the Reggae had a lot more choice so spent a lot of time eating there .. again disappointed given that hotel wasn’t Premium like the Palace. Think this need rectified and their A La carte restaurants had a better mini choice too . Not good at all! ENTERTAINMENT - NOT GREAT .. again the Reggae and Montego Bay hotels had big stages with the best entertainment , all we had was. Pool Bar and some nights we didn’t have any entertainment to the standards we’d expect for the Palace! ANIMATION TEAM - Amazing people so friendly and work really hard to make your holiday the best . Sparky was just superb that boy has so much energy and entertained everyone day and night! His dancing skills are amazing!! Slims, Lady T and Funsize too great girls and so friendly! Lastly .. LIFEGUARD ‘Audley’ .. what a lovely hardworking friendly young man he deserves a mention! Put in in the review that he is very a very happy guy , 1 in a million! he knows how to deal with guests very good. we will be back to the resort very soon just because of that guy he told us a lot of good things about the island and the riu resort. We need more people like him .

This was perfection, service, food, drinks, cleanliness, entertainment, staff… everything was amazing. My only comment would be the linens are cleaned with something very strong , donating to consider if you have sensitive skin. I would definitely return, it was literal paradise.

This place really exceeded my expectations. It is truly adults only with no kids allowed. There is no Level up type programs as everything is included in the initial price. There is no extra charge for room service and the room has a stocked refrigerator with 3 or 4 bottles of liquor to choose from. No extra charge for these either. Bed was very comfortable and the black out curtains really kept the room dark if you need it that way. Housekeeping came twice a day and our room was always clean. Commode is separate from the shower area and has a door. The shower has a frosted door and a wall that shields you from view. The jacuzzi is in the open but since it was me and my husband it was not an issue. They offer massages and I didn't get one but I think there is an additional charge for that. There was entertainment during the day around the pools and the staff really worked hard to make everyday a fun time. There was evening entertainment also and it was either outside or in one of the smaller bars. There are 2 sister hotels on either side of the Riu Palace and you can go the either of those also. The RIU Montego Bay next door had the large stage and Fridays there was usually a big party there. We went and it was a good time. Good music and alot of Reggae. There are 4 or 5 specialty restaurants and there are no reservations. You go and put your name on the list and sit until there is a table. This sounds bad but no one ever had to wait long. If you waited till around 7:00pm or so there was no line at all. I liked the food at all the restaurants and there was plenty of it. The buffet was also available if you didn't want to go to the specialty restaurants. The staff there is really what makes it so special. They work very hard to make sure you are having a good time. They do accept but don't expect tips and I think they appreciate the gesture a lot. Good work should be rewarded anywhere. The beach is very nice and there is no crack of dawn scramble to get chairs. There was always plenty no matter what time we got up. There is a plaza across the street and they have a free shuttle to take you there. We did tip the driver $1 for the ride. You can get souvenirs there and its cheaper then in the hotel gift shop. There is an Amstar representative in the lobby and they arrange tours for you. I must caution you though. We pre-booked our tours online prior to arriving just to find out they changed our days. I was not notified that this occurred and had I not checked I would have missed the whole thing. This happened twice and in the end we had to pay for a upgraded tour to get it on the day we needed it. My advice is if you book with Amstar check on arrival and regularly to be sure nothing has changed. This is separate from the hotel but I felt it was worth mentioning. All in all we had a wonderful trip. I would come back definitely.

From the second we walked into the hotel the staff are all friendly and amazing. Everything was easy to find within the hotel. The entertainment staff were absolutely amazing from start to finish. The bar tenders and waiters/waitresses were also friendly and amazing people. They would get to know us through the holiday and would know when to bring us drinks, We have defiantly made some nice friends and we will be keeping in touch. All the food was superb there was always something to pick from and you would never go hungry. Overall it was an amazing holiday and experience. I would deffo be going back in the future.

I was so excited to go with my friends. After getting there we knew we had to make the best of a bad situation. Here were my issues. First we we got there and registered, we needed six rooms. Hoping to get them close together Ok two of us were put on upper floor. With NO ELEVATORS TO GET US THERE. no one talked to us about the resort so we knew where nothing was. We were told that no reservations are needed for restaurants and that they open at 6:30. Ok go to the steak house to find out you have to get there an hour before to get a spot. It became a tip thing. You tip me and I’ll get you in tomorrow. Hotel is old and except for the toilet in a separate room. Tub is next to the bed along with sinks and shower. Very awkward. Now to the pool. There are three. When we asked where to get towels. We were told we needed to get towel card. One card gets you only two towels for the day. You have to return them at the end of the day to get your card back. ONE TOWEL A DAY. now I mentioned too close to the airport. Well yes you are. Every five to ten minutes a plane goes over so close you have to stop talking. When you are in the room. It sounds like it’s coming in the building. So many things. There is no soap in the sink. Bring your own soak shampoo and conditioner. The dispenser in the shower is a combination soap and shampoo. Please don’t go.

Firstly, I have stayed in quite a few RIU Palaces, both Caribbean and Africa. The other resorts can be described as RIU Palaces as they had quiet, peaceful and relaxing areas that you could escape to if you wanted to read a book, watch the world go by or people watch. Unfortunately, there was nowhere to escape at this hotel. I am a Bob Marley and reggae fan but not at the decibels where you couldn’t hold a conversation. If it wasn’t the loud music, it was drunken loud guests who disregarded anyone else being on holiday. The majority of Hotel staff in the many departments/sections were fantastic, pleasant and cheery. The Entertainment staff were great and really worked hard to get people involved - big shout out to Sparky who was full of energy and happiness. The rooms were comfortable, clean towels every day and sometimes twice a day. The only downside in the late evening was the brash and loud voices echoing throughout the corridors from the minority of unruly and drunken guests, mainly those from large countries, USA and Canada. They were disrespectful to other hotel guests and were more interested in how much alcohol they could consume, how quick they could get drunk which clearly disrupted other guests who were trying to relax. I am quite sure they didn’t do this on purpose, purely thoughtless or lack of consideration for others! The food was good in the main buffet restaurant but not exceptional, other palaces have been better for variety. Again, a big shout out to ‘Stone’ who looked after us, lovely girl, very attentive and always smiling. Disappointingly, we couldn’t get to eat in the Steak House on any night. You have to queue from 5.30pm until they open at 6.30pm and then they will take a booking from you? It would have been better organised if they gave you 1 voucher per week for each speciality restaurant or were able to book at breakfast. We preferred that extra hour in the sun rather than queue for an 1 hr so can’t comment on the Steak House. The Italian was ok. The beach was ok with plenty of sunbeds, majority of hotel guests preferred to be around the pool where the noise and entertainment was held, sunbeds were packed together. One of my party wore headphones on the beach whilst trying to read a book but gave up in the end due to the loud voices from those guests that felt they had to shout rather than speak at a normal level in their conversation. The Palace is situated in between the RIU Montego Bay and the RIU Reggae, so if you're looking for a quiet resort, this isn’t the place to go, sadly!! All three hotels hold Foam/Pool parties, once a week on different days, where the music is ramped up. In all the other Riu Palaces I have stayed, they have never had any foam parties so I guess they are catering for a certain clientele? On foam/Pool party day, you can move 50-100 metres but you still won’t get away from the loudness of guests and music. Once the foam party had started, many older guests left the beach. We were in a group booking, aged 50-60’s, we love life, like having a great time and generally having fun but this was very much over the top and no consideration for other guests. This is our 4th time to Jamaica and I believe it will be our last. I’m afraid the RIU Palace Montego Bay is more likened to an 18-30 destination where alcohol/partying/loudness is the main focus and certainly not a Palace, in my opinion !! Sadly, not our thing ...... however it may be yours, so enjoy ?

Where do I start. The RIU Palace is amazing. The hotels location is excellent. The rooms are clean and always presentable. Food as always is 5 star. The staff all work tirelessly to make sure your stay is trouble free. I must say a special mention to Paul at the top pool bar. Monique and Alex V, and all the bar staff are so friendly and helpful generally nice people. The jewel in RIU’s crown is Shortboss and his team, Spark, Spideman, Bravo, Black Panther and Dr Fun Fun. These guys are truly committed to making sure your stay is fun. This was our second visit and we will definitely be coming back. Well done to all the staff at RIU Palace.
