Deja Resort's prime location on the Hip Strip garners appreciation from guests, who enjoy easy access to beaches, shops, and the airport. The hotel's array of dining and entertainment offerings, along with a lively atmosphere, contribute to its appeal, although the music can be a point of contention. While the service is generally lauded for its professionalism and attentiveness, opinions on value and room quality vary, with some guests finding the rooms comfortable and others pointing out maintenance and cleanliness concerns.

My sister and I booked a last minute, long weekend in Montego Bay at the Deja Resort. We received a confirmation email stating someone would be at the airport to transport us to the resort, and we would know who they are because they'd have a sign with our names and the resort logo. That didn't happen. We had to literally verify the driver by calling the resort ourselves. Then, when we pulled up to the resort our first reaction was, "should we even check in?!" We've traveled enough to know the difference between high level and low level. Nevertheless, we decided to give it a go.

Clearly the place needs some updating. We asked for a new room because the first one was smelly and old; which we were accommodated. Although the resort has some negatives I won't harp on them because the positives outweighed the negatives.

The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. The food, we thought, was really good; I suggested to the head chef (Stephen) to add more spice/heat to the dishes. I'm the daughter of a Caribbean man so I'm use to heat in my food; not everyone is. All of the fish dishes were delicious and beautifully cooked. And the drinks were on point. None of the bartenders skimmed on the booze (which I really appreciated).

The beach being directly across the street was another plus; literally 20 steps and your feet touch sand. And yes, the beach is beautiful!

We were able to do a little shopping and met some really nice people -- locals and visitors. All in all we had a good time because we focused on the good and not the bad.

There is no quality control at this hotel. My company booked my colleague and I in identical rooms, we were put in rooms next door to each other. However her room had a fully stocked and operational fridge, while the fridge in my room was plugged out and empty. The room itself was ok, nothing spectacular there.

We arrived at 3:15 pm and our room was still not ready(check in time is 3:00 pm). However they get us to sign a paper of ear stay after 12:00 pm which is their check out time, that they will be able to charge us extra $50. It is 5:00 pm, I was sitting at the lobby with my two daughters still waiting for the room. While sitting here already found out that the wifi is not working as well.
I am giving few stars because of the food and the helpful staff. I have no complain about the wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet. If you are hungry in between, there are two snack bars and a free drinks (including alcohol) if you get the all inclusive package.

My 16yo and I arrived in Jamaica at the beginning of a long weekend of Covid lockdown. We were pretty bummed at first because the beach was literally closed, along with everything else outside of the resort. But we quickly learned to appreciate Deja as the best place to be staying in this kind of situation.

Pros: comfortable, spotless room; lots of hangout spaces around the resort; full of nice families; beautiful verandahs to hang out on; super nice and helpful staff; yummy food with a variety of desserts every lunch and dinner; good drinks; it really is all-inclusive—you can get Cokes, alcoholic drinks, etc.; Subrina the Activities Director is full of ideas for fun things to do; big pool towels; safe Covid measures; ability to get tested for Covid here before returning to the US; location, location, location.

Areas for improvement: mattresses could use an update; a few more hooks for hanging towels in the bathroom; fridges in rooms would be great

This is a small (93 room) 100 year-old Jamaican family owned resort all inclusive. The family acquired it 2016 and it’s under some renovation but the hospitality, food and ambiance is everything. The location on Mobay’s Hip Strip is walking distance to all the hot spots. We’d stay here again and again.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. Unfortunately, my family felt not only unwelcome at this “resort,” but also unsafe. It’s a bad sign when a couple is checking out when you’re checking-in, at 5:00 PM, due to them not being happy with the room or the whole facility. The lady at the front desk barely looked at us, barely spoke to us, and didn’t explain anything at all to us when we checked in. She gave us a room number, 231, that doesn’t even exist, and we looked around for it for awhile. We were told our wrist bands would get us into the beach, which it doesn’t. You have to wait for someone to write passes for you, while they try to sell excursions to you. Beach chairs and umbrellas are $8 each, and the people that rent them on the beach are very unfriendly, exactly like the staff at the Deja. Our unclean room had a sliding door on a balcony that led to a parking lot, and the sliding door had a busted lock. The room had exactly four pillows for our family of four, and one towel. While we didn’t expect a luxurious room, basics were not even there, and the customer service was the worst we’ve ever experienced. A lady selling ice cream on the 2nd floor would actually look down or look away when we approached. The hotel is very outdated, with a couple of nice views- one in the dining room, and one on a balcony facing the beach. There were exactly two male staff members who were friendly, while the rest barely spoke to us. Again, we don’t have to have luxury, but we couldn’t tolerate unsafe and unwelcome. Needless to say, we stayed one night and couldn’t get out fast enough. We quickly made our way to another hotel, which was absolutely wonderful.

Quite frankly if I had known renovations were going on during my stay I wouldn’t have booked this hotel as continuous construction noise throughout the day is not what you want to hear whilst trying to relax. In addition, it was a sensory nightmare for me due to my hearing impairment.

There are no lifts at the resort so if your room is located on the top floor like mine you’re sure to leave fitter than you arrived.

Upon arrival to the airport in the middle of the night there was no staff member at the Deja Resort kiosk to welcome me despite booking a shuttle in advance. Thankfully another hotel was willing to assist in providing transportation. Trying to book a shuttle for departure was just as frustrating as there seems to be no consistent booking policy used. I asked 3 different members of staff at the front desk how to book and was given 3 different answers. On the morning of my departure there was no driver available for the time I had booked but the staff member on shift was very helpful arranging a local taxi.

My check-in experience was pleasant as the staff at the front desk were welcoming on arrival.

At first glance my room appeared satisfactorily cleaned. However, when I entered the bathroom the cleanliness was questionable as the toilet appeared to have been used and not flushed; as there was soiled tissue in the toilet bowl and the white bath tub/ shower tray looked like it had not been properly cleaned in weeks as the sides were discoloured. Initially I thought this was general wear and tear as it was evident the fixtures and furniture in the room was dated hence the renovations going on in the hotel. However, to my surprise it was actually filth. I should of taken a before and after photograph as I cleaned the bath tub with my personal cleaning supplies. The difference made with a simple wipe of a cloth and some disinfectant confirmed the bath tub had not been satisfactory cleaned for some time.

On my second day from the early hours of the morning I had no water in my sink and bath/shower. In addition, the hotel phone lines went down and there was no WiFi connectivity for the majority of the morning

Nevertheless, despite these significant issues I would stay at Deja again because the customer service of staff was very good. Front Desk staff at reception were polite and tried to deal with issues I brought to their attention promptly. The spa staff do a great job with massages, the staff at the excursions desk were helpful as they tried to accommodate my needs. Furthermore, The staff serving in the restaurant such as Krystal and Ms Ruth made my solo dining experience very pleasant.

Although the choice of food was limited it was good and is a reflection of authentic Caribbean cuisine made with adjustments for the foreign palate. It’s evident overall the hotel staff do their best. Hopefully with the new renovations new management are implementing this will bring the facilities back up to the standard advertised in photographs used on the company website.

Stayed at hotel for 2 weeks. This hotel will give you a true experience of Jamaican culture as the staff and ambience shows this.
The food was excellent, authentic Jamaican but provided options if this was not your thing. Good selection of alcoholic drinks, Hotel was clean and tidy and also offered games and pool for relaxing, we took full advantage of the table tennis board. Staff were outstanding a special shout out to Satia and Lorraine on breakfast service who excelled in customer service and the lady who makes the omelettes in the morning. and the mature lady who would usually be on the coffee shop 1st floor, truly outstanding.
Chefs were great also. Everyone was friendly in the hotel and made you feel very welcome, almost like a family atmosphere. Location is excellent so you do not require a car, opposite the beach and right on the hip strip where you can find everything you need.

Our flight has mechanical problems so we missed our connection. We called the hotel in advance and they credited us the one night. When we got in the next day, we had to wait till regular check in time for a room. They gave me a credit on a room that I did not use then took the credit back at checkout. The hotel staff was unaccommodating and would not even acknowledge that a credit was given or explain why they recharged me for a room that I never used. This is a very dishonest way to do business.

We had the misfortune to stay at this hotel last week for 4 days. Where do I start? The food is inedible, small servings served by rude staff. The pool area is dirty with food and drinks being eaten/drank in the pool. Parties taking place at night by the pool and debris left there until at least 10am. The private beach is not private it is a beach with an entrance fee located across a very busy road. Vouchers for entry only are given by the hotel, you then have to pay for sunbeds and umbrellas. The beach gets very busy. On the second day the beach was closed for the next 3 days due to Covid restrictions.
