We have holidayed in the following resorts and so this is a comparison to those resorts, Secrets the Vine, Secrets Cap Cana, Excellence Oyster Bay, Excellence Punta Cana, Sandals Antigua and Sandals Barbados. So straight of the bat, Secrets Wild Orchid is the worse resort we have visited. Its dated, tired, unclean, and have very varying standards of service from the very good to very poor, nothing in-between. Room We had an ocean front room, Non-preferred. The room was spacious but the standard of cleanliness, housekeeping, and mini bar stocking was shockingly poor. There were many occasions that we had to call to get towels, shampoo etc and overall poor. Resort If you are Non-preferred the choices are limited to wild orchid. Particularly so the lunch options. The general condition of sunbeds and surrounding areas were poor. A few times I found glass, old tools etc in the sand and yes responsibility for glass is on the guests but there seems that no checking goes on. I found an old rusty tool in the sand that i cut my foot on. They seem ambivalent when i took said tool to staff and basically said nothing, shocking. Beach is narrow and if non preferred it was hard to find a quiet place. Food Wild Orchid has to be the worse resort for food. Its dreadful. For something that calls itself 5* I do not know how. The only places on Wild Orchid that had reasonable food was the Asian. However if you were lucky enough to get a Preferred card and go to Breathless the food is miles better. Service This is very hit and miss. There were the very good Tash, the lady who served at preferred and all the servers at Breathless. Then the very bad who basically need training. The guy who took our bags the servers at Blue Mountain, and breakfast, and then the guy at reception when we left just very very poor. Overall we will not be going back and that is a true sentiment of this place

Having not had a holiday for over 2.5 years this was our first trip since the pandemic started. We had visited secrets the vine Mexico twice , secrets cap cana , excellence oyster bay , excellence punta cana , sandals Barbados and sandals Antigua so we are familiar with how the secrets brand works and how it compares to other competitors and sadly secrets wild orchid has to be the worst resort we have stayed at. We had booked an ocean front room and upon arrival the room did not seem clean and slippers, bath robes and laundry bag were missing. Housekeeping services were very slow and on numerous occasions I had to phone repeatedly for extra towels and toiletries and they were not supplied until the next day. There was no evidence of consistent and continuous cleaning that we always saw at other resorts and with covid rates still increasing I was extremely shocked to see the lack of disinfecting and cleaning in communal areas such as lifts, lobby areas and all round the resort. Masks are supposed to be worn inside communal areas and a lot of guests would enter these areas without masks. I did not see any evidence of the hotel enforcing the mask wearing which was disappointing and should have been enforced. The check in process was extremely poor as we were not explained about the changes since covid. We were not told that the mini bar would not be stocked every day and that it was up to us to request what drinks we wanted. We were also not told about the qrc code which you scan and tells you the restaurants which are open and the menus and entertainment. We only found all this out at the end of the stay as we were addressing our feedback to the manager on the preferred side. The communication was very poor right from the start and when we received our luggage no one explained any of the changes or checked we had everything in our room and that everything was working. One of the most disappointing things about this resort is the lack of food options and the food is very bland. There is only one place for breakfast which is the world cafe and it is very dark, outdated and did not have enough options for couples like us who stayed 10 nights. We actually skipped breakfast a few times as it was not worth going to the world cafe. Lunch options are extremely poor as there is oceana and we found there were limited choices and the food was cold. And then there was the seaside grill which served only cold food or the world cafe which was buffet. There was a barefoot grill which served snacks but they were not very good and nothing compared to other resorts. When it came to evening dining there were more than 1 restaurant that would close so you were limited to a handful of restaurants. We ate at himitsu , el patio which were good and the French restaurant and blue mountain were ok. We were lucky enough to obtain a pass to be able to access breathless and we ended up eating here for lunch and dinner as the food and service was amazing. If you are a beach person which we both are then you will be very disappointed as the beach is narrow and even the beach on the preferred side is rather small. We found it difficult to escape the loud, crass and obnoxious Americans who would constantly yell and have to share every single thought with the world as there was no where to go as the beach areas are compact. If you like the lively loud party atmosphere then this resort is for you but if you want some time out and relaxation this is definitely not the resort to go to. We also noticed that the resort gets busy between Friday to Monday afternoon when all the Americans arrive for a long weekend and then it’s nice and quiet for a few days before they all turn up in their droves. On the plus side we did try make the most of the weather we had and managed to do a lot of snorkelling and use the paddle boards and kayaking when weather permitted. The gym on site is very small as there are 3 hotels and we ended up working out on the basketball in the fresh air which was nice. We would like to give special thanks and mention to Tash the concierge at secrets wild orchid as she did a fantastic job in looking after us and genuinely wanted to help us and make our stay better. Thank you to the manager who we spoke to on the preferred side as you listened to our feedback and acknowledged that there were areas that needed improving. Special thanks to the server at the preferred side who always looked after us with drinks whilst we were at the beach. Also thanks to Felicia at breathless who did an amazing job in taking care of us and the barman O’Neil who made us wonderful cocktails on the rooftop bar. Sadly we will not be returning to this resort as it’s not for us and secrets need to up their game as there are much better inclusive resorts to go to.

We booked in St James Secrion for an ocean room. On arrival, we were told we were in Wild Orchid Preferred section. We had reserved 2 junior ocean front. We were given 1 garden view ( hang over the railing and you might see the ocean.) And a water view and some ocean. After the 5th inquiry as to wht, someone finally said that St James Preffered was under reno. The bellman Matthew who is fabulous, said it was at Wild Orchids. We wanted quiet. It was loud every night. Then it continued until wee hours by loyd neighbors. Lobby area furniture was old, dirty and smelled like body odor. Rooms were OK. Jazuziez on the balconies didnt work. Shower doors were heavily stained. Couches were dirty. Decor was fair. Not 5 star/4 diamond. Missing hooks in the bathrooms. Beach was fine. Tiny pool for preferred section. Reserving chairs was forbidden but the rooms with butler service were able to reserve chairs. Most were empty all day. Couldn't get umbrellas. (We don't have any)! Beach service (drinks only) was good. SHOUT OUT TO FRANCINE AT WILD ORCHID PREFERRED) RESTAURANTS - Food was fair. Breakfast was OK. Lunch... yuk. You had cerviche at Sea Grille with poor service. Barefoot Snack bar was HORRIBLE. buffet sucked. Dinner was 3/10. Again servers were great. Too bad the food sucked. Oh by the way....champagne was sparkling grape juice. Shopping area was piss poor for a 5 star resort Amenities were fair but still not sure what they were. VERY DIAPPOINTED. WAY OVER PRICED. AMR vacation resorts are horrible! We were screwed by them in the Dominican Republic in 2017 and once again. By the way...... temperature chick's are in effective for monitor Ovid. If masks are required in the restaurant, remove signs stating recommended and replace with masks required

My husband and I just finished an amazing vacation at this resort. Kenroy, Tajea (TJ), and Matthew made this a memorable vacation for us. All the staff go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. The resort was absolutely beautiful. I felt like I was truly in paradise.
