We travelled in June for our wedding anniversary and a birthday. On arrival we were handed a cool face cloth and welcome drink and our cases were unloaded from us. On check-in we were handed a celebration champagne breakfast voucher which was a very nice touch from the hotel (photo of breakfast included)and our room door had banners on it. On arrival we only had 1 bath towel in our room but after contacting the reception this was very quickly amended, and we always had plenty after this. We also had pool towels and didn't have a problem finding beds around the pool, though most days we were around the adult only pool. This pool had a swim up bar had some friendly staff especially Felisha and Clifton. They did constantly run out of glasses but if you take your own they do not have a problem with filling them for you. Food in the main restaurant was very repetative and after 2 weeks I had honestly got fed up with it, we ate in the portofeno restaurant a few times and the food and service was very good. Twice we ate in the Chinese and on both occasions the service was very slow and took a very long time as seemed to be 1 member of staff serving drinks, taking orders and deli ering food. With this in mind the food was nice just a long time coming. Entertainment was OK but again repeated every week so if your here for 2 weeks it will be the same. We did have their very first pool foam party whilst there and this was a great afternoon and good fun. I would recommend that they had this every week as it was a talking point with the guests around the pool. The hotel has crazy golf, giant chess and draughts, all water sports as long as they don't include an engine are free so you can snorkel, kayak etc and see some jelly fish. I did get a bit of cabin fever by the end of the 2 weeks as we were told it wasn't safe to walk off from the hotel, so unless you paid for a taxi to travel anywhere you are really stuck within the hotel complex. Word of advise for any English travellers be prepared if you want to go on any of the excursions with the tour operators you are looking at paying over £100 per person for most of the trips. The hotel does have a operator as well but they all charge roughly the same. American dollars seems to be the norm in Jamaica as well. So overall the hotel was always kept clean, we must of been in one of the rooms In the towel that had been renovated as our room was clean and freshly painted. Some lovely views, and friendly staff. The only reason I didn't score higher than a 3 was because of the food and how we felt so away from it all. But a huge thank you to Felisha & Clifton on the bar and Kayon our room cleaner and Derek in the main lobby they are an asset to the hotel.

It’s ok for the cost. Wasn’t impressed with food at all. Not a resort that you spend just on it the entire stay because you will get bored. What made out stay there great is we did activity outside of resort.

Review collected in partnership with RCI
We booked Sunscape, without really reading reviews, for the kids! It looked so fun! A week before our trip i started to read reviews and immediately regretted booking. Upon arriving, we were immediately offered to upgrade, which we did! Let’s just say, if you get offered...DO IT!! Our room came with a butler! Carlisha and Edison were amazing! They made dinner reservations, brought us drinks to the pool and beach, and even sprayed our daughter with vinegar when she got a jellyfish sting. The food was good... not 5 star but definitely good enough to eat and feel satisfied. Kids had plenty of options and we were happy. The resort definitely needs sprucing but they are constantly cleaning, painting, and maintaining. Entertainment was good...maybe not exactly kid friendly but my kids were too distracted by the waterslides to notice. The beach is clean and water was awesome. All in all, we had a great time! If you have a chance, go to Margaritaville! It’s so fun!

We flew out to celebrate several family birthdays and wanted a place that was reasonably priced, kid friendly and close to town. This hotel met all of those requirements. Unfortunately, the hotel itself is in dire need of upgrades/renovations. The bathrooms had tons of mold. Curtains need to be changed. Paint was peeling on the walls. The furniture was falling apart (dresser drawers wouldn't close all the way), and just outdated. The rooms were subpar for the money paid. Though the rooms fell short, the service team was great. Our cleaning woman, Kayon and the porter, Kevon were great. The food in the main dining hall was also very appetizing. We are frequent visitors to the island and the food usually tends to fall short as many hotels fail to serve food native to the island. Sunscape definitely got this right serving Escoveitch fish, fried dumplings, saltfish, boiled yam and other tasty provisions along with curry shrimp, jerk chicken, rice and peas, etc. Hats off to the chefs. However, the high chairs that we needed for my son in the dining hall were so dirty from years of caked on food that have never been wiped off after use. A complete turnoff. The beach was very rocky, but there's not much the hotel can do about that. However, the beach chairs were absolutely disgusting. They need to be replaced. They were so dirty, we took 2 towels each to cover the chairs before sitting. Last, the fire alarm went off 7 nights out of our 9 day stay in the middle of the night at ridiculous hours like 4am, 6am and 8am. Each time we were told to disregard, but how could you when loud noises alerting you of a potential fire awake you from a sound sleep while on vacation. This was extremely annoying and should be attended to by their maintenance team. Vacation should be peaceful. Overall, the our stay was okay. However, I would not recommend this hotel to friends or family unless they addressed the aforementioned items. This hotel has potential and this is based on the stellar staff.
