Nestled near the beach, Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites garners praise for its prime location and vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere. However, some guests feel the resort doesn't provide sufficient value, citing overpriced offerings and underwhelming dining and room experiences. While cleanliness is generally applauded, areas like the beach could benefit from more upkeep. Room opinions are mixed, with some appreciating the size and view, but others noting maintenance woes. Service and amenities receive varied feedback, with commendations for staff friendliness but calls for more consistent service and updated facilities.

The Iberostar is one of the better choices in Montego Bay for value, family travelers. It offers many of the trappings of a full luxury experience, sacrificing some hallmarks of perfection to achieve a better price point. It aspires to a five star experience, and while it doesn't always live up to that standard, it hits all the most important fundamentals.

The suites offer larger rooms that comfortably accommodate a family of 4, including if you need a crib. Plenty of storage, large balconies, huge bathtub, and nice new TVs. Nice touches in the room include a built-in Google Chromecast on the TV, which is a livesaver if you need to distract little kids, a drying rack on the balcony, and some extra storage space in the minibar fridge. There's also an extra, heavy door that separates the sleeping area from the hallway. This is great for keeping out noises from rowdy guests (which you will definitely encounter if you travel during Spring Break or probably many USA school holidays). With both doors closed and a white noise machine, even light sleepers should be just fine. We had small children in both adjacent rooms and never had any noise complaints - the walls are also well-insulating. Also assisting with getting good sleep (and in particular good daytime naps for kiddos) was the outstanding blackout shades in the room. Three layers of drapes, all with cross overhang (so they more than meet in the middle) kept out every speck of daylight when closed. They were among the most effective and attractive floor-to-ceiling hotel window treatments I have ever used.

The low point on the in-room amenities is the bath products. They're acceptable and get the job done but not luxury by any means. Scents could be better and the detangling properties of the conditioner are lacking. Consider bringing your own hair conditioner. We also did have a bit of hot water problems but only during the times of peak demand (7-9 AM). Outside of those hours it was always fine. And water pressure in the showers and bath was always excellent, even better than at home.

The housekeeping was very good (note that we did leave a daily gratuity, this is suggested for optimal service). Generally, the room was completely clean and orderly. There were a couple out-of-the-way spaces that had not been dusted in a very long time, like the floor under the shelves where we threw our shoes, and the very top shelf which I don't think any of the housekeeping staff could reach without a step stool. In general, however, the in-room cleanliness met my standards and exceeded my expectations. We got daily towel animals on the bed which was a nice touch. Our housekeeper accommodated our requests for extra towels and an extra linens change after our son had a nighttime accident. She was flexible with our schedule.

Cleanliness in the public areas of the hotel was also good. Floors were routinely cleaned, and the intrusion of beach sand into the upkept areas was kept to an absolute minimum. Resort cups and utensils were collected on a constant basis throughout the day (though there was one beer can in a random hallway in the suites that did hang out inexplicably for a few days, this was an outlier). The pools were skimmed and treated and look just as nice as in the promotional photos, crystal clear. The restaurant areas were all impeccably clean and should exceed anyone's standards. I do wish the outdoor public areas had more trash cans. There's only a few, which led to both me having to walk over to them, and to less respectful guests simply leaving their trash behind for the staff to pick up.

As far as the public resort areas go, they were nice overall but we had a few complaints. The palapas on the beach and umbrella areas around the pool are awesome. Well-designed and comfortable and picturesque. Enough tables to hold your drinks and such. The lounge chairs are in good working order. However, there is a major problem with using them and it was easily our biggest complaint about this property overall. It's basically "the cruise ship problem". There simply are not enough chairs. And if you want shaded seating, you better be a super early bird. Not long after 7 AM the best spots start to be claimed, mostly just by resort towels with no one in sight. By 7:30 AM the shaded spots for the morning are basically gone. If you arrive much after 8 AM you're basically out of luck for getting a lounge chair on that beach day, they're all gone. You can try going next door to the Rose Hall Beach part of the resort, we had a bit more luck there, but it's a bit of a trek and there's no guarantee. So on your vacation you either have to get up super early, walk to the next hotel and pray, or just cast your towel onto the sand and slop on the sunscreen. For us this was incredibly frustrating, mostly because the chairs weren't claimed by people actually using them, but instead by towels, sandals, hats, or bottles of sunscreen. The number of people in the pool or beach area never remotely approached the total number of claimed chairs - people just put down a towel and went to breakfast or activities or whatever and denied others the opportunity to use them. This is mostly a knock on the rudeness of the other guests, but the hotel should follow the cruise lines' example and start setting time limits or other reservation policies so that a towel and pair of sandals doesn't occupy a chair for hours on end while hapless guests can't find a single place to sit down or escape the Caribbean Sun. This would have made our visit much better.

Continuing on with the public areas, one attraction we were really looking forward to was the lazy river. It is indeed as attractive and clean as the photos suggest, but unfortunately it is the laziest river you could have. As in, there is no motion or current whatsoever inside of it. I'm not sure if the pumps were broken or if it was designed this way where you just sort of paddle yourself along, but it's not what I was expecting. Our family got in, floated in place for a bit, tried a few different spots to see if we could find the currents, and then gave up. I watched as other families did the same. It's basically just a whimsically shaped, shallow swimming pool. I asked a staff member which direction it was supposed to flow and he pointed for me. But then there was a bit of wind and I went the other way. The kids were mildly disappointed at this.

The beach itself was good for playing in the sand, swimming or wading, volleyball, and at least one wedding while we were there. Someone was tasked with raking it every morning, but at least half of the days we were there they didn't actually finish the job; leaving behind raked up piles of detritus and debris. At least you wouldn't step on it but of course it made the beach less attractive. The water in the demarcated swimming area of the beach is not rock picked, so you do need to wear water shoes or something when you venture out there. It's cooler in the morning of course but by late afternoon it's quite warm and you can just jump right in. There's a pair of swings on the beach engineered for perfect couples' beach photos, particularly at sunset. But our little kids love swings so we ended up using them a lot too (just be careful, they're not really made for kids, ours fell off a couple of times but they were fine).

Beware in the ocean and pool areas that the lifeguards are not all that attentive. Virtually every time I saw them they were either on their phones, talking with other people, or handling some other task. Granted, the pools aren't all that deep and no one is doing laps, but there are a lot of people drinking at that swim-up bar (which was great). You'll want to keep an eye on your own kids, I wouldn't trust the lifeguards to have rapid response in an emergency.

It's a Caribbean resort, so expect construction. There is always construction. While we were there they were painting, doing concrete work, some lighting stuff, and something in the hallways poking about the ceilings with various chemicals. This is just a fact of life of running a well-maintained Caribbean resort and the alternative (a crappy, run-down, filthy resort) is much worse. Just accept this reality and ignore it. You wouldn't avoid it anywhere at any expense.

We only went to a couple of the 9 PM "main shows" for the adults, but we enjoyed them. The main theater has really impressive production values. The sound system is powerful and well-placed, the stage lighting features articulated, moving elements that are used to powerful effects. Seating is spacious and comfortable. The magic show was good. If you are an aficionado of such performances as I am, then you have probably seen most or all of these tricks before. However they are well-executed and the performers are fun and engaging (and good at dealing with hecklers, we had one unfortunately). They also ran some pre-show close up magic outside, which was a nice added bonus. Definitely at least give the nighttime performances a try.

The resort's night club, on the other hand, is really only for a particular audience. And that audience is people seeking immediate and irreversible hearing damage coupled with the complete impossibility of correctly ordering a drink, and those 20-something foreign tourists wanting unprotected sex with another 20-something foreign tourist whom you cannot hear speak and you'll never see again. I did not qualify for either of these and thus quickly retreated to an alternate, and far quieter, music lounge with a bar (whose bartender was AWOL for a while but eventually returned). Thankfully, the designers were blessed with the wisdom to bury this club in a basement area where it's thumping reverberations are isolated from the more tranquil areas of the property.

The other nighttime activity offered is the small casino. I enjoyed this. I spent an hour or two in there over the trip playing blackjack or slots. I made a few friends and left up $20, so this probably contributed to my contentment. The machines are fun and they bring you drinks. Cashing out was painless. Again, don't forget your check-in coupon.

One highlight of the resort for me was the spa. Both my wife and I enjoyed 80 minute massages there. While overpriced (at around US$225 before gratuity), they were not completely out of line for what you would find at competitive resorts in the area or on a cruise. The quality of the massages was excellent, however. Great pressure and good coverage from what was clearly a well-trained and highly skilled masseuse, in both our cases. I got a sports massage and my wife got deep tissue, and we both agreed that we felt keen and limber afterward and the provider put in excellent effort and was highly attentive to our requests. There were a couple small issues during my massage - the wrong type was noted by the front desk on my request form, leading to delays which were not fully accommodated back to me in the overall time, and there were some loud noises from outside the room that were distracting. Overall though, we were both quite pleased with the spa treatments and tipped our providers accordingly (in cash, which they prefer). Don't forget your spa coupon that you are provided at check-in.

Speaking of the check-in process, this was another mixed experience. We arrived with a couple of aggravated, worn-out kids from a full day of travel so it was already a bit stressful. The front desk did a good job, but be aware that there is an entire spiel they will need to give you about the resort and amenities and towel cards, etc. It takes a minute. That is probably fine if no 4 year old is punching you in the legs. However, after check-in they will send you immediately to the concierge desks, purportedly to arrange your table service meals and other reservation activities. And in fact they do perform this function, and you should do this as soon as you can to get the optimal dining times and activity slots. However, this is not the only role the concierge plays, they will also try to sell you on a "tour". They make various offers for this including pairs of free spa treatments, and while it's not quite a hard sell on this, there's definitely some pressure here. I'm certain they get graded on or rewarded by how many "tours" they can conduct. I didn't want to spend any of my vacation getting what seemed like a timeshare presentation and I'm reasonably assertive so I just ducked out when the signup form came out. If they're offering expensive spa treatments as compensation you know it will not be brief or without further sales pitch, so I advise you to do the same.

The food was hit and miss. If you have been to any Iberostar resort in the Caribbean then you know what you're going to get at the buffet. It's roughly internationalized dishes to accommodate a variety of palettes with a bias toward Ameircans. While there was a good amount of jerk chicken, Ital stew, and boiled bananas, there was always ample cheese pizza, mac * cheese, and breakfast cereals as well. You won't have any problem feeding picky eaters, little kids, vegetarians, or anyone else at the buffet. Maybe if you're vegan and gluten free and allergic to coconut you are out of luck, but then you are kind of out of luck in life. Breakfast was a good example of the general inconsistency at the buffet. The pancakes were dry and uneven and difficult to eat, but the made-to-order breakfast sandwiches were great. You just gotta know what to pick and what to pass. As far as truly authentic Jamaican dishes though, you should really just leave the resort. Find a shack on the side of the road or something. Do whatever Anthony Bourdain did. Drinks service at the buffet was mostly good but could be slow if you needed a blended drink or milk for the kids. At least once our drink order was lost entirely and we had to flag someone down after about 20 minutes. But most trips we just got sodas and juices and it was fine.

We had a 4 night stay and therefore 2 reservations possible at the table service restaurants. We didn't get much choice here, because the best dining times are set aside for high status guests and guests at the adults-only Grand hotel next door, which comes with a higher price tag and more access. Due to the limited availability of earlier dining times that could accommodate our little kids, we went with the steakhouse and the seafood restaurant.

The low point for the food over the entire trip was the steakhouse. My wife only ordered a shrimp cocktail. She ate one shrimp and said to me "that was bad", and proceeded to spend the next 12 hours puking her guts out. She was miserable and angry. I got the ribeye, which was labeled as 12 ounces on the menu but was 16 ounces minimum and probably more. I ordered it medium rare, and while more than half of the meat did reach this temperature, the remainder was solidly rare (like it was cooked on a very unevenly heated griddle). I didn't trust and therefore did not eat the rare bits. The sides with it were fine, unremarkable. I did enjoy the chimichurri sauce that was served with it, the other ones were fine but not for me. The kids got mac and cheese and minute steak and barely touched either one, probably because it was past their bedtime at this point (earliest reservation we could get as lowly no-status suites guests) and they were freaking out. They did try and enjoy the cheese bread, though I thought it was just OK. Service at the steakhouse was the worst we experienced anywhere in the resort, despite being more than half empty. We asked for the kids' meals to be delivered first, ASAP, but it took so long that they were bundles of rage by the time the food arrived. I have no idea how to took as long as it did to undercook my steak given that no table appeared to place an order into the kitchen within 5-10 minutes of us, but it did. At least it was well-seasoned. Drink refills were the slowest in the steakhouse restaurant and the waitstaff the least attentive.

The high point for food was the seafood restaurant. We got a relatively excellent dining time of 6:30 (later than our usual dinner but at least not approaching bedtime for the kids), a great beachfront table, and an overall outstanding meal. Waitstaff was outstanding here and got every detail right and even helped entertain the children. Having cats running around the place helped a lot too, the kids loved that and threw them some fish. My wife had the whole grilled fish, described by her as "perfectly done". I am not a seafood person so I ordered my only option, the short ribs, which were outstanding. Actually the short ribs there might have been better than the steakhouse ribeye. I ate every bite. Kids enjoyed, once again, their mac & cheese. They ordered fish sticks which looked good to me but I think the cats got most or all of those.

A high point on service was the laundry. Not only was turnaround time (same day) excellent, the quality of cleaning was great too. And as a bonus they noticed that I over-charged myself in the drop-off form, and corrected my error to lower the total price. Honest, thorough, and expedient! Great job on both casual and more formal attire.

A huge selling point for us was the resort's childcare options. Namely, the free Star Camp for our 4-year-old and the option of paid babysitting services for our 2-year-old. Our son had mixed reviews about Star Camp but is himself an unreliable narrator of his opinions. He was always having fun when we saw him. For us it was great, he got to hang out, use the splash pad and water slides, do some art, and make friends with kids from different countries, languages, and backgrounds. They took the kids to the pool to meals, and to a variety of planned activities.

But the gold star for childcare goes to Tannia. TANNIA FROM GUEST SERVICES WAS AMAZING! After the guest services office couldn't find a babysitter placement for us (with about 48 hours notice), Tannia stepped up to do it herself. She's a mom of a 4 year old and our 2 year old loved hanging out with her. They had fun at the pool, had snacks, ran around, and did all sorts of stuff for the afternoon while we went into the city. She sent us photos of the good times, and even had both kids bathed and ready for dinner by the time she got back. Tannia was the best person on staff at the resort and no problem was too big or too small for her. Even when we forgot to leave her a room key she just fixed it for us. Our daughter didn't want her to leave.

Another staff highlight was our cab driver, Jadit, who took us into town that day. She seems to be employed by or contracted through the property. They use fixed, upfront pricing with no surprises or fees. She gave us a full tour for the price of a cab ride, which she was able to do at least in part because so much of the city was closed down for the Ash Wednesday holiday. She went out of our way to show us local highlights and fare, and gave us the full-on tour guide treatment. Extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, and well-connected to anything you might need (she found us an exact brand of Cuban rum I was after). Jadit is great and we strongly recommend you ask for her.

And finally, as many other reviewers have noted - the Iberostar app. It sucks. It sucks so very, very much. It sucks for reservations. It sucks for maps. It sucks for navigation (both navigating the app's interface, and navigating the resort on foot). It sucks for the logged-in experience. It sucks for the guest experience. It sucks in English and it sucks in Spanish. It sucks when it insists you download everything, and it sucks when it deletes it all again 2 minutes later. It sucks when you try to reset your password, and it sucks when you try to check your account status. It's only the smallest of stretches to suggest that the app is *completely* useless. It's only *almost completely* useless. You still need to go to the front desk or concierge for everything. The map interface is an exercise in exasperation. I am still waiting for any of the 10+ password reset emails I requested, and it's been 7 days (yes, I checked spam). The app will have you throwing your phone in the ocean and you might as well just skip it. Only open it to give it a negative rating and feedback and then close it again, maybe one day they'll just rewrite the whole thing.

In conclusion, this is a resort with 5 star aspirations. It doesn't quite get there, but it is beautiful, the staff tries very hard, and all the must-haves are on point. Many of the extras are excellent, and while our family had some complaints, we got our money's worth here. I would consider a return visit if we still have younger kids. I would not come back as a couple (but would consider the adjoining Grand).

We stayed at the beautiful Iberostar Rose Hall Suites from Jan 18-25 and stayed in room 3305 this was our third visit and there have been some changes made since last january. We had an amazing view of the whole resort. Upon check-in our room wasn't ready so they sent us down to the buffet for lunch which was fine by us. We had our rooms by 4pm or so.
The rooms are very clean, (a bit dated though), lots of closet space and a large washroom with two sinks, stand up shower and a large tub. The lazy river has no flow to it but that's fine you just float at your leisure. The infinity pool is beautiful, however it was a bit cold. The beach is beautiful and has an easy entry into the water which is great with smaller children. There is plenty of loungers and Palapas around pool and at the beach so no need to play the towel game at 7am. There have been some wonderful additions to the resort since our visit last January. They have added a food truck at the beach which serves jamaican patties, hot dogs, fries, burgers, garden salad, fruit salad and some wraps. Another wonderful edition was the food tents set up every couple days or so on the beach with a different spread, it was enjoyable. And my favourite addition was the refillable water station throughout the premises. NO need for bottles of water, just fill up the reusable glass bottles from your room and away you go. We always bring our own refillable water bottles everywhere we go but it's nice to see the resort going eco friendly. Also note that you are not given straws with your drinks, so if you absolutely need one, they will get you a paper straw. We all loved the ice cream at the bar at the pool, our kids got their money worth this trip. Another new addition to the Iberostar experience is their Iberostar app which will keep you updated on all the events happening each day. The only disadvantage to that is that it is not always accurate and the updates are not made on the app which is a bit disappointing. The only ala cart restaurant we ate at was the Steakhouse (we visited twice this time) and it was delicious. Wayne was our waiter the first night and was superb. Be sure that if you want to book ala carte restaurants you do it early on in your trip as that was the only restaurant we could get into which we booked both days the minute we arrived. The buffet is very good, however it got a bit tiresome after 7 days. The breakfast buffet was my favourite part, and be sure to get your custom omelettes made by Trevor. The entertainment crew was very enthusiastic to get you to join in their poolside games and keep everyone entertained. Shout out to Pineapple, Carlo Santa, Kiki, Tiny, and Suzie. It was another amazing trip and we look forward to coming back. The service around the pool and beach is not quite as quick as it used to be, but still decent. If I could make a recommendation to hotel would be to add more garbage cans around resort.

I knew there were three parts to this resort, but didn't get a clear picture regarding the difference. Let me tell you, there is a huge difference! The three resorts are the Beach, Suites and Grand. We started out at the Beach and quickly realized it wasn't the resort for us. As a result, we paid an additional $60/night to move to the Suites (it was another $180/night for the Grand). It was the best money I've ever spent. The food was fantastic, the room was updated with an ocean front view, beautiful beach and pool area with plenty of chairs and cute little cabana umbrellas. They had quite a bit of entertainment during the day and in the evening. It was the perfect amount of entertainment - not too much and plenty to do. There is also free watersports - kayaking and snorkeling which was great! There is a buffet and several restaurants as well as a food truck on the beach. One day had a buffet on the beach. It was all really great food and the service was fantastic! They bring you drinks on the beach or have a swim up bar in the pool. Room service was 24 hours and the mini fridge is stocked with some drinks (not a lot though). I also love the fact they have eliminated all single use plastic. You get a glass bottle to refill at the many purified water stations. It was great knowing we weren't contributing to the trash on the beautiful island. There were some vendors on the beach which could be a little annoying. They mostly stayed on the Beach side of the resort, but if you wanted to walk along the beach (which wasn't very far) they were a bit annoying. There is a lot of weed smoking around. I only smelled it a couple of times a day while in the Suites resort (much more frequent on the Beach resort). They kept trying to sell us weed too, but when you say no, they tend to leave you alone. Overall, it was a great experience once we changed to the Suites resort. I don't feel like I needed to pay the additional money for the Grand resort. I was very happy on the Suites resort!

Most of the hotel is closed when I got there the room was very moldy smelling made me cough. The grounds could be better I believe this is because they have to close some of the rooms and operate only the suites. The food was so terrible I had to buy food most of the days I am wondering who was cooking the food the selection was poor, it was a fight to get into one of the two restaurants open per night, What ever you do please avoid the Italian restaurant the food was so bad. Kemar in the snack truck on the beach was so nice he really tries to make the guest feel welcome. I had a very bad experience checking in Iberostar is one of the few hotels I know that charge for a 5 year old. The staff in the dinning room need some more training not to hold utensils on their clothes.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your TripAdvisor review and we are extremely sorry to hear that we were unable to deliver the high levels of service and did not completely satisfy your culinary wishes during this most recent visit. Nevertheless, your feedback is taken seriously and will be discussed with the appropriate departments. The hotel is really close to Montego Bay airport, about a 20 minutes trip.
The property has 3 hotels, where the Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites is the premium option between the 2 that allow kids.
The hotel and recreation area are very beautiful. The Suites are big, even for a couple + 2 kids. We were assigned a room in the 4th floor but being that there are elevators and their service is fast it was a benefit rather than a problem being that the view from the room was great. It has a big bathroom including a shower + an hidro for 2. The Wifi service in all the hotel was great.
The recreation areas and the beach are really nice. There were too much people during the last week of january so we enjoyed nice locations in the beach even when arriving late in the morning and the pools were almost empty during the whole day.
The kids club is a nice place but far from the active area, I like to be close to my kids, also the entertaining pool with games for kids is inside the kids club so, being that my kids didn't want to stay in the club and we wanted to share most of the time with them, they couldn't use that pool at all.
The sea is very calm with almost no waves and the temperature is not too warm neither cold, it was ideal for us. If you like to smoke weed you will like the beach being that there are many guys in their kayaks selling but if you don't like it it could be annoying being that many many time you will smell the grass, I think that I got accustomed after the 2nd day.
There are many restaurants for the dinner + a buffet, we didn't like the restaurant menus so we ended going to the buffet most of the nights. Being that there were too much people in the hotel, the buffet became boring as they started repeating the food after the 3rd night but the quality was good.
The worst aspect, of the hotel is the animation, they didn't advertise the activities so it was hard to understand what we could do every day and, being the lack of people, many of the activities got cancelled. We were only 3 to play a soccer game at the beach (counting the animation team guy), in other hotels, when something like that happens, they send more people from the animation team to avoid having to cancel the activities and also to encourage the people to join. Either the foam party in the pool was cancelled without previous notice, possibly because of the lack of people.... Seems that the animation is not a priority for this resort.
The night shows were good, The budget seems to be limited (based on the set and dressing) but the performers make the difference.
All the personnel is very kind so it was nice to stay there. I'd definitively would go back.

Side note: we were during the 28 Jan 2019 7.7 magnitude earthquake and there were no actions from the personnel, we were worried about the Tsunami warning raised by Pacific Trunami Warning Center so we went to the front desk asking for information and they didn't know what to say neither what to do. They said that there was nothing to worry about but the alert was going on and they should have a guideline to share to the guests. Fortunately nothing happened and it's just story now. I see a important improvement area here

First off, I felt the need to write a review because I relied heavily on people's reviews when deciding to book at Iberostar Rose Hall Suites. Let me tell you, everything positive that you read is completely true. Second, every negative or dumb comment about the food not tasting right or the grout crumbling in the bathroom, is just that. Stupid and pointless. The staff here is unbelievable as they are what makes Iberostar get the exceptional ratings that they do. Kudos to everyone there who just always took the time to go above and beyond, never expecting anything in return. The Jamaican culture is something we all could learn from! Shoutout to David at the bar, Amanda at the restaurants, and Raymond at the Italian restaurant.
I was completely blown away by some of the food offered at this resorts. The buffet was even impressive. The rooms were well decorated and spacious. We had a Junior Suite or something like that, and it was great! We loved the outdoor patio and the only thing that was tough was the bed and pillows.
Be sure to take advantage of the option to chose your room. You will get to see what it looks like from the inside and the outside, meaning you will see what your patio/balcony view will be. Also, priority check in was available but I forgot to do it. Check in was easy and fast, so that is not necessary.
I want to share some travel tips when going to Iberostar that I thought would be helpful
1. Bring a Yeti or Hyrdo Flask with you. Any kind of water container will work. The hotel is totally environmentally friendly and as a result have eliminated any and all plasticware, bottles, and any items that create excess waste. They have purified water systems outside every couple rooms that I used the whole time i was there. The water actually tasted pretty good!
2. Bring smaller bills. Tips are totally not expected but always appreciated. These people work hard everyday and come to work with a smile on their face. For me, it was the least I could do!
3. View your room ahead of time. We chose a room that was on the first floor and near the pool which worked out great in case we needed to use our bathroom, grab something or just cool off for a bit with an afternoon nap.
4. Airport taxis: I wouldn't worry about scheduling a taxi ahead of time, unless you have a big party. We were able to get a taxi right away after getting our luggage. It was $40 from the airport to the hotel Plus a $10 tip. Probably could have paid less with a shuttle.

My wife and 4 kids, all teenagers, spent a week over Christmas at the Iberostar Rose hall Suites and enjoyed our stay immensely. The property is lovely and clean and the staff very eager to help make your stay enjoyable. The hotel and the stay have done a very good job ensuring things are cleaned, disinfected and protocols in place minimize possible exposure to Covid. We were able to easily get the restaurant reservations we wanted. There were some dishes that were very good and some that were average. I recommend asking other guests who have dined for their recommendations. We all thought that the breakfast and lunch buffets were top notch. I used the gym every day and it is the best gym at any resort I have been to. I felt like I was at my own fitness center at home.
Due to the pandemic, the resort was far below normal capacity for Christmas time, so it was easy to get lounges on the beach and right near the pool. I'm sure the energy was lower and programs offered fewer due to the lower capacity, but we still found the vibe lively but with options for low-key relaxation. Special shout out to bartender Odale at the pool bar and Shanique serving drinks on the beach and around the pool; you guys made our stay so fun!
Sometimes the covid protocols can be confusing at the restaurants, gym, or shops, so before entering, just ask whoever greets you what they are and they'll be happy to guide you through it.
At the pool, the music can sometimes get uncomfortably loud, so, when it did, I headed down to the beach. The lazy river was enjoyable, but the water level was far too low which seemed to hinder the flow. It was the lazy pond in spots. Apart from those minor things, our stay was fantastic.
So, don't let the pandemic stop you from taking a trip, now is a great time to visit Jamaica and the Iberostar Rose Hall.

We literally planned this trip last minute, booked with a travel agent who reserved room at Rose Hall Beach and when we arrived at airport were shocked to find that it was closed and we were moved to Rose Hall Suites. No ice cream parlor at Suites - this may not be a big deal to some but us, it is. Landscaping and outdoor property was beautiful. Interior definitely NOT 5 star. Older rooms, discolored paint, moldy shower with open grout holes. Lost water for almost 6 hours one night and everytime we would call to complain - can't use toilets, can't wash hands, etc the standard answer was that "it should be on momentarily" 6 hours is a LONG time w/o water, especially when paying for a 5 star property. Wait staff were exceptionally friendly, above and beyond accommodating. Food was okay, nothing spectacular. Italian restaurant was by far the best. Poolside bar staff AWESOME. We were impressed with the constant sanitizing of hands before entering restaurants, gift shop, etc. Everywhere you turned there was hand sanitizer available. Maids however, did not always wear masks when servicing rooms daily which is concerning. Overall, our vacation was relaxing and good but we don't feel like we got what we though we were getting.

Just returned from Iberostar in Jamaica on May 12, 2021 . This is probably my 15th all inclusive so here goes.
My profile: 47 year old male from Atlanta Georgia in the entertainment industry. So not too you g and definitely not too and I am very active.

With all that said: This is a solid hotel choice for the price.
I must say it was probably the best customer service I’ve ever experienced.
Everyone was kind and friendly...helpful and I could feel the smiles through the masks.

Coffee shop is great and jerk chicken food truck on the beach is good.

They do a really good job trying To keep guest entertained at the pool and the pool is pretty cool

Resort is super Duper clean and there was never an issue with Roo service or getting anybody to help if there was an issue.

The food: Food isn’t bad , but it’s not great either. I wish the had more Jamaican cuisine and a lot of what we received was cold. But there was never an issue sending anything back or getting a fresh hot food. Juices are amazing And there were plenty of fruits and vegetables to go around .
Once again this is not an extremely expensive resort so you kind of get what you pay for.

The drinks: The drinks are pretty bottom shelf except for the Appleton rum. If you want gray goose or Hennessey or something along those lines even Don Julio..You can buy at the main lobby bar for eight dollars or you can pay to be upgraded. The bartenders at the pool do a great job of making bad liquor taste amazing so if you were a fruity drink person..You’ll love it but if you were there expecting good liquor then be prepared to pay.

The rooms: The rooms were super clean and the shower always stayed warm and they do provide you with shower gel and lotion which is pretty cool. Do you have climate control for the air conditioner at your fingertips and it’s very easy to operate and enough power outlet in the room as well with An iron.

Enclosing this was actually a pretty decent hotel/resort but I would say if you are used to staying at places like breathless or secrets then this will disappoint you. I would probably give this hotel a three star rating but a 10 star rating for customer service because everyone is amazing and sometimes that can make or break your trip. I had a really nice experience and at the price point it’s a very fair stay.

In conclusion Jamaica still has a curfew in the resorts are limited in the amount of gas they can half so I would suggest delaying your trip if you plan on

Went to the resort as per a business trip so everything was booked and planned before walking in the door. Especially in a time where Coronavirus worries were all over the place, there were no worries while at this resort. Housekeeping stopped by the room 2-3 times per day to keep everything clean and the entire facility was clean. All restaurants had great food, pools were clean and well kept. While we really enjoyed our stay, there were a few items that I do believe this resort could have improved upon. First, since it is an all-inclusive facility, if you were inbetween meal, there were limited options to get a snack or small bite to eat. Also, while there were activities constantly going on during the day, it seemed like the resort shut down after the sun went down. Also, the pools shut down at 6PM, which I would have liked to see open until later as well. There was one small hot tub that only fit a few people, which at a large resort like this, was not nearly enough. Finally, and I don't know if this is preventable, but there were many locals, right at the shoreline of the beach, trying to sell everyone souvenirs and who knows what else. We spent very little time in the ocean because of these locals bothering everyone. With all of this being said, the vacation was great and I would not let it deter you from coming to this location. Another high point was that the staff was extremely and genuinely friendly. All interactions were great and they seemed to go above and beyond for any question or request.
