I must say, it is a nice, safe and quite hotel. Some rooms are definitely nicer than others.

Ok...if you ask them to call you a taxi, they will, but who knows when that taxi will show up. So, be careful! If you are on a time crunch to go to the airport, get your own taxi! They take no responsibility.

Please please when you eat at the restaurant or drink at the bar, give your tips to your servers and bartenders in CASH!!!!! If you add the tips on the credit card, they will never see that money. Those people work really hard on a minimum wage, they do deserve the tips!!!!

Otherwise, great hotel, would definitely stay there again!!!

Enjoy!

It is a pleasant and peaceful oasis in a unique and beautiful city , Cap Hatien is not for the average resort " stay on the beach crowd " but interesting yet heartbreaking at the same time as is the whole of Haiti. The hotel is high on the hill witch was okay for us as we drove hour own car in from the Dominican Republic. If you go you must rely on a taxi or hire a driver with a car. The staff is efficient and friendly and the rooms are clean. I went for a walk up the higher part of the mountain and marveled at the stunning view of the city the harbor and the Atlantic Ocean. I encountered just a few people on my walk and they wished me a friendly "Bon Jour " Hope to go back some day and learn more of this mysterious yet beautiful country.

Our solar-powered, eco-rock band Solar Punch was delighted to stay at Habitation Jouissant (HabJo) during our time in Cap Haitien to participate in the 3rd Festival de la Mer. From the moment we arrived we fell in love with HabJo and its dream-like ambiance. We felt like special guests and were encouraged to use the pool area to setup our solar-charging gear to charge our batteries for our shows. One thing that I kept saying was that my girlfriend is going to kill me (she loves boutique hotels); so I've now promised to bring her along on the next trip!

This particular property is located on a hilltop providing beautiful ocean vistas, after an adventurous ride up said hill. The staff are courteous, helpful and reasonably attentive. The rooms are ample but really need some attention to detail in fixing the little things that make you believe you are in a 4 star location. You are not. I believe that at one time it was but as mentioned before, things have been let go. There is a serious excavation presently (Feb2017) going on outside which makes access to the hotel somewhat of an inconvenience. Rumours are that this is a Marriott Hotel undertaking which will expand the size of this venue significantly. The price of the stay could be lowered to reflect this however has not been. The food is tasty but in small portion. Night noise outside rooms came from two sources. Staff watching a big screen TV in the pool area below our balcony and a night club situated at the bottom of the hill below the hotel which was extremely loud into the wee hours of the night. I would suggest an alternative lodging until upgrades are made.

Sure the place has great views over Cap Haitien, sure it has nice rooms, but the best thing for me was the service. Reception in particular (thank you Florence) went out of their way to make me feel at home and help me with information about Cap Haitien. The hotel is up a steep road on behind the Caribe Tours bus terminal at the western end of town. For me it was about a ten minute walk up the hill, but I suspect that for many people this would mean a car or taxi ride to get from the hotel to other places in town. Taxis are cheap.

My boyfriend and I stayed 2 nights at Habitation Jouissant, or HabJo, as GM Florence Verne calls it. The place is safe, clean and offers amenities one would usually find in a very good hotel (AC, WIFI, balcony, hot and cold water, room service, parking, TV, etc.). Should you choose HabJo when in Cap-Haïtien, you'll notice that the staff makes the difference. Rhum cocktail, cooling face cloth and a beautiful yet simple decor welcome you. During our stay, we saw Florence taking time to chat with new guests and even play board games with children. The breakfast, lunch and dinner menus are quite satisfying and tasty. We miss sipping rosé on the balcony. Though there was still little fine tuning work on the building, we were never disturbed. We definitely recommend this place for its charm, its terrace, its comfort, its staff and the view on the ocean. Merci, Madame Verne !

We stay in Cap regularly and thought we'd head to the hotel for a day of relaxing. Breakfast prices weren't too bad at all ($6 omelette, $5 pancakes) and we ate lunch too, super reasonable ($7 burger and fries). Dinner time came around and we thought we'd get some drinks and snacks. Bartender offered to make us an amaretto sour, 'his favorite', and we decided to have a couple. We asked about snacks and he offered some fried goat, fries and plantains-yum! Plate came out with about 10 bite size goat pieces, some fries and plantain chips. Figured we'd spend $12-15 as is typical for a goat meal in Cap (it's my fav so I'm well versed in prices). I should have known to ask the price since the items were not on the menu. Always ask the price. I should know this from working in Haiti for the last 7 years.
Goat snack dish was $18.
Drinks were $12/each.
Our 4 drinks and one goat snack dish were more than breakfast AND lunch, combined.
The hotel is nice and for those of us working in Cap, a nice escape from the city. But please, always remember to ask for the prices first.

Loved the drinks upon arrive to the hotel. Hot showers and good water pressure in showers. A/C cooled the room and breakfast in morning was wonderful. The construction killed the rest of our stay that was moved to another hotel. Staff was very nice and provided excellent service.

First off: come to Cap! What a beautiful city with so much to offer. Walk around its colourful streets and soak in the atmosphere. It is very laid back and full of historical architecture and friendly people. Second: stay at Habitation Jouissant. A true boutique hotel with splendid views over the ocean on one side and the city on the other. In the morning you hear the church bells from the cathedral and the crickets and you can see fishermen with their lenteen sails out in the Atlantic. The view over the bay is toward the site of Navidad, Christopher Columbus' first settlement. A short trip which you can organise from the hotel takes you to Sans Souci and the Citadelle in Milot. I have been to Machu Picchu and this is just as impressive! (hint: it helps if you know how to ride a horse if you take the mules, otherwise encourage them to go slow!). The people at Habitation Jouissant are extremely accommodating and you feel like your every need is being served. I recommend the omelette Jouissant for breakfast, but only if you like spicy food. Come to Haiti, spend your money, and enjoy this fantastic oasis. Thank you to the whole team at HabJo!

Hi Rafaelama- As I was on a tour package deal, we had breakfast and dinner at HabJo, breakfast was included but for dinner we had a cap price. I heard Cormier Plage is a great place for swimming which is about 30 minutes away. I really didn't go swimming as I spent the day at Sans Souci Place and La Citadelle Ferriere. Hope you have a great time!

Not sure on the front desk, but one staff member I have found very helpful is Gabriel. He lives quite close to the hotel, has ideas about places to see if you want to do more! +509.3755.0090
