We stayed at this hotel for a Wedding Honeymoon and loved everything about it.

This hotel is an oasis and the location is great with a spectacular view of the mountains and part of the city.
The hotel has beautiful décor and it has a homey vibe where you can relax and unwind with superb delicious tasty meals from the restaurant or the lobby bar. The pool was great to unwind.

When I called to make arrangements for the honeymoon; I spoke with the Front Office Manager - Candice Paultre.
I have to give Candice a special acknowledgement because she was phenomenal in every way. No request was too big or too small. she followed my request precisely with no hesitation and always with a positive and professional attitude.
She ensured that everything was set-up for my brother's honeymoon.

Candice stayed in touch with me to ensure that everything was to our liking and personally greeted them and gave a tour of the property when we arrived. Candice set the tone for our stay by going above and beyond... and truly made our stay an exceptional one. Candice is an exemplary Manager and should be applauded for a job well done! Thank-you for making this special event a memorable one.

Price is very reasonable. The quality & service in every aspect was consistent.
All staffs are attentive, professional, accommodating, and helpful in everyway.

So, if you are traveling and looking for world class service, Top notch accommodations, Delicious dinning and food options, Spectacular view and a Gem of a Manager that will ensure that your needs are met; this is the place to go.

I highly recommend it to all travelers and we will definitely go back.

Great hotel with nice facilities and friendly staff. Excellent WiFi and shower pressure. Big room with a nice view. The hotel also put me in touch with a driver for the two days (for an additional charge) who was a godsent.

Restaurant food and service did not match the quality of the hotel.

What happened to this place? This was my favorite place for breakfast before pandemic! Indifferent service. Came for breakfast after over two years and can not believe what I found! No honey for tea! Pumpkin soup is marked without meat and it is full of meat! When pointed out no apology! Sausage and bacon sitting in over half inch deep fat! No fresh fruit in a country full of fresh tropical fruit. Omelette cooked too dry with used oil smell! Someone PLEASE pay attention. This can not be to the standard of Marriott!

We had a limited stay at hotel. Checked in at 9pm and checked out by 9am. The room and grounds were as pictured on Marriot's website. The facility and room were clean.

We had dinner in the restaurant down stairs, the food (Griot) and cocktails were excellent.

The first floor was very trendy and lively, but once you reach leave the first floor the hotel is very quiet.

We would visit again.

Amazing hotel.

Elegant and minimalistic. Although an American hotel chain, it doesn't lose its idiosyncrasies. You feel you're in Haiti! Service was OK, but the smiles surround you and make you feel truly welcomed.

A must if you are visiting Haiti and you want to stay in the best hotel the island has to offer.

Stunning!
I stayed at the Marriott last night, it is the FIRST hotel where everyone smiles at you, welcomes you and asks if they can help?
This is not the Haiti one encounters everyday, this is the Haiti of dreams!!! Bravo to the team who has achieved this, your staff are so obviously happy!!! (Oh, and bumping into Sean Penn in the lobby is THRILLING!).

I was told by a staff member that the Director went to the poorer sections of the city to find his staff and that they took chances with people in whom they saw potential. Hats off to you - whoever you are!
This is my new favourite place!

Despite Mariott's impeccable decor and prime location in the heart of Port-au-Prince, my visit was a disappointment to say the least.

(1) Cultural Sensitivity & Target Market:
While the Marriot is based in Haiti's capital city, the hotel's menu was not translated in Haitian-Creole NOR French...Could this be an oversight? Perhaps, but could you imagine opening a business in China and not translating your marketing materials in Cantonese or Mandarin? If you're smart, your response should be a resounding NO. Regardless of who your target market is you are going to serve a large population of Chinese people. After all, you are in China!!! Marriott, have some respect and translate your menu in Haitian-Creole & French.

(2) The Food
Your target audience may not be familiar with Haitian food but after a few days, their palates become more refined. With that said, it would be a good idea to rework your menu. The food was lack luster to say the least. With prices like that, the quality of the food will need to improve.

(3) Customer Service
Management does a valiant job at keeping service standards high but there was this unsettling feeling that staff members were operating out of fear. Train your staff well and give them free reign. They may surprise you!

Stayed here for several weeks for a business trip. The Marriott is one of the few hotels in Port-au-Prince (a city with high crime and political instabiity levels) with sufficient security for the international market. As a result, it has a semi-captive market and can charge a premium for mediocre services to the government/development/business travelers visiting Haiti.

PROS: Definitely secure (though I saw hotel security escort someone out of the gym who must not have been a guest/gym member, so how did he get in?). Hotel public areas (lobby/restaurant/pool area) are attractive. Comfortable beds. Fast and reliable wifi (free for Marriott members). A small refrigerator to keep beverages and other items cold. Decent gym with a variety of machines and weights. The few times I needed to ask the Front Desk for something, they were usually responsive. For example, there are no coffee makers in the rooms, but the hotel did loan me a hot water dispenser so I could make instant coffee.

CONS: We might have gotten truly hot water one day throughout my entire stay. Most of the time, it was lukewarm at best. For a few days, there was no hot water at all; the hotel apologized with a letter saying some work was going on. Replacing towels seemed to be hit-or-miss proposition, with some days getting a full complement of new towels, with other days lucky to get a bath towel. Restaurant is expensive even by U.S. Standards, and service could be very slow. TV channels are plentiful, though service was occasionally interrupted. The broadcasts are not in HD, which is probably all for the better since the TV set in my room had about six circular spots that were brighter than the rest of the screen. Others also complained about this, so it seems the hotel bought a batch of defective TV sets from LG.

In summary, if you are an international traveler -- especially one on business -- your employer will probably insist you stay here (or at a couple of other hotels rated for good security). You will be safe but, otherwise, your stay won't be anything to write home about.

Personal security is an issue in Haiti. This hotel is fine with great security. We generally have armed security (not locals) when in Haiti. I assume you have arranged appropriate transport from airport etc? Don't take a cab from the airport.
Answer from LisandroVoyager

There's no problem in Port au Prince so staying at any hotel should be free of problems. Unless you have Haitian friends to show you around, or sign up for an inclusive tour, I don't recommend Haiti. If you are young, extremely adventurous and willing to endure difficulties and high prices, then you might enjoy it. It's not a place for mainstream tourism at all.
