“It’s a wonderful Experience”
Every year we have two retreats with the students, since 2017.
We have already visited many places in the country but this year all the students affirmed that this year was the best year of retreat because of the place, they like this place very much. Good food, peaceful place, good services and friendly people.
And, next year for our Spring retreat we are sure we will be returning for another great experience.
I would personally recommend this place to you if you are planning to come to Haiti for any kind of occasion ....

This is my second trip to Haiti, and staying here was an amazing experience. the owners and all the employees are so friendly! Beautiful and safe place to stay. The generosity and service is excellent. the people who run the place are the most friendly people I have met in a long time. Also, GREAT food which is cooked every morning and night. Thank you so much.

The Eucalyptus House is in many ways a sanctuary in the heart of Haiti. It affords luxuries available at a bed and breakfast along with a family that has truly dedicated themselves to improving Haiti. If you are looking to broaden your perspective of life go to Haiti. If you want to do this safely and get a grounds up perspective from influential, English speaking locals who have all studied in the United State, stay at the Eucalyptus Guest House.

The Jean-Louis family is simply incredible. The food is great, the landscape is beautiful, and they will do anything to make sure their visitors enjoy their experience. I am currently in my third stay at Eucalyptus and can't imagine staying anywhere else in Port-au-Prince. Highly recommended!

I am a missionary who travels to Haiti eight or nine times a year. I have known Ernso Jean-Louis for many years as a pastor as well as an entrepreneur/businessman with a heart to train promising young people in business. I stayed in his house as a friend and always found it to be a most beautiful oasis in the midst of the noise, traffic, and general difficulties of negotiating Port-au-Prince. So I was delighted when I found out he had decided after most of his children were grown and living elsewhere to turn his house into a Guest House. Since that time I have taken numerous teams of people to stay there and have recommended it to others.

When you stay at Eucalyptus, you are welcomed into the family of Ernso, wife Gina, and daughter Christina. There is joyful and engaging conversation, and their help (cook, guard, etc) are also very friendly. There are multiple bedrooms and bathrooms both in the main house and in a separate two-story pool house. There is good security, big yard with lots of shade-creating trees, swimming pool, tennis court. Bedrooms have A/C.

If there are only a couple people, you will eat meals at the kitchen table; if there’s a larger group, they will set up tables outside on the large gated patio. The breakfast and supper provided are more than adequate and always delicious, along with some extras like afternoon eucalyptus or ginger tea.

What is most amazing here is the price! For only a fraction of what much poorer quality hotels charge in Port-au-Prince, you get your room plus two meals.

I cannot more highly recommend this hotel for those travelling to Port-au-Prince. Whether you are staying only one night or for a week, you will be very happy you chose this place, and you will leave having made new friends of Ernso and his family. It is also within a close distance to the airport.

I'm headed back to the Eucalyptus in March with 9 others for a mission trip to Haiti Outreach Ministries. On three previous trips I've stayed at the Eucalyptus and have always enjoyed the meals, the service and the hospitality of Ernso and the staff. This isn't a five-star hotel, but after working all day in a clinic or working under the Haiti sun, the Eucalyptus is a refreshing retreat. The air conditioning may be intermittent and the shower can be slow at times, but the beds are comfortable and insects at a minimum. The pool at day's end invites the hot and weary.

I have never stayed at a guest house in Haiti before. This was my first time so I have nothing to compare this place with. If you have to choose a place to stay in Port-au-Prince...Eucalyptus will not disappoint! I was with a group on a mission trip and we had to spend our first night at a guest house. The driver for Eucalyptus, whom we have never met before, met us at the airport. He took care of us and made us feel safe as other men were offering to help us with our luggage. We arrived at Eucalyptus within a few minutes. We were welcomed by the owner and his staff. The place had a very tropical feel and there was a swimming pool in the middle of the courtyard. They showed us to our rooms. The room I stayed in was a basic kind of room. It had 2 sets of bunk beds in one room and there was a bathroom that had a shower. The floor was tile and there was a window air conditioner. For whatever reason, the air conditioner was not on but the ceiling fan was. After we got settled a little, it was time for dinner. The table was already set for us. We were served a typical Haitian meal of legumes, beans and rice, and fried plantain. Everything was delicious and the staff was very accommodating and helpful and made every effort to make our stay awesome! It had been a long day so after dinner we retired to our rooms. The shower had hot water. That is a luxury in Haiti. It was dark so we couldn't get a feel for what the place really looked like until the next morning. When I walked out into the courtyard I couldn't believe how beautiful everything was! Trees with hammocks hanging between them. Parrots flying around. Mangoes hanging from a tree. Beautiful mountains in the distance. Potted plants sitting around. It was a tropical paradise! Breakfast was ready when we were and it was delicious! Pancakes and scrambled eggs. Everyone was so nice and they made our stay wonderful!

Many times on these reviews people can be so critical about every single little thing! I choose to not complain about things that don't really matter. Haiti is a 3rd world country. But you wouldn't have known it at Eucalyptus! The wifi was not in-room but was available close to the main house where meals were eaten.

I was very particular in choosing a place to stay for my fourth trip to Haiti. I am the "unofficial" mother of 2 Haitian children and I wanted to have them stay with me during my time in Haiti so the atmosphere of the guest house was extremely important to me as well as safety. After viewing photos and reading about Eucalyptus, my sixth sense told me this was the place for us and how right I was! The owner, Ernso, his wife, Gina and their daughter Christina couldn't have been nicer and were very supportive of the children on so many levels. Everyone I met at Eucalyptus, whether it be employees or other guests were kind and helpful and very interesting. The house, itself, has a wonderful, warm ambience and beautiful grounds with the added bonus of a swimming pool; however, the real secret lies in the loving family atmosphere that is so evident and so readily shared with their guests. I'll be back!

I've been traveling to Haiti for 34 years and have stayed in MANY places including some of the "better" hotels. The guest house is like staying in someone's home. Comfortable, good food, lots of conversation, and help if you need it. Our groups have been staying at the Eucalyptus for several years. Everyone has enjoyed the experience. A great find!

After a long week in rural Haiti, it was a pleasure to spend a night at the Eucalyptus Guest House. It is an oasis amidst the chaos in Port au Prince, complete with great service, good food, a comfortable bed. Where else in Port au Prince can you find a family operation that treats each guest as a family member? The swimming pool and gardens were unexpected treats.
