The Bahia Principe Grand Turquesa offers a mixed bag of experiences, according to guests. While the inviting atmosphere and entertainment such as the a la carte Rodizio are frequently praised, the service quality appears inconsistent, with both commendations and criticisms. Some guests are content with the clean and spacious rooms, yet others suggest they're dated and not as pristine as expected. The hotel's pool is a highlight, although issues with beach access have been noted. Moreover, concerns over value are evident, with reports of upselling and restricted amenity access without additional fees.

Everything was wonderful, from the pool to the entertainment to the people who work there. I would recommend checking in online before you arrive at the hotel l on their app. That is a lengthy process. And try to get a room closer to the pool.. enjoy!

This resort was spectacular. From the time we arrived to the time we left January 26-Feb 2, 2024. We were greeted at the airport with a shuttle service who took care of our luggage. Check in at the resort was a breeze not waiting more than 10 minutes. And while waiting you could have some fresh juice or an espresso, cappuccino or an Americana at the coffee machine in the lobby. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. All the grounds were pristine. There was a nice spot to lounge and cool down in the jacuzzi which is away from the main pool if you prefer a quiet spot. The pool area was always busy and was central to the buffet, the main lobby and lounge area. Every evening they had live entertainment which started at 8 and finished around 11pm. The food was fantastic at the buffet. They did have other restaurants you could make reservations at, however the food at the buffet was so varied each day that we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else. Our room was lovely. The only downside is that we had to climb a lot of steps to get to it. If you have mobility issues, I would suggest a ground floor unit. There are no elevators here. The have shuttles that will take you from the main area and drop you off at your unit. They have a golf course, a childrens splash pad, shops, excursion packages for whale watching, snorkeling, etc. We found there was a varied age group from younger families and their children to seniors here. It truly was a little piece of paradise. We highly recommend this resort if you are looking to relax and be well taken care of. We will most certainly be returning.

I read the reviews before booking and assumed it was just complainers. I should have listened. At best 2-3 star hotel The bad - we had two rooms adjoining. We needed to switch the first day. One room was not cleaned, toothpaste on the mirror, counters and taps. Sand in the bed, etc, etc. The second room door didn't lock or close. We returned to our door wide open. They reluctantly changed our rooms but we're not adjoining. The second rooms weren't much better. The drawers and cabinets were all broken and couldn't close fully and wouldn't open. Hot water was sometimes available for a shower and the settings on the tap needed to be played with to figure out where the hot water started if there was hot water. Took 20 mins one morning before we had hot water. The beds are rock hard. Like nothing I've slept in before. There are 7 hotels in this property, and you share amenities with almost all of them. It's crazy busy everywhere. The snack bar by the beach had ok good but the staff were absolutely awful here. At least a 30 min wait watching the staff yell at eachother because it's so unorganized. All the staff except the entertainment staff seemed to either hate their jobs or not give a crap about service. Normally we make friends with our server at the buffet and we always get the same server. This place we did not have a single conversation with a wait staff. I've never had such poor service at a resort. Only one drink at the beginning of your meal, they never came back for refills, etc. Food poisoning. My wife got violently ill as did 2 other couples we knew of on the resort and another family that travelled there months before us. The on site doctor was a scam $250usd to try and send us to a hospital for "low blood pressure" until he realized I knew how to take blood pressure using a stethoscope. The village stores were so high pressure sales we didn't buy any souvenirs. It was an awful experience even for Dominican standards. Our Air Canada travel concierge set us up with a taxi to go in the city and we got scammed by the "safe driver" Two of our excursions were changed or cancelled and we didn't get our money back I am having to go through my credit card. The beach is so full there are no seats anywhere if you're not there first thing in the am. People save seats with towels even though you're not supposed to, this year any enforced. So people use one towel for pool side and another for the beach chairs and then go eat. FYI the beach is a 2 min drive in a golf cart from the hotel lobby. Entertainment is spread though the other hotel lobbies and stages and no one would tell us what was happening or where. They direct you to an app that just says "live music" The good - the water is beautiful and the smaller pools are great. The entertainment staff were very fun and engaging. This trip was so bad we are considering not traveling to DR anymore.

The beach is so overcrowded it isn't even enjoyable. You are at least 2 feet from the next person if you are lucky. Horrible and I will not be back because of it. Also the liquor selection is pure swill. The pool was nice which is where we spent all of our time.

I had a bad experience when I saw employees talking loudly among themselves about things not related to their work while they were changing or manipulating in some way the food that I was going to eat, I found that action disgusting, they were just too close of the food ,It was almost as if their saliva was raining on the food, this unpremeditated action is not hygienic and could serve as a means of spreading disease. I didnt like it.

Terrible business ethics and customer service. This resort is all about $ and not about creating a good experience for their guests. Neither do they seem to care about return clients. We were there in December 2023 and booked this specific hotel within the resort due to it's waterpark and zipline park. We have 2 kids that were very excited to play on those 2 attractions. When we arrived, we found that BOTH the waterpark and the zipline park were out of service. Not recently either. The attendant at the entertainment desk told us the zip park had been closed for close to 5 years and the waterpark was closed for renovations. Of course, the hotel had not bothered to disclose this information at time of booking. They were still advertising both these activities on their page. When we approached management about this, they did nothing other than to try to get us to spend another $60/day to use the waterpark in Fantasia. They didn't even have the courtesy to offer that for free as a goodwill gesture to remedy their false advertising and their lack of providing amenities that we had paid for. They also gave me a form to fill out to file an official complaint but as I expected, that was a complete waste of time (never heard anything from it) as I'm sure it went straight into the trash. Upon our return home, I wrote a complaint email and a review on another site and all I was met with from Bahia was an apology ending with a "hopefully you'll have a better experience next time" type of statement. Next time?!?! Hahaha. With this type of customer service?!?! You've got to be kidding? No attempt to compensate us (we talked to the company we booked this through and they said the hotel should compensate us for this in some form of credit at the very least) for the fact that all the main activities on your resort were closed and you still had the audacity to charge full price and NOT tell us? Rest assured, there won't be a next time. We'll be taking our annual vacation elsewhere next time. PS. if you look at all the bad reviews, they are all related to this company's poor management, business ethics and customer service when something goes wrong.

I’m not sure why there are a lot of negative reviews for Turquesa property…but we had a wonderful time! There are about 6-7 Bahía resorts in this property and they’re all bigger and busier with different privileges /access. Turquesa was smaller in scale and quieter, which we preferred since you can go to the other resort for shows/entertainment. I was concerned about the distance to the beach but the shuttles were very quick. Getting beach loungers was a bit of a challenge since all the resorts share this beach and people put their towels on it all day whether they use it or not. Got the staff in yellow shirts to find us 5 loungers and just tipped them, and they were very helpful. Food was great…lots of options at the buffet and some a la carte restaurants were very good. Didn’t really like the Italian restaurant but liked the Brazilian grill and Seafood restaurants the best. Reserve these as soon as possible at the kiosk in lobby as other resorts book same a la carte. We reserved times for tennis and pickleball every morning before beach or pool time. Not in best condition as expected from the heat, but they had 2 tennis and 1 pickleball courts. This resort is close to water park for kids, which is convenient. Rooms were very spacious and clean. If you’re looking for newer rooms and grandeur / busier lobby or more luxury feel, opt to other Bahia properties and pay a premium. I found this resort to be budget friendly and we had a fantastic time. Staff are friendly and helpful. I don’t know why travelers expect all staff to speak English. You’re going to another country…perhaps learn some Spanish??

This vacation marked my inaugural venture into the realm of all-inclusive resorts, and while there were several drawbacks that might dissuade a return visit, there were certainly redeeming aspects. As a Canadian, unfamiliar with both resorts and the Dominican Republic, my perspective offers a fresh take on the pros and cons. Let's address the negatives first: 1. Culinary Underwhelm: The food, despite its promising appearance, failed to impress my group of enthusiastic foodies. The buffet and a la carte options both delivered a rather bland experience, leaving me unenthusiastic about the culinary offerings. Even the a la carte meals felt like reheated buffet fare, contributing to the overall mediocrity. 2. Room Quirks: The rooms, while satisfactory, fell short of pristine. Our excitement about a spacious tub was dampened by its less-than-immaculate condition. Additionally, a two-day water outage affected our villa, disrupting essential services like flushing toilets and showers. While acknowledging unforeseen issues, such occurrences undoubtedly marred our experience. 3. Hidden Costs and Limited Amenities: The resort's penchant for upcharges became apparent as we discovered that the snack bar was more of a restaurant, and basic amenities like room service incurred additional charges. The minibar, disappointingly basic, necessitated constant requests for replenishment. Moreover, the crowded and disorganized beach area, shared among multiple resorts, further diminished the overall appeal. 4. Practical Inconveniences: A dearth of electrical outlets in the rooms proved inconvenient, requiring creative solutions for charging devices. The minibar's minimal offerings (just beer, water and pop) left much to be desired. Navigating the beach chaos and limited food options added an unwelcome layer of stress to an otherwise relaxing atmosphere. Now, on to the positives: 1. Exceptional Staff: The standout feature of the resort was undoubtedly the friendly and accommodating staff. Their warm demeanor contributed significantly to the overall positive experience, making us feel genuinely welcomed. 2. Serene Pool Oasis: In contrast to the beach, the pool emerged as a highlight. Impeccably clean with a delightful swim-up bar, it provided a tranquil escape. Special events like the foam party showcased the dedication of the animation team, adding a fun and memorable element to our stay. 3. Engaging Evening Entertainment: Though limited in our participation, the evening entertainment left a positive impression. The well-organized activities, such as Bingo and live music, created a lively atmosphere without encroaching on tranquility. 4. Efficient Shuttle Services: The resort's shuttle services were a testament to organizational excellence, facilitating easy navigation and mitigating concerns about the distance to the beach. Additional insights for fellow travelers: 1. Mosquito Myth: Contrary to online complaints, our experience with mosquitoes was minimal. Perhaps specific areas faced issues, but within the Turquesa poolside, lobby, and most villas, mosquitoes were not a significant concern. 2. Strategic Shopping: Early exploration of the on-site shop is advised, especially for snacks and essentials. Additionally, bringing USD for convenience in transactions, particularly for excursions, proved beneficial. 3. Language Skills: A basic understanding of Spanish is advantageous for effective communication with the staff, enhancing the overall experience. 4. Health and Safety Preparations: Including waterproof bandages, activated charcoal, and Pepto-Bismol in your first aid kit can be invaluable for addressing minor health issues and ensuring an uninterrupted vacation. 5. Entertainment Beyond Language Barriers: Consider bringing a streaming device for English content, as the majority of available channels are in Spanish. This can be particularly useful during downtime or unexpected periods of rest. In conclusion, despite the reservations about certain aspects, my week at this resort in the Dominican Republic was undeniably memorable. While the food quality may deter a return visit, the exceptional pool, amiable staff, and overall positive ambiance make it a solid choice for those prioritizing relaxation and a vibrant atmosphere. Perspectives on food varied widely among fellow travelers, underscoring the subjective nature of resort experiences. Ultimately, the positives outweighed the negatives, and I depart with fond memories of a well-rounded vacation.

Hotel is in need of a remodel. Buffet tables were dirty and staff don't seem to be in a rush to clean up. Coffee service slow. Spanish is a beautiful sounding language except when its being blasted at the highest volume. No need to get up early to get a spot at the pool. If you want a spot at the beach probably have to get there before 7 am. Thousands of people at beach during the day. Very busy at pools by the beach also. Would probably not return.
