Our family of 10 ranging from 10-66 years old just spent Thanksgiving week at this fabulous property. We had a 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom villa for our group. Breakfast at BAMBOO was a highlight every morning. We also enjoyed our dinner meals there, spending the day at the WESTIN, dinner at the GRILL and our BBQ setup outside our villa one night. Huge shoutout to the following staff: Gerardo our villa manager who made everything perfect; Antonio, Jonathan and Alcedo who took care of us at meals (Alcedo also played the saxophone in the evenings and it was lovely); Jo Jo and Andy at the Beach Bar provide great service while you are at the beach all day (order the Boca Chica Fish at the beach bar); Juan and Felix prepared a lovely BBQ for us to enjoy and were so friendly; and Maria in housekeeping made out villa look spotless every day! Loved having our own golf carts and bikes for getting around the property. Had a great time swimming in the Ecological lagoons. We are already planning our next trip back. Do not hesitate to book this hotel!

I have written only a handful of reviews, but felt compelled to write this account of my stay at Tortuga Bay. Few of my past vacations have delivered luxurious treatment from start to finish as I experienced in my short 5 day stay. Following are some of my observations: Arrival- A brilliant touch for Tortuga Bay is the VIP arrival. It really sets the tone for the rest of you trip. When you descend the stairs of your plane, you will be met by a representative of the VIP program and delivered to the VIP terminal where you will rest, and have a drink while you are cleared through customs and immigration, and your checked bags are retrieved (be sure to save your checked luggage tickets, as that is how they retrieve the luggage). You are then escorted to your Tortuga Bay transportation. For our driver, we were lucky enough to have Camacho for both arrival and departure. He is a wonderful representative of the resort, personable and informative on the short trip to the resort. Once you arrive, you are met by your villa manager, who will escort you to your villa and complete check-in. They also provided us with a golf cart for our use while we were there . We had Gerardo and Carlos as our villa managers. They can make any reservations that you need and are always available by a phone provided to you for that purpose. We utilized them several times, and they always delivered. Resort- The resort is a huge complex. Tortuga Bay is but one of the hotels in the complex, but certainly the most luxurious. It has its own private stretch of beach, a pool and restaurant (on Tortuga Bay property, but can be used by others , as well). There is golf, other restaurants, a spa a nature reserve and other activities available. We didn't explore the full reach of the complex on our short stay, but will range further on our next trip. Villas- We stayed in a two bedroom ground-floor villa, It was very roomy, spotlessly clean, with no signs of wear. It surpassed all of our needs. Daily Housekeeping- Ana and Berky were our housekeepers. They unobtrusively did their work and kept our villa spotless. Fitness Room-At the time of our stay, this room had to be reserved for your private use (make these reservations through your villa manager when you check in). The room is well equipped with stationary and recumbent bikes, a treadmill, stepper, and a weight machine, free weights and dumbbells. Spa-- My wife used the spa ( a short golf cart ride away) during our stay and said that she had the best deep tissue massage that she has ever had from Madelyn. We tried to secure her service again but she is quite busy. You should probably make reservations for spa times at your check-in, also. Food- We ate breakfast at Bamboo every day and had dinner there three times. We ate dinner at La Yola twice. We usually had lunch or a snack by the pool each day (the pool is located at the Bamboo restaurant and served by the same staff). The menu at both restaurants was diverse. Food preparation and presentation were perfect, and creative. The chefs are truly talented and are not limited in their creativity and desire to accommodate patrons' desires by the menu alone. We really left with a appreciation for their work. I should mention that there was enjoyable live music for dinner, each night that we were there, either at Bamboo or La Yola. There was also Dominican night on Monday, with Dominican dishes available and live music and vendors. Service- Is always "spot on" and performed in a personable and easy manner. At La Yola, Alcantara stood out. We must reserve our highest praise for the staff at Bamboo. We spent the most time with them, and they were unfailingly smiling and personable. They were justifiably proud of their resort and their role. They had me ordering my breakfasts in Spanish by the end of our stay. Their good humor was always present, and attentive to the client's needs. One small example is that my wife inquired at our first breakfast whether there was raisin toast. There was none, but Alcedo, our server, made note of it and for the rest of our stay, there was raisin toast. Speaking of Alcedo, he also provided enjoyable dinner entertainment with his saxophone during two nights of our stay, and then was there bright and early the next morning to serve us breakfast. We wondered if he slept at all. Alcedo represented the competence and "no boundaries" service performed by each member of the Bamboo staff. We had the pleasure to interact with Antonio, Elihu, Bianchi, Manuel, Jonathan, Rogelio and Beddey every day, either at meals or by the pool or bar. These people are gems, without whom a luxury experience wouldn't be possible. They are the heart of Tortuga Bay. To the prospective traveler, if you haven't tried Tortuga Bay, you are in for a treat. We will certainly return for a longer stay.

If you’re looking for a carefree, pristine, first class vacation spot where your every need is anticipated and fulfilled, this is the place. I can give only the highest praise to the wonderful staff at Tortuga Bay Resort. The impeccable service and Friendly and experienced staff made our trip the most fun. From our host and food and beverage manager, Joe, who treated us as family and the magnificent staff of waiters, drivers, concierge, housekeepers, were all standouts. Antonio, our fantastic bartender, made the best Mojitos ever. our villa managers Carlos, Gerardo and Winifer checked in with us daily and made sure everything was perfect. Special shout out to Jonathan Jo Jo, Bianchi and the talented musician/waiter Alcedo who took special care of us at meal time and always brightened our day. Not only does the hotel provide you with a golf cart to drive around the property but they also provide drivers to whisk you to wonderful restaurants around the property and pick you up. Julio and Edinson took great care to get us places on time. If I have forgotten anyone I also thank you for making us a part of the Tortuga Bay Resort family and providing such a wonderful and relaxing vacation. Everyone, without exception, was the best. We look forward to returning.

This was our first time at DR and we are so glad we avoided the more popular hotel areas and stayed at Tortuga Bay. This is what a luxury vacation should be like. Every single staff interaction was just so pleasant. Our breakfast wait staff knew all our names and offered delicious fruit and bread selections along with breakfast. The Ojoj Indegenias reserve just a quick golf cart ride away was such a treat - lagoons you can swim in with turtles and fish - you can hang out here with a picnic basket from the hotel for hours. Many lagoons we had to ourselves. The beach staff was also well organized and attended to our needs with chairs, umbrellas at the right angles, drinks and food. La Yola restaurant was beautiful and such a treat! Our 3BR ocean front villa was absolutely spectacular with fresh fruit and bottled water sent to our room every day. One note for families with younger children ... our villa had separate upstairs (1BR/2BA) and downstairs (2BR/2BA) entrances. We took the upstairs bedroom and kids were all downstairs. It's extremely safe and our kids are a bit older - so no issues there. But when booking, you may consider just booking one floor if possible. Not sure if this is the setup in other villas. Golf carts were a blast too!

Tortuga Bay is the ultimate in customer service. The accomodations are in pristine condition and the food is magnifico. This paradise provides a peaceful retreat from the real world. No detail is overlooked. Not for folks looking for nightlife. For the family, it was the absolute perfect location. The VIP at the airport provides an easy transition to the world of being pampered. The Spa services and cocktails are not to be missed. I don't typically write reviews but this experience was unique and wanted to share . We plan on traveling back to see our new friends!

As part of their most frequent repeat guests, i always get asked the same question, why do you keep going back to the same place when you can get to see so many other places, and in this case the answer is is always the people, the service, and the quality of peacefulness. now for some details. The GM at this location was recently replaced, in addition to some of the behind the scenes staff that i had the opportunity to interact over the last decade plus. The new GM, was very friendly, coming out multiple times during the stay, to greet and mingle, which gave the feeling she really wants to learn from the guests first hand, we appreciated that. Some Pros, Every single member of the staff, and since there are so many i don't want to list their names in order not to miss any, however they are all world class trained, attentive, caring, and friendly, no snobbiness, no attitude, just ready to make your stay a pleasure, they deserve every tip you give, they remember your preference and anticipate it. However one person who i can not omit from this review by name, is the F&B Manager Joseph, who went above and beyond in every way to plan and execute the most amazing romantic evening on the beach, and left no stone unturned to accommodate every request, including bringing in special food from all parts of the country, and personally driving to pickup special wines, to putting up a special capsule on the beach once it started raining in order not to let anything stand in the way of making the night a success, to arranging music and flowers, etc. A real professional with a heart to match. [thank you for the cigar education] I do have a feeling that he will be doing the impossible and that is to upgrade the experience in this amazing place, by adding some fine tuned additions, that will make your stay even better. The grounds are maintained meticulously, from the manicured lawns, lit up trees at night, to beautiful landscaping, and beach. the gym is well maintained, the pool and bar always inviting. Sunrise is something that is just breathtaking beautiful, on clear days. you can see it from bed, or terrace, or you can walk out a few steps to the water. The food and drinks are of extremely high quality, and the bartenders make the best passion fruit mojito, and happy turtle in the country. The VIP experience on arrival and departure are still one of the most unique things that you can usually only experience by flying private. they do a great job at it. Some Cons Before i wrote them , be aware the pros outweigh them by far, and should not make you hesitate to go to this place. The price was very high this time [i am acknowledging they did discount it from what was originally quoted] however, just so you are aware, once you raise the bracket to such prices, whoever is ready to pay these prices, has other very high end places that he might consider which he wouldn't have otherwise. [especially as quite a few of the new high end places have own private pools] Since their is no entertainment in rainy weather at this hotel, [in good weather they have usually once a week some music by pool] we usually always book the spa for whenever it rains, however due to hurricane damage the spa was closed and treatments were being done in the rooms of other villas, had we known this before we had made our plans we would have booked for a different date once the spa is open, therefore i suggest, letting visitors know upfront [maybe on your website, like many hotels do] that the spa is closed for renovations. Additionally i suggest there should be some form of activity/entertainment for rainy weather/evenings, whether its billiard table [they used to have one a few years back] or table tennis, or vendors that exhibit something, it would enhance peoples stay. Another item that could be taken into consideration would be to upgrading the English speaking channels that are available, or to adding movies for a cost, since there was very few good shows to watch in in the evening in English. Bottom line, is that its still one of the most special places to go and relax, when you are looking for quiet R&R. If you have been there i don't have to explain, if you haven't, GO.

We were invited to Tortuga Bay villa Puntacana beach resort. It was there slowest month. It was amazing the accommodation, Golf , Tennis, Wellness program with spa, Natural springs, all three restaurants food and service impeccable. One of the manager Joseph Stein even came to airport to see us off. They recommend to visit after November more people visits. You must order Lobster and Tomahawk steak. They have PGA championship golf course. We drove around to see all the celebrities house including Julio Ignacio. Who is the part owner of the airport, Villa and the Golf courses. Above all the wait staff’s services is very friendly. I heard all the celebrities including President Clinton frequently visits the villa’s restaurants and golf courses.
