We had a wonderful trip! The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The pool is great, but in need of updating. We did wish that there were parts that were a bit deeper than 3 feet. We went to a couple of shows and they were entertaining. You could tell they work hard to put on a good show. If you have an early dinner, it's something to do in the evening. Rooms: We travelled with two teens and got the family room. It's two adjoining rooms. It was great because it kept them close, but gave them (and us) privacy. The rooms are very dated, especially the bathrooms. They are clean and comfortable. We were only in our room to sleep and shower, so that wasn't an issue. We were in building 7 and it was the perfect location. It was quiet and relaxing since it wasn't too close to the main pool area or the night life. Our AC worked great. We were on the first floor and I don't know if that makes a difference. We stayed nice and cool. Food: It was ok. There wasn't anything that stood out as being great. Bordeaux and Portofino were both good. I think Portofino is able to accommodate large groups better than others. Seaside Grill was one of our favorites. The steaks were good (think mid-range steak house in the US). The food was fairly similar no matter which restaurant you went to, except Himatsu. Himatsu was a huge disappointment. The Hibatchi table were already filled for the night when we got there at 6:30. We sat at a regular table and the food wasn't very good. It was our least favorite meal. You really need to get there right when it opens to get a Hibachi table. We really wanted to try it again and have that experience, but it didn't work out. They are rotating the restaurants that are open and it was sometimes hard to know what was open. The daily paper with the activities wasn't always right. Oceana is the seafood restaurant, but it was mostly fish. That was a bit of a disappointment. The menus are limited and sometimes what you get is a little different than expected. Preferred club: We were on the fence about doing this and are glad we did. The preferred beach area was worth the extra. The beach beds were very comfortable with a great view of the ocean. A waitress comes through regularly to bring more drinks. You can order lunch and they will bring it to you. We would walk over to Trattoria, get pizza, and bring it back. There is plenty of room to have a picnic on the beach beds. It was nice being able to have a sit down breakfast/lunch at Oceana. It's close to the beach with beautiful scenery. The preferred club does make the best drinks. I didn't feel like it was a convenient location if you were at the beach or certain areas of the pool. The snacks were ok. The seaweed wasn't as bad as we expected. The sand is soft, but it is very rocky once you get in the ocean. The teens usually love swimming in the ocean, but the rocks cut their feet and they didn't stay in long. The resort doesn't have any control of this and it's typical for the area, not just at this resort. There are vendors on the beach that will approach you as soon as you step on the public part of the beach and are pushy. They are not allowed on the resort property. Bring a yeti/insulated tumbler. They will fill these at the bars and it will keep your drinks cold. We had an amazing relaxing time and really enjoyed our time here!

A very tired hotel. I visited off peak season and everything looked exhausted. The welcome staff were stressed upon check in. This was not helped by incredibly rude guests shouting in the lobby. If you’re expecting luxury, this place doesn’t exactly draw in that clientele. The entrance lobby is very beautiful. But that’s where it stops. I was staying in a walk out pool room in block 2. The room smelt terrible. Damp and old. Rattling AC units. Tiles coming away. Terrible quality towels. Dusty behind the bed. I didn’t want to sit on the couch because I don’t think it had been cleaned, ever! The food was of a low quality. At breakfast and dinner in the buffet restaurant, a lot of the parts were closed. The staff were incredibly friendly. This was the only redeeming feature. The pool was a great size. However, the tiles around our area were all coming away and were being repaired towards the end of our stay. It seems “wait until the completely broken to fix/repair” rather than general maintenance. The quality of the ingredients is not good. Everything seemed rammed with additives and sugar. Almost impossible to have a raw salad or anything healthy. The drinks are low quality liquor despite calling it too shelf. I wouldn’t not recommend this hotel.

Beautiful resort, but not worth it. Beaches were gross with seaweed. It’s so humid you can barely stand it. We upgraded to Preferred Club, but didn’t receive half the promised benefits such as extra maid service, upgraded toiletries, etc. They hardly ever left us fresh towels and we always had to ask for extra towels and wash rags. Towels never dry with humidity here. Never left extra toiletries, we were always asking for more soap. Water was brown in bathrooms. Service in buffets is very slow and food was just ok. Half the restaurants are closed every night. If you don’t want to wait forever, go at 6. The pool is very cool and winds through entire resort. Beach setup is pretty with lots of shade, chairs, and cabanas, just covered in seaweed. Bar service is excellent.

I went with my loving family of 26 people. It was a lot to take care of such a large group. From planning a day activities to normal things like dinner Reservations. However the resort went above and beyond and I would like to thank all of the staff for being so friendly and helpful. They really make you feel at home! Dip Rosa in particular went above and beyond and made sure our family was take care of. I would recommend this lovely resort to anyone. Also the food was great I’ve stayed at all inclusive resorts before and the food was not too good.

I've traveled to many islands and have stayed at many resorts. We were there to celebrate two birthdays and had 33 people (Adults and Children ranging from Age 7-18). Here are the pros/cons Pros * This resort is huge and the greenery and how it's maintained is absolutely beautiful. Beautiful trees and plants. * People/Staff: Very friendly and accommodating. Special thanks to Franklin and the waitress (I forgot her name) at the Preferred Cabanas. They made the stay so pleasant and took care of our group. * Value: With the price we received it was tremendous value. * Preferred Club: Definitely upgrade to this if you want to get better alcohol and service at the cabanas. Rest of the amenities in preferred is just nice to have but we didn't even use it. * Food: I've also documented below the Cons on food. Overall, the food is average at best. Don't expect it to be like Mexico. There are about 6 restaurants and the buffet. * Oceana (as part of the preferred club for breakfast and lunch) was awesome. The views while eating just puts you in a peace of mind. * Himatsu (Japanese Hibachi) was solid as well where they provide you beef, chicken and fish. Fun chef and overall a great time. * Burger Grill on the beach: Surprisingly very good with hamburgers, chicken burgers and veggie burgers. Also, hot dogs and nachos. * Preferred Club: If you want better alcohol, you need to go to this and get it or get the waitress in the preferred cabanas to get it. While it's watered down alcohol, you do get better brands like Don Julio and Gentleman Jacks. Not the greatest but anything is better than Jose Cuevo/Jimador. In addition, the sandwiches were good especially the ham and cheese. * Pool: Beautiful long winding pool. * Water Sports: A big shout out to Guadalupe who helped us setup a charter and handled some issues from the chartering company. Cons/Minor Headaches/Issues * Check In: They weren't prepared to handle our check in at the Preferred desk. A lot of confusion and took us a long time to get our rooms. * Food: Food was average at best at the Buffet, Portofino (italian restaurant) and Bordeaux (French Restaurant) and Steakhouse were just meeeh. Steaks were overcooked, pasta tasted like rubber. Desserts really were nothing exceptional. * Beach: Sand is soft and warm but the beach had a ton of seaweed. You can't really swin there. * Rooms: It was a bit dated but clean. Will I go back? Absolutely and that is why I gave it 5 stars. The cons were minor when you look at the big picture. Our kids had a blast just hanging out and swimming. They have music at night and shows (some good) and the fact we were all together dancing and enjoying life, it was an amazing trip. I highly recommend this resort.
