The Royalton Punta Cana, An Autograph Collection Resort & Casino invites mixed reviews, with guests praising the cleanliness and beachfront location, yet some feel let down by the Diamond Club, reporting poor value and unfulfilled promises. While the lively pool and entertainment are highlights for many, the hotel's atmosphere is marred by outdated conditions for some.
Despite mixed service feedback, many travelers are disappointed by rooms that fall short in cleanliness and maintenance. Amenities receive varied responses, with the beach and certain dining options standing out positively.

Detailed Reviews
Our 2nd visit to this hotel and although we felt it had slipped a bit from our previous stay 2 years ago we still had a lovely holiday.
We weren’t advised beforehand that a $200 deposit was required on check in, this wasn’t the case 2 years ago, so was unexpected. It wasn’t a problem but it could be for some people and I think this should be made clear upon booking the holiday.
We were initially given a room on 2nd floor at the back of block 6, which we weren’t happy with but Rosa from diamond club reception arranged for us to be moved the next day, there was no hassle and we were happy with that then.
The food in the buffet restaurant was really good and there were some excellent sea food choices on a few occasions.
There did seem to be quite a lot of waiting for tables and waiting for coffee etc so I think they were a bit short staffed.
We ate in the Japanese, steak and Italian restaurants, we enjoyed the Japanese and steak restaurants but felt the Italian wasn’t as good as it used to be.
Some of the outside spaces, like around the pool and the under cover boarded area could do with some renovation. The room I thought was a good size but could just do with little bit of updating. Hangers in the wardrobes - there were only about 8..... definitely need more hangers putting in there, you can’t hang all your clothes.
Beach was amazing and was always tidied, it was difficult to find sun loungers if you didn’t go out early enough.
Pools were ok but we didn’t get to use them much as there’s not enough sun loungers around there, and the ones that are there were taken by around 8 am, with loads of them still left empty hours later. Not good practice on the loungers being reserved from that early in the day only to be left empty for hours.
Rooms were cleaned well and our maid was lovely, I didn’t get her name. Also the maid who called in the room at night time did a very good job too.
We paid extra again this time for diamond club, our butler, Ozanu, was lovely and checked in with us every day and he dealt with our bookings for the restaurants so at least we had reservations and didn’t have to wait.
Overall though I don’t think diamond club was worth the extra money for what you get. The diamond club pool is not exclusive and it’s worse than using the normal pools unless you’re in one of the swim up rooms. We didn’t really use the diamond club lounge and the diamond club bar is not much different than any of the other bars.
They did do a diamond club bbq dinner in the beach one night, they food was just average but we were on the beach so only to be expected but it was a lovely gesture and a lovely set up.
Mily and Evangeline (I hope I’ve spelt that correctly) from the Martini bar were wonderful, very professional and pleasant, lovely ladies. I think the hotel has some excellent staff.
A few people have mentioned tips on reviews I’ve read, we did tip for good service but never felt that it was expected or that we got a lesser service when we didn’t.
We did the trip to Saona island this time and it was well worth the visit.
Thank you once again Royalton for a lovely holiday

+1
Fitness: Although the treadmills were temporarily not available due to sanitary reason, the elliptical and spinning bikes were available. decent size gym fully equipped. The place was clean and there was towel and water bottle on site, TV, Lots of mirrors. There was also at least 5 times a day outdoor fitness activities like Zumba, water spinning (loved it ), bootcamp, yoga, pilates and aqua fitness. The instructors are dynamic and extremely friendly
Spa: Staff is courteous. I only accessed the baths included with the diamond club package ( 1 hr a day) The spa has its own pool outside limited to the spa users (extra $), a jacuzzi and a cold bath. The steam room and sauna are temporarily closed due to sanitary measures. There is showers, towels, relaxing area (in/out) long-chairs and water bottles on site.
Diamond club: access private beach area, restaurant without reservation, access to better variety of liquors, access to diamond club lounges which have sandwiches, yogourts, fresh fruits and liquor all day. Butler service for reservation & any question available at all time on WhatsApp. ( I had a swim up room in the diamond club section of the Hideaway ).
Staff: I was impressed by the service from the staff, knowing that they have a heavy work load. Always smiling and happy to answer any questions to the best of their knowledge
Room type: The swim up room is worth the splurge. I was at the Hideaway part of the Royalton which means that it is an adult only section. I was able to sun bath and read whiteout being bothered on my balcony by the pool. there was 2 long chair and a table 2 chairs. The room was cleaned twice a day and the mini bar was refilled daily.
Beach: clean beach, white sand, clear water, free water equipment access. I enjoyed the kayak.
Pool: Pools are clean and in good condition. The hideaway pool is only accessible with the Hideaway bracelet. There is some fitness activities reserved for the adult only part as well
Restaurants: Good food honestly. Very decent.
Cons: I would appreciate a tub in my room.
My highlight: The Butler service was A1 ! As well as the reception staff from the hideaway lounge. The night shift lady ( I wish I could remember her name ! ) gave an outstanding service and went beyond to help me with upgrading my room. Angelo the butler made the highlight of my stay. He made sure to know what time I prefer eating ( important for me as I eat early) took note of it and made a reservation for me at every restaurant on the property so I can try them all. He also helped retrieving information about the cover test that is required for the Canadians. He took my suitcase from my room to the bus while I was checking out. Thank you so much !

This is my first time ever posting a review on this site so pls bare with me.
I was there from October 30th to November 6th. I stayed at the Royalton Punta Cana, I was in Building 5, room was on second floor.
First off, the building location as perfect as was 60 seconds away from room to beach so very practical if you need to go back to the room for anything.
I thought at this time of the year it would be quite, November but in fact, it was completely full capacity. You do have to get up early in order to go to the beach and reserved chairs under with the shade otherwise, you are doomed as it was really hot everyday, like 35-40 degrees and sunny so make sure to wake up early to get a spot in the shade.
The beach was prefect in every way, white sandy beach, no seaweeds at all.
The ocean was beautiful blue clear water, rocks or seaweed in water either, a few waves but made it fun, nothing dangerous. I travelled with my 14 year old son and we had a blast.
The food is absolutely amazing, lots of variety, from the buffet to the restaurants a la carte.
If staying at Royalton, you can go eat at all the a la carte restaurants at no extra fees, all included. We went twice to the steakhouse, twice to the Mexican restaurant and another two times to the Japanese restaurant where they do the show in front of you sitting around the table, great show, food is delicious.
They have shows every night innthe Theatro at 9 pm. lots of seating arrangements so no worries, you'll find a place.
Pls bring us money as you will need this money for tipping, its the preferred currency in Punta Cana.
The PCR test was done at the hotel 3 days before returning home, the cost is $80 us per person, can be paid cash, or credit card.
You will also need $20 us when leaving at the airport, this needs to be paid in cash only and us money only, its $20 per person, make sure to have enough cash money to leave.
Every night, there is live music outside, live bands, djs, shows, really great ambiance.
There is a sport snack bar that is opened until 2 am, they have really good snacks there too, poutine, chicken wings, phylli steak sandwich, etc...
The ride from airport to hotel is about 30 minutes.
At night, they come and prepare your room for bedtime which means, they open the ac, they open the night table lights, turn on your tv, and prepare the covers so that you can just ease into your need when you come back.
I think I covered it all, if you have any questions, pls respond on this post.

My family went to Royalton Punta Cana for a wedding this past April 2021. Here is the short list of why if I could leave 0 stars I would: Check-in: Took 2 hours to check in, it was totally disorganized. My son has sensory disorders and he did not want to wear the bracelet, they told me he didn’t have to wear it, thank God I took it with me and saved it on the purse, because at checkout if you don’t have it they try to charge you $20. COVID Testing: the process to get an appointment took 2 hours, super disorganized. They want to leave the testing for the day before your return trip, and the only way to assure an appointment is to “tip” them which then it appears an appointment magically appears. Service: All Caribbean countries live off the tips, it is expected you will offer tips, but in the other Caribbean countries they earn the tip first. Punta Cana is the only place in the Caribbean where the tip is expected before the service. In my case, my kids only eat chicken tenders when we travel, I went to the buffet and they don’t have that. They tell you that you have to go to the room and order room service for them. Yet the tenders come from the same kitchen. However, if you slip the guy $5, then all of a sudden it is no longer an issue and you can get the tenders. Horrible service. My cousin was getting married on Saturday, they changed her wedding details every single day, to make her pay more for things and to keep her worried and anxious so that she would just pay for the things to be as originally promised. At checkout, one of the guy at the front desk threaten to “sue” me because I told him I would not pay for the bracelet, that I would find it. Room: Toilets don’t flush and smell like sewer. The curtains were full of holes indicating bugs. The fire alarm kept going off in the dining rooms and since my room was close that all night it was the constant noise. The power kept going in and out and the generators had to run. The people working at the resort did not help you locate your rooms, they sent me to building 12 when my room was in building 4. The whole trip felt disorganized and not a luxury vacation in any sense of the word. You had to keep asking for silverware at the dining locations, and they would make everything single request as a huge deal so you would “tip” them for a simple spoon and a glass of water. The orange juice is artificial, so stay away from that. The alcohol is watered down, even the beer.
Pro: The beach was beautiful. my recommendation is for you to go to another location with a great beach instead of spending $2,700 for a family of 4 plus airfare in a mediocre location.
Overall, for a vacation where you have a dirty over-crowded pool, I rather do them in the United States or the Bahamas, both beautiful locations where the service earns their tips not where they demand it to give you what you originally paid for, the basic service.

We enjoyed our stay in the diamond club family suite at the Royalton Bavaro Resort and spa. Asked for ocean view and had partial view which was great. The Zen Japanese restaurant was excellent and Hunters which we ate twice at the service and food was so good. Rio which was upstairs and you could sit outside on the deck was amazing. All the staff were pleasant. We had our own breakfast restaurant which was for Diamond club members. Our butler Melvin Butter was so attentive to all our needs going above to be sure we had reservations for the encartre and champagne and chocolate strawberries. He text everyday to see if we needed anything. He checked in to be sure we had luggage ready for pick and went with us to check in and to be sure we got on the bus to the airport. Very pleasant guy. We would recommend him for sure. The butler on the beach were always refreshing your drinks and keeping them cold. The lounges for diamond club had thick cushions on and although you needed to go early to get one was a bit of a hassle but we are early risers so no problem for us. This was on the ocean. Didn’t use the pools so can’t comment.
Our room was cleaned and fresh towels and the turn down service which we didn’t use the maid stopped every night to see if we needed fresh towels and left chocolates.
We have stayed at other Royaltons and this one did not disappoint. Would recommend for sure.

Me and my family, 2 adults 2 kids, along with 2 friends and their 2 kids travelled to the Royalton Punta Cana on September 04, 2021 and stayed for 7 nights. My friends stayed at the Royalton Splash which is less than 10 minutes walking distance from the Royalton Punta Cana. We booked with Sunwing. Overall the hotel is clean and I think the staff works hard to give good service but I would rate it an at a 3 1/2 star. There was
language barrier with the staff. My butler Nelson was very good, he booked all my meals and checked in with us a few times daily to see how things were going. We had the "Luxury" Presidential suite room and Diamond Club. The room was spacious with 2 bathrooms and a dining table, so that was good. Coffee maker in the room but no kettle. The living room had pull out couch which was large enough for my kids to sleep on. I must say I regret having my kids sleep on that bed because on the day we were checking out, we had to search for my daughters glasses, so we took up the mattress, and no joke, I was shocked!. The mattress was all tattered and torn on the edges ( I could see metal) and overall nasty looking/ discolored. It looked like something someone was sleeping on since 1960's. The maid did not leave pillows in the room for the kids to use and when I realized in the night and called for service, the worker answered and said hold on, then put the phone down. I could hear ppl talking and he never came back on the line, neither did the pillows come. The next day I complained and I noticed there were about 5 bottles of liquor that was placed in my room, not that it was any benefit since we are not big drinkers. If you like hotels with high class food, this is not the hotel for that!. The food was mediocre in my opinion, nothing impressive and aspects of it depicted "struggle food". For example, the hotel served chopped up fried chicken pieces ( leg and thigh) for chicken wings. There was no fresh orange juice, instead a orange drink mix similar to Tang was served. Do not order the Club Sandwich. The liquor at the bars were low grade, and you could tell especially in the daiquiri and pina coladas. My friends had to walk over from splash for all their meals since all the restaurants at their hotel was closed. Only the water park stayed opened over there. The Disco was closed and nightly outdoor entertainment ended at 11 pm. Sunwing told us the on-site Covid test costs $78 usd but it costs $90 usd so prepare to pay the extra. The Sports Bar smelt very moldy. On a positive note, the beach was clean with just snippets of seaweed in the water and on the shore. They kept it clean and it didn't stink either. The pools are large and clean and the water is nice and warm. The free Hydrotherapy at the Spa for Diamond Club members added a nice touch to the experience.
language barrier with the staff. We enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing vacation at this resort.
The beach was clean, beautiful and we were fortunate because there was always plenty of chairs for guests no matter what time of the day we ventured out. The staff were on hand to help you with what you needed.
The food was amazing but keep in mind that I am not a picky eater. My favourite place to eat was Dorado, but this restaurant is for Hideaway guests only. The service at all the restaurants was excellent and we did not have to contend with any line ups. In saying that, we eat early so I think that helped. For Hideaway guests there was a common lounge in reception area that was always well stocked with delicious snacks and beverages.
Although a bit outdated, our rooms were very clean and serviced twice a day. The cleaning staff were diligent and provided us with what we needed. We were fortunate to have Decelina ( I think that was her name) as our cleaning lady and she went out of her way to make sure our room was immaculate. She always left our room with a beautiful display of roses and towel origami which we really appreciated.
I love to start my day with a work out and I have to admit that the gym was a bit of a disappointment. It was too small for the size of the resort and it was not clean. The pictures provided in their advertisement do not accurately depict the size or condition of the gym. On a positive note, the resort does offer plenty of fitness activities outside of the gymnasium that you can enjoy.

We went as a family of 4 with our 2 daughters aged 5 months and 5 years. We cannot highly rate the resort and its staff for making us feel ever so welcome and at home.
The resort was amazing, clean and served our every need as a family from the rooms down to the facilities, restaurants and evening entertainment for children and me and my wife.
I would like to give a special mention to the below people who made sure that our holiday went smoothly and for them to go above and beyond to make our trip a great pleasure.
First and foremost to our friend Ozuna. From the moment we met, he made us feel at home and was always at our beck and call to ensure that everything was OK with us. He checked in on us everyday at least 2-3 times a day and always messaged to ask us if we needed anything. Our restaurants were always booked and our room was always loaded with enough water and drinks. Even on his days of he messaged to ensure that we were looked after in his absence. My eldest daughter still asks about him and says she misses him and wants to go back to see him. We thank you for everything and for making our trip memorable. You are a great great human. The world needs more people like you in it.
Next to chef Daniel in the main buffet restaurant. Being food lovers and especially spicy food, we asked Daniel if he had any hot sauce when we first went there and he made up a Picante Sauce for us which was absolutely delicious. All our dinners at the buffet restaurant where simply delicious. Daniel even made us a few special treats which were full of flavour and tasty to say the least. I think he is a Masterchef.
Lastly to the poolside staff and bar staff, Yeraldin, Elibania and Popo. Most of our days were spent by the poolside/beach and these three were always quick to get our drinks and food and ensure we always had a drink in hand. They kept our area clean all the time and made sure that we did not have to lift a finger and this made it easy as parents so that we could be more attentive with our children. Kudos to POPO on his cocktail making skills.

A wonderful time at the Royalton Punta Cana. Clean and comfortable resort, lovely service from polite and friendly staff. The staff here truly take the resort to the next level. Extra thanks to Emmanuel, our Diamond Club butler, he is awesome!! We are very glad to have upgraded to Diamond Club, well worth it. Thanks to Thomas and Yaniel with Nexus for being so helpful and arranging our buggies tour, muddy but fun! The water park was great for the kids — we spent our mornings there before heading to the beach and pool in the afternoon. Hunters and Zen were our top restaurant picks, and we also enjoyed the buffet very much too. There is no shortage of food and drink to enjoy, and restaurant staff were very attentive. All patrons were provided with hand sanitizer before being seated — little things like that added to peace of mind given the current pandemic.

This was our first stay at the Royalton, our second visit to Punta Cana. We had a private shuttle to the hotel and were greeted by staff with a flute of a sugary drink for my husband and kids. Our luggage was taken to our room while we were escorted to the Diamond Club lounge for check in. The lounge is air conditioned and a bit on the cold side but it did have some nice treats and food. We were then showed around by one of the staff and to our room.
The rooms were quiet unless anyone was out in the hall, as the place is made of concrete and open to the outside in the hallways. Besides early risers or drunk late nighters it was quiet. The beds were comfy. Unlike the Nickelodeon and some other new hotels that only offer a bed and a pull out couch. Our room had two double beds. The toilet didn't work when we got to the room and they quickly fixed it. The buffet was ok, the desserts reminded me of what you'd get at a Chinese Buffet, so desserts were not their strong point, so if you like chocolate, bring your own, they only serve dark chocolate on their desserts and to buy a chocolate bar at their store, it's about $4-$6. The entertainment was good, but their theatre had a lot of broken seats so for the most popular show a lot had to stand or sit on steps. The water park was fun. Just remember to lift your butt when going down the large yellow slid the water can really spank you on the way down. They had a foam party in the pool, my husband and son had no choice but to inhale some of the bubbles and it was a bit harsh on their throats. Plus don't leave any kids unattended when that is going on, it will go over their heads. We did get the cabana for 2 days, but expect to pay for it. Cost is $39.99 US, the diamond club gets a $25 off coupon. The kids loved the room service you can order off the TV. We liked seeing the entertainment options on our TV as well. It was a nice stay, the weather could have been better, we got lots of wind and red flags at the beach. So my only feedback would be a step up on the buffet (we really loved the buffet at the Nickelodeon Resort, that was amazing) No cost on the cabanas would have been nice, more of a reservation, but they only have so many so I guess they have to charge. Also to fix up the theatre so everyone can have a seat. I also do have to note that my husband ate some deep fried calamari at the Grazie restaurant and was not well, my son had one of them and also had some distress. I myself had some dried chicken at the buffet and my digestive track was not happy. My guess was for my husband the calamari had turned and they tried to fry the crap out of it and the chicken sat too long. I would go back if they had the same buffet spread as the Nickelodeon. Otherwise it was a nice stay. Great service, nice staff.

Dear AmbenWB; Thank you very for taking a moment of your important time to provide us your review of your recent stay in our property. We regret to hear you encountered some Maintainance issues in your room and Common areas. Your comment has been sent to the department in charge to apply immediate actions. We have noticed your comment regarding your food experience. We would like to mention that our Executive Chef works hard to make an extensive and varied menu of luxury dishes, and he usually accomplishes this goal for all our guests. However, we understand that individual tastes are not common and that not everyone enjoys the same kind of food. We would sincerely appreciate it if you could contact us and give us more precise details about the food quality and what you would like to see improved. This would be of great help to us in our continuous efforts to improve our property and its services. We sincerely hope you can give us another chance to host you and be able to show you what a wonderful vacation you can have at Royalton Punta Cana. Kindest regards, Royalton Punta Cana Team
