This is the second Breathless Resort we stayed at and I must say they didn't disappoint! We had Xhale rooms which came with a host and extra perks like a private lounge, premium alcohol, private pool and more! Our host Joel was absolutely amazing. He was responsive everytime we texted him, made sure our room was stocked with everything we needed/ wanted and was so friendly and kind. Downfall was 2 days during breakfast the only meat option was pork. Thankfully, a waitress named Ilaria noticed I wasn't eating much and went back to the kitchen to have them make me a chicken option for breakfast. I was so appreciative of her. Food at all the restaurants was good. We used room service as well and had Julio deliver the food. We did lunch and late night snack and he was smiling and helpful and our food was always fresh and hot.…
Resort was everything and more. Everything you need is right at your foot steps. Dreams resort is next door and you have access to there amenities, restaurants, and services. If your and exhale club member the room get upgraded and you get your own personal butler. Willy was our butler and was very attentive, helpful and responsive. Even on his one day off he would check on my bestfriend and me to see if we needed anything.
Dates of stay: June 23 - July 1, 2022 * Hotel The hotel itself is immaculately kept. Laid out very conveniently, beautiful grounds, manicured daily. Our room, an Exhale Club junior suite swim out, was large, but there was relatively little storage space. Maid and room service was prompt and attentive. After about half a day to get oriented, we had no trouble finding our way around. The staff were all cheerful and helpful. Each room has its own router, so internet service was fast. Not quite as good in common areas, but still perfectly adequate for vacation. We go to the Fitness Center every day, and this is a big one, since it is shared with the 900 room Dreams Onyx resort next door. An impressive array of cardio equipment on the first floor, but maintenance is a bit lacking in that a number of the machines were not in good working order. The second floor is for strength training, and has a good variety of machines and weights. It can get pretty crowded unless you go very early or after 11 a.m. * Bars As is often the case with resorts, the outside bars, such as the pool swim up bars, were fine for basic drinks that could be mixed ahead of time: pina coladas, margaritas, etc. Give the bartenders something challenging at your own risk. We did feel that, with a couple of exceptions, that the outside bartenders were not as personable as some other resorts we’ve been to. This may be a consequence of the labor shortage that seems to exist everywhere after the pandemic. More on that later. The inside bars, such as Wink and the Exhale Club Lounge bartenders, were top notch, and stocked plenty of premium brands. Wink was our favorite, as they had live entertainment every night, and our favorite bartender: Murfi. A real pro with a great personality. * Restaurants The food was almost uniformly terrific. We had one substandard meal out of 24. Our favorites were The Strip, Coquette (French), and Silk City (Asian). Breakfast buffet was all you could ever want. Service was first class, and portions were just right. It was, however, a disappointment that several of the restaurants were closed for dinner our entire stay: Picante (Mexican), Kibbeh (Middle Eastern/Mediterranean), and Sofrito (Latin). Again, this may be related to a worker shortage. We were told the resort was at 85% capacity. Hard to believe that when 50% of the restaurants were closed every night, yet we never had to wait for a table. * Pool There is water everywhere you look. The two big pools were the Freestyle Entertainment Zone — where the craziness occurs on a regular basis — and the Main pool, which was huge and also a lot of fun. Had no problem getting chairs, which also seems to belie that 85% occupancy claim. Pools were very clean, and plenty of servers going around if you didn’t want to get up and go to the bar. Lots of activities at the Main Pool. * Beach The beach was a mixed bag. It’s huge, and the sand is high quality. Plenty of chairs, both covered and non-covered. The water is shallow and nice for swimming. The drawback is the sargassum weed. The resort is on the Atlantic side of the island, and when the wind blows from the North (which it usually does), the weed can be a real problem. They have barricades in the water to block it, and a tractor routinely goes up and down the shoreline picking up what it can. But it’s still quite a problem on some days. We read reviews talking about snorkeling right off the hotel beach. Our experience was that it’s not worth the effort. Too much sargassum and not many fish. * Entertainment The E-Team was terrific. The “Rock Show” was our favorite, but the Broadway Show was very good, too. Live music in the Wink bar was very good every night. At the pools the music was a little out of our box (we are “senior citizens”), and loud. But if you don’t like it, there are plenty of alternatives.…
We had the best week ever during our stay at Breathless! The food and restaurants were all amazing. The drink list at every bar was extensive and service was always quick. The rooms were spotless and the resort was extremely well-maintained. Kendoll, super mini, sugar and the whole entertainment team made our trip a blast with all of the fun activities. Every night they have a show and/or themed party which was so much fun. HIGHLY recommend the resort and we definitely will be returning!
We had an amazing time @ Breathless for our honeymoon. Our concierge Onal was the best. He was very attentive and very responsive to all of our requests. The resort was very beautiful and well maintained. All of the staff there was very friendly and the food was great. We will definitely come back to visit.
Onal is the best!! We had a great honeymoon. Everyone took care of us and made sure we were having a good time. The food was delicious and they had multiple different restaurants to try. We definitely plan on going back!
Willy is the perfect butler if you are booking Xhale Club! We lost our phone, he found it. Anything we needed, he got it!! The resort itself is really nice and you also have access to Dreams Onyx. It was my birthday so they put a banner on my door and surprised me with a cake and champagne. The spa is also great, must visit!
Lucy was so helpful and kind when it came to answering our questions and helping us book a cabana, private dinner on the beach, and breakfast in bed. The Xhale club was 100% worth it as it felt like a much more personal experience. The food was absolutely incredible and we had plenty of choices between Breathless and Dreams. I do wish we had another breakfast choice as most of the options were very similar and the Wi-Fi was pretty spotty depending on where we were at. Overall I would recommend this resort to anyone!
We had the best time here at breathless punta Cana. Our host Wullie was the best host very helpful. The restaurant were good. The best was good. When u do this restaurant u have to do xhale club. Love breathless.I recommend wullie as ur host. He’s the best.
Overall the hotel is nice, the staff are friendly, the food and beverages are good enough, but that’s about it. We upgraded our stay to the Xhale Club and whilst it was nice having the mini bar stocked daily and specific restaurants Xhale members can visit at breakfast and lunch, we can’t say that it was totally worth it. We had a personal hotel rep that was really lovely and helpful but it did feel like we were being hunted down sometimes as he would appear by the pool or in the restaurant at lunch. The signs for the Xhale club said that you would need to show your room key card to gain access but this was rarely upheld and we were only asked once at the Xhale club bar during our entire stay. We did also find that there weren’t enough beds by the main Xhale club pool, there were roughly 20 beds (8 with parasols) but as it was by the main Xhale club bar, they got full quite quickly. There was a second Xhale club pool but this wasn’t near a bar to get drinks and it didn’t have the same Xhale club sun beds as the main pool making it rather uncomfortable. The food was quite hit and miss, some days it was to die for and others it was mediocre at best. The limited menus at the a la carte restaurants were the same the whole week we stayed, only changing per session. E.g. lunch was the same all week, dinner was the same all week. We found that the Strip Grill was the best restaurant, but as above, it was hit and miss at times. One specific time I asked for a steak rare and it came cold which was disappointing as I had the same thing the day before and it was perfect, rare but warm all the way through. The hotel website claims that there are 11 restaurants to choose from and whilst that is true, only a select few are open at any one time. The room was a bit of a let down. For a 5* hotel you would expect luxury, for the most part the room had everything you needed, a bed, a safe, a bathroom etc. however there was a common theme of the small details being missed. We found the taps in the bathroom, both sink and shower were in need of replacing, the vanity mirror was hanging off the wall, there was a crack in the sink basin, there were exposed wires hanging over the bed, there was dust in places that were visible to the eye such as on the head board that shouldn’t have been missed, the furniture on the balcony was in need of tlc. We probably wouldn’t come back to Breathless but glad we tried it at least once.…
