My wife and I were there just before they closed for remodeling. They say they will be back open in 30-60 days ... so perhaps some time in late Nov or early Dec. The accommodations were great the pools were great and the beach warm and full of sand bars. The staff was gracious and welcoming. The only negative was the food. It was OK, but at a property as such, one would expect more. I am going to chalk it up to the pending renovation and trying to reduce food inventory. I will be back once they reopen and give it one more try.

What it’s like this hotel during August month? What to expect: calmness, quietness and relaxation. Do note that during these months you’ll find sargassum which is a little bothersome algae in the beach, but totally safe and natural. Some rains very spot may occur but there’s always gonna be sun. This hotel is somewhat secluded from the others which makes it a perfect quiet getaway if you are looking for that. Children are welcome but know there are limited activities for them. Since you’ll be a little bit away from main civilization, you’ll know you have to stick mostly with what’s close by: few restaurants but all of them good (not great, just good) few shopping and few sports (though you can do some). It doesn’t mean you can either rent a vehicle or ask for a taxi (which are a little expensive). Breakfast is buffet and has local and more international options, a little for everyone. What not to expect: party vibe, night activities. Rooms are cosy but don’t expect amenities such as internet TV, bathtub or similars. Just what you need nothing else. Most rooms will have direct view to the ocean some will be blocked by a tree or only visible from a side. In summary: I went to have a getaway experience and that’s what I got. Loved it. Do not miss: the ecological reserve close by, it’s free and totally worth it!

Room Tip: Avoid morning or late beach swims during sargassum season, it can be little difficult.

My wife and I brought our two teenage daughters to the Westin for our family vacation. We had the best time. While we enjoyed so many aspects of our getaway here, we first wish to acknowledge the wonderful staff members: Christien-Sous Chef & Luis- Server at the Anani Restaurant, Esperanza- Activity Desk, Estela- Room Attendant, Jonathan - Yoga Instructor, and Miguel, Tomas & Franklin- Front Desk and drivers (and many more!). Their kindness, professionalism, and attentiveness enhanced our stay. Thank you so much! We will remember you all for a long time to come. Additionally, we thoroughly enjoyed the restaurants, the serene beach, the spacious pools, our clean and well-appointed room, the gym (we worked out together every day), and the nearby ecological preserve (use their complimentary bicycles to get there!) The week of our trip happened to be a very quiet week so the resort felt extra tranquil and spacious. It's a lovely place to "be here now" with your family. P.S. Be sure to pack your patience. The pace of this resort is not as fast as what you are likely used to so lean into it and enjoy!

This post refers to the complimentary yoga that the hotel offers it’s guests. It’s lead by Jonathan of Well Travelled Om and it’s amazing. Classes are held over the water in a hut. Jonathan is a fantastic teacher- knowledgeable, kind and inspiring. They provide the mats and towels. Enjoy!

We got in on July 22. The hotel is very nice and clean. The beaches and the surrounding areas are beautiful. The breakfast buffet was average. The food was cold most of the time. The only good thing was the omelet. The prices are to high for the food and drinks. Being from the United States, I am use to refills on tea and soda. There were no refills at all. You even had to pay for water. Everyone that works there is looking for a tip. I do not have a problem with tipping since I travel all the time. I get fed up with them expecting a tip for doing their job. On our third day there, we got locked out of our room. We had three more days to go. This was my Dream Vacation. I was a little disappointed that there was no place to shop but the Blue Mall.

Pros: This is a beautiful resort. We were told it’s one of the best in Punta Cana and we can believe it. It’s not all inclusive, and that is why we decided to stay here. They clean the beach from seaweed and the water is breathtaking. The resort isn’t overly crowded. The staff is amazing, very friendly and eager to help/please. There is a lagoon in the resort area that I HIGHLY recommend visiting. It’s free and a shuttle can take you there every day before 3. We went twice. The first time it was a little crowded (not bad) the second time…we were the only ones there! Amazing! The hot tub is huge and warm at first but your body quickly adjusts to the temperature and it no longer feels like a “hot tub”. It’s nice though. The weather in July was beautiful! Not too hot at all! At about 5 I would sit out in the sun and dry off because it was cool in the shade. Cons: I have only one complaint and for me it’s a big deal. If you have dietary restrictions be very careful! I am vegan (whole food plant based) and I am taking a cancer medication that has serious side effects when I eat dairy or butter. At the breakfast buffet, I would ask if potatoes had butter and was told no. They clearly had butter. This happened several times at breakfast, lunch or dinner. One night I asked for pasta with tomato sauce (no butter), I was so sick all night I couldn’t sleep…the food had butter but I couldn’t taste it because of the tomato sauce. Other times (room service) I ordered pasta with olive oil but when it arrived, it had butter. I suspected, but it was confirmed when I became sick. Fortunately, I didn’t eat much. If you are vegan. Playa Blanca has rice and beans, and a veggie pizza that can be ordered without cheese. Breakfast you can have a salad with oil and vinegar and there are usually roasted veggies. The potatoes are suspect…sometimes they are fine, other times I suspect they have butter. Also, at the omelet station you can ask for a corn tortilla filled with veggies and you can add balsamic vinegar. They have smoothies that are more like juice, but very good. I asked for ice to add because they are served warm/fresh. None of the bread is vegan…be careful of the avocado toast! I packed my own bread and peanut butter…thank heavens! I had a peanut butter and jelly on excursions and as needed as a meal replacement. Also, mushrooms are hard to come by. One of the restaurants has a veggie burger with roasted veggies and portobello mushrooms…no mushrooms. Also, the bread is suspect and may contain dairy. Overall the stay was amazing! I was disappointed by the food choices because they advertise vegan friendly. You just have to be creative and careful (if you’re vegan or lactose intolerant). The hotel and resort were amazing and I highly recommend!

A lovely hotel and stay. Beach is wonderful and pool is relaxing. Every room had a view. Restaurant food was quite good on property and there's a complementary shuttle to take to other restaurants within the Punta Cana resort. The rooms are spacious, beds comfy and staff was very helpful.

Comfy beds, roomy and clean rooms, excellent service and quick beach access are the highlights of our stay. It was not the same luxury as a Westin you get in the states but absolutely zero complaints from us. Beware taxis are $20 for a 5 minute drive so that stings a little, but quick, safe and easy. I would arrange a private transfer if taxis make you nervous, but we felt entirely safe. Yorka with the concierge went above and beyond as did our bartenders (Darrion was THE best) and even the shuttle that took us to our restaurants ended up being so wonderful; such warm and friendly people. We were blown away. Beach itself is gorgeous, but it has a ton of seaweed ( not sure if that’s all the time or just particular time of the year) but that was our only negative about the beach.

The resort is beautiful and very clean kept. Staff are welcoming and super happy all day. Moises and Juan were kept us supplied with drinks as well as anything we needed all week, answering any questions we had and tending to an ask we had. I reccomend this resort and the staff make it worth coming back.

This was our first vacation since Covid and it was a last minute plan. Why I gave 4 stars :- 1. Property was always very clean - rooms, common areas, restaurants, beach, pools, common washrooms, gardens. The outdoor space was very well maintained. 2. People were generally pleasant, friendly and courteous. And they definitely take and deserve a lion’s share in these stars. 3. Beach, view were really nice. Property was quiet and peaceful. Only time we realized presence of others guests was in restaurants. 4. I would have liked to give 3.5 but I can’t, hence 4 stars. Why did I cut 1 star. The experiences we had are not expected in general and not at all from properties like Westin: - 1. Despite calling a day before our flights/check in, despite Felipe having agreed to make arrangements we had to wait at the airport for about 40 minutes for the cab to take us to hotel. We had to call hotel and after some waiting our cab arrived. 2. The gentleman (Andriel) who checked us in was not pleasant, friendly or welcoming. His command of English improved when it suited him and decreased when it didn’t. He took close to 20, 25 minutes to check us in although there were no other guests. He got impatient and irritated when our Amex didn’t work and suggested something was wrong with the card (our card, pin was perfectly fine because we spoke with Amex Cust care after this). Our baggage was delayed and any questions we asked regarding that, he brushed them off. He didn’t give us any information about the property. He actually was borderline rude. When we asked in which direction our room was he gestured in general direction. As our luck would have it, he again was there at our check out. We wanted to pay our charges through a gift card. Andriel was extremely reluctant to give back the gift card and we later realised that’s because there was still some balance on it. Now we have been very generous with our tips throughout the stay and it’s not about money. It’s his attitude and sneakiness that’s completely unacceptable. 2. We found that very few people speak/understand decent enough English. (We don’t speak Spanish) Our food orders were misunderstood, discounts were not applied (despite 2, 3 reminders). However, in most cases we think it was because of language barriers and general lack of training / skills. They always apologized profusely and mistakes were righted. It certainly was a drag though. 3. Interactions with staff at Kite bar got increasingly frustrating and they definitely were because of their lackadaisical attitude and /or less than honest practices. 4. We got an introductory email about amenities at the resort the night before our checkout. We got another email detailing all the facilities/events on the property after we reached home - about 18-20 hours after the checkout. I mean why? How? 5. Food was one of the most underwhelming experiences. So much so that, on return flight airline food tasted good. Breakfast buffet was below average with a big exception of omelettes. 6. Our visit to La Yolla restaurant was a disaster. The premises of that restaurant were stinking to high heavens - it was possibly dead / drying fish, seaweed. Restaurant itself was really average with pretentious server James who kept forcing us to write a trip advisor review right there. Food again was quite bad. View was nothing to write home to about. If you value your money and time, avoid this restaurant. I definitely do not recommend this property.
