Not a 5-star experience whatsoever. I recently stayed here at "The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana" for 8 days, 7 nights for a wedding that brought over 80 guests to the resort (40+ rooms). If you're interested in a beachfront resort experience, the Reserve is not what you're looking for. The Reserve is down the road from the main resort and requires you take a golf cart over every single time you'd like to go to the main resort or beach. I had a Deluxe Master Suite. The room was large and had amenities like a hot tub and dual showers, but all very outdated. Old furniture and rusty coat hangars, pipes. We had constant problems. My room was not available at the promised 3pm. Our safe was broken. Food was a 5/10, many restaurants were also inexplicably closed. The hibachi chef handed me a hot plate that left a large burn scar on my arm. At 11pm day one, we discovered our mattress was completely soaked underneath. Room service covered the wet spots with dry sheets. It took over an hour to resolve. Next night, our toilet didn't work. We called at 11pm and it was resolved at about 12, or so I thought. The next morning, we had booked a $180 excursion for snorkeling on a party boat and we were set to leave at 8:45am. My girlfriend woke up very sick at about 6:45am only to discover the toilet was broken. I called reception at 7am. At 8am, I called again. At 9am, after we had missed our plans, I called again. By the way, my girlfriend was forced to use the main lobby bathroom because of this delay. Talk about a luxurious experience. A person finally arrived past 10am and it was resolved by noon. Next day, we returned to the room to discover half the room was covered in water and my girlfriend's luggage drenched. Some leak somewhere near the window. Our concierge set us up with a new room, which had a working toilet and was dry. But most of the sinks and one shower was missing hot water. We complained to Reception Manager and Hotel Assistance Manager, Jose and Edward, who offered us an upgrade on future stay. That's essentially it. No reimbursement for all the troubles or for the missed excursion due to hotel shortcomings. Not a great customer service whatsoever. I spoke to multiple people who all claimed that they had to discuss with a different manager. They just jerked me around until it was time for me to leave. Absolutely horrid experience, would not recommend to anyone.…
Don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to share what an amazing experience we had with the assistance from our concierge Pablo! He helped craft the best experience possible for our family! He helped solve a few issues that were personal to us with class, speed, and thoughtfulness. I would recommend The Reserve and Pablo to any couple or family if you can do it! Thank you again.
From sitting poolside with Pedro and Wanda hooking up the towels and excellent drinks to our concierge Nicolas who was incredibly helpful and thoughtful we had the best vacation! The many pools and beautiful beachfront were so relaxing.
Wanda and martin are the best! Martin Had our beach spot set up everyday and Wanda always had great drinks! Ruby at the Gabi Beach bar was super every night! Simeon was great getting our dinners set up! Enjoy a great trip business and personal!
Very kind staff and always willing to help. Arisleida Valdez and Joel Perez who work at the Gabi Beach Bar, for example, treated us like friends and family....even taught me some Spanish too. My wife and I have been here 5 times now. The resort changed some over the past two years....partially because of COVID maybe...The adults area and the family locations of the Reserve flipped. So, this time we were much closer to the beach. But, we still liked visiting both areas. I did not use it, but I hear that the Melia app is very helpful in sorting out the somewhat confusing details. It requires your booking confirmation but gave us an error...and I didnt feel like messing with tech problems while laying on a beach. We did discover that Pallazo for lunch is very nice (baked salmon, chimmichurri (sp) steak, Tuna steak....) if you want to get away from the Naos restaurant (which is also good) where a lot of people go for lunch. The Hydro Grill at the Reserve family section is also a good option. They do push a little bit on time shares....but not too bad. Our concierge talked to us once about it, insisted and offered a free massage at the Spa, but then accepted that we didn't want to sit through a free breakfast (at an all inclusive resort...haha) for 45 minutes (which is never just 45 minutes based on a previous experience.) He was doing his job and was respectful of our decision and not pushy....which was nice. We plan to come back! :)…
We spent a wonderful March break at Paradisus Palma Real. Getting the lay of the land was a bit confusing at first, given the sheer size of the resort, and the number of properties within, but we figured it out after a day or so, and after that it was smooth sailing! We want to give special recognition to Elbim and Hansel, who were working at the Reserve beach during our stay. These two hard-working gentlemen went beyond our expectations to ensure we were always take care of, and went a long way in making our vacation so special!
Travellled to The Reserve with my son for 5 days in March. There was some good and bad. First , checking in took forever. Checkin is at 3pm and the room was not ready until almost 4:30. I reserved a One Bedroom swim up suite with two beds. Once we checked in to the room they told us that there are no two bed options in this level of room. My son had to sleep on an awful pull out sofa bed. They put old couch pillows under the paper thin mattress. DO NOT expect two beds in this room. Thes are the nicest rooms in the resort so don't change rooms. Now for the good. The rooms are very large and generally pretty clean. Swim up room has direct access to a quiet winding river pool, two nice wicker chaises, and a big covered bed. The outside area was the best part of the room. Shower was great, but rooms could probably use a little refresh. King bed was fine, and AC worked well. No real complaints. Housekeeping usually comes at about 3pm. The grounds are really beautiful and well maintained. Pools are clean and well cared for. Beach is pretty too, but pretty far from The Reserve. You can walk or take the frequent golf carts. Never had a problem getting a mornig spot at the Reserve area at the beach. Water was nice and beach was clean. Now some of the Bad. The food is pretty awful. There were meals that are inedible. Buffet is the safest bet. I had a hard time getting past the AWFUL food. Restaurant reservations are hard to get, and honestly not worth getting. Our Butler got us some reservations. He was helpful and reachable via WhatsAp. I would have given the resort a 5 Star review if the food was edible. The service is also slow and a little indifferent. Everything takes forever. Best was to get drinks is to get them yourself. I would definitely come back if the food was better. Weather was great, hotel was clean and in good condtion. Don't come here if you don't like to walk. Everything is spread out. If you don't like being around drunk college kids stick to The Reserve. Also, when you sit on the beach there are constant vendors selling crap nobody needs. It actually get annoying after a while.…
Maybe the worst Paradisus. First, we are Club Melia members for 10 years. We booked the presidential suite. See pics below. 1. No greeting at the hotel, no champagne, no tour or the property. Nothing. 2. Food may be the worst I’ve ever had. Literally, not eating anything may be the better option. Brisas was absolutely disgusting. 3. At the Reserve section (as we are), there is no beachside service. For two days I’ve had to find towels and set ourselves up on the beach. 4. We have had to hunt for change. Yes, we like to tip the staff but reception never has change. They always say “come back after 5pm”. What kind of property with hundreds of guests doesn’t have change? 5. The staff is incredibly lazy and they are bordering on condescending to their guests. This may be a product of the culture of the Dominican people so most of this review is based on the quality, or lack thereof, of the staff. Inefficient, lazy and unwilling to accommodate simple requests. 6. A few bright spots, Zenovia was a great concierge and she herself was embarrassed at the way we have been treated. Jonathan at Gabi Beach was the ONLY friendly server who was actually appreciative of our tips. He makes a great Aperol Spritz. 7. We will not be entertaining the upgrade to Circle at this resort. Our home resort Playa del Carmen La Perla is so much better. Hence, we will not be returning here to the DR. In fact, I’ve never looked forward to leaving a resort…until now. 8. Finally, see pics of the jacuzzi in the presidential suite, leaves, trash, water rings all in the jacuzzi.…
It’s a great looking hotel with a luxurious lobby area, a lot of opportunities to do, great food, wonderful beach and a great staff, especially Delgis Castillo, who helped us a great deal, gave us all the necessary information and made us feel like at home.
So my wife and I booked this based on the pictures and the ease of getting to the DR. Upon arrival we realized that it was far less glamorous than the pictures on the site. They attempt to make you feel special by escorting you to a “special” check in area…. We should have ran for the hills. First our room was not what we booked, it was a make Believe version of what they say a panoramic suite is on the site…… After going back to the “special” area, they moved us one room over, which was better but it took 6 hours. The food…… DISGUSTING x 100000, every person we met on the resort said they were living off potato chips. Alcohol options - HORRIBLE - unless you buy a bottle, even then they charge you an outrageous amount for the bottle and it takes forever to get one. They refuse to make change, they refuse to do anything quickly, honestly it is the absolute worst waste of money that I have ever experienced….. 1 week of misery. Luckily there were a few bartenders that went above and beyond, Ruby, Alfonso, Miguel, Illesete and Yiri were the only people that actually put effort into making our stay fun….. Our concierge was a good person, but, even he only can do so much. My advice - go anywhere else, literally anywhere, this place is garbage.…
