We got a vacation package to Punta Cana through Air Transat Vacations from July 28- Aug. 7 and it is a total disappointment. I came here with my 14 year daughter and a friend and her 2 daughters. The resort was advertised as 4 stars but it's more 2 stars. It's deteriorated, filthy and overbooked on weekends with locals. We were turned down for food at 2 restoraunts due to lack of food. We contacted our local air transat agent who was very pleasant and tried to help us but the office asked for a lot of extra money to transfer us to a different resort. This resort was $100 less per person when we were booking from Canada but Air Transat was more interested in making more money then helping us. Since the moment we arrived nothing was ok. First nobody would help us with our baggage and we had to carry it all across resort to the 3rd floor. When we entered our rooms they were filthy and toilets were out of order. They changed our room at 11pm because they said they were too busy to accomodate us. The next day (Friday) a lot of locals came to the resort, way more people that the resort can handle. They told us at 2 different restaurants that they can't serve us food because they don't have enough staff to handle everybody. They accepted more locals after that but they would not serve us. Nobody speaks English at the hotel and they don't want to help us out if we don't speak Spanish. Both Fridays and Saturdays nights they were private parties in our complex until 5am, people were slamming doors and yelling and we had nobody to complain to. We had no way of reaching receptions since phones in our rooms are not connected, they have no cable at all. Cleaning lady never came to clean my friends room on few occasions and when we asked the manager what happened he just laughed and said oh well, they forgot! My 14 year old daughter was served alcohol in her straberry daquiry and she got sick that night. They have twisted pictures of tourists from Canada and USA that we are filthy rich and they can trick us into taking our money. There are barely tourists from other countries, 90% were locals. All that is fine but then stop advertising outside of Dominican Republic as we don't feel welcome at this hotel in Dominican Republic. Air Transat shoud not be affiliated with such hotels, I got my vacation package because I trusted Air Transat and your judment for choosing hotels you affiliate with. Never have I been this disappointed with a company that I trusted so much when choosing my vacations for the past 20+ years. I expected to be transfered to a better hotel and that could not be done because once again locals had advantage over us plus we needed to pay over $700 per family for new accomodation. Pools were dirty all the time, ocean and beach were full of sea weed so we had nowhere to swim. Toilets and sinks in our rooms were plugged and one night water was shut of for 4 hours because the hotel had more people than it could handle. I wrote a complaint letter to Air Transat while still in the hotel and nobody evet got back to me.…
Be aware is more like it! This hotel is in need of some serious renovations, and the surrounding neighborhood is sketchy as heck! We made the mistake of trying Be-Live resort in Punta Cana as a graduation gift for our daughter. Upon arrival into the libby we knew this resort was not for our family. The decor was old and dated. The wood ceiling and walls were warped. We stood in line for almost an hour to check in. Once we got to our room we immediately went back to the front desk to request a room change. The room had mold in the showers stains on the bathroom counters and was just old! There were no rooms available to change into the first day so we suffered through it (wearing our flip flops in the shower as a safety precaution). We received a new room on the next day which was nicer than the first one, but whenever we opened a door or drawer mosquitoes flew out! I mean there was an unusually large amount of mosquitoes flying around the room! My husband spent hours trying to kill them with little success. Needless to say, we were bitten from head to toe by the next day. We went back to the front desk and met with guest services to request yet another room change. After several hours we were provided with a third room that was satisfactory. We attempted to celebrate by going for a swim in the ocean only to learn that it was brown and filled with seaweed! The smell was disgusting! We ended up swimming in the pools on the property instead. We did enjoy the shows at night and took advantage of a few excursions (ATV was kind of fun despite the constant requests from the locals for money). The food was good and the sun was beautiful. My suggestion is for the resort to renovate a few buildings at a time. Until the property is fully redone. Also, vacationing with the locals that were allowed to stay at the property made it even more interesting.…
Would not book this hotel again. All 3 rooms in our group didn't have warm water for showers. Resort was run down and needs some/ a lot of TLC. Not a lot of resort activities during day for fun. Food was mediocre at best. It's incredibly difficult to get a glass of water during meals unless you go to a bar and get it yourself. Pictures make water look like true Caribbean turquoise waters but that is not the case at all. Staff even said the water in Punta Cana doesn't get that color ever. As far as Punta Cana itself, wouldn't return again. The moment you land until you leave people are trying to take advantage of you and screw you over on prices. Travelled extensively and never experienced anything that bad anywhere. If you are white and say you have no money they didn't believe you and said they know you've got money and need to "bless them." Everyone expects a tip, more so than similar destinations. Not the paradise people play it up to be. Had a better time, food, views and more fun in Mexico all inclusives. We did do the Scape Park and Blue Lagoon excursions which were great.…
PROS: The people and staff are nice and friendly. CONS Be Live Is not a 5 star hotel, it's lucky to be a3 star hotel. The food is bland and all the meats are dry and over cooked. The rooms are nice but most of them are broken. They moved us to 4 rooms and each one had problem because maintenance dosen't check or fix rooms. Service is poor. You can't swim 9in the ocean because there is too much seaweed in the water.which the hotel won't tell you when you book.
We arrived for a two week stay. We arrived late and were told we were ‘ungraded’. Arrived at our room. Filthy dirty and shower hanging off the wall. On top of this the room was nothing like the advertised room. We made our complaints known to Robinson owns were given another room that, other than the shower issue, was equally as awful and unclean. We went back the next day to complain and we kept getting told to come back. This went onto the next day when we went down to reception and refused to leave till we had a clean room that looked like what was advertise. This started what can only be describe as a horror of a three hours. Robinson was back and we ended up spending the 3 hours going into 6 different rooms. All of which has issues. Including, first room no AC or fan working, equally as dirty and the tip of the iceberg being given a key opening the door to find people in there. Major security issue! We were eventually given a room that was better but not what was advertised and still unclean( the photos below are from our final room we settled in as we could not bare to move again). Over the next week we had other issues including, no water in the shower, power cut, TV signal gone for 3 days, no cleaning of the room, key cards stopped working 10 times, queuing an hour and a half to book al catre to be told places were all booked 3 days in advance. The major issue with this hotel is the management. The place is poorly run. I might add the massive difference in adults only to not adults only. Non adults early is a 3 star at a push. Adults only is better and you are treated better over there. It’s sad as the Dominican Republic has a lot to offer however I left feeling glad to be going home. The only man who was brilliant was Maximo!…
This review is honest and sincere. I came here to celebrate a bday with my friend. Booked this place with an agent expecting 5 star accommodations. 1.) No reservation when we got there. 2.) The room had visible mold in it. 3) Moved to a room with no AC! 5 calls to the desk w no result. 4.) Mini bar had two sodas, water and a beer!?. 5). The gym was like a sauna, outdated, dirty, showers dirty, NO AC OR FAN in the place. So much for working out. 6. My agent tried to get us out but they wouldn't release the reservation. Nor respond to her emails or calls. 7. Broken fixtures, cracked walls with white paint to cover it up, missing doorstop in the bathroom, towels left on the floor (when I got into all three of my rooms!) 8.) NO WATER FOR OVER 4HOURS ON Saturday after my excursion. So much for a shower! Able to shower hours later. Bathtub, jets broken! I could go on..... The burger restaurant DIRTY!!! Food on floors, tables dirty. (The place was empty when I got there). Top shelf liquor is EXTRA! You pay for it. By no way am I a pain, But I had high expectations for what I paid. Boarded up stores, a casino that's only one room, a nightclub that was closed with a bicycle lock (I'm not kidding) was only open on SUNDAY NIGHT!? Now... the waitstaff and others FRIENDLY and attentive. The grounds on the adult side nice. The main buffet was nice and staff attentive (please tip them nicely:) however food needs to be kept warm. Friday nights the locals with families come and the place is packed out, super noisy! Ocean water due to algae, seaweed was brown! Rodrizio Brazlian Resturant was by far the best! The Michael Jackson show ok. We made the best of it. I have no axe to grind here. I'm honestly posting my experience in the hopes management will give travelers what they pay for which is THE BEST!…
The quality of employee training and temper are not very good, and a large part of the employees are not polite I've stayed in a lot of hotels in this place, and the hotel staff here is the worst, and everyone's lazy attitude is a bit arrogant
I recently booked my clients at this resort from July 29th through August 5th. Upon arrival they were told they had been reserved a swim up room, but there was something wrong with that room so they were upgrading them. They upgraded them to a room with a broken toilet that three days later is still not fixed. On July 30th their water system was down. They refused to issue a refund for them to switch resorts. They have horrible communication I have been trying to reach the resort to get a different room and NO ONE IS ANSWERING. My clients have stated the food isn't great either. Needless to say none of us are happy at this point.
Our stay was not good at all. It’s started with our arrival. We came here to celebrate our honeymoon and we’ve send an email saying it was our honeymoon and asking if they could do something little for that. - they didn’t read the mail - Instead we entered a room who was disgusting. The toilet wasn’t even flushed, the mirror was gross, there were stains on our sheets, ect. The pictures online show a beautiful - new hotel, but in reality, the whole thing is just sad. Everywhere you look, something is broken or very old and nobody bothers to clean or fix it. Every day we had to write a message just to get clean towels and sheets. It’s mentioned that there are 7 restaurants where you can eat - but they don’t tell that you have to make reservations the morning before and to make a reservation, you have to wait at least 40min in the full sun in 30 degrees. After those 40min, they tell you that all the restaurant have been booked so you can’t go in that week anymore.. This is our last day and even tho they said they would give us a bottle of champagne and take care of the honeymoon- they didn’t and weren’t polite when we went to the reception. We will NEVER return here, ever. And we do NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to anyone unless you don’t care about hygiene and hospitality.…
Hotel needs some work. Overall we had a good experience but only because our butler went above and beyond. The excursions we booked were fun. Avoid the horse back riding, it’s sad honestly. Food is poor and cabanas need to be repaired. Hotel is 3 star, not 5.
