Nestled near the ocean, Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda All Inclusive receives accolades for its prime location and proximity to the beach. While the atmosphere is a blend of modernity with well-decorated rooms, the pervasive loud music has been a point of contention for guests seeking tranquility. The amenities, including quality restaurants and pristine pools, draw positive attention, though some visitors have noted room service could be hit or miss.
The cleanliness of the hotel is generally upheld, yet some guests highlight sporadic lapses. Opinions on service, rooms, and value vary, with experiences ranging from exceptional to disappointing, particularly when noise intrusion impacts a restful night's sleep.

We chose building 90 so had the perfect location. Right in front of the activities pool, closest to the ocean and the restaurants in our section of the resort. I love all the activities…. Enjoyed the morning yoga/stretching at the beach in the morning and only did about 20min of water aerobics everyday (too repetitive) so I’d go on the shallow side and do my own thing to get a full body workout
I would of particited to some the activities but the language barrier was significant so stood on the side lines and cheered the others on
Attended the Spa and really enjoyed the massage
Even if we went to the concierge after we checked into our rooms, booking A la Carte wasn’t the best as there weren’t many spots left around 7pm, so we only did 5 A la Carte. We also felt rushed to order and eat because they probably needed us to be in and out within the hour time slot. I’m not sure what kind of cooking oil they us, but I had a hard time with my digestion during the entire stay and took another 5 days for my stomach to be ok after coming home
We ended our evenings after diner at the lobby bar as Kevin and Joe Hamel were so much fun and entertaining and built beautiful drinks
Lastly, the biggest annoyance for us was there no designated smoking areas, so we had to step away from our chairs when people beside us would light up. We attempted moving chairs but chairs are saved early in the morning with no one there till the sun went down at the beach. I think the smokers should of gotten up and going to the multiple ashtrays on the outside of the pool and beach area

We are currently at the Bahia principe resort, and on our second to last day. We booked for 11 nights with 5 of us, 3 children 9 and under.
Reading some of the reviews before we came I was slightly concerned, however I now believe some of these reviews are unnecessary and unfair especially on the staff here.
Every member of staff was friendly, welcoming and lovely. As soon as we arrived we were told we are ok vacation and not to lift the suitcase, we got a welcome drink on arrival and check in was quick and easy, our suitcases were sent to our room so I again do not know why people are saying they carried theirs up the stairs.
We emailed the hotel prior to coming to book restaurants, we visited Taino, Yurta, Garden Grill, Tequila, Greek. Taino and yurta are exceptional, the experience and the food for the price of the hotel was brilliant . It is not a high priced hotel so again I do not know what people are expecting. We have visited Mauritius before in a luxury hotel, there is no comparison because of the cost and this is a family resort, what people are expecting for their money is again beyond me.
The beach is beautiful, yes at times there’s a lot of sea weed this is due to global warming, not caused by the Caribbean area and I would recommend people have a little bit more sympathy with regards to this, it’s sad to see. If you research this more you will see the impact it has on the carribean area, the staff try to clear it but it does mount up everyday. It is not their fault more sea weed is coming in. The holiday rep also advised due to the hurricane it unfortunately caused more seaweed to come up to the shore. The sea has seaweed…. Who would have guessed!
The pools are great, lots of activities, we preferred the quieter pool, to be honest it’s summer holidays and it’s quiet around there! Our kids love playing on a float and also enjoy the water park again which is quiet even for July!
The rooms are well cleaned, I would say in some areas it does need more attention the stair wells are not very clean, and some of the buffet areas need abit more attention to detail but I am picking as I myself like things to be spotless!
All in all we’ve had a wonderful holiday at Bahia principe luxury Esmeralda, I can’t complain the price we paid was good for what we received food drink, weather facilities.
This is a five star hotel, because five star is based on the facilities on offer it does not mean it is a high started luxury resort. You are given stars based on what you have to offer at your hotel, and I’ve seen so many people question this, clearly not understanding what star rating means!
We would most definitely visit again, thank you to all the staff and management at luxury Esmeralda, we’ve had a relaxing, easy, fun holiday and with all of your help!! We hope we can visit again in the future!!!

Hi, stayed with Family this February for one week. Beautiful hotel, great location close to Ocean, amazing sand at the beach, not a single rock to step on, plenty of palapas and shade if you like. Plenty of beach and pool chairs. Some things to make note of.
1) Room had some broken things like wand on tub and drain plug that would not drain unless you hold it open. 2) Bathroom has a giant window in it with a blind on the outside so someone can just open it and watch you shower or change. Blinds should probably be on the inside of bathroom 3) Toilet plugs easily and no plunger in room (Have to call Concierge) 4) Shower Conditioner dispenser was off the wall and just resting on hardware of shower tap 5) Called concierge three times for extra blanket but nothing, had to go to front desk to get it resolved. 6) Lineups for most things but they move quickly 7) Very Comfortable beds and pillows 8) On the pool deck they have these marble tiled lines every few feet, I actually fell and hurt my knee and elbow falling because I slipped on these. Very Slippery floors in general in the resort so wear good grippy foot wear. (No I was not drunk) 9) Almost no English is spoken or understood except at front reception so brush up on your Spanish. 10) Buffets were good but it's the same thing every day after day so book the a la cart restaurants for variety. (These were a great highlight of the trip) 11) Plenty of pool and beach chairs but get up early if you want one in a good spot. 12) Awesome sand at the beach and ocean temp was warmer than pool. Not a single rock to step on. 13) very windy the whole time we were there, bring a small board to surf waves lots of fun 14) Lots of people trying to sell you stuff on beach, they are not aggressive though. 15) Really Nice Staff and mostly helpful but again no English at all. 16) If your in buildings by the Ocean 90 to 93 prepare for loud music till 11pm even with patio doors closed you will be feeling the beat. This is from Shows and entertainment. 17) Nice trolleys to get you around the resort from place to place. 18) Drinks poured by pool and beach bars were in general way to strong, I know they free pour but sometimes you just can't drink it. 19) Rained everyday but it usually passes quickly I still give this Hotel an 8 out of 10, just a few items of note.

Overall, it is a hotel with a pleasant space, the best thing about this hotel, in my opinion, is staying on the beach and the beach is really good. However, even though I know that I intend to return to Punta Cana, I would not stay at the Bahia again Prince. Cleanliness of the rooms was unsatisfactory, to change the bed sheets, which smelled really bad, we had to ask several times, the cleaning was never done, they just made the bed. They didn't change towels and they told us that they didn't have any more towels available, they didn't replace the water in the room, given that we are talking about a country where the water is not drinkable but we are always drinking water due to the heat... service unstable internet... But the worst thing, for me, was the fact that they are always trying to charge an extra service, to sell something, in the souvenir shops the prices are not set, and they set the price they want, they show their displeasure when we want to pay in their national currency, as they prefer dollars, they do not accept coins as a form of payment, they charge 15% more for card payments and the icing on the cake was taking photographs of people, and putting them printed on bottles, etc.. without our authorization is practically forcing us to buy. We took a trip to the very expensive Isla Saona, we were welcomed with food that even dogs wouldn't give... the food at the buffet is like turning the record over and playing the same thing. The remaining restaurants, which are made a big deal with bookings in advance and a lot of nonsense, were worthless and were far from the reality of what is supposed to be in those cuisines. They close the pools super early, they didn't take any care with the mosquitoes in the rooms, our AC didn't work... As I said, overall, it's nice because it's on the beach, it welcomes a lot of families but I wouldn't go back...

We booked this trip with family and friends based on the recent renovations and some excellent reviews. Although we had a nice time, this is NOT a five star resort and I feel it's important to give what I think to be an honest review for others to consider. (1) Check in - After transferring by trolley from another resort, it was relatively smooth. Buildings do not have elevators and are not accessible or easy (2) Rooms are renovated but the bathrooms are still not ideal and mold in showers. Cleaning staff was generally good for us but some people we travelled with did not have their rooms cleaned a couple of days. (3) Hallways are not updated - the floors and stairs are not cleaned well and we felt like we were in a low budget motel until we entered our rooms. The cleaning staff came at 8AM and spoke loudly before cleaning and woke us all up EVERY morning. They also kept the utility rooms open all day for all to see which was very unappealing. I have never seen that at any hotel and is not acceptable. (4) Pools were generally nice but not heated at all and quite cold. Given the heat this was not a big issue on this trip. The outdoor grounds and vegetation are well kept and very lovely. The resort is really nice at night (5) Restaurants - Buffets displayed almost the same food for all meals. Staff were extremely unhelpful and had to be asked 3-4 times for water, coffee and cutlery. This appeared to be a huge imposition to them and most of them unfortunately did not have enough command of English to provide basic requests and did not seem to really care. Speciality restaurant service and food likewise quite average. (6) Entertainment - Minimal (7) Service - More than anything this was the biggest concern. Language was a challenge but it was more the extremely abysmal attitude that was lacking. Too many staff really did not want to help and were bothered by basic requests. We had an experience at the front desk where we were hoping someone could help us with our reservations and the woman (I will email the resort her name) was combative and nasty and couldn't understand why we were bothering her. Someone else really tried to help which was appreciated but really made a big mess of things with the best of intentions. In summary, if you are looking for a 3 star experience with average food, accommodations and service, feel free to try this place out. Just keep your expectations low. Under no circumstances should you think this is a luxury or 5 star experience and make sure to pay accordingly

I am compelled to write this review after an extremely disappointing experience at the Bahia Principe Esmeralda, a stay marred by a series of unacceptable issues that were handled poorly by the management and staff. Our expectations of a comfortable and relaxing vacation were completely shattered, replaced by frustration and discomfort due to the conditions we faced.
First and foremost, our room was infested with bed bugs, a situation so severe that it left us with multiple bites and wounds. When we brought this to the attention of the management, expecting prompt action and concern for our well-being, we were met with a dismissive attitude. The lack of empathy and urgency in addressing such a serious health hazard is not only shocking but also unacceptable for a resort of your reputed standard.
Adding insult to injury, our requests for basic amenities such as fresh linens were blatantly ignored. In an environment where cleanliness should be paramount, this disregard for guest comfort and hygiene is appalling. Furthermore, our request for laundry services was flatly denied without explanation, further inconveniencing us and detracting from our experience at your resort.
It is disheartening to see such a lack of care and service at Bahia Principe Esmeralda. We had come expecting a stay defined by luxury and attentive service, as promised by your brand. Instead, we encountered negligence, poor hygiene standards, and an overall lack of accountability from your staff and management.
I urge the corporate staff to take immediate action to address these issues. This experience not only reflects poorly on Bahia Principe Esmeralda but also on the entire brand. Future guests should not have to endure what we went through, and it is imperative that measures are taken to improve the standards of cleanliness, guest service, and overall management responsiveness.
Your guests deserve better. We deserve better. I look forward to seeing how Bahia Principe addresses these grave concerns, and I hope that no other guest experiences the level of neglect and discomfort that we did.

We had our wedding ceremony at Bahia Principe in Punta Cana. Our group of 60 people all stayed at Esmeralda. Everyone in our group had a great experience and were impressed and happy with our choice in resort.
The wedding celebration and all the perks that came with it were wonderful. The entertainment team did a great job keeping everyone as engaged and active as they could. The nightly shows were also must see!
We were very impressed with the renovated rooms, hallways and the reception. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean with good AC and water pressure. Our guests tried the room service and depending in the time of day and how busy the restaurants are, wait times varied from very quick to about 45 mins.
Our Guest Experience representative - Manuel Lopez (aka Manny) was absolutely amazing. He is fluent in English, continuously checked in on us, and helped us set up our a la carte dinners (as a group this was not easy). He was even able to squeeze us into last minute a la carte dinners at popular restaurants like Limbo and Yurta.
I also recommend getting a massage at the spa and trying the romantic dinner by the beach.

Overall a great experience. Esmeralda is definitely classier than the other Bahia resorts in Punta Cana. Everything looks well maintained. The beach has plenty of shade, very little seaweed( nothing like Mexico which has way too much), soft sand and blue, clear water. The lunch buffet by the beach was repetitive but had plenty of variety- the tacos and grilled meat and scallops were very good. The a la carte restaurants were interesting but just about okay, the best being Naan at Esmeralda and worst being Nikkei at the Aquamarine. The teppanyaki show at Mikado was extremely disappointing, although the food was delicious. The entertainment at the pool was mediocre. The live music by the lobby on most nights between 8-9pm was enjoyable and should have been given more time. The nightly shows from 9-11pm were very mediocre. The rooms are spacious with large bathrooms. Beds were made everyday. The staff in general is very hardworking and pleasant. There is a language barrier though. We noticed that that soap dispensers were not working in some public restrooms as well as some stalls had broken latches. This shows neglect as these could be easily repaired. At checkout we were told that we owed them 5USD for a Pina Colada we had ordered which we don’t understand why as we were never informed there would be an extra charge for it. They eventually took off the charge but be warned of these fake charges.

This resort deserves a 5 star rating but like any resort , they do have areas that can be improved upon. In general this resort far exceeded my expectations.
The good:
1. This resort has a tremendous lay-out, the Esmeralda is self contained and everything is close, this includes restaurants, the ocean and of course rooms. The resort is massive, but you don't need to venture to other areas if you don't wish to. 2. Service was top notch, a little spotty in buffet but in fairness, the buffet is very busy. Employees seem happy and go the extra mile, much better than many Mexico experiences. 3. Drinks - I'm not a mixed drink guy, mainly due to drinks being thrown together, however this place serves amazing drinks, they take the time to do it right. There are exceptions, especially around the pools but in general amazing mixed drinks....you have to try the signature drinks in the ala carte restaurants.... outstanding. 4. Beach is special, great swimming and beautiful soft sand, no stones or rocks. Beach is very busy for obvious reasons. 5. Pools - perfect temp and set-up. Pool bar service is well above average. 6. Birds, Somehow they have fixed the bird problem I have seen at many resorts, only pigeons flying around, no other annoying birds other than a couple black birds. 7. Grounds - beautiful and well maintained. 8. Maintenance - perfect, had a couple small issues and fixed promptly. 9. Check in - very efficient, staff well trained and accommodating. 10 Food - very good, buffet excellent and ala carte well above average. No complaints at all. 11. Gift shop - I'm mentioning this only because most gift shops are a rip-off. Many items here are reasonable, it's worth a trip to the village area where the other lobbies are located.
Requires improvement:
1. Noise - The entertainment venue is very close to rooms, if your in the 9400 building you will not sleep before 11. There is no reason to blast the music as loud as they do, not to mention club level volume for the kids music in the early evening. The guy who MC's screams at the top of his lungs, it is awful. This resort is well layed out and beautiful, but they missed the mark on this one. They need to reduce the volume level, this is easy to do and would help a little. 2. Pool deck cleanliness - pretty good but could be better, I noticed the same debris for a couple days in a row.
That's it, keep up the great work Esmeralda, I'll be back.

First of all, I must mention that I rarely write reviews, if ever. If I take the time to do it, it’s worth mentioning!!! We had a big crush on this hotel 🤩 firstly for ease and listening to the staff. Upon arrival, we are offered an upgrade in a swimming out suite in block 90 glued on the beach and pool. With children it is very convenient and the children loved swimming out while we emptied the suitcases and also in the late afternoon when we were all tired of the big sun. It was just magical to be able to cool off whenever we wanted. As for the buffet, I really enjoyed the disinfectant at the entrance. Since it is a buffet and there are many guests, it is good to know that everyone has their hands disinfected. The choices at the buffet were diverse and especially very good. I never eat desserts in life but I admit that I ate them every day... It was worthy that the best pastry in town 👌🏼 Big thank you to Emmanuel who works as a waiter in the buffet! Exceptional service, really nice, familiar with both parents and children... This is really the service we love to receive ❤️ me and my daughters we also thought he had the most beautiful eyes of the Dominican Republic 😆 mention also to the guest experience who always takes from us to know if everything is okay and if everything is to our liking, it made us feel really special. As for the places at the beach, there are always reasonable hours, same for the pool. My daughters loved being able to make ice cream with big punta cana too! I really recommend this hotel, it was a dream vacation, I will definitely come back 🥰
