Have just got back from this hotel , we were checked in very quickly , but it was late at night .we were given a room 94120 which was by the cleaning station , we had 6 hours of quiet per day , evening revellers coming home at 12pm-1am then cleaners starting at 6.30 am , dragging carts along the corridors, and shouting to each other. We foolishly didnt move rooms .the pool areas and gardens were lovely , the pool bars were slow but we were patient and didnt mind waiting the first week was busyer than the second . The buffets had lots of choices of food , but was all cold , they need much bigger burners to keep the food hot , my husband and I suffered with bad stomachs for 9 out of 14 days holiday , not improving when we got home for a couple of days . The alacarte restaurants were ok , but nothing special , they Al'so were more interested in pushing the bottles of wine they sell and in one restaurant , portofino we went given any all inclusive wine , the wine they were selling for 45 dollars we buy at home for 6 pounds , so big mark ups on low standard wines . This holiday was sold to us as 5* luxury , it is no more than 3* star I feel . The staff at the hotel are lovely , but we won be returning , I'm a foodie and was let down badly .The trips tou can book on the beach are very highly priced for what you get , we went horse riding , paid for 2hours , was probably riding for half of that .My hubby went fishing , eight men with four Lines out , who was going to pull the fish in ? Which by the way never showed , although we were guaranteed fish .…
We arrived April 22, and the start of the trip was nothing short of a nightmare. The checkin is an absolute gong show. Unorganized madness to be quite honest. The busses drop you off at the bahia principe Punta cana side, to which you then need to wait to get a shuttle service to the Esmeralda side with all of your bags. This took a long time. Check in needs to be smoother and they need to communicate with the guests when they arrive. We had no clue what was happening. Upon check in we asked for a room close to the pool as we had small children. We were then out in building 96, facing a road on the side of the resort. The room was dark and gloomy, the electrical did not work and the safe would not open and close. We had an amazing butler named Juan Who came to help us with absolutely everything we needed. Juan was incredible, and spoke great English which made communicating with him very easy. This room was terrible and we ended up requesting to be moved. We moved on the second day to building 93, near the quieter pool. FYI if you have babies or small kids this resort is LOUD, so probably not the best choice. The new room was better then the previous but let me tell you: -the rooms at this resort are dated and to be honest pretty disgusting. -I never took my shoes off while walking within our room -the showers and the bathrooms are gross, it looked like the showers had black mold -the bath was so disgusting my children never took a bath. The jets in the tub were filled with grime and dirt from what looked like years of buildup. -the beds were AWFUL and hard and my back is still hurting since returning home. -the rooms are extremely dated and in dire need of a makeover. However I will say we don’t usual travel To spend time in our rooms. Truthfully though coming back to the room in the late afternoon was disappointing with the state of the rooms, it certainly is nice to relax in an up to date modern style hotel room. The food was MEH, the Italian a la cart Bella Italia was a letdown. Food was cold and gross. I have never in my life been served pizza with so much cheese that it was ruined. The buffets were fine and lots of options, however food was never outstanding. The biggest disappointment was the coffee, it was NEVER hot, and trying to find a coffee around the resort was like pulling teeth. They had old cappuccino machines in random areas but the machines were broken half the time. Pools were great for the kids, however the pool bar staff were not great unless you tipped them huge. They didn’t want to make drinks for our kids some days, but when we handed them a $5 bill they were right on it. Rosie at the pool bar was amazing! I will say the pool swim up bars need a makeover the tile is falling off and it looks awful. I saw several people fall on the concrete by the pool near the far buffet at Esmeralda closest to fantasia. One lady fell so hard, due to the concrete raising in a section and it’s almost impossible to see. Over the week I saw almost 10 people fall and trip in the same spot. The resort needs to do something about this. Overall the stay was ok, but we would not return. The days were long, entertainment at Esmeralda was not good, pretty boring for our kids. The resort is very run down. You get what you pay for. Thanks to Juan and victor the butlers at the main lobby area for being so accommodating to our family, these guys are fantastic and deserve all the recognition they can get.…
We came here several years ago and loved our stay so much we decided to return. What a mistake! Positives: beautiful well kept grounds, staff in restaurants/ bars and maids very friendly and helpful. High chairs were readily available in restaurants/ buffet. We were provided with a mini crib. Negatives: -2.5 hour check in process in the lobby, this was after we completed online check in which was not awknowledged AT ALL. Absolutely brutal start to the trip. - there is not a quiet area in the entire complex. We requested a room change from our first room which was beside the pool with extremely loud music. No place for a baby. We were moved to a far out room. RIGHT beside the maid area/ Butler station and stairs on ground floor ... The noise day and night was a complete joke. At this point we had already changed rooms once after a 2.5 hour check in line and wanted to get going with our trip. Big mistake we should have requested a 3rd room. -food amazing presentation, tasted good. However it was cold every single time. - Concierge unreachable???? The phone was literally not answered. - Dated rooms. Filthy sticky blow dryer in the room. Rusted/ grease on the lamps. Robes left in the room with no tie(useless). No instructions in the room on how to use the safe or how to order room service. The doors slam closed. - chairs/ palapas are reserved with towels first thing in AM. However, I find this to be consistent at most resorts. Play the game or you don't get a spot. - Our Butler introduced himself on the second last day. He was nice, but where was he at the beginning of the trip? - Many of the newer a la cartes are 18+. Slightly frusterating, as this is not clear online until you go to book a la cartes. We go home tomorrow and we cannot wait. Thankful for the lovely staff and beautiful grounds for making our trip. …
Bienvenido the restaurant manager for the buffet was so amazing. From the moment we came he made us feel comfortable and at home. We always came back for the great customer service. He took his customer service to the next level! I would highly recommend coming here. Remember to tip the waiters and manager! They deserve it. Dominican people are so friendly and kind. Always a smile on their face.
We really enjoyed the food at this buffet. It’s classy and they always try to change the cuisine every night. I really appreciate the workers and I especially want to say Thankyou to Beinvenido Carlos, who always took his time to speak to my wife and I and always made us feel welcomed. He continued to show that same hospitality every day!
