We stayed from 8/4/2022-8/10/2022 and unfortunately was disappointed with a lot of things! To start with the highlights the staff was friendly and the grounds were clean. The pools and drinks were great! The Japanese and Mexican restaurant was the only places that had decent food with flavor. Everything else lacked any seasoning and not real Dominican food. The rooms were very outdated and the shower was weird with only a half glass piece with no door, so no privacy and water went everywhere. We got solicited by the amstar people trying to book excursions and on the beach always people walking trying to sell you something. Should have done our research because the water was disgusting! Brown and smelled horrible from the seaweed. Went the whole way there to spend the whole week on the pool and not once in the ocean.…
This is my experience from a large family group traveling together. We arrived around 3pm and as soon as you walk in, you feel like you are in paradise. The staff goes above and beyond to make your vacation unforgettable specially Franklyn R at the front desk providing an amazing service to the customer and someone you can see that goodness and honestly still exist!!
I stayed here from 08/03-08/09 and decided to elevate my vacation by booking "preferred club." My check-in experience was nice since we were able to go to an air conditioned lobby and didn't have to wait but were overwhelmed with options of upgrades and add-ons at the same time. We were tired from traveling and honestly just wanted to settle into our room and they kept trying to sign us up for a welcome lunch to check out a sister resort, a romantic dinner on the beach, a trip to the spa and when I said that we would think about it they said "well we need to book it now" so that was pretty annoying/overwhelming. Once we got settled in, it was nice to have a butler that we could contact with any special requests/needs but he didn't always respond which meant that a couple of our requests weren't fulfilled. I would definitely recommend going the preferred club route if you want to relax. The main pool would get really crowded so it was nice to relax at the adults only preferred club pool to enjoy some peace. The pool was definitely the highlight of our vacation, our servers there were amazing and definitely saved our trip from being a complete disappointment. The staff as a whole was amazing, very friendly and helpful and they make sure that you're having a great time. The room for preferred club was definitely underwhelming, it was very basic and small. The AC could've been a little colder, the beds were pretty small, there weren't that many outlets, the pillows were not comfortable and the doors were definitely not soundproof, you could hear anyone in a nearby range. The shower would get the entire bathroom completely wet due to the little 1/2 piece of glass that does nothing as a barrier. On the bright side, it was very clean and housekeeping would come almost twice a day. The food was mid. The buffet was definitely catered towards Americans which I wish wasn't the case. I had hoped for more variety. Most food lacked flavor and the best thing there were the 2 options they had as Dominican Food, which was just rice and beans. If you want to eat good, the Seaside Grill has much better choices for lunch/dinner. The Mexican, Italian and Hibachi places were all good. We also did the romantic dinner on the beach, of course we picked the windiest night but the dinner was very good and the experience was cute. With preferred club, you get a champagne breakfast which I was so excited for but it was sooooo underwhelming. We got 2 bowls of stale cereal with lukewarm milk, fruit, dry muffins, cups of yogurt a bottle of champagne, and coffee. The best part was the coffee. We ended up ordering room service after we ate the fruit. The breakfast room service was by far the best, besides that the room service is not good. Most of the time it was cold which meant the fries would be stale and the quesadillas would be hard. I will say that the grounds were very well-kept. The landscaping was always beautiful, the pools were always clean and so was everything else. The benefit to this resort is definitely the cleanliness. They did have a good variety of entertainment, they had a white party, a karaoke night, a beach party, etc. so the environment was fun. It was annoying to be on the beach and have people yelling trying to solicit you, they aren't able to cross a certain line to avoid them approaching you but they still yell to try to get your attention which makes it hard to relax. The seaweed in August is pretty bad but I knew that before coming. There's men who are cleaning the seaweed to try to make it better but it still prevented me from going in the water but like I said, I knew that before coming and obviously not the resort's fault. I would say overall, I would describe my experience as mid.…
We stayed at this resort 7/30-8/6 2022. The staff was very friendly and helpful although there was often a language barrier. The resort was very clean and our room was cleaned daily. Our room had 2 double beds which we shared with our 22 year old son. While the room was not large, who stays in the room other than to sleep anyway. The air conditioning worked great and have no complaints about the temp. The shower was amazing with 2 overhead rain faucets. I recommend upgrading to a preferred room which we did for a minimal expense. You will get your own concierge and check in where you do not wait in line. Our concierge, Carlos, was great and connected with us on Whats app and would send out the daily activities and seek us out daily to check in. You also get access to the preferred lounges and bars which has some higher end spirits such as Jack Daniels. The preferred rooms can also eat breakfast and lunch at the seaside grill restaurant with beach view. After eating the buffet the first morning we ate at the seaside the remaining days. Preferred also get orange towels which were always available and came in handy when claiming chairs for the day. The resort was often not stocked with the brown towels that non preferred get. This resort is like so many, you need to put your towels out early (bet. 7-8) to get the chairs in a location you want which is why being able to secure towels is important. The day time activities were disappointing. They have some like water aerobics but for the most they are lame. The pools are well kept and clean. We loved being near the swim up bar. While at the pool the staff continually comes around taking orders or you can just go to the bar yourself. The restaurants are all pretty good, we liked the hibachi and Mexican the best. The Italian was so so. The French was also very good. I do not recommend the steaks as I had 2 at 2 different restaurants and neither was very good. We did not eat at the seaside for dinner so can't give you a rec. The night time entertainment was very good. Most evenings there was music in the lobby area by the bar and singers. The casino opens at 8pm and has slots, roulette, black jack and poker. The disco opens at 10pm-2am and was entertaining. Shout out to DJ Ice as he would take requests and usually played them. The staff at the lobby bar was incredible, Clemente (bar tender) could not have been friendlier. Ariana and Fendelisa (waitresses) were amazing and loved chatting with them. Christian, bartender at pool bar was great and after a few days knew what I wanted before I asked. In the preferred lounge make sure you find Emilio because he was "Excellette". We booked our transfers through the resort which was through Amstar and that was a great experience. We did one excursion which we booked through Seapro right on the beach. It included snorkeling and a "booze cruise". Loved it and would recommend. Something to keep in mind is the staff seems to work 12 days in a row then 3 days off. Christian went on his 3 days off without me knowing and I really wanted to tip him well. Tips are not required and I usually wait to the last day to give a good tip to those deserving.…
The buffet was good and the staff treated us with respect. The restaurants were OK, some of the food was on the Buffet Menu. The waiters were good. For the activities, I would like to thank Racing and Little Big (Alex) for the quality of the entertainment they gave us. They were the best!! Gridel and Marcos from the bar, you guys also rock. The only thing I didn't like during my stay was the beach. The water had too much seaweed and the sellers kept coming to try and sell me stuff.
A friend and I just got back from 5 days there, I figured I would give my input since I read so many reviews before my trip. Property - Small but I liked that as everything was a short walk. Beautiful and very well maintained. Everything was clean. Staff - Amazing, always smiling, always willing to help with anything you needed. This includes luggage handlers, check in desk, bartenders, housekeeping and all restaurant staff. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the staff. I didn't interact much with the entertainment staff but they did try to get us to participate in activities. I did however see lots of people participating and having a blast. Rooms - We were in building 8, our room smelled a bit musty when we arrived but the the room was very clean. The bathrooms needed the most work, the showers had the half glass door which meant if you didn't almost fact the water to the wall while showering the whole bathroom would be soaked. The vanity area was very small so not much room to store your stuff, I can't imagine if there were more than 2 people in the room. Our toilet was not easy to flush, had to hold the handle down til it completely flushed, sometimes it didn't, had to have them come and take a look at it. The food - Breakfast- If you are not preferred then your only breakfast option (other than room service) is the buffet. Breakfast was very basic and not all that great to my surprise. Lunch-If you are not preferred there are only 2 options for lunch (again other than room service) the buffet, which wasn't to bad, you could actually get steak on the grill , huge plates of pasta. I think the buffet had the best choices at lunchtime. You could also go to the barefoot grill for lunch on the beach, that was hamburgers/hotdogs and fries. Not bad. Dinner - the a la carte restaurants were great, we went to Hibachi, French and Mexican. All were great, I highly recommend the spicy margaritas at the mexican restaurant. My friend also went to the Grill place (can't remember the name) and she said that it was great. Buffet dinner was just ok. For being in the Dominican Republic, I was surprised that a lot of the food lacked seasonings/flavor. They did have a big selection but pretty much the same every day. The Beach -I had done my research so I was aware of the seaweed issue. I was in Mexico last year in september and the seaweed was there but not as bad as it was here. Could be because it was a month later. I would not get in the water in DR with the way it looked, many people were dissapointed and actually quite mad but it is out of the hotels control so no reason to be mad, should have done your research. Would I go back? for the price that we paid, yes. For the price that some other people said they paid, I would not have been happy.…
We stayed for a week as preferred guests. The crowd is mostly older people and people with children, not a lot of young people. For us that was fine as we were there to relax. Emilio in the preferred adults only pool area was excellente!! Carlos the butler and Carlos Alfredo were also fantastic! Cassandra the bartender for the lobby and gazebo was so helpful and fun. The food was pretty average as far as all inclusive goes. We were looking forward to home cooked meals after the 6 days. I would go back.
After booking at this resort I did see some negative reviews so I was a little nervous upon arrival.. used Amstar from the airport which was quick and friendly, greeted with a smile and a drink upon arrival with check-in, really no issues with check-in, spoke with the timeshare rep for less than 10 minutes and we were taken to our rooms. Rooms are clean, somewhat dated but not enough for me to complain or move to preferred. We enjoyed dinner at all but the French restaurant while there and all were ok.. the seaweed at the beach was thick but they worked soo hard to clean it up, what REALLY makes this resort so wonderful are the staff!! Gridel and Jan were friendly, fun and kind, they danced with us, they laughed with us and really became family while we were there!!! Entertainment committee were always busy getting people involved and keeping the party fun.. I’d absolutely recommend this resort, it’s smaller than hard rock(where I usually stay) but more of a family also!! Thanks Dreams Palm Beach for a great vacation with my daughter!…
My family and I had an amazing time! All of the employees treated us great. Our favorite bartenders were Gridel and Jan, they not only poured drinks but made the entire bar laugh and have fun! There were multiple times a day where they had us laughing and dancing!
