Just back from the Luxury Ambar and have to say it is really everything the brochure says! Renovated in the last couple of years the Ambar is part of a large complex of Bahia hotels but being Adults only it is reasonably quiet and the bustle other other establishments does not intrude. The staff are excellent and greet everyone with eagerness and smiles. The food is well above average in the buffet restaurant with a choice that is staggering. Drinks are reasonable and although it’s locally produced it’s not too bad. The grounds, public areas, reception, rooms are kept immaculately. There will always be a gripe but these are points that can be worked on ......Mini bar ....no Gin ! Resupply of coffee/tea/milk is a bit hit and miss but just about works,Air Conditioning in rooms is effective but the control has no instructions which is a similar problem with the TV. The tour reps are good and willing to help at all times but the trips are a but expensive and there is a very heavy promotion towards supporting local producers and produce but the two we went on .....Saona and Outback were enjoyable. There is too much emphasis on getting trippers drunk on the Saona trip which took the edge off for us and could have had some safety implications. Overall a great holiday and one we can say we will definitely be back on ....this Bahia hotel has raised the bar !

Hotel's Favorite
We recently returned from a two week stay here , the hotel is lobby is a high standard and the rooms are spacious with everything you need , mini bar is refilled daily as part of the all inclusive. Our room were cleaned twice a day with fresh towels each time , Tatiana ( deputy manager ) was fantastic if you had any issues , she is hands on and will sort anything for you , the ground off the hotel are well kept and clean , the pool is large with swim up bar there is more than enough loungers , the beach was clean with plenty of space . The food in the hotel restuarants was of a high standard with loads of choice, I personally didn't rate the speciality restuarants buts that just me . I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful, anything to help make your holiday special , this is definitely the best hotel on the complex and adults only . Other than one small disappointment with a special request this really was a fantastic relaxing holiday , just what I imagined it would be !!!

Just checked in to the Gran Bahia Principe Ambar, and met the manager, Pablo. He made sure our room was perfect for us, can’t say enough about his professionalism. Watson took us to our room and made sure everything was great. This is what luxury is all about!

We booked Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar hotel on the off chance as never been to Dominican Republic before. We are so glad we made this choice and as a resort based holiday one cannot ask for more. Everyone is so helpful and friendly and cannot do enough for you. We were on our anniversary and given a corner room which is huge with a bath. Check in processes was efficient and done quickly. The main buffet provides a varied menu everyday and there are plenty of fish dishes. The gala night on Tuesday is amazing serving lobster, crab, prawn in addition to the various meat dishes. The all inclusive option included 24 hour room service which is a bonus rarely seen in most packages. We are most impressed with Pablo and Jordi (the management) they seem to be everywhere morning and night overseeing proceedings. One constructive suggestion though is internal transportation is a bit confusing, we can get a golf cart to any part of the resorts easily enough but trying to catch a cart coming back is an issue. we cant seem to catch from the same place where we were dropped off and the concierge in other hotels within the resort aren't quite so helpful with their info resulting in us wondering about trying to flag down any cart that comes around. All in all we had a fantastic holiday here in Ambar and sincerely thank Pablo and his staff for all their help and kindness we will return.

Just returned from a two week holiday at this hotel. On arrival we were given cool towels and a cold drink whilst they checked us in. The first room the took us to wasn’t made up, and the butler couldn’t have been more apologetic. After a five min wait he took us down the the same room but on the first floor. We had a corner room facing the hotel next door. The only real downside is that you don’t get any sun on the balcony. However, didn’t spend that much time in the balcony so wasn’t that much of an issue. The hotel was only about 50% full so I am sure that if we said we didn’t like the room they would have tried to find us one that we did like. There is plenty of storage space. You also get an iron and ironing board which seems to be more a tabletop board than a full sized board. There is a coffee machine in the room along with coffee filters. If you want tea you have to run the water through the coffee machine. If you need more coffee, whiteners or tea bags we just left a note for the maid, or you could ask the butler. Once booked in there is a app that you can use to book restaurants, see what activities are on, etc. However on Facebook there is a webpage which encourages you to send bookings for rooms or restaurants before you arrive. I have to admit I don’t agree with this and we didn’t, simply because I didn’t know what I wanted to eat and on what days and therefore we booked the restaurants when we got there and throughout the two weeks. It was a bit bit and miss whether we could get in at times we wanted to eat. If you don’t want to use the app there is a guest desk in the lobby where you could book the restaurants. We did the tapanyaki which whilst the food was fine, I have seem better cooking shows. Limbo will be a marmite restaurant, I liked the food it my husband didn’t. The night we went the service was a bit hit and miss, but created a bit of a floor show. meat was excellent as was portofino. We usually ate lunch at the beach restaurant which was nice. We spent most of the time around the pool where there are loads of beds and umbrellas. The waiters/waitresses will bring you drinks if you don’t want to go to the pool bar😀. The coffee shop was great and very popular. We did spend a day or so at the beach, but I did get a couple of bites from sandflies - outside the control of the hotel - however, a bloke used to come round and sweep the sand off the end of your sunbed, The managers are constantly walking round making sure things are right. They will also walk around the restaurants and make sure that you are enjoying your meal and there is nothing you need or want. If you do need anything they will try and accommodate any restaurant booking or resolve any issues. We didn’t attend any of the shows so can’t comment on any of the entertainment. The improvements they could consider, putting what the theme night is at the buffet restaurant. Milk jugs at breakfast to go with teapots you end up putting the milk in another cup to take back to the table, hand sanitizers at the two other entrances to the beach restaurant (using a hand sanitizer on entering a restaurant is encouraged - occasionally someone may slip past but on the whole everyone did use the sanitizer). It would also have been nice to have a smoke free outside seating area. However, the hotel lobby is a smoke free zone, so they have to sit somewhere, but occasionally on an evening it was cooler to sit outside than in the lobby and for us we don’t enjoy sitting in a smoky environment, These are minor points and the management should be proud of what they have achieved.
