Having the most amazing week ever at the Ambar all the staff are so so friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are having the best stay. A special mention to Desiree who is one of the most friendly and lovely people ever. And also to Jose for making our time so fun with all his enthusiasm and entertainment around the pool. They have definitely made this week a week to remember and I will never forget it!

My husband I had such a great time at this resort. The staff did whatever they can to make your stay enjoyable. I would like to thank especially Desiree the waitress at the main pool area, She was so friendly and attentive to our needs whenever we needed drinks. Also to the gentleman at the main buffet which I can’t remember his name , but he continues to call out coffee, coffee, happy happy. He was also very attentive to our needs and he also arranged a lovely decorated table for my husband’s birthday.

First, I want to truly commend the staff at the beach bar, the main buffet, and the room attendants. Gloria, Alexandria, Ramon, and NoNo were and remain memorable on our 2nd stay at Ambar. They are great assets to BP and I would truly LOVE to have them working on my team back here in Florida. We traveled with another couple and none of us were wanting for anything whenever these great folks were around. On the third night something happened that caused a terrible smell to come into our room (61-309). We told the morning housekeeper, she called in maintenance, they replaced a handheld shower and nothing more. When we explained that there was an odor of sewerage, literally, in the room, we were assured by both the butler service and the maintenance the issue would be resolved during the day. After a long day of beach fun we returned to the room for a shower and change before dinner to find the smell had become overwhelming. We informed our butler the issue was not resolved and he stated the issue would be settled within the hour. We then went to dinner and had drinks with friends afterward, returning to our room around 10:30 or 11:00pm to find no improvement. I began calling guest services and was put on several holds without being given an opportunity to describe our ongoing problem or request a room change. Finally, my husband went to the desk where no one was on the phone with me and three people were gathered talking. He had to get both loud and insistent before anyone would actually listen and pay attention to the issue. So, we changed rooms at midnight. There was no follow-up by guest services, hotel management, or anyone of the butler staff regarding this issue. We will not return to this property, but it is due to managerial malfeasance ... the staff and guests deserve better.

We’ve just returned from a brilliant week in Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar! Everything was great, we had very little to moan about! The hotel is on a large complex of other Bahia hotels - the Luxury Ambar definitely has a more modern feel with a great location and being adult friendly made the poolside and restaurants relaxing! The rooms were lovely - big and spacious and the maids did a great job everyday! We had a mini bar with water, beer, soft drinks, spirits and crisps - the maid was great at realising what we’d used and restocking a bit extra! We didn’t opt for the swimmup rooms - quite glad we didn’t pay the extra as some were in the shade all day and the pools weren’t private. The pool (although a little cool - but refreshing at peak sunshine) was brilliant - plenty of sun beds, parasols and the swim up pool bar was great! The pool area is right next to the beach so you have the best of both worlds from your sunbed. Beach is lovely and clean - sun beds are comfortable - couldn’t fault this space! Entertainment around the pool started at about 3pm each day and was fun to watch! You never felt obliged to join in which was nice and relaxing! Restaurants - we couldn’t fault the food - we recommend to check in before you arrive on their app so you have access to booking your dinner reservations in advance! Alternatively you can use the screens in reception to book! We had buffet breakfast and lunches most days - quite repetitive but so much choice meant you could always have something different - there’s a few buffet lunches to choose from including a snack place on the beach serving grilled meats, fish and burgers! We tried a few al a carte restaurants - all great quality and great looking restaurants! Hard to choose our favourite - Limbo was high quality food with a great environment, the Indian had a great setting looking over the beach with a lovely tasting menu and the Mexican was more relaxed but has brilliant fajitas! We also dined at Meat, the Dominican restautant (try the stewed goat!) and the Tepanaki which were equally great - the sports bar was perfect for evening snacks before late dinner reservations - the wings were so tasty (we heard lots of people mention how great the wings were during our stay!!) Drinks - there’s plenty of options - the pool bar during the day, lobby with entertainment at night and the sports bar along with other Bahia Lobby areas! Not forgetting one of my favourite places - the coffee shop! Fresh coffee and cake all day from 7am to 10pm (they’ll even add rum or baileys to your coffee!!) there’s a small shack on the beach selling fresh Pina Coladas & Coconuts (with pineapples!) these are $5 each but well worth it! Transport between hotel restaurants was easy with the hotels buggies- we hardly had to wait to be transported anywhere! All the staff in the entertainment, reception, bars, restaurants, maids and the gardeners were all very welcoming and happy! Everyone was helpful, smiley and said hola as you walked by! We did a couple of trips during our stay - Saona Island was a lovely day out and the adventure Buggies were great! There’s a stand in reception and by the pool area where you can book your trips - we wish we’d done the snorkelling trip that a guy walked round the pool selling as the saona island trip didn’t have any snorkelling areas!
