Omg!! Not a 5 star! Bed bugs! Staff sucks! Room service ( what room service) I took a shower ending up in a bath, the water wasn’t evacuating, and the smell after was disgusting! Will not recommend to anyone! Last year I went to riu bambu a 4 star and it was 5 times better!

Hotel's Favorite
We travelled in august with my mum and dad, husband and 3 year old son! This is the 4th time we have visited a Bahia Principe hotel- we have been to the sister hotel Esmeralda, Jamaica and Mexico! And my parents have stayed at the Ambar twice which is a sister hotel in Dominican Republic! Wow what an amazing holiday we just had - I honestly cannot understand any of the bad reviews- especially about the staff! The staff are friendly and accommodating and always ensured we had what we needed! We don’t speak Spanish at all but tried to learn a few words and the staff really appreciated the effort! The resort is really family friendly! The staff really made an effort with my little boy! There are even little steps in the toilets in the lobby to help your little ones to wash their hands! People leave there lilos and pool floats when they leave for others to use which really helped us! Check in Quick and easy- didn’t have to wait at all- were served by a lovely lady who was accommodating! The keys are in your wrist band- we were taken by the bell boys on the buggy to our room where none of our keys worked in the wrist band- we went back down to reception and this was sorted straight away! The keys in the wristband is a really good idea, not having to worry about a card key! Pool Very clean- we stayed in the quiet end of the pool but there is a noisier side if you want to be involved in the entertainment and games etc! We had to save beds each morning which wasn’t a problem as a couple of us are early risers anyway! Staff do go around collecting orders for drinks every so often or you can go in the castle to the bar- which is often quicker! There’s not a lot of shade in the pool at all so if you’ve got a child with fair skin make sure they are covered! Beach The beach is beautiful with soft sand but as it’s the Atlantic sea it is a bit more rough compared to the Caribbean Sea! The seaweed is a problem but they do clear it each day but they are fighting a loosing battle unfortunately! Can easily get a sun-bed later on the beach! There are market vendors on the beach which come by selling different things- if you don’t want anything just politely say no and they will move on! Food Buffet has a wide range of foods- lots are cooked fresh for you- burgers, hot dogs, pizza, pasta, meat, fish. There was lots of options but any buffet can get boring after a while but we always found stuff to eat! Only thing I would say is I feel like there should be allergies signposted- or allergy options, as a member of our party needed gluten free- but nothing was signposted. With the buffet we sat outside most lunches and dinners as we found it was less busy and received even better service getting drinks etc! Ala carte We had- modern cuisine, Japanese, Greek, Indian and oriental. We recommend all of these restaurants, the restaurants are really authentic and we had some really lovely food! It says that men need to wear long trousers but tailored shorts and smart clothes are fine. We booked these on the Bahia principe app before we arrived which worked well as they get booked up quickly! Due to having two rooms- it said about linking the bookings- but because we hadn’t arrived yet we couldn’t do this! It wasn’t a problem as when we got to the restaurant we just stated we wanted to sit together and this was accommodated. Entertainment Wow the evening entertainment was the best I have ever seen on a holiday! It was incredible! There is a short light show on the castle at 7.50pm to mark the start of the evening entertainment and then an hour of mini disco with different themes each night and then a truly professional show! We see the following- lion king, magic show, retro show, circus show, international show, Dominican show and they were all incredible! Then after the show there is a truly magical light show on the castle around 10pm! It is a must watch and we see it again and again most nights! The best light show I have ever seen! Then after that there is a singer etc in the lobby! The whole place is just magical- some mornings there would be jugglers in the way to breakfast- some nights there would be entertainers with disco ball heads dancing with you all- all come out of the blue as a surprise! Some of the entertainment repeats in the second week but it is so good it’s nice to watch it again! Rooms- we opted for a quiet, high level room and was in building 99 on the second floor- wasn’t noisy at all- we faced some trees etc! My mum and dads room had a problem with the aircon where water was running down into plug sockets etc! Did ask for this to be sorted a couple of times which wasn’t done but there is a ceiling fan so they used that which was sufficient! Rooms are spacious and very clean! Children get a little pack of shower gel, sponge, toothbrush etc in the room which was a lovely touch! Hairdryer is powerful in the bathroom so no need to take one! Mini bar filled up each day- nuts, drinks, milk etc! My little boy has milk morning and night and if I ever run out from the fridge I asked at the buffet restaurant and they gave me a big carton of milk which lasted us a few days! Tips Before arriving I read some reviews that if you don’t tip you don’t get served- which is ridiculous! We got the same service everywhere if we tipped or not! I also read reviews that they don’t serve you if your English- again a load of rubbish! We got served brilliantly everywhere! Gym The gym in Fantasia was better than a normal gym on a holiday resort but the only problem was the air con didn’t work! So we went to the other hotels on the complex gyms instead which was fine and the air con worked well! Wi-Fi Free Wi-Fi is available at most places across the resort- the only place we couldn’t get Wi-Fi was on the beach! You can have up to 5 devices per person on the Wi-Fi! All of the staff are really hardworking but Ricardo- the waitor and Yordy- who makes omelettes in the Larimar buffet and Ana in the Utopia bar they truly made our holiday! So so friendly, really happy to see us, and they are an asset to the hotel! Overall had an amazing magical holiday, my little boy just loved every second and so did we! Really hope this review has been helpful!

Just returned from this resort. There were 5 of us: myself, my boyfriend, and my 3 sons, ages 20, 10, and 8. I downloaded the BP app to do the express check-in. Don't waste your time as the check-in was just like any other check-in. We arrived at 3:05 pm. Hotel policy is check-in is at 3pm. We were told that our room would not be ready until 3:30pm. We checked in, got our room, and our bracelets that are used as room keys. They failed 3 times for all of us, resulting in multiple trips to the lobby to have them reset. Super annoying. The room was fine, nothing spectacular about it but we didn't take a vacation to spend time in our room so it wasn't a big deal. We did have a nice view of the castle, which was nice. We were in Villa #99. We didn't see the butler until the day before we left and then he asked for a tip...not cool. The staff was just blah. Not super friendly, just didn't seem thrilled to be there. Also, I made reservations for restaurants on the app. THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE. The buffet looks beautiful but don't be fooled, it's terrible. We ate at both brazilian restaurants, and the mexican restaurant. The brazilian (Rodizio and the other one) were at least edible since it was all meat but still not good. Again, presentation was great, taste, so so bad. Beach was nice, the kids loved it! No seaweed. The water was a little choppy the first couple of days but that was ok. Pool was very nice. Entertainment...bad. They didn't seem happy to be there and didn't bother learning their routines, just looked at the others for direction. No enthusiasm. The excursions were the best part. We did the Marinarium, Ziplines and Monkeyland. All were fantastic and really made the trip so much better. The resort is very big and you have to take trolleys to the beach. Not a big deal but I like to be able to walk to the beach. Kids Club was dumb. Teen club much better. The game room is a joke. Most games were broken and they cost $1 for each game. We might return to DR but will not return to this resort.

Thankfully we ignored the negative reviews of Bahia Principe Fantasia. First things first…this is an enormous resort. There are dozens of building clusters, each with separate (huge) swimming pools, water parks for kids…swim up bars, music and restaurants. This place is so clean, so well taken care of, with attentive staff everywhere to take care of what you need. The maintenance on the grounds alone is impressive. The beach area has its own pool, restaurant complex with a huge amount of seating. There are areas for kids and teens. There are area for adults only. Just a few feet from our room is the pool area—one area is a water park for small kids—the other is an enormous adult-sized pool—with its own pizzeria and slushy bar. There are so many negative comments…I really wonder what people expect. We can’t find a single thing to complain about. Some common complaints that are simply not true: —staff is inattentive. They are friendly and attentive—always. —Buffet lacks variety and food is tasteless. Truthfully, there are so many choices, it’s tuff to make up your mind. They do a nice job. Serving hundreds 3 times a day ain’t easy—they make a remarkable effort. —drinks are watered down. Tell that to the lady we helped out of the pool. The drinks may be small…but there’s no limit..and almost no waiting. As an owner of a business…I can appreciate the awesome amount of effort and organization it takes to so so many things so well. These folks try very hard. If you’re looking for a clean, vibrant, fun-filled, reasonably priced, family-oriented resort, we highly recommend this place. I really wonder how they can do so much so well.

We traveled as a family of 3. The only thing nice I can say is that the beach was clean and we enjoyed our time on the beach. Our daughter is 4 years old and we were excited about bringing her hereto enjoy the activities and amenities for kids. We HATED the food. This is the absolute worst vacation ever. The staff try to be nice, but they are not well trained and are completely clueless. Larimar Buffet: The first night I saw cockroaches crawling on another guest's high chair. I went over to her to let her know and she stepped on it. GROSS GROSS GROSS!!! The second night I saw more roaches crawling at the bottom of the bar at the entrance of the Larimar Buffet. In any other condition, I would have left but we had no choice as we were stuck with this vacation. The hot food is not hot. I'm pretty sure they bring out old food. I saw staff bringing out the food from the kitchen to place in the buffet area and I thought it would be hot, but it was all cold. We refused to eat cold food to help prevent us from getting sick. Nothing tasted good. Everything is bland. Even when we went to the staff that were grilling fresh meat, the food was flavorless and gross. We basically lived off of fruit, bread, and cheese. Even the pancakes and waffles were disgusting. All of the pastries are disgusting. I really don't know how anyone can enjoy the food here. The staff struggle to keep up a good flow of clean plates and cups available. I picked up several DIRTY plates and a server even brought dirty cup saucers to us. We asked for straws for all of our drinks and straws are not available at this resort, unless you order a special pineapple with a drink inside it. We also finally had a straw for our drinks at the Italian restaurant one night. The Gourmet Restaurant was good, the Italian was okay, and the Circus restaurant was okay. We didn't get a chance to visit the other restaurants. Staff: Confused, bored, and not interested. You must be patient because they do not really care to give service. We also had a difficult time trusting anyone. At every point, people just want to scam you. The bell boy ordered a taxi for us whom I'm sure was his friend. We needed a ride to the Bavaro Beach, which I read was 20 min away. The bell boy insisted we go to Macao and the friend took us there and it was a local beach that was dirty. We got scammed there to buy food from a menu that was overpriced. We ordered 2 fish and fries and they charged us over $100 because the weight of the fish was "apparently" 5 lbs and the price was $22/lb. They were not clear with us about this in advance.Total rip off. Reviews: The reviews are fake! I was asked by twice to write a review on the spot in front of the staff. My daughter enjoyed playing in the little toy castle beside the restaurant and the staff attendant asked me to open google on my phone and write a review. I told her that I will write a review for her later. Then she asked me to do it "right now beside me". I couldn't believe what I was hearing!! Who does this? Not me!! I didn't do it. Funny enough the next day, I saw other guests being asked by other staff who were dressed in costumes for "happiness day". Those guests were happy to do it and even announced "I'll write Luis is the best". If you are a well travelled person, who likes 5 star service and quality, this is not the place for you! The people agreeing to write these reviews have low standards and low value. At best, I can give this place a 1 star. My family was anxious to end our trip and just prayed that we would not get sick. Entertainment: All the pool side entertainment is incredibly lame! The evening entertainment is okay. Kids Club: Seemed clean and organized. We just took a look inside, but didn't use this amenity. I know that it is possible that we picked a bad hotel, but in general I believe DR is just not an ideal place to visit. I'll stick with Mexico and Jamaica for all inclusive and even Cuba (which also has terrible food, but better than DR).

Dear Guest, We would like to express our sincere apologies for the inconveniences you experienced. We regret that we did not fully meet your expectations, but rest assured that they are important to us. Regarding the insects, please allow us to inform you that due to the tropical climate and the lush vegetation surrounding our facilities and, taking into account that we are located in a protected mangrove area, the presence of certain species coming from outside cannot be avoided at all times; however, we do not have insect infestations in the resort. Nevertheless, since the well-being of our guests is our priority, we are very strict with sanitary measures. We also feel it is important to point out that we enforce insect and rodent control programs, through a strict fumigation program, which are carried out continuously. However, we deeply regret the unfortunate incident you experienced in this matter. Always at your disposal, Online Reputation Bahia Principe Bavaro Resort

I stayed at Fantasia for 4 nights with my family. We are a LGBTQ couple, and I am happy to say that we felt completely welcomed and did not experience any discrimination (which can happen in traditional countries) People worth mentioning: - Kervin (Signed me up for the festival & made sure I had the best time by the pool) - Ramon (Provided amazing service) - Eury (Amazing server & the best cappuccinos) - Dinorah (Our poolside server, she was incredible!) - Jose, Pedro & Juan (My favs at the poolside bar!) Pros: - The (Staff) hands down is what truly makes this place a complete GEM. - The buffet food was warm, and the menu changed daily. - There were plenty of events to keep us busy and entertained. (Pool parties & shows) - The property is immaculate and was being maintained daily - Housekeeping was on point! - Room service was extremely swift under 30 min. each time - Played all my favorite bachata's (haha) Cons: - No ATM on the Fantasia property (You can take a quick ride to the main hotel) - The beds are hard! (My back isn't 20 years old anymore) lol. - The hibachi & Asian food was completely booked - The Italian restaurant took 1 hour to serve me my food :( - A lot of excursion upselling In summary, I would be back. Hopefully the beds are a little softer next time :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Espanol: No quedamos en Fantasia por 4 dias.

After 6 trips to Royalton/Grand Memories Punta Cana, we decided on Fantasia this year. Fancy properties, Very clean and well maintained. The front desk served well with no complaints, special mention to Sr's Ignacio, Andres, Gavlin handled our checks ( in /out ) professionally and very customer oriented. Buffet was well served with helpful servers , few of them were very good going out of their way to assist . Sr. Darlin( Jose) from the Le Gourmet manages the restaurant extremely well and the food was very well catered ( tasty with flavor ) Choice of Lamb is as good as anywhere around North America. At the Golden Circus, Senora Maria made the occasion also pleasant with good prompt service. Both of them deserve special mention. One complain we heard often was that the room service/cleaning crew spoke no English/French and guests were unable to communicate effectively. Sr. Fermin ( if memory is correct ) from the beverages section is very fluent and helpful all the time even for translation. Poolside crew were always helpful when needed. All week we were unable to obtain Kleenex tissues for the rooms and also unable to purchase at the stores around the hotel With Colds and Covid still around , tissues are handy. All in all with the daily entertainment ( poolside, night time and shows ), experience was good. ( 7 to 8/10 ) Muchos Gracias...Bounas Dias

On the other hand, we apologize for the impression you may perceive because of the language barrier with some of our staff members. Out of 10, I'd give the resort a 7. It's clean, lush and has everything you need. Beach is approx. 5-10 min walk from the pool, depending on where you are. Trolleys come by every 2-5 min. Food was good everywhere we went. Download the Bahia app 5 days before you arrive. Check-in, and then book your a-la-cartes. Otherwise, I'm not sure how much luck you'll have getting reservations. Beach was nice. Plenty of chairs! Seaweed isn't an issue. Whatever there was, it's cleaned up in the morning. Staff was generally friendly. Our biggest issue was that on numerous occasions we would get looks as if we were aliens if we spoke English. This was at check-in and wait staff. I'm talking about common words like "kids menu", "chicken", "flight information" etc. I don't expect fluent English speakers but the reactions we received were very odd. Traveled with 3 kids (10, 7, 4) and wife. Kids club was disappointing. Staff are not engaged and therefore kids don't want to stay longer than 20-40 mins. Nightly entertainment was okay. Kids enjoyed the Lion King show. I don't understand why a family resort starts the nightly entertainment at 9pm and then the 3D light show on the castle at 10pm. Most of the younger kids don't make it that long. Especially after a day in the sun. Room: We had 2 doubles and a pull out. Was good for a family of 5. Lots of room, closet space, etc. We had Castle View which was great for the location right by the pool but I wouldn't pay extra for the "view". Wouldn't go back but that's because we prefer smaller resorts where you can actually see the beach from the pool.

These were the realities broken down into 5 categories. Please read the disclaimer below for context and for tips and scams to avoid. Food: 6.5/10 Buffet- meats and fish are always overcooked so everything is well WELL done. The sauces are decent and the selection is above average. My biggest disappointment here was how the food was presented. Very boring compared to what they showed on youtube! We ended up sneaking into the buffets at the neighboring resort "Bavaro" which is also owned by Bahia and it was a huge difference! The food and presentation were much better (They had a fish frying station a taco station, and the pizza dough was being rolled right in front of you), and sadly what I had thought we were going to receive from Fantasia. Ironically, that was a lower-tier/cheaper resort servicing the South American tourist crowd. Ala Cart- This is a very hit-or-miss! Hits- Tequila, Circus Garden, Le Gourmet Miss - everything else! then again the buffet isn't much better for dinner. Beach 9.5/10 I docked 0.5 points for the amount of seaweed which is gross at first but you quickly get used to it. The waves are pretty big here on certain days which everyone loved playing and jumping in! The water is warm and aquamarine/lagoon blue and the videos on youtube cannot do justice to the beauty of this beach. The sunsets and magical here as the sky is filled with the most beautiful cream/pink/purple colors. Tips: avoid the monkey photographers that want to charge $20/ photo and whatever you buy always counter with 1/3 of the asking price. Accommodations 7.5/10 Very Clean! This resort is nearly spotless though a bit dated. I wasn't able to find cobwebs anywhere so that is a great sign for me. Our room was cleaned every day and our butler "Ramano"? did an incredible job of making us feel special and welcome. My only gripe is the water pressure from the showers, but it's tolerable. Tips: -We booked the non-castle-facing rooms as they are much quieter for afternoon Naps. -Pillows are terrible here so we placed a pillowcase over the couch cushion and that did the trick. -Yes, the walls are thin and you can hear everything that goes on in the hall but this is a family resort so it's relatively quiet during sleeping hours. You should be fine. Service: 8/10 I do not believe 1 or 2 bad apples represent the entire staff so overall everyone is very friendly and professional at Fantasia. English can be a barrier so if you have specific questions make sure to write them on google translate first. Now, the service at Las Olas restaurant on the beach shared by all the resorts is terrible! They ignore your requests and do unfortunately give you an attitude when asking for simple requests such as hot sauce or napkins. Not all but about 1/4 of the staff here. Entertainment: 3/10 This was the biggest disappointment. Based on my expectations from youtube and the website, it showed Michael Jackson, Disney Princesses, Lion King, Circus, magic shows, and Glow Parties. In reality, we got mediocre Lion King, Lame and outdated magic shows with equipment from the '90s, and no Princesses, glow party, or Michael. Shows are much better over at neighboring resorts like the Village, or Punta Cana but you cannot see the schedules on the app. This was supposed to be the highlight of our trip and felt like we were ripped off in this department big time! Tips- Bellman at the front lobby can shuttle you to these neighboring resorts. No need to walk. Overall personal experience: 7/10 The kids had a great time! We had a great time. Despite all the shortcomings, we maintained a positive attitude. I worked out at the gym almost every day and ate healthy foods like fresh fruit and lean proteins. Taught my daughter to swim. I relaxed and got to read by the pool while sipping on Black Label all day long. The wife didn't have to cook/ clean/ drive the kids everywhere. We got to unwind, reset our stress levels and Fantasia accomplished this. Plus the place looks beautiful and the castles light up gorgeously every night. Kids already miss it and my 11-year-old son choose this place over our 1 day at Disneyland last year so go figure. LOL If you're planning on excursions be aware the dolphin places do not allow you you bring in your phones and charge you $200 USD for photos on top of the expensive ticket price which I've heard is for only 45 minutes. Not to mention it's inhumane to cage these intelligent animals that require stimulation in a small pool. It would be the same as forcing you to live your entire life inside your washroom. Would we come back? We paid $4500 CAD for 8 days and used points for our flight. Unless they had a 50% sale next arch break I would try Mexico or Jamaica instead.

Bahia Principe was hands down a great hotel to stay at. The food was great, beach and pool. The resort had several different restaurants which were all amazing. The staff was very friendly and attentive, Especially Wellington. He was able to help us through a problem we had with one of our excursions we booked. He made sure the issue was sorted for us.
