We were a group around 20 people that decided to stay here for one night in order to enjoy a little bit, THANKS GOD IT WAS ONLY A NIGHT!!! The resort in general is a nice place to stay, pools are great and the gardens too. The main reason I give them only one star, it's because of the poor customer service they offered to the whole group. we actually called before going there; however, we were never told about couple things, not even when checking in. 1- because of staying only one night, we could not make a reservation in restaurants, but this type of things should be advised on time all customers. 2- pool bar is closed all freaking day and it was never informed to anybody of the whole group, this is crazy. 3- room was cool, but the mini bar was not refilled before we get into the room, the A/C was showing 10C but it was not that cold, i was sweating at night!! 4- everytime you go to the main bar, there was only one person working with the drinks, meaning that we had to wait for minutes everytime we needed something. GOOD PLACE TO STAY, BUT THEY NEED SO HARD WITH THEIR SERVICES IN GENERAL. PD: THE SECURITY BOX WAS LOCKED OUT WHEN I ENTERED MY ROOM.

I’ve traveled to Dominican Republic all the time to visit family out there, trips with friends and etc. BUT! I must say this hotel is BY FAR the worst I’ve ever stood for a vacation. CONS: - The food is trash (I lost 6 lbs on this trip) :( - Eating outside is the worst due to the birds picking at your plate. - The restaurants; you wait so long for your food and by the time it comes to you it’s cold. - The Pool Bar it’s permanent closed, so you have to walk out the pool... walk half a mile to the bar to get your drink. - The rooms have a horrible smell like sewer. - My closet door was broken, showerhead was gross, toilet kept getting clogged. - I had a 32 inch TV on my wall while my friends rooming next to me had a 55 inch. I could barely see the TV from my bed. - There were bug stains On the walls. - The staff.... They were only a hand full of people that were delightful... the rest trash. PROS: - The beach is breathtaking - The pool feels great on a hot day OVERALL experience is F-

We spent two weeks at the hotel with our friends. Due to the epidemic, there are very few guests. The hotel is not very modern but has a very nice garden and great cleanliness. Unfortunately, twice we found a large cockroach in our room. The mini bar was not refilled regularly, it had to be complained about when the fridge had been empty for two days. The buffet restaurant has a good selection, but the furniture is very old and worn. Unfortunately, on two occasions, spoiled fried bacon was offered for breakfast. We were in the steak restaurant twice, the first time it was very good, but the second time we didn’t get the same quality. There are very good animation programs during the day. We also went for a massage, the masseurs are very skilled. There is always a free sun lounger on the beach and by the pool. The beach is amazing, there has never been sea grass, the water is crystal clear. The waiters, they don’t understand English very much, often forgot or didn’t understand what we ordered. Despite the small negative comments, we had a great time. It fell very well from the epidemic situation at home, the recreation. At the hotel, we felt completely safe despite the epidemic. We would go back with our friends anytime.

Valentine weekend and so we decided to book the Catalonia at La Romana, very reasonable I thought as I booked an all inclusive package for four nights for USD 595 dollars. When we arrive we entered what resembled a sad run down 1970s edifice, the reception staff were less than friendly We were then escorted to our extra large double bed garden view room When we entered this well worn dark and roughly painted room the curtains were open presenting the view as shown in the picture. Immediately we told the consierge that the room was not acceptable, we returned to the reception and we were told that for an extra USD 35 a night each we could transfer to the Catalonia Royal which was less than one minutes walk away. Visually this hotel and its accommodation was a billion times better, the Catalonia had entered the 21st Century but here's the thing, they promote at this hotel the Exclusive Traveller Club so BEWARE The first issue was the drinks, I always drink wither Gordon's or Beefeater Gin and Tonic and the beverage that comes out of either bottle is NOT the authorised or advertised brand. It has a nasty tinge to it, I tried it without lemon and also without ice but the tinge was still there Secondly, you cannot get breakfast in your room unless you order it the previous day? Lastly the travel club, on the promise of a discounted massage the heavy sale pitch begins, it takes over an hour and basically for 20, 30 or 60k you sign up for breakfast in your room and or a premium Gin There's no one to compalin to and overall very disappointing We have stayed numerous times at the Catalonia in Santo Domingo which is Excellent for the price but if I were you in La Romana forget the Catalonia as its mutton dressed up as lamb

Traveled all over and have to say, I don’t know where the money spent to stay here goes. Food was terrible. No one informed us when booking the room there would be a DJ outside the room playing techno music until 2am nightly. We booked a massage and no one showed up. Went to the front desk to inquire as to what happened and the spa manager literally yelled at me and told me I changed the time and it was my fault and if I didn’t show up at the “New time” I’d be charged. Masks not enforced. Went down to get coffee and when I came back security was at my purse and my boyfriends wallet writing down that they were not liable because I didn’t use the safe every time I left the room. No do not disturb option. Twice I was in the shower and someone walked in. The website also doesn’t tell you the distance from the beach is over a mile away. The staff was miserable looking. I’d tip the bar $20, they wouldn’t even say thank you. As someone who is in the hotel industry, I highly suggest you avoid this property unless you have money to burn, super low expectations and like being treated like the resort is doing you a favor allowing you to stay there.
