Always good and relaxing to visit the Caribbean and this is our 2nd trip to DR. Safe and secure on and off resort. I would categorize Viva Wyndham as a 3-3.5 star resort - what makes it special is the entertainment staff (Pocahontas, Snow White..). They are very engaging, personable and they work hard. On the beach, you can get dang near anything you want (massage, cigars, pedicure, trinkets..) by approaching vendors. The two issues we encountered were problems with AC in our room and being asked to attend a sales presentation that took 1/2 of our day (they do feed you and the food is better than at Viva V). Food on the resort was okay and drinks are typical of what you get at an all inclusive but there is an option to purchase better libations on site. Nice fitness center.

Continuation...... LANGUAGE: They speak spanish and english but I must say that people that work at the lobby or the ones serving us at the restaurants and at the gift shops should speak more english. They make no effort and weren't very friendly. MONEY: We wanted to change money for tips but it was very difficult for them. They only had pessos and couldn't change it in american money. That was a first for us. SERVICE: The service at the buffet was ok. We would wait a while before getting coffee or wine. It was faster getting up and serving ourselves. Lack of tea cups, spoons....we would get up and get it ourselves at the bar. That was in general. I have gone to other resorts where as soon as we come in, they prepare a table and gave us a great service which was not the case at this resort. On the other hand, Jesica which welcomes us at the buffet is very friendly and always had a smile. A salute to Mariana, Juandi, Amanda, Cipriano, Eddy, Nicolas and Anyi. BEACH VENDORS: I feel for them because they want to make a living out of it and especially under the heat but when you say no thank you and they continue harasshing you over and over again, it's tiring. NOISE: We were on the third floor. It was quiet. BEACH: beautiful beach, a lot of waves and very windy. It's the perfect place for kite surfing which there was plenty of. Hope my comments will help you decide where to go on your next vacation. Annabella from Montreal

First-time in the Dominican Republic as a couple to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary and a 2nd-time to stay in a Wyndham hotel (1st was in Mexico). Please be patient with my lengthy comments. We chose Viva Wyndham V Heavens because it was rated the best hotel for adults. It was a one-week, all-inclusive, relaxing, quiet vacation. There was no loud music by the beach which we appreciated a lot. 1. ROOM: We stayed in a quiet Amnesia suite FAR from the discothèque (building 6, 3rd floor). Very clean and spacious. Comfy beds and pillows. AC works very well. WiFi was strongest in the rooms. There's a flat screen TV but we never turned it on even for a sec. 2. FOOD: There are 5 restaurants but since it's low tourist season (July 2019), only 2 are open for dinner. There's no need to reserve but VIP members reserve. On our 1st night, 2 restaurants had 2 reserved tables each (4 tables in total) for VIPs. So, expect waiting time (5-10 minutes). The best dining is in ROSMARINO, the Italian restaurant. The seafood entrée, pork loin, beef and lasagna were very delicious. This is the only restaurant that has a nice view of the beach and the sunset but unfortunately doesn't maximize to use their tables upfront/terrace. It's so hot close to the kitchen and feels suffocating at the back so everyone's trying to get a table closer to the beachfront. Who doesn't want an ocean view and feel the breeze while dining? Dining experience on the terrace is highly appreciated than eating close to the kitchen. The Dominican restaurant, SOFRITO, was also great but you have to know what to order. The entrée with lambi (conch) was exquisite. The Banderra Dominicana is a must. The beef (medium rare, last on the menu list) with mashed cassava and melted cheese on top was astonishingly flavorful. The Mexican restaurant, PUEBLA, was OK. The fusion restaurant, BLEND, was disappointing. Their Japanese gyoza didn't taste Japanese at all (we lived in Japan for 2 years and know real Japanese food). The bass fish and pork were very salty. But if you're into new culinary experience, this might please you. We didn't return to have another try. To be fair, maybe the other food courses were better than what we had. We had dinner at Rosmarino 3x, Sofrito 2x, Puebla 1x, Blend 1x during the week. The V restaurant (buffet) is open only for breakfast and lunch. It serves buffet dinner only during the high tourist season. The buffet breakfast and lunch offered lots of choices, from local food to North American food. Their seafood chowder (Dominican food) was the BEST! It's worth trying the local food. 3. STAFF: Among the front desk staff, Francisco is the MOST OUTSTANDING. He and Alberto (night shift front desk staff) give an impeccable personal customer service. They didn't perform their jobs like robots. They out shined the others. The waiting staff, bar tenders and cooks always made sure we had what we needed. They even got out of their way to make us happy, satisfied and contented. They catered to our needs with a HUMAN TOUCH. They didn't treat us as ''just another guest''. One morning, there was no papaya on the fruit counter. Maybe it wasn't part of the menu for breakfast that day but Felix (waiting staff) went to the kitchen to get a plate of papaya for us even if we didn't ask for it. That was really so nice of him. Odanis made certain we had coffee all the time. Felix Martinez (there are 3 Felixes there) offered us freshly squeezed mango juice (no sugar added). This is their finest juice but not provided in their juice section. You have to ask for it. Bonifacio, the cook always with a smile, makes fantastic omelets, sunny side-ups, etc. Another Bonifacio (waiting staff), was extremely kind and polite each time he served us. Yanailka, Angie and Augusto (waiting staff) never erased their smiles and courteousness even if sometimes they were overwhelmed with work. Marino, Bernaldino and Sencio are GREAT MANAGERS. Their team work very well with their exemplary leadership. This reflected on how their staff served the guests. Marino was there almost 24 hours a day and his GENUINE concern for clients was distinguishable! The water sports staff, Speedy and Needle, were always on their toes to assist guests. Water sports equipment (non-motorized catamaran, kayak, paddle-board, etc) are free of use. My husband kayaked and I did the SUP (stand-up paddle board). It would be nice to have newer paddle boards. Playa Dorada beach is always windy. It's an ideal beach to kite/wind surf. We brought our own snorkeling gears and it's possible to snorkel on the hotel's beach. You'll be able to see a few fish where the (dead) corals are. Bring a piece of bread for the fish and they'll all come out. We booked the half-a-day snorkeling excursion with Aqua Dive (kiosk beside the towel area by the pool). A 30-minute bus ride brought us to Sosua and the catamaran brought us to the 2 snorkeling/diving sites. It was an AWESOME excursion. The animation staff didn't seem to sleep at all! They were there to entertain but didn't go into your nerves if you don't want to participate in the daily games and activities. As I wrote, we wanted a relaxing, quiet vacation. We barely participated but the Foam Party in the pool (every Saturday) was really FUN and a MUST. We were like kids again throwing balloons and foam at each other. There are themed-shows every night and we've watched: The Dominican Night, The Retro Show (70's and 80's) and The Traditional Dance Show. All the animators are great dancers however, the VIRTUOSOS are CHOCOLATE JACKSON, JUNIOR, PODEROSA and POCAHONTAS. These are EXCELLENT PERFORMERS! One day, Chocolate Jackson had a big headache the whole day but during the evening show, he was all out! A VERY PROFESSIONAL and MARVELOUS DANCER! Junior, being the choreographer, is EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD! He's like a Las Vegas show dancer in the Dominican Republic! Pocahontas and Poderosa are fist-rate Latina dancers. Guests are asked to join the disco after the show but we never participated since we are not party-goers. The gardeners, pool cleaners are sometimes shy but when you greet them, they're gonna be greeting you every time. 4. LOCATION: Very close to the International airport (POP) but didn't like the Dominican policy of taking the tourists' fingerprints. Tourist spots like the DR cable car, Mount Isabel de Torres, etc are easy to reach. 5. OTHERS: V Heavens guests BEWARE and STAY AWAY: Within the front desk area, there's an office/counter of LIFESTYLE HOLIDAYS VACATION RESORT with employees wearing brown uniform. These people are not working for Wyndham. They lure you to be VIP members in their luxury resort and want you to pay 7K USD upfront and 3K USD installment. Since we refused to be members, Luis, an employee of this resort rudely told us to go back to our ''GHETTO'' V Heavens hotel. Wyndham should not let these people seduce their own clients nor be called a ''ghetto''. We reported this to Norvin, the Sunwing employee in-charge during our stay.

One of the best time I had was over there. The rooms were cleand and everyday the housekeeper would pass by. The food was also good and there was variety everyday. The animation crew was the best always there to make it more entertaining. The games and shows they put were amazing. They even showed us some places outside of the resort. Big shoutout to the bartenders also they were amazing at the pool, beach and the club. Anyway for sure when we comeback it will be to this resort with no hesitation. Ohh and I also enjoyed practicing my spanish with Joker and Dj Smiley even with the security guard Mr.Geral Ps: if Mama Bee see it, it is no more 50:50 it’s 100% :) Thank you for the hospitality Mufasa, Mariana, Maximo
