We went for our honeymoon. Loved the beach, my husband had to practically pry me out of the ocean. The food was excellent, particularly the chocolate muffins at the breakfast buffet. We did get sick towards the end, but took along some antibiotics and electrolyte tabs and we were ok. The room was great, we upgraded for our honeymoon and the sparkling wine they gave us was delicious, I wish we'd taken a picture of the label. The beds weren't awful, but nothing is like your own mattress so we expected that. The vendors on the beach were the only kind of annoying thing. But excellent overall. And child-free! Which was a must for us.
We stayed there for two weeks. The beach is not close to the room so you get enough steps while enjoying the abundance of what local nature has to offer. Keep an eye out for local turtles, fish and birds nesting in the trees nearby. Entertainment team is amazing, they keep everyone entertained. You can win Rum or coffee when taking parts in activities and they are very enjoyable. Entertainers are very nice to deal with. Food was delicious. Room service could have been better. Tip them well and you will be taken care of.
Spent a wonderful week (March 9 to 16) at this beautiful resort (it was supposed to be 2 weeks but Canadian Government advised strongly to return home due to Pandemic). I did every activity around the pool and had so much fun with my dance partner for lessons and the Discotheque at night Minnie Mouse, thank you for all the dances. And my favourite games leader “BIngo Bingo Bongo Bongo OY! OY!” And Kareoke duet singer partner, my Little “Wild” Strawberry... Fresita. And of course Snow White, Daddy Cool and Momma Bee. The Foam Pool Party and Chugging contest on Saturday afternoon was THE BEST! Thanks so much to the Entertainment team for giving me a cake for my birthday/ retirement and making my week so special. The Italian restaurant down at the beach was great food and great service and got me back three of my six nights (wasn’t opened for two and one it was raining so stayed close). Regretfully couldn’t snorkel as the waves were up all week but can’t blame the resort for that, but I did get to frolic in the waves with some of the many friendly guests I made friends with. Was highly disappointed that I had to leave early but honestly I had so much fun and activity for that first week I don’t know how I would have handled a second one…
This resort was absolutely terrible. It is extremely small, the service was horrible (unfriendly (rude at times) and very large language barrier most of the time), the pool was so small, only some of the restaurants were open each night and even then, the food was terrible with little choice. We left early due to the health crisis currently overtaking our world but, honestly, I was happy to leave. This experience has absolutely soured me for ever wanting to return to this country, let alone the resort. I will never recommend anyone to go here. Not to mention the Sunwing staff at the airport were so rude and disrespectful concerning my medical situation. Puerto plata is just an over all an ignorant spot. Unlike Punta Cana.
We enjoyed our stay at this adult only resort. The animation staff were great! Found that the food in buffet was not very hot, lukewarm at best. Would have liked to see more shade at beach, particularly in the Viva Club area - palapas or umbrellas.
