At Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort & Spa, guests have given mixed feedback. While the location garners appreciation for its scenic beach access and suitability for families, many visitors feel the resort doesn't provide good value, noting high costs for full access and aggressive timeshare sales. The amenities and rooms have received varied responses, with calls for modernization and improved maintenance. Cleanliness is often praised, yet some areas reportedly need more attention. Service quality seems inconsistent, ranging from excellent to disorganized. The atmosphere is generally seen as fun and family-friendly, despite occasional noise complaints.

Great resort! Food was fantastic, something for everyone. The kids had lots of choices and my picky eater even tried some new foods that looked good! We liked how we could go to Confesi Palm and eat there, the Pearl buffet was delicious, we only went for lunch one day.

We were in the first building. It was outdated but nothing we weren’t used to as we usually visit Cuba. I did note that the pool was right outside our balcony and it was loud! And at night the pool bar was busy and loud, entertainment was there until about 9:00 as well. If you like quiet or can’t sleep through things like that request a room away from that area.

If you go for all inclusive and you’re not a member you can only visit the VIP beach area, not the one that says exclusive for members. Once we located the area we could go we enjoyed the beds and the service we received. You can even order lunch there and they deliver to your bed. Sushi was great!

We enjoyed many virgin drinks like strawberry daiquiris, mudslides, pinacolada.

The staff was great and friendly. There is photographers right on site you can hire and get family photos or whatever you like. We took advantage of that! They even had monkey and a parrot you could get a photo with.

The maid we had was fantastic! She asked if we needed service and if we didn’t we requested beverages and we got them.

The beach was rough, the kids loved riding the waves. The sand itself was bit dirty bc it is a public beach, there were peddlers and people trying to get you to go to their store. Not many beach chairs, but the kids loved it.

The patio door gave us some troubles but was pretty good once we all found the technique to opening it.

Entertainment was fantastic! Great shows at the Colosseum.

Hello all ; Let me put your mind at ease when thinking about booking at Lifestyles Tropical, I am a well seasoned traveller , fairly picky but reasonable. I am also a member at lifestyles , fairly high up, my membership cost $75k usd. That said I have been travelling to my club thru Groupon not thru the club for the last 2 years, I get almost all my club benefits but at less than 1/2 the cost of going thru the club, so to those suggesting you book thru a member do the math! Rooms in building 2, 5, 6 are good, grounds are clean, food is good, could it be better? yes but overall good to very good. Locals do come in usually friday to sunday and it can be a little over whelming but there are many quiet pools and quieter resturants , you just have to ask where they are, its a big resort. The shuttle service is usually quite good , i recommend you take a ride around the resort. Entertainment at night is usually in the coliseum, its varied and usually pretty good. yes there are sales people around the resort but a friendly no thanks not interested is enough. A small tip at the restaurants and bars will be graciously received , so bring lots of ones and enjoy.

beautiful beaches and nice employees - great value. The timeshare hard sell was extremely aggressive and negatively effected our enjoyment. The spa at Cofresi was beautiful and very professional. The pools at the other resorts were very nice and we were greatful to have access to those as the ones at our resort weren't very nice. We loved the cabanas and dipping pools at the beach as well as the ocean itself - blue water, white sand and no seaweed.

If you're not a member of Lifestyle or their conglomerate, they will all but force you to be. Each day their "concierge" will wait for you outside the only food location you have for breakfast and lunch, and harass you until you go on a tour, offering no incentives in return like most places (Leo was our nightmare harrasser). We tried to bargin with him to get hot water turned on for our room, free safe access, or a non-leaky toilet room in return(bc apparently none of that was included in our all inclusive package). We finally have in to the tour to stop the ongoing harassment prior to receiving any room fixes (we assume it was a tactic to get us to buy in, as they showed us how members lived much higher quality than us non-members). My wife and I were so turned off to this place after that, that we left the fully funded All-inclusive early to go pay to stay somewhere else.

Service wise, staff was great. Business wise...absolute nightmare.

I’ve travelled extensively to various countries and resorts, but Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort stands out as the worst experience I’ve ever had.

Upon check-in, guests are given a yellow bracelet, signifying the lowest tier at the resort. For an additional cost, you can upgrade to various memberships, each identified by a different wristband colour. The more you pay, the more access you gain to different areas and amenities throughout the resort.

Be prepared to be constantly hassled about purchasing a timeshare during your stay. The staff are relentless in their attempts to sell, even going so far as to trap you into attending a three-hour presentation. If anyone offers to drive you to a free round of golf or show you around the grounds, it’s almost certainly a ploy to pitch a timeshare. They even approach guests while they’re eating at the restaurants.

The resort itself is quite large, and while the grounds, food, and weather were decent, the beach was filthy and uninviting. However, the most shocking part of the experience was the staff. Despite the resort employing around 3,000 people, not a single staff member I encountered during my week-long stay made any effort to smile or improve my experience. Many of them appeared arrogant and treated guests with complete disregard.

If you’re staying at the Residence Inn section within the resort, your access is incredibly restricted. Though they claim guests have access to 11 restaurants, the reality is very different. You’re limited to two international buffets offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. While the menu varies daily, the other nine restaurants are supposedly “reservation only,” yet reservations are perpetually unavailable. Restaurant reservations can only be made between 8 and 9 a.m., but staff repeatedly claimed they were fully booked during that time.

The rooms at the resort are hit and miss. Our room seemed newly renovated while other people we talked to at the resort said their rooms were in need of major repair.

The alcohol served at the resort is another major disappointment. It is all produced by a single company and tastes absolutely terrible—comparable to drinking paint thinner.

I would never return to this resort or Puerto Plata. It was, without a doubt, the worst vacation I’ve ever experienced.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. All your comments are constructive and will help us improve our services. We respect your opinion, but you must be aware that in all resorts with Vacation Clubs, there are some differences between the normal areas and the VIP areas to which the members have access. This is part of the attraction of being a VIP member. We would remark that the tour seller offer is optional, nobody is obliged to attend. Let us apologize for not exceeding your expectations in some aspects of your stay with us and thank you for your opinion. Best Regards, The Management

Do not stay here. This is the lowest level any a timeshare property with many room types. The Tropical is very outdated and dirty. During the day you are harassed to buy cigars, spa visits, excursions, pictures and take the tour (timeshare presentation).
They call the room at 8am on first morning and present themselves as your concierge but they are salesmen. They stand outside of the breakfast restaurant every day so you can’t avoid them.
There is no hot water on property. Shower sink or even at the spa.
The spa and spa pool area are nice but they don’t give you slippers and if you need to shower before or after, there is no hot water. Even during my facial they use cold wet towels.
Speaking of towels, I have never seen such thin scratch towels in a hotel. It was unbelievable. The pool towels are much better so bring clean ones back to your room.
Better yet please don’t stay here and spare yourself the disgust.

Tropical and Cofresi combined is one larger resort sharing sane common amenities.
Tropical is slightly newer and more modern than Cofresi beach palm resort and everything seem more updated.
However these 2 combined resorts try to brand their amenities and services with too many levels and push their staff to ask for tips, the all inclusive experience is tarnished as such.
1. Maids intentionally take your towels out in the morning and do not clean the room until later in the day so you cannot take a shower in the morning…… we had to use beach towels repetitively. Despite constant reminder, mais does what she wants
2. Water sports : hard to take anything out to sea and again they want tips to use kayak and boogie boards……
3. All pools and water access between 9 am-7 pm. It means no swimming after dark
4. Hot tubs: only at VIP beach areas and spa …. Not in more common areas like pools or easier access places
5. Need to discover on your own with their map and some guess work: can be good and bad …..but you can always pay a tip and have someone take you around but reception does not do that and no orientation at check in.
6. A lot of selling time shares and excursions throughout as timeshare sections have more modern amenities and better service and drinks
7. Tourista sickness: it’s a stomach cramp like your whole internal is turned upside down with twisting cramps…. You cannot move and the whole mid body tensed up with pain. Expect to loose a full 24 hours to recover
8. Rooms are basic with many broken furnishings and pillows are lumpy

Some positive
1. Varied food and theme night at restaurants
2. Nightly entertainment show , full productions with full band of entertainers
3. Lush grounds and flat ( Cofresi resort is hilly with many stairs. Not for families with young kids or physically challenged )
4. Free one hour wifi included ( and more free if you go to PS suite or Ying Yang spa)
5. Free shuttle between resorts and timeshare places….

The culture of the staff had changed from all of my many prior trips there. Staff morale was the lowest I'd seen it. We (five in 3 separate rooms) stayed at Cofresi Palm, where all three of our rooms had ROACHES!) but spent a majority of our time at the pools at Tropical since the Cofresi pools were torn up. Both resorts had changed drastically! The VIP Beach at Tropical needed a facelift and the cool pools were falling apart. (Fix the ladders!) The activities were few and far between and were not announced. Planned activities were not carried out, or were substituted. Excursions were scant and even the horseback riding had been discontinued. Casablanca Buffet was quite poor and the Indochine Restaurant, one of our favorites at Tropical, was completely closed. The food selection at Casablancea was not varied and the size of the buffet was half of what it once was. I feel certain that your poor service overall has affected your business. The festive vacation vibe was non existent this trip. I was with family and friends which prevented it from being a total waste of money.
Andres at the Tropical Pool Bar is always the star of the show and his customer service skills to all are EXCELLENT! Such a gentleman! Kudos to Nelson, as well, and his beautiful mother Maureen at the lobby bar. These folks continue to provide great service and I hope you never lose any of them.
Cuture is a huge part of a successful organization. Please review this from a quality improvement perspective and hopefully, you can change it around. Lifestyles has been our destinaton of choice for over 12 years now, having brought family and many friends to Tropical Beach, Cofresi Palm, Presidential Suites and Crown Suites over those years. Sad to say, I will not be returning to Lifestyles, a place we once looked forward to all year.

The property consists of about 5 different resorts -all under the Lifestyle Holidays logo. we were told there was 1 hot tub located on the property but we never found it. They have several round pools that look like hot tubs but they are actually just pools.

The levels give you access to larger rooms or villas, additional beach, restaurants and even an ice cream shop. The membership levels starting from $30K to over $300K as I was told. But apparently you can "negotiate" that to a much lower level depending on the promotion they have on that day. The membership does not buy you anything. It just gives you price guaranty for 30 years during which you can book as many days as you wish at the four locations they have. If you buy into the program that day you will get elevated immediately to that particular level. Personally, I would not purchase anything without first reading the contract carefully though. As for the particular level you will have, it is between the tour company and the resort. The one we had is black, which seems to be a basic VIP level.

No sadly that stopped with COVID the field that was used is soon to be a new development They don’t plan to consider the party area to the south of their real estate store, it is being completed as we speak They did not have the “Dome Customer Appreciation Party either” sadly the recent events has caused a reduction in their buffet food quality both at the Casablanca and the Pearl too I rated it overall a 3 star now, this was our tenth stay and most likely our last
