BlueBay Villas Doradas in Puerto Plata is an adult-only resort. This was our second time visiting and will definitely be returning. It's approximately a 25-minute ride from the Puerto Plata International Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional Gregorio Luperón) & are the first stop for drop-offs! The staff are exceptional! They are polite and hard workers. Although we cannot mention them all, we wanted to point out a few: from the buffet: Elizabeth and Jose who are absolutely outstanding in their service and friendliness - we never had to ask to have our glasses and cups filed, both of these employees are exceptional. Antonio who always kept our table clean, had a smile on his face, was very personable and a hard worker. Sylvester - this man is a working machine, he is always on the prowl to ensure tables are clean and service is up to BlueBay standards. Elvin - this guy is an excellent host, hard worker, friendly, personable, etc. a great employee for BlueBay. The buffet's toaster is less than adequate. It should be replaced with a higher capacity, rotating toaster; several people are often standing around waiting for one toaster. Oatmeal, in itself, is considered a healthy food and I would suggest it be placed in the healthy food section. It should also be prepared with no sugar added but rather have a bowl of brown sugar, as well as other toppings such as cut fruit as they have in the ice cream section, pumpkin seeds, nuts, etc. available on the side for those who want to add it to their bowl. Because the buffet cups are small and most people have more than one cup of tea or coffee, it would be helpful to add another carafe of coffee at the serving bar so guests can help themselves and to have personal size stainless steal serving tea carafes with a serving of tea at the table when served. Yuliana (Guest Service Manager) is extremely helpful and an absolutely wonderful person to deal with. She has a fantastic energy about her and as guests, we absolutely love her for doing whatever was necessary in ensuring our stay was perfect and we love her for it. The kitchen staff and chefs do an absolutely fantastic job preparing our meals. If you are vegan or vegetarian, you will not be disappointed because there is so much variety you won't be able to put it all on one plate! The buffet food is absolutely delicious! We were so amazed at the many flavours in so many dishes, bravo! One word of advice, you must wear a shirt for dinner; tank tops are not permitted; tank tops are allowed for breakfast and lunch. Staff who prepare, assemble and decorate the hotel for nightly events and dinners, especially the beach buffet, do an amazing job of making events beautiful! The staff at the Spa are absolutely outstanding! if you love massages, get them here, it's clean and sanitary. They have self-serve, cold water and juice dispensers and a coffee machine at the quiet pool bar. The beach bar has a self-serve automatic coffee machine and water dispenser; the juice is behind the bar and you must ask staff who are often busy. We recommend the juice be self-serve at the beach bar as well. This was great to have a coffee on the beach, first thing in the morning as we watched the sunrise. The BlueBay grounds and beach and absolutely beautiful and clean, and the groundskeepers need to be commended on their exceptional work. We suggest a shower at the beach area; there is a foot washing station available. The beach area is great and does not have any rocky or weedy areas in the water. There is no offshore snorkelling areas but there are excursions for that. Room attendants are very efficient, polite and do a great job cleaning. Had Superior Room, number 8112, the room itself was very large, bathroom very small & poorly laid out; barely have 2 people, very little counter space. Our room itself had a lot of wasted space and we would recommend hooks to hang towels and clothing. Perhaps a desk with additional area for useable space. The room could have more functioning outlets, including USB outlets, for devices as well; realizing this resort is older. Tipping: Canadian coins are worthless to them, they will accept bills but the best is to convert Canadian to the Peso …
