The airport is about an hour bus ride... I think. Puerto Plata is way too far to walk from the Bachatta. We took the public Bus into Puerto Plata for an adventure. Cost was 100 Pesos. Was kinda scary at first, as you catch the bus out on the shoulder of the highway . The busses are nice with comfy seats and AC. Puerto Plata is busy and noisy with good shopping. Once in the city we walked everywhere and always felt safe.
